They lost me as a customer. I went in with a bent rim. The repair guy hit it in on the floor one time and charged me $18 for 2 seconds of work. Literally 2 seconds of work. He could have been professional and told me how to fix it. He is not professional. Rip off. I do not recommend this place. Very unprofessional. Any professional guy would have told me to take it home and hit it on the driveway. They aren't professional I took the bike out later. The tire is still not repaired. I had to disconnect the front brake and just use the rear brake because of the wobble. The Tesla story never happened. Tesla was a scientific genius and not a business man. He died broke. He made very little money on his inventions even though some like A/C generators were solutions to huge problems. read more

I purchased an item on ebay from this store and they failed to ship in a timely fashion. I had to email them to remind them and they emailed me back saying they missed it. I asked for a refund on the shipping charges only since they admitted they were not going to hit the shipping window that they advertised. Their response was to cancel the order. Extremely poor customer service. Clearly their feelings got hurt when they were held accountable. read more

Would never shop here again. I went in to get my first mountain bike and had a leftover last year's model pushed on me. It was a good price and decent bike, so I thought about it...but it felt too big. I kept telling them I felt like it was too big. It was an adult medium. I am a 5'4 female. The sticker even said it was for height 5'7 to 5'10, but they told me it was the right size. They tried me on a really small frame that seemed way too small, and then told me that showed me that this was indeed the right size frame for me. So I trusted their judgement, as I didn't have much experience cycling. I also mentioned that I needed a different seat, and instead of having me try seats on they just grabbed a woman's seat and rang it up for me. The bike felt really big for me. I had difficulty controlling it. I kept getting pains in my sit bones. I just thought I didn't know what I was doing and/or hadn't built up a lot of cycling muscles yet. I bought some padded shorts, which helped some, but I still was having the issues with the pain...even as much as I cycled. I began to try more advanced trails and I could not do them at ALL because my bike was so large. I started making friends with serious mountain bikers, who quickly told me what I had suspected--that was my bike was way too big. I took my measurements and found that while I had a standover height of 29 inches, the standover height on this bike was 31 inches. So I decided to try to sell my bike. However, I didn't realize that bikes depreciate extremely quickly...so this ended up being a very expensive mistake for me as I did not get a very good return on my bike. I finally sold it (for about half of what I paid for it), then went shopping from bikes. I found a bike store that actually spent the time to help me. They couldn't believe that I had been sold a medium frame. In addition, they helped me find a seat that fits...I no longer have pain in my sit bones. They explained to me that while they can recommend seats, it's all personal preference (everyone is different) and I test rode a few different seats before deciding. My experience was like night and day. After all of this, I will never shop at Spin City again. I feel like they just took advantage of someone looking for her first bike to push a bike they needed to get rid of. And, especially after I've seen how well I can be treated elsewhere, they really have no excuse...unless they just absolutely don't know what they are talking about...and in that case, they shouldn't be in the bicycle business. Edit: in a effort to make up to me what happened, the store owner reached out to me and seemed genuinely concerned. I appreciate the gesture, but as I live way out of the area now, I cannot try the store again to see if their training and equipment knowledge has improved. Spin City is exceptional at what they do! I recently purchased a new (used) Felt Z85 from Spin City and couldn't have asked for a better experience. When I first went into the store I was interested in a Giant Contend 1 road bike and after riding a couple of bikes--the Felt being one of them--I had Kyle (the store owner) order me a new Contend 1. After a few days I realized how much I liked the Felt that I had ridden and called Kyle to change my mind on what bike I was going to get. Even though he had already ordered my bike he didn't have a problem with me changing my order--that's about as good as customer service gets! When I got to Spin City to pick up my bike Aaron spent a good 30-45 minutes with me on the trainer fitting the bike down to the T, adjusting the saddle, post, and anything else he could see that needed adjusted, until the bike felt perfect. When it came time to pick out some accessories--bottle cages, tire pump, saddle bag, and others--there were no attempts to up-sell me on the most expensive products, just honest opinions when I asked for them. I have been to a few different bike shops in Central Illinois over the years and Spin City is by far the best! read more

These guys are amazing! I had a wheel that was bent, because I stupidly ran the bike over (my kids left it in the driveway) as I backed out of the garage! I brought it in to the store to see what could be done with it, expecting the worst. The mechanic told me it was basically a goner and should be replaced, for about $80 parts and labor. I said, "Great! Let's do it!!" Then he said, "Well, I'd be happy to, but with EVERYONE getting all of their old bikes fixed because they can't go to the gym because of Covid-19, there is a MASSIVE SHORTAGE OF BIKE PARTS- including wheels and all kinds of other things for basic repairs!!" Who would have thought??!! I asked him what we could do- and he said, "Well, it's a little unorthodox, but if you trust me, I have a work-around..." To which I replied, "Umm, ok, go for it!" So get this- he looks at the wheel in a couple of spots, looks at the concrete floor, heaves the wheel over his head, and slams it down on the ground! I jumped a little bit, but was AMAZED to see that the wheel was basically pretty dang close to straight!! It took almost no time, he got my kid's bike rideable again, and he barely charged me anything- saving me almost $60 over a part that I'd have to wait probably a month to get anyway!! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!! Thanks guys!! read more

This place is the best! I love how the new owner designed the place. Everyone is very nice and helpful. Also all of the employees are wearing masks. All the bikes are top notch. Everything is reasonably priced. Finally everything is very sanitary especially the bathroom. read more

I've shopped with these guys for several years. It's the perfect blend of a small town shop where they remember your name, preferences, and even bike measurements. They also have the bigger city feel too with the different brands they carry. The shop has a really cool atmosphere and the guys are very professional too.
