My daughter went to Spin LA in July and honestly had the time of her life. From the moment we got involved, it felt welcoming and genuine. Some reviews say it's a scam and I disagree. This is absolutely not a scam. Yes, it costs money and it's not cheap, but it is high quality and a one-stop shop. In fact, my daughter received offers from several reputable agents and signed with a talent agency BECAUSE of Spin LA. As an added bonus, we met incredible resources along the way, including Jenn Boyce (Hollywood Prep), who has provided amazing advice and ongoing support. Joe and Jenn were exactly what mjy daugther and I needed as newcomers to the industry. Beyond the professional opportunities, my daughter bonded with kids from her acting studio (Hooray Performers Academy!) and made new friends, which made the experience even more special...she still texts with them on a weekly basis! Updated Review - Based on Further Research It's been a while, but I recently saw a comment asking me to respond to my original review -- so here's an update with more context. We paid $900 for the SPiN program and $400 for headshots. The photographer was nice (Russian, like me) and admitted that for the $400 price, he could have taken more time if he were paid directly. The photoshoot lasted about 5 minutes. The program included around six or seven Zoom classes, which often started late or felt disorganized. We joined because it was advertised as casting exposure, but in reality, we paid to attend classes just to get brief feedback from two agents, who later said they weren't interested when we followed up. I also spoke to other parents in the group, none of our kids got cast or signed. Since posting my original review, I shared the SPiNLA.tv website with ChatGPT for an unbiased analysis. It pointed out several red flags: vague promises and a "pay-to-play" model often seen in what's called a "talent mill." That confirmed what I had already felt ,this wasn't a scam in the legal sense, but it absolutely did not live up to the hope and hype that was sold to us. My husband and I were fully committed, always on time, had a headset, resume, everything. But for us, it led nowhere. We've since joined a legitimate agency that doesn't charge us upfront and have gotten real casting opportunities. You seemed kind personally, but I stand by my original review: this was overpriced and misleading. This started as an open audition for the Bandaid commercial. They told us if my daughter is selected - they gonna call us back. Byanca was the only person present from Society Performers during audition - nobody else was there. That didn't feel right. After the audition, I received a text message. It said that my daughter made it to the second audition. When i asked what's the purpose of 2nd audition, I was texted back that my daughter will be evaluated and will proceed with training so Academy can showcase her. What happened to Bandaid commercial?.. not a word about it. I came to conclusion that this is how they lure you into "auditions" - using big brand names. After "audition" I also received an email with the prices for training packages ($995-$4900 for 8 to 32 hours). Showcases that supposed to promote your kid after training are held online. In other words after you pay all this money you don't even get to meet anyone in person However they do offer SPiN Nationals event (another $5900 NOT including hotel room + extra fees like $300 for gala concert) where you get to spend 5 days in LA, do some more training and supposedly have a chance to meet with agents/talent managers/casting directors in person. However, small print reads that nothing is guaranteed: "presence of agent does not guarantee representation". This is where our journey with Society Performers has ended - after first audition. Even though I had very little interaction with Society Performers (first audition was less than 5 minutes), I am giving only one star because I felt misleaded and lured into this audition by false advertisement. Because initially, this event was advertised as an audition for Bandaid (and few other famous brands) commercial. And of course, it was not. If Society Performers Academy would be honest upfront and stated that audition was for the purpose of evaluation and further training with Society Performers and future possibility of promotion amongst possible agents/casting directors AFTER several large investments of money - I would not have come to the audition. Even though my daughter is upset and crying, I tried to keep emotions out of this review. I hope this helps someone to make a right decision. read more

Regardless, we head in bright eyed and bushy tailed with all my daughters hopes in her mind because in the open call ad it said something along the lines of "do you think your child has what it takes to be in a Disney show" Anywayyyyy.. she delivers her commercial.. she delivers the last minute script NOT THE BEST OBVIOUSLY. Then it all comes rolling downhill. The words that come out of the agents mouth are "Awesome you passed the audition! Now did you read your email and see which package you want?" My heart was so happy for my daughter SHE MADE IT. But my brain was so confused? What packages? We'll I've added the photo so you can see. Then of course I ask why do we need to pay for a package I thought this was an audition? Agent says "it was, you're auditioning to be a part of S.P.A" you didn't say that! So I look at the packages and see $995 as the first package which would include one showcase for which they will provide one script and monologue, and a resume consult. Packages go up to $4900. $995-$4900 for a training program for 8 hours? I work in tourism I get inflation but what am I paying for really if it only takes 8 hours. Not to mention after these kids do the 8 hour "training program" it does NOT guarantee an agent or part. Which is where I assumed the fees would start.. Now heading home not enrolled in the program so my child is in shambles because she thought if she did her very best she would be on a Disney show.. because let's face it look at your odds. Of course I think my child could be that ONE in a MILLION SHOT. But if they hold multiple auditions around America, with 240+kids and call back 24 which is how many thy called back this time and all 24 sign up for even the basic package the company gets $23880.. and they don't spend more than 8 hours to market your child. My daughter attended SPIN LA this past week and had an amazing time. The coaching the kids received at the event was both constructive and kind, helping them prepare for their competitions in front of the agents. When my lil boy auditioned and was chosen for spin LA we were informed that in a few weeks agents would be calling for auditions, etc. Never recieved a call. I asked for my money back taht I paid towards spin LA because I had something happen that would prevent me from going. Liz garrett told me that she would move him to the next spin. I talked to Adia and she said well Liz has the final say for refunds. So everytime I wrote an email she would ignore it. I finally asked to talk w brandon. I was told he was in Asia. I told her i really needed my money back because i couldnt affored the hotel or gala tocketd , plane fare etc. She simply said sorry no refunds. I never signed a contract and am about to start court papers against the company. You are my last resort before i do. I am aware that certain people do not carry cps permits.1500.00 is what i paid towards it and I would like it back.Having a bond is in fact for this purpose and if i have to file a lien against it I will. My daughter has had the absolute pleasure of being a part of Society Performers Academy since 2019. Since she first started at the academy, she has taken countless classes with a number of incredible teachers in both acting and singing. And the owner Joe Lorenzo has been there every step of the way. There is no denying how important Society Performers Academy is to him. He familiarizes himself with the kids and parents on a personal level and responds to questions or concerns super quickly. More often than not he is responding to an email within hours of me sending it out. I have watched my daughter grow in confidence and abilities and she has developed an understanding of the business and all the work and dedication it requires to be successful. Joe Lorenzo and his staff do not promise instant stardom for these kids. Nor should they, as the entertainment industry is a tough business. But what they do provide is a safe atmosphere to develop their skills and grow to be as successful as possible. January 2024 was special for us because our daughter finally got to attend Society Performers in nationals (SPiN). Five amazing days at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles among countless other children from all over the United States and even internationally. It was a melting pot of like-minded kids and young adults who shared similar interests and motivations. Our daughter trained and competed in front of several agents and received numerous callbacks. She performed in the Showcase event in front of a crowded ballroom. But more importantly, she made tons of new friends and gained more confidence than I could ever have imagined. Our daughter learned so much from the coaches and teachers before and during the event and was brimming with confidence after the event. She had never tried modeling before but with the help of some amazing coaches we watched her strut down the Gala stage and were SO proud of all the hard work and practice to get her there. I am saddened to read the negative comments on here regarding Joe and the Society Performers Academy. The comments that ARE negative are absolutely from people who did not read any information on what they were taking their child to or about the company in general. The script given is a bandaid commercial script so the child can perform it during the audition. It never said anything about children actually auditioning for a band aid commercial. The people who have left negative comments are uneducated (obviously about the program but I'm guessing in general as well) and are probably the people who think that getting into acting and modeling etc is easy or by chance. They are (I'm guessing here) the people who EXPECT from everyone but don't know how to earn. It's not easy. It's hard work and that hard work has to come from the person who wants to be in commercials, tv, movies, etc but ALSO from the people who have to TRAIN the aspiring actors/actresses/models/dancers and singers. Joes company and Joe are in NO WAY shape or form a "scam" they are 100% forthcoming with all information about themselves and the program. There is obviously a cost because people don't train people for free. Joe and his program are NOT doing it for the money, but of course fees exist. He does what he does because he loves it, he's passionate and he knows that it's hard to get into the business. He HELPS people achieve their dreams! The cost of his program also varies depending on what people choose. It's a CHOICE for people to join his training and program and it's absolutely worth the cost. Name another person or company that spends their time training, coaching, helping people who want to get into the business. I'll wait.... My son did the SPiN LA open call in Honolulu having zero prior experience with acting. I was skeptical with low expectations because I did not know much about the business, but fast forward and a month later after signing up for the Academy and my son signed with one of the top youth talent agencies in LA! You simply cannot take that path on your own, especially not living in LA or knowing anyone in the biz. The caliber of coaching to prepare him for showcase was top notch, with coaches who have professional experience as actors themselves- just look at their bios. The SPiN team is excellent at spotting who has what it takes, not wasting your time or money if it's not for you, while being clear, kind, and honest every step of the way. We met Joe in March when we brought our youngest son (who had expressed interest in acting) to an audition in Long Beach. To be totally honest I signed up because I saw an ad on FB for a Society Performers audition with a picture of Max Thunderman who is my son's favorite Thunderman. IYKYK. We went to the audition, got a callback and eventually got invited to SPiN. We did not say yes immediately because of the negative reviews. However, after doing our research we as a family decided the opportunity would benefit my son who thrives on experiences like SPiN. In his exact words, "mom being in front of an audience makes me feel alive." Leading up to SPiN, you get a weekly schedule of available acting coaches and are encouraged to take as many as you can. You have access to a professional photographer and a guide on how to prepare your child's resume. All while Joe emails detailed information to help you prepare. Yes, you will have to buy costumes and outfits for your child to wear and depending where you live book a hotel room so be prepared. But the costume request are not outrageous and the room rates are fair. The first day of the event was a little chaotic for me because of the amount of people, the process is slow. Be sure to read all of the instructions. Unfortunately, I didn't but met a mom nice enough to share information with me. I also emailed Joe several times throughout the event and got a response from him almost immediately. From there your child has access to acting coaches, a dance coach, a singing coach, a modeling coach and a producer. They have practices for commercial, monologue and scenes. They later bring in talent agents and talent managers to judge your kids on whatever talent category they are participating in. During this time the talent agent and talent manager has a chance to see what your can do and decide if they want to work with your child. On the last day you are provided with a callback sheet listing the talent agent and talent managers interested in your child. You are then given the opportunity to meet with them. My son had 19 call backs. We took the time to meet with everyone. So yes, Joe and SPiN is legit. At the gala during the final show, your child gets to showcase what they learn and perform for an audience on a stage with bright lights, good sound and a larger than life screen- the real deal. They also receive awards for the different talent categories, most callbacks and an overall winner. Joe brought Max Thunderman (Jack Griffo) to present the kids awards. My son won a couple of medals and got it presented by Jack Griffo. He was beaming from ear to ear all night long. Jack also took the time to take pictures with all of the participants on the red carpet. If you really believe your child has what it takes to be in the entertainment industry, Society Performers is a great way to start. Joe is a good guy who loves what he does. He treats you like a human and is easy to talk to. It definitely showed this weekend at SPiN. I know this is long but I told myself I would come back to leave a review after SPiN, especially if the experience was different from all of the negative reviews left on here. I knew my daughter needed to do acting school. One day I filled out a form and ended up taking my daughter to an info session. We got the script and she memorized. I wasn't "all in." I will say that going into this, I was a bit uncertain with the value we would get for our money. We found Society Performers Academy through an IG ad that looked like an audition to get your kid on Network TV. Yes, it was an audition, but the audition is to determine whether your kid has what it takes to join their academy and train to become true performers. Our initial interface felt like we might be getting suckered into an MLM or timeshare scam, but IT WAS NOT. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL that we stuck it out with SPA. That experience only improved once meeting Joe Lorenzo. He is the owner and is so incredibly personable. Our daughter participated in an initial course package that included acting classes and a showcase in front of 2 agents. Although she did not get signed at the time, she went on to take additional courses and prepare for SPA's Nationals conference (Society Performers In Nationals (SPiN)). Oh my goodness. As adults we have the exposure to grow our career by networking and attending conference workshops. This is similar to the experience we had at SPiN. After 3 days of intense training, fun modeling workshops, and a dance party. Our 6 year old auditioned in front of 32 agents and casting directors. Not only was she much more prepared, she was confident. She ended up getting 11 callbacks with these agencies. She really liked that she had the option to follow-up with interested agencies and pick one that she felt suited her interests and made her most comfortable. We could not have asked for a better way to kick off our daughter's dream to pursue something in the Arts. So a BIG THANK YOU to all the coaches and staff at Society Performers for all the fun, help and guidance. The online zoom sessions are convenient and secure. It came in handy for our summer classes. It was fun just listening to the talents run their lines with each other or watch the kids trying to keep up with Ms. Day'nah and her moves. I would give zero stars if I could. They just continue to take your money no matter how many auditions your kiddos attend. I'm still getting emails from Byanca for "we missed you at the last audition!" Right... no one ever followed up with a text, email, or even a call after my daughter's 3rd "audition". I'd like to say a few things about this place for parents that have no idea what they are getting into.. DO NOT , I repeat, DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE!! The acting class is so poorly organized. They simply take your money and give you the cheapest experience in return. The photo shoot was so unprofessional and in someone's garage. Not a studio! Then on the final SHOWCASE, they said you will perform in front of several agencies. It's only 2 that show up and they had the kids perform on Zoom. It was such a waste of time and MONEY! My granddaughter got a partial scholarship from them but we still had to pay 1000 and it was NOT WORTH EVEN 10 dollars for the experience we received.. Joe Lorenzo owns this dump and it's so fake!! They charged $1900 for classes with no Real coaching I wish I would've seen the reviews BEFORE I let my daughter attend the owner Joe is a little unprofessional. I have just enrolled my children within this program. It's unfortunate to read all the reviews that are calling this agency a scam. Realistically, if you and/or your children are genuinely interested in getting into the entertainment industry, you'll understand that there is a cost associated with this. The costs of lessons, headshots, resume building and ongoing support all adds up and can be quite costly. Not to mention, living in certain locations can limit/restrict access to some of these resources. Being that I myself was interested in getting into acting at a younger age, I too have attended open casting calls for agencies. I was aware of the process and what it would entail. I did research on the company before I signed up for anything. And therefore, I didn't feel the same experience of being "blindsided" or "scammed" as others have commented. I prepared both of my children for what to expect. The reality is, the entertainment industry is INCREDIBLY hard to break into. Even more so without any formal training or experience. If it is something thst is a genuine passion, you're not going to expect it to just land in your lap, you have to put in the work. As I said, we have just enrolled in the program, therefore it is difficult for me to comment on the quality of the classes; however, with that being said, so far I have felt as though the entire process has been very professional. All communications I have received in a very timely manner. Including their working materials. My children are both very excited to participate in this program. Overall, I believe that they will get out of it what they put into it. If their dreams were to be a hockey player or a musician I would be spending thousands of dollars each year so, why would my childrens' interest in acting be any different. Even if they do not get any immediate call backs, I still see significant value in the program based solely on the classes, the resume building, and the headshots alone. As my children have shown an interest in performing for quite some time, I have evaluated the costs of various classes and agencies and comparatively, this is an excellent opportunity! Is this company a for profit business, yes! Is it a scam, no! The parents who show up at an audition with their young children, without even knowing what they are auditioning for and/or expecting their children are going to be casted into a professional role with little to no professional experience, are the same people who are leaving the negative reviews. And if you think that this company is a "scam" it's very likely that your children probably shouldn't be getting into entertainment anyways. The harsh truth of the business is, you'll be left disappointed more often than not if you go into it expecting your kid to be casted. Cause they're probably gonna get 99 no's before they get their first yes. read more
