The Prop House is exactly that, a huge storage facility stacked floor to ceiling with props of all sorts. When a film crew plans to shoot in New Mexico, you can bet they come to this place, first. Furniture, light fixtures, period clothing (there's an entire aisle of costumes from Dances With Wolves, randomly, and genuine WW2 shirts and jackets from vets who donated them after the war), signage, oh goodness the hats!, pianos and organs, pool tables, knit blankets... it's astonishing. Most of the articles fit an Old West narrative because, surprise, we shoot a lot of Westerns around here -- but there's plenty of modern stuff, too. They rent in bulk to studios, but they also lend some of the stuff out, free, to aspiring college film students. Hours are by appointment only. As an event planner, my imagination ran wild. If anybody knows where I can find a saloon, believe me, I'm your huckleberry.

When you walk in they have set up many interactive Halloween decorative mechanical characters, there is a shark tunnel and the employees are all in the Halloween spirit! The store is laid out in a visible and clear way to look for what you are looking for (i.e. the kids section, masks, wigs, etc.) with a HUGE variety of from simple to the most complex Halloween costumes you can think of. There is a dressing room and plenty of mirrors. Also, ask for help with sizing. The prices are fair and good quality products. The staff is very friendly and the store is clean/well organized. These are the type of items that you will never find in a Halloween store. Some things are like walking into your great grandparents closet, that is they were really cool people. Virtually stepping back into time. Give yourself time to really explore this place. They didn't have what I wanted, but the young lady was able to point me into the right direction on what would work for me. Don't go in here expecting everything to be orderly, but that is the charm. They know where everything is so not chaos really, but you may need help finding that certain item. if you want to really impress someone with a costume this is the place to find it. Now if you want WalMart or Spirit Halloween cheap stuff don't expect it here. There are things here at low prices, but the vintage items cost more. They have gone out to find these hard to find items. So unless you plan to spend days searching thrift stores or antique shops just pull out the money & support this great place. You will not find a more unique costume place in Albuquerque.

Oh what a joyous time it is for me every year. It's been quite some time since I last stepped in a Spirit Halloween store, I wanna say long before Covid. I decided on a whim to return. I did notice this year there appears to be less locations than the previous years. I am a bit disappointed. Luckily this new one sprouted up. You name the costume they probably have it. I am a little disappointed this location had less of a selection of novelty items than I'm used to seeing displayed. I like to see window gels and cool items like cups and mugs. They did have some but it was a limited selection. Maybe the other locations have a better selection I hope. Other than that the place looked great! Very clean and organized. The staff was very friendly. I'll surely be back but I'll shop around the other locations in town to see if they offer more novelties.

And the prices were fairly reasonable - our friend walked out with a full western costume for around $70 for the whole weekend. Yes, the owner/manager was a bit of a character - he shamed me for my first hat choice (he was right) and told some kids to stop playing with the guns (what shop owner wouldn't) - but all in all the guy knows his stuff and really seems to care about costumes. Everything in here fits within a 5000 square-foot space and they have lots of furniture and clothing of course (mostly women's). They also have oddball items like hot wheels, comic books, and baseball cards. If you don't wanna pay that new furniture price, they definitely have a great assortment of couches, chairs, and tables for about half retail. Plenty of jewelry on display as well. They do have three dressing rooms, but no public bathroom.

What a pain to try and do business here. It was hardly worth the trip and I will not be back.

Suffice to say I was a bit surprised to see how many people were at the mall Saturday. The walkways were filled with people like a normal precovid day. It had been about a year since my last visit to Coronado and even with the limited capacity rules in place it didn't appear limited at all. Anyways Spencer's hasn't changed much since my last visit. There didn't appear to be anyone actively counting how many people were coming in and out of the suite but I counted at least 20 people while I was in there. The main purpose for my visit was to buy a novelty item for a gag I was planning to post on TikTok this weekend. Everything was neatly placed throughout the store. The staff was Covid compliant all wearing masks. Will I return? To be honest probably not any time soon just because of the pandemic I do not wish to be in such large crowds as I saw this past Saturday at the mall. Precovid that was norm but today it's not only surprising but concerning and I would rather not risk catching the rona before getting my vaccination. Nothing person I just wasn't very comfortable around all those people in one location so closely packed together.
