The basic doll is a little expensive, but of course you have to get some clothes, etc., so it adds up. We ended up spending $75, but I was ready for about that amount. The filling process is quick, the heart insertion is super cute (get your video rolling,) and she loves it. Not something to do every day (it has been two years for us since the first one we got) but a nice occasional splurge. There are a ton of character options, and the smaller ones are reasonably priced, especially during a sale. You can go over the top with roller skates for a freaking stuffie, a chair for them, whatever, but you can get out for $25-$50 if you're firm.

When you first walk in the least expensive bears are right in front so if your child is somewhat small you could sneak out of there for around $20 if your really wanted.. I was surprised to find a 'Hello Kitty' doll we could build and for my little one it was all over.. You pick out the doll, they stuff it for you according to how soft or firm your kiddo wants it and finally you can dress and name the animal. Overall the experience was pretty good and the staff was friendly but you sort of get nickeled and dimed (the dress and shoes for ours were sold separately) and you can easily get stuck in a long line if your there on a Saturday afternoon.

The staff working when we stopped in were talking to each other and barely acknowledged us and we were the only people in the store. The part that was frustrating was that I had called several times to see if they were open since it was a holiday and they did not answer the phone. We decided to chance it anyway since we were already at Easton, and when we got there to see them just ignoring phone calls was annoying. Prices are higher than other stores, but they do have a great selection so if we lived in the area we would come back, but since it's so far away we won't.

Larson's trumps Learning Express in all categories, though. Learning Express just seems like a room full of random toys. There is no real order to it all. Even more unfortunate is the fact that it is extremely cluttered. Kids couldn't really have fun here like they do at other toys stores. Learning-oriented toys and games are the focus here, predictably. They all roughly adhere to this rule, though there seems to be more traditional toys like dolls and such here than at other learning toy stores. Honestly, a place like this mostly serves to remind me that I miss the Discovery Channel Store.

We stopped in after brunch on Sunday and our entire family had a blast. The staff are super friendly, prices vary, from reasonable to high depending on the item. It's an old house, filled from the first floor all thru the second level with rad finds. Second floor has a clothing boutique, toy shop, groovy vintage finds and the coolest witchy stuff- tarot cards/candles. Somehow they brought the unique "Clintonville-esque" style shopping and nestled it right at the heart of Gahanna. They just added a coffee shop Joy Local to the back of the shop, so you can stay awhile and sip while you shop. Worth a visit.

The prices are a little high but exactly what I would expect for a shop like this. It's great for gifts or something for yourself. It is geared towards women but there's no harm in that. I was shopping for my nieces first birthday and found some great items that went with her cupcake theme. The woman who helped me at checkout was very friendly and wrapped everything for me. Such a nice touch that you can't get at chain stores. My gift for my niece is wrapped and I even left with a gift for my nephew that she wrapped separately. Definitely worth the 20 minute drive.
