While the children were excitedly showing me items they found, she repeatedly yelled, "I just want some peace and quiet," while covering her ears. She also loudly mocked the song playing in the store, repeating the lyric, "If you ain't got no money, take your broke ass home," in front of us. Her comments and behavior were completely inappropriate, especially around young children who were simply behaving like excited kids in a store. I had every intention of making a purchase, but after witnessing her behavior, I chose not to spend my money there. As we were leaving, I looked in her direction because I was genuinely shocked by how she had acted, and she responded with a rude, "Can I help you?" in a confrontational tone. I have worked with children for years, and I understand they can be energetic. However, they were not being disruptive or disrespectful. Regardless, no customer--especially children--should be treated with such impatience, hostility, or disrespect. This was some of the worst customer service I have experienced. An employee, particularly someone in a management position, should be held to a much higher standard of professionalism. I hope this incident is taken seriously and addressed appropriately, as this behavior reflects very poorly on your business. I will not be returning or recommending this store based on this experience.

I've been to this location many times without any issues but my last visit was rife with problems. I bought an item that was supposed to have been 30% off plus as a premium member I was supposed to get an additional 10% off, so a total of 40% off. I left the store with receipt in hand and double checked the price. I noticed that the deductions were done incorrectly. The item rang up at a higher price than was marked on the item. Also as a premium member I was supposed to get the discount of the additional 10% off of my item. A woman who was working by the wrapping paper area asked if I needed help because she noticed that I just left and re-entered the store. She was the only Saving Grace, of the employees that worked that day because of her attentiveness and genuine kindness. I told her about the incorrect pricing and she told a man who was by the register the issue. I was met by him with disdain and an attitude. He was visibly annoyed that I needed assistance. He couldn't figure out the math in his head, didn't use the register to help him fix the issue, then after a while, went into his wallet, and gave me the money I was owed with an insult about how much it was that he had to give me. He treated me as though I was the problem. I also had an issue with the young woman who originally rang me up because I told her 3 times that I am a premium member and should receive 10% off of my purchase. That particular day premium members would receive a free small notebook as a bonus which were by the registers. She claimed that I was not a premium member, even though I am one. She was extremely dismissive and refused to give me what I was entitled to 10% off and a free small bonus notebook. I just went into a Barnes and Noble today 12/22/2025 and inquired about my membership. They confirmed that I do in fact have an active premium membership until October of 2026.

The bookseller will close this location after two decades of bookselling as its lease comes to an end and will move up the street to Atlantic Avenue, into the space formerly occupied by Barneys". Wow.. how did I miss this? I frequented the B and N for many years on Court. It was next to the cinema. It was always cool to wait in B and N before show time, grab a coffee, browse books and magazines. I was running an errand on Atlantic Avenue and wanted to pick up a magazine and Yelped closest B and N.. voila! This location hosts Saturday Story Times, author signings and special events. It has two floors and it describes its ambience as elegant "indie style". It does not have a Starbucks or public seating area. I found the space to be clean, spacious and shoppable. The team member who rang me up was friendly and professional. The location of this BN is quite smart: nearby Court Street has shops, restaurants and the Cobble Hill Cinema close by. I sm always in this area on my days off thus I see myself visiting this location. More to come...

I was never the kind of person to plop down on the floor or a chair of B&N and read for hours. First, buy the darn book and second, I have better things to do. I miss everything about the old B&N. The obvious reason is that the space in the former location was bi-level and big including Starbucks and restroom. This one has neither. While this B&N serves the main purpose of still existing (what can I say, I love physical books), there are some positives. Although it's smallish, the layout is attractive and there's a good inventory of books by category. It's likely you may not find a specific book, but if you're there to browse, it is also likely a purchase could be imminent. I think some folks have issues with accessibility and judging from the entrance stairs, I could see why. (BTW, there's a kid section downstairs). Overall, I appreciate having a B&N in the area. It doesn't resemble the one from the past, but it works for me. Things are changing everywhere--sign of the times.

They have a small selection of trading cards like One Piece, Pokemon and Weiss Schwarz. They seem to be a store for Weiss Scharwz more than anything since. They do carry figures and plushies as well. They do have nice Pokemon slabs but it's slightly above market price. They do carry sealed product it seems. I'll be coming back to this shop to see what products they carry.
