Summarizing a restaurant run by people who don't know how to run a restaurant. Given the dismal quality of Indian food in a 20 mile radius from here is the only reason it gets a 3 star. The dining room was clean and uncomplicated, with understated decor and an enchanting aroma of balanced spice. The menu here is a tome- while they're halal and vegetarian friendly, it's pretty clear they have all the meats halal allows... the usual chicken, beef, & lamb, but also mutton, goat, fish and shrimp. The first two pages are all different Mandi, or meat platters (there are vegetarian options), and then it goes on... soups, salads, classic entrees by ingredient and style. Then there's extras- biryanis, Indo-Chinese, and of course desserts. My coworker and I got a mixed grill and a chicken curry with garlic chili cheese naan and a cucumber salad. We asked for medium spicy. Everything was well prepared and expertly spiced, from a surprise sharp chili note balancing the sour tang of the yogurt in the cucumber salad, to the naan that had a welcome note of butter. The mixed grill was well prepared and the simple chicken curry was the surprise star... deep and rich, perfect over rice. The service was attentive, and it took a bit for the entrees- this isn't fast food. But the waiters and host were gracious and let us linger and finish our conversation past closing time, and let us try their rice pudding. All in all, this is the first Indian restaurant I've been to in a long time that didn't need to prop up their offering with a buffet- the entrees were compelling in their own right without having an array of choice. The bill was reasonable, and all in all we had a great time. I'll be back, and next time I'll try a mandi and ask them to dial up the heat on the curry, since they're fairly conservative with the spice levels. Flavor-wise, I would easily opt for a biryani vs this dish. Plus from a value for money perspective, mandi is easily more expensive even for a single portion. It feels like it's a big tray when you pick it up, but the layer of rice inside is pretty thin with only 3 pieces of chicken. The restaurant itself is counter service with a large and varied menu. I like that they had some Indian beverages to choose from as I've been a huge fan of Limca for a while now. Otherwise I ordered the vegetable samosa, chicken saag, and chili cheese naan. I found the price point ($40 for all of the above) to be reasonable but not outstanding. The saag did come with a hefty portion of rice which I appreciate. The food itself was fine. The samosas were clearly premade and I found the accompanying sauce to be a little sour. Saag is my go to at every new Indian restaurant. This one was also just fine. It may be preference but I like my saag to be creamier and have a fresher spinach flavor than Vaanga's had. The chicken was plentiful but in especially large chunks which made cutting it hard to do. Not a huge fan of the chili cheese naan either. They were oily with barely any cheese- they felt more like a cheese quesadilla from Taco Bell. I always give restaurants second chances and I appreciate that Vaanga opened in such a varied location but I'd like to try some other things on the menu to see if I like them more.

The place was order at the counter and there is table seating and a painted mural on the wall. They offer build your own fusion bowls, fusion meals (hot chicken sliders, chicken tenders) with fries & soda, family meals, fried chicken, and loaded fusion fries. They also offer bring your own bag of chips and they will fill it with fusion bowl fillings, a similar concept to The Halal Spot in NH. I stopped by The Halal Fusion in Framingham recently. For takeout, I ordered a regular size Build Your Own Fusion Bowl ($13.99 plus tax) with yellow rice, breaded chicken pieces, lettuce, tomato, onion, fusion white sauce, and hot sauce on the side. The food here is prepared in the back kitchen, so it's not like The Halal Guys and The Halal Spot where your bowl is made in front of you down the line. My bowl (square plastic takeout box) was all set to go in about 8 minutes. The box was loaded up with yellow rice and grilled chicken on one half and lettuce, tomato, onions on the other half and topped with plenty of creamy fusion white sauce over both sides. The hot sauce on the side was the right call since I was able to dip a few bites into the sauce without being to spicy hot. This regular fusion halal bowl was pretty tasty and very filling. I will come back again to try the slider meal.
