Some adjectives that come to mind about my most recent experience on 12/14/2025 at the 7th Avenue Paper Source location are rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. I've been to this location many times without any issues but my last visit was rife with problems. I bought an item that was supposed to have been 30% off plus as a premium member I was supposed to get an additional 10% off, so a total of 40% off. I left the store with receipt in hand and double checked the price. I noticed that the deductions were done incorrectly. The item rang up at a higher price than was marked on the item. Also as a premium member I was supposed to get the discount of the additional 10% off of my item. A woman who was working by the wrapping paper area asked if I needed help because she noticed that I just left and re-entered the store. She was the only Saving Grace, of the employees that worked that day because of her attentiveness and genuine kindness. I told her about the incorrect pricing and she told a man who was by the register the issue. I was met by him with disdain and an attitude. He was visibly annoyed that I needed assistance. He couldn't figure out the math in his head, didn't use the register to help him fix the issue, then after a while, went into his wallet, and gave me the money I was owed with an insult about how much it was that he had to give me. He treated me as though I was the problem. I also had an issue with the young woman who originally rang me up because I told her 3 times that I am a premium member and should receive 10% off of my purchase. That particular day premium members would receive a free small notebook as a bonus which were by the registers. She claimed that I was not a premium member, even though I am one. She was extremely dismissive and refused to give me what I was entitled to 10% off and a free small bonus notebook. I just went into a Barnes and Noble today 12/22/2025 and inquired about my membership. They confirmed that I do in fact have an active premium membership until October of 2026. read more

The quality of cards and paper is generally excellent. But the cashiers, with probable exceptions, are the most insincere, fake-friendly, gossipy, snarky crew, ever. Fake smile, treacle-tone platitudes, and the minute the transaction is over their pointy fangs grow back. Every time. As a customer you must also make sure not to: interrupt their private conversations with a question, or return a boxed card set because it's missing several cards (they will look at you like you stole them). Last time I had say say Hi! four times before the cashier even looked at me while he was ringing me up. Never again. Internet shopping lives for this reason. (For the customer who said they are racist, they're not. They treat everyone like they have dog poop on their shoes.) read more

This place is racist as AF. It was before Covid-19, I went to there to buy some gift wrapping paper for a design project. There was a customer service guy standing next to me, so I asked his opinion about the paper regarding the quality and textures. He gave me a nasty attitude and cold face, it was almost like he doesn't want to talk to me. I was confused because one minute ago, he was talking to a white lady in such a nice tone and offered her a lot of helps. I was shocked that this kind of nasty racist thing happened to me and it happened in such a high rated place. It is disgusting. Train your (white) employees please. Aside from my love of bags,scarves & cute shoes, paper is ranked up there too. I would purchase the entire store if I won the lottery! Reams upon reams of beautiful paper in all gorgeous hues of the rainbow plus cards, toys, knick knacks etc that you don't need but buy just for hoarding purposes. This is the Wholefoods of paper/stationary! I can't wait for the next birthday or for Christmas so I can go on a shopping spree at this cute store! read more

Super cute store with tons of stuff (that I probably don't need, but never walk out without buying anything! LOL) The employees here are super friendly and helpful. You can expect everything to be totally overpriced and yes, you can probably find similar items at a much cheaper price if you plan ahead and purchase whatever it is that you need in advance, but if you are looking to get some stationery or party supplies last minute you can definitely find them here! I purchased some napkins, party straws, balloons, a glitter pouch, and a calendar during my last visit. The balloons here are extremely overpriced (I paid approximately $8/balloon + $4-6 to blow them up). Overall, I do give this store 5 stars because I love cutesy items and I can definitely find them here whenever I need them! read more

I absolutely love this shop! It reminds me of the paper stores I used to go to in my childhood. It's the perfect place to go for last minute gifts. We bought snacks, fun stickers, And they just happen to have awesome paper. I run a small business and I needed to make quick gift certificates and hang tags for gift bags and paper source works with the local printing company so I just bought the paper here at print source and walked over the printing company and I had everything I needed the same day. The owners awesome knows everything about paper and Printing and taught us how to avoid some possible printing issues. These are the kind of shops that make a neighborhood special. read more

The staff here is mean-spirited and condescending. I've lived in NYC over 20 years and had my worst customer service experience here. A designer recommended this Paper Source as I was looking for a custom design book. I came in after work, and was immediately greeted with a snotty, dismissive attitude when I patiently described what I was looking for. As soon as the 2 Paper Source employees realized they didn't have exactly what I was looking for they started calling me 'sir' and sneered 'you should go to an office supply store' before literally turning their backs on me. Friendly and helpful, but a lesser version of Papyrus in my opinion. (They took over that Papyrus location.) The loyalty program is meh at best, so it's high quality cards at atrocious prices. Therefore, minus two stars. You can and should do better. read more

My first time coming here. I was looking for some Christmas cards and was recommended this place since Papyrus is no more. Staff was friendly and there were all sorts of cards, gift bags and stationeries but overall, the cards all seemed the same, the covers were mostly humor related and definitely weren't beautiful like the ones you would have found at Papyrus. Went to target afterwards and saw cards and bags of the same quality. Next time, I might just stick to shopping at Target. read more

After a routine greeting, I was basically ignored throughout my entire visit. Although I had a list of things ready to purchase from paper source, I decided only to get 2 of the 10 items I needed that I knew I couldn't get elsewhere. Last Saturday, I was in the store with my daughter. As a MAJOR glitter fan - but someone who's trying to reform my glitter usage - we were in search of brown paper to decorate and use as wrapping paper. They were sold out! Enter Steven (I hope I'm spelling your name correctly)! He not only gave us an entirely new color palette, he also spent time giving us creative ways to make our goals a reality. What a great experience! From start to finish, all of the staff at Paper Source took care of 5 adults who took a bangle decorating class with Erika. Erika was a treat - patient and reassuring when we were second guessing our crafting skills. We were definitely novices but left with terrific paper covered and painted bangles. For a small extra fee, we were allowed to bring in snacks and beverages which was a nice touch for this bachelorette gathering. I'd recommend a class there without reservation. read more

O.M.G. - B.O.B.! We took a stamp carving class here and it was absolutely fun for a group of crafty girls. We came out with about three self-made stamps. And boy were they adorable! If you enjoy DIYing, come here for a class and you'll feel like you could have your own Home Network channel! read more

I visited Paper Source once again today, and as usual the staff were extremely keen to engage and help. Each time the eagerness of the staff feels borderline 'too much', but given that this company seems to generally employ great people, who seem to genuinely enjoy interacting and helping customers....I usually leave the store feeling good (minus a few dollars). Today it was certainly too much. This was because there was a visiting Employee, some sort of sales trainer, in store giving the shop staff tips on how to sell more of various products on display. I was not close by but it could be heard from most of the store. As a customer, you want staff to be trained and knowledgeable, but you do not want to hear line by Line role play style details of how you are soon to be persuaded to buy something you don't want, how they wish to play on your emotional vulnerabilities. My advice is to do sales training more quietly, or completely out of view of customers. read more

Came in to create our wedding invitations. Me and my fiancé usually don't always agree on style but Danielle was patient and VERY helpful with her suggestions. We told her what our ideas were and she helped creat the perfect card. They are a little pricey but she helped us to do something within our budget. I would have like a little more selection on the light weight paper but if your looking for regular card stock you will have a great selection to choose from. I had absolutely the best experience at this place. Over the course of a month, I and my family members were here at least 5 times to shop for stuff for a wedding, and we got impeccable service and information from all the staff here. It's hard for me to believe that this is a chain store, they run it as a family business: with great care and service. On more than one occasion we entered the store just before closing time but they never rushed us and continued to serve us well beyond closing. We received very detailed instructions on how to use our supplies. I highly recommend this location. read more

I used to dislike coming into this store. The people working there were rude and did not make me feel welcome when I entered the store. Then a new manager by the name of John came on board and walking into the store was an entirely new and pleasant experience. He remembers my name and has helped me with my business of gift wrapping. Erika is also a great addition to this place and is super-talented, patient and gives great crafting advice. I dealt with a manager by the name of Susan today who was not at all helpful and I have decided to only visit the store when John and Erika are there. read more

Love it here. I'm always happy to walk through the door because I'm surrounded by beautiful things. The hand made papers are dazzling. If you've never tried heat embossing ask them for a demonstration. They're the folks who got me started. Friendly staff that are happy to be there and willing to answer your questions.
