Billing makes no sense.Divided bill up for 4 months 45.00 a month.I have to do that because bill is outrageous high not worth using. Paid a payment of 50 dollars last month and one month it said nothing due.Well Spire came out today to shut me off for 155 dollars owed.AND BROUGHT THE SHERIFF WITH A TECH AND A BACK HO TRAILER BLOCKING TRAFFIC ON MY STREET.4 guys and the SHERIFF!!! BY far the worst customer service experience ever. The service window sings incompetency in lack of skilled technicians. there is no way you service an entire state and lack the man power to set appointments with a respectable service window. 7A to 8p is not what I will call customer service. To a technician may run over it's time it's fine. Have enough decency to contact the next customer and let them know that you're going to be late. at this point, you are stuck at home all day until someone shows up to your home to connect your services. Spire showed up unannounced while no one in my family was home to change our gas meter. I arrived home to find a note saying we would have to call a technician to have our service restored. That, alone, is pretty bad. Well, the next morning I call and am told they can give me no time window whatsoever as to when a technician might arrive and they may or may not call me when en route. Sat around all day, but finally had to leave later in the afternoon. Arrived home at 6pm to find another note saying that they had come at 5:30pm. Called back the next morning and received more of the same. I guess I'm going to have to quit my job in order to sit around and wait on them. They are the worst. read more

I've never had any issues, until today. One month behind on bill, and they came and cut off our gas today when no one was home. No phone calls, nothing. Just a note hanging on my door. I paid balance and also had to pay over $140 reconnection fee. Now someone 18 or older has to be here for them to turn it back on. But, they had no problem cutting it off when no one was home. Guy didn't ring doorbell either, we have a Ring, or I could have at least talked to him via doorbell. It's pretty crappy to do this to someone that's one month past due, it slipped my mind, and they aren't high tech enough to have an app that can be used. Was also told there will be a $50 payment due on my next bill. It's such a rip off. Almost $200 I have to pay above the actual gas bill. And no one bothered to call to check on payment, or call to tell us it was being disconnected. Horrible company. read more

Been A customer since Alagasco days when the company actually had veteran workers that cared for the customer and knew what they were doing. These new Spire employees don't have any understanding about life just some robots answering the phone and when they send someone out to your home..that person shows up to to make a small problem worse. Their workers hit my car, smashed in my side mirror, but they are unwilling to take responsibility for it since I don't have video proof. They also knocked down portions of my neighbor's retaining wall and said they'd fix it, but haven't done a thing. Pathetic, unethical, cheap company. 11/18/24, Mark N Tim Elders, we called Spire this morning and in under a minute, a very nice young lady named Ty answered our call, and she said a man would be out this morning to relight our gas water heater, (they put in new meters last week, gas was turned off). Within moments after our call to Spire, we heard a knock at the door. A very nice man named Grady fixed our problem and said within 35 minutes, we would have hot water again. Writing from Mobile, AL, where Spire services our gas utilities but does not have an actual office. As a customer for my own residential needs, it has never been too horrible because everything is online. As a professional trying to get gas on for an estate however, things have not been easy. The first customer service representative I spoke to informed me that if I wanted to pay by check, I would have to bring it to a Piggly Wiggly (???) and they may or may not accept it (?????). Why do I have to go to a grocery store to pay a gas bill? I asked if she could email the actual bill so I could have proof of what we were paying for and she said no. I know not many individuals still pay bills with checks or require a paper bill stating what is owed and by whom, but many businesses still operate this way out of necessity. I called back to speak to someone else, because the gas is required to be turned on as part of an inspection for the buyers of the house. They told me that the decedent had written bad checks in the past so we are not allowed to pay with a check at all. Why had the first lady not told me this, and why does this affect an estate account with a different Tax ID? From now on, any realtor we work with on selling estate property will know to include in the contracts that gas will NOT be on during inspection because Spire is impossible to work with. read more

This company bought out the gas company in our region and immediately closed down the office downtown. They don't show you what you've paid or a breakdown of your bills. Mississippi customers are not allowed to created accounts online and check their balance or see their statements. The paper statements the company does send doesn't show you when you've paid or give you a breakdown of your statement. Only that you owe hundreds of dollars for "usage." You can't speak to anyone in person if you have an issue and they've been raising their prices ever since the acquisition. This past winter I was charge over 1,000 USD in a two month period. The prices just keep going up. Meanwhile, their CEOs rake in anywhere from 1 million to 5 million per year. Spire Inc. is a truly terrible, predatory, and amoral company. read more

if I had the choice to change providers I would. customers service is terrible, it's impossible to escalate an issue, billing is impossible to reach, they delight in cutting off services to charge more money and fees and will cut you off with no notice and then it's an act of congress to get turned back on. I have an outstanding balance due to a credit they did not apply, they call about for this though - sheesh. everything is money money money - zero regard for people or customers. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. They don't have a clue how to deal with potential customers. After moving, we spent 6 months being told they don't provide service to our area. After which we found out all our neighbors have it. Finally got through to Conversions Dept. they sent someone to give us a quote for running internal lines . We tried to tell them WE DON'T HAVE A LINE TO THE HOUSE OR A METER. The guy giving the quote says we need those first. Yes we told them that. Finally after 4 more months of of contact, they run the line to the house. And tell us to call to get the meter installed. After another month of trying that, they tell us we're waiting on you to call for the inspection. We call the City, and the inspector says No, Spire is supposed to call us. Even he is frustrated dealing with them. The keep telling us they will call but if you miss their call, you go to the bottom of the list. This is why a monopoly is not good. read more

If I could leave a less of a star I would. They gave no notice that they were going to upgrade my meter then when I saw the note on the door 'we missed you' I had No gas. That's no showering no cooking. This is horrible. If there was another company I would switch; it's not like they have been a great company to work with in the past either. I'm just so upset I can't go to work and have to wait around until it gets turned on because they have to come into the house. This is so frustrating!!!!!!! Absolutely terrible customer service. They turned my gas off with 0 notice which is fine, once I realized it I paid what needed to be paid and had someone scheduled the next day to come turn it back on. I called them to see if someone could come that day and turn it back on because I have a newborn at home and they said there's no circumstance that allows same day appointments. I had someone scheduled for the following day and in the afternoon when someone still hadn't shown up I called them back to check and the lady said not only did I not have someone scheduled to come that day and they still wouldn't do same day appointments but she tried to claim that I never even called the previous day (even though I'm 99% sure it's the exact same lady I talked to). All of this knowing I have a baby at home. read more

I received my bill 3 days after the delinquent date printed on it. I paid online but contacted customer service to let them know what happened. I have paid on time for over 10 years and didn't want to be listed as a customer who doesn't pay on time, especially since there was nothing that I could have done. The customer rep didn't care at all and said that they printed the bill and "why it took so long to arrive is beyond our control." It's not reasonable for Spire to mail bills so that they reach the customer after the delinquent date. read more

I have been with spire for about 6 years. Never really had any problems with them til the last year. They send you a bill out that might be due let's say on the 4th and the bill makes it on the 3rd giving you one day to pay it and that can't be good business practices. Bills coming late it's like they trying to make you pay a late fee or reconnected fee and shut your gas off. My second issue is one month I use the gas very moderately like 3 times that month for about 20 mins just enough to warm the house up then I shut it off. Next time I get a bill it's almost $200. How did they come up with that amount. House is super small 3 bedroom. I barely use it in December and got a $15 bill which is about right. Just got my January bill and I barely used it because it's been 60-70 degrees outside and I get a $100 bill. They need to be investigated for bad business practices. read more

This company is horrible. They don't communicate, they don't inform you of issues with your service. They literally just showed up one day unannounced and changed out my gas meter without permission randomly. I have ADHD which causes me issues with paying my bills on time and literally every other utility provider in my area knows this, has it on file and calls me when I miss a payment. Not spire. They just show up again without saying a word, and shut off my service. What's funny is my gas bill was $88. How did I find out? When I went to take a shower and the hot water was off. So I had to pay $138 do get it turned back on, spire now has to refund me $50 which just goes to show you the level of Tom foolery from them, and now I have to give up a entire day of pay to wait around for someone to come turn a valve. Why? Because they have to check for leaks after. Mind you no one has to check anything when they just show up and shut it off. I wish I could give them zero starts because it's more then this company deserves. read more

What a bunch of frauds. Had someone come out and setup my gas. Meter read 65 units after 10 days. We called and said this is ridiculous we need someone to come out and look at it. Was a faulty meter. They replaced it. When I asked about compensation for the high bill they said they didn't see any discrepancies. HUH?! Then why did you replace the meter? I rarely leave reviews , but this company simply sucks, and if you have the option to do all electric please do. This not a company I would recommend. They will be quick to cut you off , and slow to reconnect. Very slow, you have to wait on them all day regardless if you have work or school , to reconnect because they do not have scheduled appointments, you have to pause your busy schedule to accommodate this unprofessionalism. Do not miss the reconnect appointment that you have no idea when they are coming, no one can tell you an exact time until the technician feels like communicating , you cannot get another appointment until the very next day after you paid your money. Idk what system that is but to all future customers please be careful with this company , they have some of the worst customer service . Customer service is completely unknowledgeable,and do not care. Even if you are not getting reconnection your bill like others mentioned will not seem right.
