Best Indian food I've had in the city, and I've tried a number of places. Holes in the wall, expensive places, and everything in between. A lot of it is mediocre and overpriced. Some of the Indian food in the city is watered down and bland; it seems almost criminal to call it Indian cuisine. I eat at Spicy Masala regularly, and I've got my faves (Chana saag--any of the saag dishes here are excellent, Baingan Bharta, any of the samosas, chicken tikka, the list goes on). I'm not sure what other people are talking about around portions. I eat a lot, and the portions are solid. Never had a complaint in that department (are these other reviewers horses?!?). The owner is from Bangladesh and knows his stuff. It's a family operation. The restaurant is small and there aren't a lot of tables, but it's clean. I usually do takeout. Ordered the chicken biryani and chili chicken with naan. I got the biryani spicy and the flavor was just alright. The food was only warm so I'm guessing they had it made already and added spice to it. The chili chicken on the other hand was piping hot and fresh and the flavor was good. Maybe because it's not commonly ordered. They do include a lot of quantity for the price which is good. Wait time from order was 15-20 min. Don't know if I'll be back but pretty decent place if you don't care about authentic flavor. read more

I ordered from here via UberEats and the food was crap... no taste at all but spicy. Also, it tasted like it was spoiled food. I tried my best to eat it. The samosas were ok, and the meat was seasoned well, but the dough was oily. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Got carry out from this place and it was very, very disappointing. We had butter chicken, saag paneer, and gobi manchurian. The butter chicken was by far the most bland I have ever had. It had none of the signature sweetness, none of the mild tomato flavor, really no flavor at all--just creaminess. The cauliflower was both bland and had terrible texture. It was totally mushy, which defeats the purpose of the whole dish. The saag paneer was the highlight by far. Which is to say it was standard. It was nothing special at all, but it wasn't terribly disappointing. Could've used a little shredded ginger as a garnish. I'm hoping they just had a bad night, but that experience would make me hesitant to try this place again. read more

I wanted Indian food so bad but the place I usually order from wasn't offering delivery tonight. Found this spot on Ubereats and read the reviews, decided to give it a try. I hate it so bad. I decided to just order chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and mozzarella sticks just in case I don't like the food. The best thing was naan, I'm so hungry and so disappointed. We visited for a family dinner today, The front staff was friendly and welcoming and relatively quick. We ordered laccha paratha, Paneer Makhni, chicken korma Everything was fresh and delicious. Lucky to be in the neighborhood with these folks!! Food is extremely flavorful and nuanced, and if you like spicy, they gotcha!! Favorite dishes include Chicken 65, veggie samosas, and for dessert, the gulab jamun! Also super sweet people and great service. read more

This place is amazing my new favorite Indian restaurant in Philly . everyone I taken there as loved it. The goat and lamb is so tender and juicy chicken season perfectly and their curries are really really really flavorful and got that heat. Absolutely get the mango lassi. It was fantastic. Been here a few times now I think one of my faves is the lamb vindaloo and goat Curry be sure to get the garlic naan. It's pretty impressive. The staff is absolutely friendly and very helpful. They always offer more rice. If you need, it had lunch with a coworker of mine who's never had Indian before she loved it and now claims to go twice a week, highly recommend Spicy Masala Kitchen they are fantastic. The food is incredible. Only thing they could figure out is parking but it's north Philly so... it's a smalll Place ambience is more or less takeout with a small area to eat but again the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I've been to many Indian restaurants sit down and take out in NYC, New Jersey and Philadelphia. The food is hands down amazing, the chicken tikka masala was spiced perfectly and the heat level was on point with mild. The paneer was fried perfectly with two dipping sauces that complimented it nicely. Also the garlic naan was very the best I have had yet a lot of flavor. For dessert the mango lasse and Gulab was a great finisher to our dinner. For the service they are super friendly and nice. This place seems very authentic and most likely family owned! read more
