Never dealt with such an unprofessional doctor before, only wanted to refer me back to the doctor he criticized or refer me to someone else. Never provided a treatment plan. Who doesn't treat a patient who has back issues and has been referred to them? He claimed the other doctors had stolen his bullets. Saw another doctor who is doing a branch block and then an an ablation. I'm told that's a very common option for back issues. Glad to have nothing further with this business. I have been trying to get this place to administer shots in my back for the nerve damage and bulging discs. This is a workers comp claim and they just won't seek approval for the procedure! Dr Gurai has been the only physician who has been able to reply to Workers Compensation in a manner that was required, to get approval from them to move forward for my brother's needed care. Dr. Raman Gurai was terrible to deal with. He was impatient, he didn't review my records, he went way too fast as if he just had a triple espresso, and didn't listen to my concerns. To top it off, he was condescending and billed me inaccurately. I would not trust Dr. Gurai to perform any type of procedure on me.... ever! read more

I have to start off my saying that Dr. Raman Gurai was great. The problem I have is the office staff. I was told just today (Wed), and my procedure was scheduled for Friday that I need to be off a certain medication for one week prior. But No one bothered to tell or call me from Dr. Gurai office to tell me until a few days before the procedure was supposed to happen, and it was not even their office that called me but the surgery center. I think it was important information to know that I should have stopped that medication prior, and be given the surgery packet that was supposed to be given to me. I had to work really hard to get the day off for surgery from my job and now it is canceled do to incompetence of office staff. I will not be returning to the office, I am beyond upset. You can not even reach a sole by telephone, you have to text them. This is so very unprofessional. read more

Dr. Gurai and his medical staff have been treating me for spinal stenosis for the past year. I have been through all of the trials and they have come up with a solution for my back pain. After nerve studies and cortisone injections we have decided to do an ablation treatment. I am so thankful I used the Spine and Nerve Diagnostic Center. They were able to figure out my pain issues. Then I finally get through 2 months later and share my experience with them and she hangs up on me and text me an appt for a month later. Dr Gurai approaches his patients from a place of concern and caring. He is a compassionate listener, allowed ample time to clearly identify symptoms and how my injury/issue is impacting limitations and quality of my life. All procedures were clearly and thoroughly explained. Of specific mention: Dr Gurai has performed a nerve conduction test and a hip injection, so far. He has a gentle touch and uses a distracting technique that makes procedures completely tolerable. I tend to be a bit anxious before invasive procedures, but Dr Gurai has a quiet confidence and a way of putting his patients at ease. Unbelievable. Rhiannon, who identified herself as a referrals and authorizations supervisor from SNDC, called my doctor's office and lied about me. She said "patient called our office numerous times yelling at office staff due to referral issues". Every lie Rhiannon said about me is preserved in the online records of her call to my medical group. Rhiannon, thanks to you, I have a blemish on my patient record . You have negatively impacted my relationship with my doctor and my medical group. All 3 times that I spoke with your office, I was calm and reasonable. I asked nothing more to be heard and not to be yelled at, in the hopes we had a common goal to coordinate my benefits so I could switch to SNDC for pain management. Clearly that is not the case. I followed the instructions that your office gave me in order to be seen. I was authorized by my insurance to see Dr. Gurai, and my doctor sent the referral as your office requested after your office confirmed receipt of insurance authorization. For your staff to insist that my medical group wouldn't let me be seen by your office is so obviously incorrect. My insurance and medical group have both since confirmed I could be seen by SNDC. So what is the disconnect? I can only conclude that this office does not want to help patients if the billing part isn't lined up exactly the way they want it. If someone had simply informed me that they'd had trouble billing in situations like mine, and they didn't want to take me as a patient as a result, I would have understood. But to waste my time, yell at me, hang up on me, lie to me, and then call my medical group to lie about me is unacceptable, unethical, and unscrupulous. Shame on you SNDC. I recommend to avoid Spine & Nerve Diagnostic Center based on their policies and office staff. There are many reviews of every SNDC location (all under the same ownership) with a common theme of office staff mistreating patients. Office staff is a disaster. I've been trying to get an epidural for the past 9 months. I was adamant about having anesthesia and so they got it pre approved then the office decided to schedule it without anesthesia... without asking me after I insisted it be with anesthesia.. Then the dr was going to prescribe treatment without an mri or ct of the area I was experiencing pain at and have potentially had surgery Second try at epidural and I was in track for a month later. Out of the blue I get a vm from the office saying they moved the location and the date 2 months out without my permission or even asking me... read more

this is one on the worse pain management outfits. They treat their patients with no respect . they write up false information and lie to to your face and then they try to cover it up. The quality of the service is a one star. The doctors and PA attempts to be polite but in return comes out to be condescending. Please use another S&N center . I don't feel these doctors and PA and the desk help are being honest withthere snear eye glances snd snickering. I have back pain from working with children. I've picked up and cuddled thousands of kids over the years. As a result I have issues with L4 and L5 in my spine. Dr. Gurai recommended an epidural. I was so nervous thinking it was going to be like when you have a baby and they stick that huge needle in your back. Still the pain was enough to convince me to go. To my surprise I was in and out in like 15 minutes. He said the needle would not hurt and it did not. I could not believe how easy it was. All my fret was for nothing. BLUE SHIELD PATIENTS BEWARE!!!!!!!! I met with Dr. Gurai on Monday, 5 February 2024. During that visit, Dr. Gurai exhibited a complete lack of integrity an showed he is void of integrity. If his animosity toward Blue Shield of California is prevalent in SPINE AND NERVE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER - FOLSOM's medical staff medical decisions are clearly at risk of being guided by this man's vindictiveness. At first, I thought it was the 4" Star of David tattoo on my forearm, but as the visit progressed, it became clear that Dr. Gurai's ill will had its foundation in resentment over the contracts HE signed, agreed to and entered into with my wife's employer - Blue Shield of California. Once Dr. Gurai found out my wife was employed by Blue Shield, he spent the rest of the visit trying to shame me for the persecution and maltreatment he believes he is suffering under as the result of treating Blue Shield patients. (I guess I should have told him I'm not covered by Blue Shield) After a rant of complaints, including claiming that Blue Shield refuses to pay claims and if they do pay a claim, the payment is a small percentage of what Medi-cal pays. He emphasized that if I were to need a procedure, Blue Shield refuse the claim along with several other demonstrably false statements about Blue Shield. Dr. Gurai must have seen the "Airborne" lapel pin on my hat and asked if I was in the military. Subsequently said: " Well, thank you for your service... BUT NOT FOR YOUR WIFE'S." Dr. Gurai then made a few more disjointed and false claims about Blue Shield and how he was being screwed by Blue Shield then said: "And you're OK with her working for them?" followed by an expression of disgust. If the physicians at SPINE AND NERVE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER - FOLSOM harbor this level of animosity toward any insurance provider, the managing partners should consider not accepting that carrier's policies rather than subjecting patients to the sophomoric diatribes of a physician who isn't sharp enough to read the contract to which he apparently agreed, and does not understand that his contractual complaints against a patient's insurance provider should clearly never be the focal point of any medical procedure. I have contacted Blue Shield (even though I am not covered under their policies) and provided them with my notes on the visit with the suggestion they protect their patients from Dr. Gurai by dropping SPINE AND NERVE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER - FOLSOM from their list of providers. I don't want to give the place even one star. I saw Dr. Natalya Shtutman---how she became a MD baffles me. I went to this place due to lower back pain. I spent over 15 minutes telling her about how I was unable to stand up/sit straight due to amount of pain. I also told her about my history of back problems, like how I spent 2 years in a wheelchair. At the conclusion of this she said she was recommending I go to physical therapy because "I had bad posture." Well of course I had bad posture when I saw her--because I was unable to stand up/sit up straight due to pain I was in!! Also, in her notes for this appointment is this: We will continue to emphasize the importance of lifestyle modifications including diet, exercise, and weight optimization for musculoskeletal health, chronic pain conditions, as well as overall health. During my time with her on June 3 there was no discussion of diet and/or weight optimization. Since she didn't ask me about my diet then she didn't know I have a Mediterranean diet and have had for many years, so there is no need for diet modification. As for weight optimization, I'm 6'1'' and weigh 165lbs: I need no weight optimization. At my follow up appointment I waited for 40minutes past my appointment time; everyone who was there when I got there and everyone who came in after me had been taken in. No staff said I would be seen soon. I went to reception window, asked for my co-pay back, and left. I filed a complaint on her and this place with Medical Board of California. read more

I had back injections from Dr.Guai. Dr. is very calming, made me feel relaxed and the injections were very tolerable. More importantly, the injections were successful. The entire staff at this clinic is excellent and work well together. Chelsea and Sabrina are outstanding. They listen, they care and are compassionate. The doctors have been responsive to my pain needs and willing to work with me and my insurance. Dr. Karvelas gives the best injection, ever. Went in with headache issues. Dr. Gurais' apathy was palpable. On the initial consultation he walked out twice. He did not seem to want to listen to what I had to say about my issues. I had steroid shots and now have continual pain that I never had before, along with the headaches. They never looked at an MRI not did they take any X-rays prior to the injections. Dr. Gurai didn't even appear to be present during the consult or the injections. I felt like I was his 100th patient of the day and he could care less. I had a follow up with the PA Todd. When I told him what was going on he said he never heard of this and ordered an MRI. I will not be going back there. Apparently they do not understand the concept of first do no harm. Horrible, uncaring treatment by the medical staff. It appears as if Dr. Gurai believes he knows everything and that makes him a very dangerous medical practioner. I am now saddled with trying to find out what they injured and how to make it better. read more

I've been going to S&N for nearly a decade and they've been exceedingly helpful in managing my back pain stemming from a work injury. Work comp is endlessly frustrating to deal with but these guys have always advocated for me and helped me get the treatment I need. This new location is awesome and all the staff are friendly, welcoming and on top of everything. I just recently had an EMG here which can be quite uncomfortable but I was pleasantly surprised! Dr. Gurai was very gentle and answered all of my questions. My regular Dr is Chelsea. She's very sweet and knowledgeable. It's obvious to me that she genuinely cares about her patients. I would have been a new patient at the Folsom clinic, however the new patient coordinator for the last 8 years was so incredibly rude and down-right nasty to me and told me not to ever try again to contact their office. While told they would continue my on going pain management the first time I met with a doctor he talked about a condition I do not have and how that's not treatable with opioids. It took me along time to fill out all the incoming paperwork and he must not have even looked at it. It was very disappointing.
