I placed an order for some gift wrap online one night and requested to pick it up in store, and it was ready for me the next day. The pick up process was super easy -- they say you can call and they'll bring it out, but I just quickly went in and asked an employee and the whole process was seamless. This store will fill you with joy during the holidays especially, so highly recommend a quick stop here if you're doing holiday shopping. However, even more so I'd recommend you place an online purchase/pick up in store to keep it from overcrowding inside during Covid. All the employees were wearing masks, so that was a plus, but the store was bustling for sure. read more

It's called, "What is your poo telling you?" Great title, I know. In any case, I came in here to buy a Mother's Day card, and I got distracted by all the cute gifts, including Flavor-Saver 'stache clips for your open bags of chips, paper accessories and all kinds of fun little books (not just limited to poop information). It's really a quirky little spot, and an excellent place to waste some time. The selection of cards where some copywriter has already come up with something personal and thoughtful for you to say to your mother was somewhat limited...but they did have a lot of paper crafts available, including a kit with which you could make your own Mother's Day card. Personally, I'll never do that. If I'm going to go to all the trouble of making my own card, I'm not going to buy a kit that would make me look like some sort of crafting genius. My mom would just assume I bought that. I would obviously have to make something crappy enough that my mom would recognize my handiwork. So in the end, I ended up buying a tree-free card, which is right up her alley because she cares about nature and blah blah blah. Just kidding, Mom. I love trees too. Anyway, Sunday is Mother's Day! This is a really pretty card and stationary shop. I stopped in to get a card for my friends' engagement and just keep coming back. Everything is beautiful and they even have a pen section where you can try all the pens to see how they write/look on different paper. If you go online, you can order some personalized styles in bulk if you have an event or something. I like this because dealing with online stationary businesses has seriously burned me in the past...this way, if I have a problem with my order I have a store location I can go to talk to someone. The staff here are generally friendly and helpful, too. The stuff here is a little expensive but I don't find it to be overpriced for what you're getting and, like I said before, everything is so beautiful that it makes writing cards/letters (which can be a bit of a chore) more fun for me and the recipients. Chicago-turned-Brooklyn Paper Lovers Rejoice!!! Our beloved Paper Source is here!!! She's a small girl, but she'll do just fine. While there are plenty of stationary/craft/paper type of stores in NY, none of them have ever lived up to PS. I've grown used to PS's sizes, colors, stamps, prints, and so on. So whenever I go into another store, I can't find exactly what I'm looking for. But all of those worries are no more. Now I'm just a 10 minute bike ride from paper heaven (mmmm, Luxe Cream). I celebrated the joyous reunion by crafting up some simple Thanksgiving cards and dinner invitations. I even treated myself to a few new stamps. Crazy....I know!!! Paper Source is like my favorite line of stores in the city. Seriously, I'm almost considering getting a part time job there just so I can be enlivened by the beautifully patterned papers, the colorful stamp pads, the walls of cute and clever cards - honestly, it's like heaven for anyone slightly inclined to making almost anything. For me, it's sort of deadly because I started collecting stickers avidly at the age of seven, and I was recently gifted an expensive paper cutting machine so I can make cards which I fantasize will be sold on my future (though currently nonexistent) Etsy account. But let me tell you, this is not my first hoorah in the paper store arena. I've been around the block and let me tell you WHY Paper Source is the best. First of all, the staff is so nice, helpful and passionate about their products ! The staff members are crafters and do use the supplies and can tell you which gel pen runs the smoothest. This is an excellent perk! Next, there is a DiSPLAY TABLE where staff members will make cards right in front of you, show you how products work, test out stamps. OMG... this is like amazing for me.. and definitely a good idea for them because I have bought several products due to the demonstrations. (This also inspired the paper cutter gift). Also, the store is awesome because they have classes! Lots of classes! At night or on the weekend and on the day of the classes you get a discount (I forget the percentage now but it's significant) on the supplies you buy. The store also has really cool gifts for the non-insane craftsperson, the layman, let's call him, who is just in the neighborhood for an interesting gift or some unique wrapping paper. Nice little stationary shop in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn. Here they have a large selection of cards and stationary. They even have a huge selection of specialty envelopes in all colors to mail out invitations or what have you. The staff will also assist in wedding or party invitations. The best is their selection of wrapping paper. If you have a special gift for someone, they'll beautifully wrap it for you in one of their many selections of truly amazing wrapping paper. It's a tad pricy but their selections are very impressive. Great place to come if you don't mind paying a premium. Recommended. read more

If I could I would give this store a billion stars. Customer service is just beyond stellar. Lapin and I came here on a Saturday night to explore the cards. One thing lead to another and we (mostly, me) became interested in their workshops. I asked a couple of questions (more like a hundred) and they patiently answered every single one of them while performing tutorials on each of the 70 thousand products I asked about. I ended up keeping them there passed their closing time but not once did they look at their watches or told us to leave. Simply the best customer service ever. The manager even printed out next month's class schedule for us. She teaches a couple of the classes, I will definitely be back to try one. read more

Paper Source, while expensive, has everything you would want for cards and paper crafts. I wish the store was a bit bigger or had a bit more variety, but we all know space in Brooklyn is limited and they do a great job stocking up on holiday specific items as well. I love the attention you get when you walk in - everyone is friendly and funny - but not overwhelmingly in your face if you just really care to browse. 5-stars for their amazing staff!!! Every time I have come in here with a new DIY project for my wedding, they all go above and beyond offering advice and tips. The last time I had come in, I was torn between heat embossing and just regular stamping my gift box tags and they showed me samples of each, making a point to use every last variation of the color gold so that I could choose which matched best. As I had never heat embossed before, they took the time to show me exactly how and even had me do a trial myself so that I could see how easy it was! The store itself is your typical paper-source- with nice paper/stationary, novelty gifts, etc, but what sets this store apart from the others is their helpful employees who are quick to help and aid first-time diy'ers like myself. read more

I don't visit this area often but when I finally got the chance to, I could not help myself but stop by and take a peek. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the set-up at this store. It looked very cluttered compared to the one in Soho and UWS. They pretty much sell the same exact things but something about this store makes me feel uncomfortable and somewhat claustrophobic. I would normally spend like 30 mins inside the Soho store looking through stuff and getting inspiration but here, I was out within 10 mins. Even though I do self-identify as a crafter, I am not actually a paper-crafter. That's a whoooole 'nother level of crazy supply-buying that I'm not ready for at this point in my life... ...Buuuuuut that didn't stop me from nearly losing my crafty mind when I walked into this place. There's so many THINGS! Like...3D stickers! And kits to make paper hedgehogs! And paper in different sizes and colors! And a die-cutter machine! And more stuff with hedgehogs! So yeah, I wanted to buy literally everything. Including the die-cutter machine -- I almost convinced myself that it would improve my lessons and help my students learn better. Somehow. (Still working out the details on that.) In the end all I bought was some washi tape (I HAD to have it!) and the girl at the counter still acted like it was a super exciting crafty purchase. Having worked at a craft store, that sometimes-ridiculous conversation about your future project is the mark of a truly pleasant craft shopping experience, so I left happy with my roll of tape. This is my favorite paper, craft shop!! I used to frequent Paper Source in Princeton and am so happy they have a shop in NY, too!! The whimsical, delightful stationary and cards would just put a smile on my face and I would spend hours in the shop dreaming up craft ideas! It's ok if you're not the most creative person. They have pre-cut, easy-to-follow craft kits so you can satisfy your creative itch and get great final products! I have to admit, I truly enjoy browsing through stationery stores and the like. When I stumbled upon the Paper Source I was pleasantly surprised. Their stationery selection is so impressive that I spent a lot of time just browse around. With so much to choose from, It didn't take long before I had picked out note cards and a box of letter stationery. Finding a staff person for assistance took a few minutes, but not particularly long and she was fairly helpful and courteous. For some items, I thought the price was a bit high but certainly affordable nevertheless. When I am in the area again, I'm quite sure I will probably want to stop in. For me, one of the best reasons to visit Paper Source is to see what's available and at what price. They have such a wide selection that they are a good place to start. read more

UGH. Why wasn't this place around when I was making my wedding invites?? I literally had to order their envelopes wholesale because nobody in the city carried the color/quantity I needed. And then, like a mirage, I'm walking on Smith St andI see the logo off in the distance. What the hell, guys? This is a much smaller, friendlier shop than Paper Presentation or Print Icon. Basically, it's Brooklyn-ified. But pretty much everything you need is here, and I assume they can order it otherwise. There are fewer color options than Paper Presentation, though, and I didn't notice a lot of custom enclosure styles. If you aren't doing mass invitations, they also carry a lot of cute letterpress greeting cards, cute books, and kitschy gifts. And a whole wall of rubber stamps. I'm so angry about the time I wasted before this was here, but for any future brides or just people who need paper products, come here first! read more

Quippy, quirky cards with a handmade vibe? I will gladly throw down some dollars for that. Paper Source is a cute find introduced to me by my friend M., who was looking for a spooky rubber stamp for a school event. Walking in, I almost collapsed from the sheer sense of twee and the knowledge that I would almost absolutely be willing to spend top dollar for wrapping paper with Spiderman AND Boba-Fett printed on it. Unique rubber stamps, markers, and cards for all occasions can be found, but I was most delighted by their examples of DIY thoughtfulness. Baby shower invites, wedding thank-yous, and birthday party shout-outs are displayed throughout the store, and all show great care and creativity in their presentation. I also loved the bespectacled employee wearing the thick-frames who showed me and my other friend M. how to emboss. Sexy. And he modestly said he wasn't even that good at it. Pft. He was magnificent. I came in with a artsy friend to get some supplies and then I got inspired and decided to take a 'risk' and signed up for a card-making class with said artsy friend. Fast-forward one week later, I am there wanting to buy everything (supplies) in the store since we get a 10% discount voucher (good for 2 weeks). The class was perfect for a beginner like me. Instructor girl's Ruth and she's fun and easygoing. It's an intimate group of 8, so you can ask questions..and she shares her tips and suggestions so readily. I waked in with 2 of my friends and everyone except for my white boyfriend was greeted. First, I wouldn't categorize Paper Source as a "hobby shop" - it sells various types of papers. I also like to use quality paper for resumes and presentations and I missed going to Paper Presentation when I was at 18th St last weekend, so, after walking past Paper Source when it was closed the other day, I came back here today to try their paper quality. First of all, the sales person who helped me was much more pleasant than anyone I have dealt with at Paper Presentation. He did all the bending, grabbing and paper comparison for me so all I had to do was test the paper texture, thickness and color. Secondly, the paper is OK, but rather expensive ($4+ for 10 pages of paper). At Paper Presentation, I got 50 pages of linen paper for under $10. So, this is a local, but more expensive option than Paper Presentation. So, weighing the pros and cons - 1) much more pleasant and helpful service, but 2) more expensive products. I do think that the tote bags are nice though. read more

Ahhhh this place was so cool. I wish I could have spent more time here. Next time I'm in New York, I will be back, for sure. We got to shop through all of the Christmas clearance which was awesome. I did find a lot of the regular items to be pretty steeply priced, but I also understand that this is a specialty shop. I found a lot of very neat things from materials to finished products. My review is upgraded to 5 stars because seriously everyone in this store is just a gem! They are so very helpful and polite. I have never not gotten what I needed and been helped throughout by a friendly smiling face. They are definitely way overpriced and I cringe sometimes when I feel compelled to purchase a beautiful card that's $6 but you just have to pay attention to costs and note what you can purchase elsewhere for cheaper. I find there is a serious lack of craft and stationary stores in brooklyn I can easily access so I'm willing to spend the extra dough. Also one of the last times I was here the amazingly friendly woman that checked me out accidently charged my card twice without realizing until I left the store and emailed me IMMEDIATELY apologizing and instructing me to return to get credited. Me being the dumby that signed away my double charge was very pleased they were so fast with catching that. read more

The staff is incredible friendly and knowledgable. The selection is excellent. I love the giant books of examples and the walls of colored paper. I even found silly inexpensive gifts to get for my boyfriend as he waited patiently while i got my craft on. The store was rather busy, but the staff took it in stride. They were all over the place making sure everyone was getting what they needed and that people weren't waiting in line for too long. I was pretty much floored by their customer service (especially considering Brooklyn is basically the capitol of the world when it comes to understaffed, angry salespeople). This store is amazing!! I am a huge arts and crafts person and I walked in the other day, and it was seriously like heaven. I had gone in a couples times before just to browse around or just to pick out a card for random occasions and I have always loved everything they have here. BUT I went in recently looking to fix my botched wedding invitations and they were incredibly helpful. I had printed them on my own through an online service and while the invites themselves were okay, the envelopes were trash. To make matters worse, the size was weird so I couldn't just replace the envelopes. I asked a sales person for help and they told me the options for fixing them and made me confident that they would still turn out great. As I went into Paper Source, Charlotte (with her cute English accent) was so helpful. She patiently went through tons of paper options with me, and even went down to the storage room because there were not enough on the floor.
