Heard a lot about this place from Philly friends so finally decided to check it out. They typically need reservations but we did walk in early on a Friday and were easily accommodated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is large and feels like fine dining for Indian fare.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered 2 curries, garlic Naan, and Gobi manchurian. Overall I thought the food but good but not amazing and a bit overhyped. For philly, it's solid Indian food but not the best I've had

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is wonderful. Wine was good. But the food wasn't good. As a south Asian the food was bland. The achari chicken which is supposed to have spice was very bland. I can't handle spicy so for me to feel like it was bland is bad. The palak chaat was more greasy than crispy. It's a good date night spot for some bites and/or drinks.

Veda is a modern Indian restaurant. I've been both for happy hour and dinner. The food is flavorful with a good spice profile. I've tried the malai kofta, Dahl makhni, spinach chaat, and samosa chaat. The goat cheese naan is very bold and rich. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is elegant and I like the quote on the back wall from the Gita "your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is a great dining experience with good service.

Can here for their happy hour. I got the lemon drop and it was good. I also got the samosa chaat and tandoori paneer. The tandoori paneer came with cilantro mint chutney and it was tasty. It was well marinated. The samosa chaat was good wish they added some amli chutney and it would've been perfect. The bartender was super nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the Bollywood music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved also seeing books at the entrance and bar, which fits the name Veda.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Dal out of a can! Goat that was a few days old and chewy and a sub-par biryani rounded off a disappointing evening. The achari chicken tikka was par and the spinach chaat was under seasoned but freshly prepared

We came for the happy hour and ordered every food options. Honestly was a little disappointed. I've had their regular menu items before and it was delicious. I think the happy hour is too carb heavy. - goat cheese naan - Pork ribs - Samosas chaat - Lamb donut - Tandoori grilled salad - Goan crab cake The goat cheese naan was very interesting. I've never had stuffed naan before so that was tasty. However, I still think it's best to order a curry or dip to eat with naan. The lamb donut just tasted like a ground lamb empanada. I'm not sure why it's called a "donut". The tandoori salad was a skewer with grilled veggies and paneer. My favorite item from happy hour would probably be the crab cake and pork ribs. I like their regular menu options better. If you come for happy hour they sit you in the front near the bar at the high tables. The inside seatings are only for regular menu ordering.

one of the best indian restaurants i've been to I went for Philly restaurant week 2024. It was $40 for app, entree, dessert. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is quite nice, so I dressed up, but casual attire is fine too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Some people were wearing t shirts... gotta love philly. The dinner tasted very flavorful but my favorite dish was the chocolate dessert. Also, I tried their Indian beer that was crafted to go with spicy food, which made for an enjoyable authentic experience. the restaurant is in Rittenhouse area, so we used free street parking nearby.

Goat Cheese Naan, Samosas Chaat, Lamb donut (round bread roll looking thing - very dry. Skip this), Calcutta Pork Ribs

I liked the thickness of the mango lassi. Samosa Chaat was good. I liked how buttery the goat cheese naan was. I felt like all the main entrées (Wild Mushroom Korma, Lamb Roganjosh, Paneer Palak) were not memorable. I would eat it and then go onto the next thing and then I'm just like wait what was the taste of the other one? I did like the firmness of the paneer. That lamb donut was like a meat dumping. It was a no no. Very dry. I wouldn't crave coming back here but if somebody wanted to come, I would give it another shot.

Great discovery of a modern, fine dining Indian restaurant in the heart of Philadelphia. Very warm, inviting and comfortable vibe here. The staff are very attentive, and friendly. Unfortunately I wasn't able to explore many items on the menu. I just had a few delicious appetisers. I must say, you have to try the Lasooni Gobi - which is a lightly battered and flash-fried Cauliflower tossed in a Ginger-Garlic sauce. This was amazing! I'm looking forward to coming back to explore additional items on the very enticing menu. Veda sells a beer call Rupee. It's a Indian beer carefully made to pair very well with curry. I'm not a beer drinker per se, but I found the taste and overall balance very good. I also had their Old Fashioned, named Old Fashioned Gabor. It consists of wild turkey whiskey, orange liqueur, bitters and turbinado sugar. This was so good!! I should've had another! Check Veda out! It's a delight!

I visited Veda for a Yelp event last year and have wanted to go back ever since. I saw that Veda has a brunch menu so I stopped by ! There is a bottomless mimosa option and Yes! I indulged. The waitress kept the carafes coming until I was ready to leave ! I also ordered the non Veg Thali. It was absolutely delicious- full of flavor. I was so impressed with the service and the food, decided to get some dessert! The waitress suggested GULAB JAMUN WITH ICE CREAM. When the dessert came out the "donuts" did not look like what I expected BUT it was so Good! It was a great choice !

We found parking in a lot right beside the building. The staff was friendly and patient with my questions. I appreciated that they had spice levels since we had a mix of people wanting their food mild and spicy. The buffet looked appealing and the seating areas were clean. The inside was nice and pretty big. I imagine they are packed during busier times. We were taking our order to go, but the buffet looks like a good time. We ordered Veggie Samosas, Paneer Makhni - cheese cubes cooked in a tomato sauce with butter [gluten-free], mild and spicy Butter Chicken (Makhni) tender pieces of chicken tandoori cooked in a fresh tomato sauce with butter [gluten-free] and Chicken Tandoori half chicken marinated in yogurt and herbs, then barbecued [gluten-free]. Some plain naan and for dessert Gulab Jamun home-made milk-balls dipped in honey syrup. I really enjoyed the flavors of the spicy Chicken Makhni. The meat was tender and the tomato sauce had a range of spices that made it hard to say when! The chicken tandoori had nice flavors too, but the meat was a tad dry. The Paneer was good, but the star of the show was the Chicken Makhni. Throw some rice and mint chutney in with the chicken makhni and naan .... Happiness .... I would love to return to try a Biryani. The Gulab Jamun was a miss. It lacked the syrup flavor I'm used to. The pricing was around $33 per person for what we ordered. There were leftovers. I would recommend ordering ahead as the wait time was a bit long. Everyone was stuffed and happy that we tried New Delhi. I'd repeat more often if I lived in the area.
