This place is never open for business, which is frustrating because there food is actually good! Wish I could say the same about the customer service though, or even basic phone manners! Twice now we have called and asked for pick up or dine in options and they say they are closed ( not like other places that close from 3-5, but closed and not taking orders) because they were "busy" !!! The latest incident happened last week . I called and asked to place an order for pick up and was told the same story " we are closed and not taking any more orders...." After getting more info I was told that "if you want, you can come work here on the weekends and i will give me food" I was surprised and didn't know what to say! After some thought, the whole situation makes sense . If the manager/ owner talks to customers this way, imagine how they talk to theirs employees. No wonder he can't get staff to come work for him !! It's a loose, loose, loose situations, owner looses staff, will eventually loose his business and we as customers loose by missing out on some good food! We have eaten here before and the food is good although it lacks any ambiance inside. We decided it's a good take out place because it's just awkward to eat inside. Last night I ordered online through their website, which links to GrubHub. It said 20-30 minutes usually so I headed out to pick it up. I tried calling to verify but the number listed on the website was a fax number. About 20 minutes after I ordered i received a text confirming, although it would not be ready for still another 30 minutes. Fine, I'll stop and grab wine. When we finally made it there the place was closed. A handwritten sign on the front door said we are currently open irregular hours, thank you for your patience. It was Friday evening at 6:30, not like a Monday or some weird time. I ended up calling Welcome India, who said it would be a 30 minute wait but food was ready in less than 15. I had to call GrubHub and have them refund my money. So Punjabi is not somewhere I would go to again and I'd recommend others to steer clear or verify they're open before ordering. read more

I grabbed take out from here otw home. Once I got home, I realized they had given me tofu instead of chicken! As much as I appreciate a vegetarian diet, I am not a tofu person. I called back to let them know, and the owners wife made me a new order and brought it out to me personally, and I live 20 minutes away into Westborough! Typical Punjabi cuisine and dishes... more of an Indian feel than Paki. Located in a strip mall, west bound, route 9... parking is very limited. As the pics show... the place is a little underwhelmed.. it could use more tables and more life. I hate to say it but I feel that every time I come here it gets worse. We use to love this place but each time something is wrong. Tonight, even after our order was read back to us, I got home and two things were correct. My fish vindaloo was chicken and had zero potatoes. My vegetable pakoras (my favorite from them) were, I'm guessing, potatoes samosas or some fried potato dumplings. They were ok but not what I wanted. The lentil soup had no lentils and was an inch thick with grease. The garlic naan was ok but not the best I've had from them. My fiancés chicken korma was excellent. Like I said I'm disappointed because we loved this place. It was a hidden gem for a while. I also never got my Raita and papadum was unavailable as usual. I hope they can turn it around! read more

My cousin took me here after going with her on errand duty. It's like a whole in the wall, nothing fancy about this place. You see a couple of table and on the left wall you see the mini buffet. They have a big selection of other food on their menu but we opted for the buffet. Mostly because we were hungry and wanted to eat asap. I actually liked this place. The owner is quiet but pleasant, he came to our table and offered fresh out of the even naan bread. I was delighted and in heaven, it was so good. The only thing I didn't like at the buffet was the spinach dish and the dessert (it was too sweet for me but than again it was sitting in syrup). I was so stuffed when I left. Tough to beat them with anything taste-wise. 6 or 7 for $2.95... One of the if not the best meal deals ever. Chicken pakora was so bland. No seasoning. Nothing wrong with the texture or quality, just literally no taste. Tikki masala sauce was good! That said, I don't think I've ever had bad Indian orange chicken... Kind of like the basmati rice sample size... Have to try more to really know! Some pieces of the chicken were tough though... I KNOW I've had MUCH better naan bread. Absolutely flavorless, too doughy, and undercooked. Decent little place I guess, nice portions all in all, great prices... Put those samosas on your bucket list. :) read more

The "worker" (not sure what his title is, he did nothing but grunt and slam my food on the counter) did not make eye contact with me and sighed when I walked in. I just ordered one dish as a take out and it cost $14.99 which consist of a small bowl of curry and a small standard chinese rice box filled with basmati rice along with some spices. Unless the curry was made with some exotic spices, the menu items are way too expensive! . Enough to make your lunch or dinner experience - a big hole in your pocket. I do not know how the buffet is. It was really very mediocre, maybe not even mediocre. We ordered the non vegetarian appetizer sampler, and almost all of the meat was very dry. Even the ground lamb inside of the samosa was completely dry. If I had paid $13+ for one of the entrees from which the samples came, I would have been really disappointed and sure my money had been wasted. Fantastic food! The best north Indian food in boston . Recommendations-The Chicken Biryani is delicious , so the chicken do pyaaza. The non- veg appetizer platter is just about enough for 2 ppl. If you are a group , you might want to make a reservation but if not they do take outs as well . We also had them cater one of our house parties and the food was fabulous! Went to Punjabi Grill tonight for our anniversary. This is a no frills place. Very small. But didn't seem too busy. A few people came in for take out and there was one other good sized table that was already there when we arrived. Immediately when I walked in one of the customers was fanning themselves so I knew the AC was broken. I walked in and sure enough. No AC. We live in Boston so we drove a bit to get there. I know my husband was happy being from Pakistan to be in a place where he can get food like at home. So I stayed for him, but I'm really glad I did. As soon as the food came out my attitude turned right around because it was really good. We had Seehk Kebabs, which are one of my favorites. These were chicken and there was a good amount of cilantro and it comes on a sizzling plate kind of like fajitas with onions and some green pepper and a lemon. We gobbled that right up. No left overs! I had Lamb Korma. The meal came with Basmati rice. It had orange strands in it. I asked my husband if it was carrots and he said it is spices. I am on weight watchers, so I just had that. I also had some naan bread with it. My husband also ordered Chicken Haleem and Chicken sagawala. He said it was delicious. The food was nice and hot and fresh. We really enjoyed it and had left overs to bring home. Not sure what was up with the AC, but I would definitely visit that place again. I chose to dine here as it is the closest Indian restaurant from my place. I have made 3 visits to this place, 1 good, 1 bad and 1 worst. Here are my 3 encounters: Bad Buffet: I went to a Sunday afternoon Buffet which was decent. I say decent because there were very few varieties to call it a Indian buffet. I liked the Chicken Biryani and that's the reason i decided to go there again. There are many more way much better options nearby. Good Chicken Biryani: Remembering the buffet's Chicken Biryani, decided to get it for dinner. When asked the guy for a home delivery option, he suggested that i should rather do a take out as i reside close by. Got the food on time and it was nice and spicy as desired. Worst Delivery EVER: I usually get my food delivered. I have had delays in my delivery but never this bad. I got my Chicken Biryani delivered in 1 Hour 40 Minutes. I had called once to check the status and the guy on the phone said that he was very busy and was waiting on the cook to finish cooking for other orders and then deliver. Like it's just one man doing everything. Really bad excuse but i gave in expecting a good dinner. Finally when i got the food, Guess what? The food was COLD and really didn't enjoy my dinner. Will never get a home delivery from here. Keeping in mind the price Punjabi Grill charges for their food, their service and buffet quality is really really poor. So, this order was a take-out order, but I was there for a while, so I'll comment on what I saw as well as my experience. I called at 8:03pm for a take-out order. I ordered meat samosas, saag paneer, and garlic naan. I was told it would be 20-25 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant at about 8:30pm. When I said I was there to pick up my order, and gave my name, the man looked at the one order sitting behind the counter, and asked what I had. I repeated my order, I paid, and he told me it would just be one minute. A few minutes later, I was told it would be just a few more minutes. About 15 minutes after that, I was told it would just be a few more minutes (again) and that there had been a mistake. They did apologize, but by this time, it's nearly 9pm, and I'm getting hangry. I thought about walking out, but I had already paid. Meanwhile, other people's food was coming out of the kitchen (granted, I don't know what time they had ordered), and I do have to say that both of the men working were hustling. The phones rang nearly constantly, and the tables were full, including a family of 6 waiting on the table paying their bill. At 9pm, I got my food. They apologized again and said they had thrown in dessert as an apology. That mollified me. I was still hangry, but they handled it appropriately by keeping me updated, apologizing, and showing their apology. I got home and needless to say, I was ready to dive in. The samosas were very good flavor-wise, but could have used another minute in the fryer. I assume this was due to their rush to get my food together. The garlic naan was wonderfully cooked, and the saag paneer was perfect. The spice level wasn't too hot (I like spicy but I hadn't specified how to cook my order) but had a lot of flavor. The paneer was soft and not too dry. The portion was great, too. This was only my second time there, and I'll go back. The signs on the buffet had two of my favorites on it, along with other great items, so I'll try that next time. read more

Truly ethnic. Chicken Karahi literally came in a Karahi to give us a traditional feel. Flavorful and quality food. Having always had hyderabadi/mughlai biryani, PG's biryani looked different. Looked like layers of plain basmati rice and curry. Update after a lunch buffet - would appreciate more hygiene at this place. There is usually just one person attending all the guests, who could get less attentive. But overall great value for money. read more

While the food itself was very good, the ambience doesn't justify the price. It's about the same price as the Indian restaurant Minerva down route nine, except it has all the ambience of a cafeteria. When I went, it was winter and they don't have a vestibule in the restaurant so every time someone came in it would blow in a freezing gust of wind. I had to eat with my winter jacket on. If you're not going to invest in your restaurant and put a little character into it, you can't charge like it's an upscale restaurant. read more
