Finally made it to Spice kitchen Ashland and man it was freaking delicious and the folks liked it to! Very open space with a large menu! They do the buffet just on weekends but week days À la carte! Good size portions and the dishes are loaded with the proteins and not just veggie fillers and sauce! Went with my Favorite Lamb vindaloo Also went with Curry chicken and everyone's favorite chicken Tikka Masala ! Lets not forget about that Basmati rice and Butter Garlic Naan! Formerly Hema's Kitchen, Spice Kitchen is an Indian food takeout counter located in the back corner of Madras Market in Ashland. Similar to before, Spice Kitchen is online order and pay only. I stopped in here for takeout recently and did an online order via ToastTab. I ordered Vegetable Samosas (2 for $6.99 plus tax) and Vegetable Hakka Noodles ($12.99 plus tax). My food was all set for pickup in about 20 minutes after ordering. The Vegetable Samosas were not very big, but had a very flaky pastry shell filled with a spicy peas & soft potato filling, dipping sauces provided. The Hakka Noodles were cooked very soft (boiled) tossed with vegetables, soy and chilli sauces and spicy seasonings. I enjoyed my hot food back in my ride as it was pouring rain outside. What an amazing Indian restaurant showcasing a plethora of options ranging from North Indian go-to appetizers and entrees, South Indian staples, to chaat and Indo-Chinese. The proximity to the Ashtalakshmi temple is a major plus for the establishment! We ordered the idli vada combo, a few dosas, the paneer samosa ( a very unique offering available alongside its traditional potato varietal), and a sev puri. The Idlis are fluffy and light as a cloud, acting as the ideal sponges to sop up the cool coconut and the tangy tomato chutneys. The Dosas are crunchy with hardly a hint of the sesame oil used to crisp the outer layer whilst leaving the inner layer on the softer side, allowing the diner to appreciate the contrast in texture. The new ownership takes the quality of food and service seriously. Most, if not all items, including condiments, are made in-house! Their made-from-scratch rasmalai and masala chai were the fitting 'cherries-on-top', capping off what was one of the most scrumptious and satisfying meals we have enjoyed in a while! The continued success of this eatery ensures a happy new year indeed for current and future patrons of this veritable culinary landmark!! Ashland, MA needed this restaurant a long time ago! We end up going every weekend for the buffet which is reasonably priced and has an array of choices for vegetarians and meat eaters. Some of our favorite dishes are the chicken malai tikka, butter chicken, saag paneer, biryani (both veg and non-veg). Our favorite breads are garlic naan and Amritsari kulcha. Yum! Both owner Abhishek Sharma and chef Deepak are happy to cater to your particular taste - you can go from non-spicy to very spicy and they will be happy to accommodate. We organized an Ashland town gathering of 30 plus people and every single person has only good things to say about the food. Our menu included aloo gobhi (cauliflower and potato), dal makhni (black lentils in a tomato and cream sauce), saag paneer (cottage cheese in a spinach gravy), and Goan fish curry (salmon cooked in spices from Goa which is on the western part of India). And jalebi for dessert! For some it was their first time tasting Indian food. So that says something about the restaurant offerings! We hope to support this local business in every possible way. I wish I could give negative star reviews. We were in the area and decided to check out this restaurant. One of the decisions we will regret for the rest of our lives! We had the Sunday buffet and I have to give it to the chef who could make EVERY dish on the buffet unpalatable! This dude really has some skills. The restaurant owners are supposed to be from the Punjab region of India, and they managed to screw up Rajma, paneer butter masala, chicken tikka masala! Staple Punjabi cuisine...what do I know. And to mess up every single dish on a buffet takes special skill. And the ambience is so dreary, like a funeral home. Anyone looking for anything close to Indian food, americanized Indian food, or even edible food, please avoid this place. read more

This is maybe my favorite Indian restaurant I've ever been to and I have been to many! We moved to Ashland summer of 2024 and just went to this restaurant because it was close. I walked in when ordering takeout and there was barely anyone inside. I was thinking it wasn't going to be good at all! But I was so pleasantly surprised!!! The tikka masala sauce is one of the best!! And the saag paneer sauce is also unique and delicious. You can taste the ginger which is just so cool. I actually asked the nice man working there why there weren't more people there and he said it was all under new management.. maybe the food wasn't good before. I'm not sure. We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. The menu was surprisingly diverse containing both North and South Indian cuisines. There was unlimited dosa option on this Thursday evening, but we decided to check out the makki ki roti and sarson ka saag instead. Good choice. The dish turned out to be better here than at some of the other local restaurants we have tried. This may turn out to be our go-to place for a quick bite to eat whenever we go to the Lakshmi Temple close by. read more

i came up from connecticut for what i heard was good Indian food, this wasn't just good Indian food but excellent food. I had the chicken Tika Masala and it tasted like a home cooked meal!
