They take time to find out where the problem areas are and focus on them. They remember my areas when I come back. That to me shows they care. Emily was my masseuse and she did a great job (didn't talk during the massage, pressure was perfect, and focused on entire body). Price was good too ($100 for 90 minutes). Something is very suspicious about this place. I went in for a 1-hour deep tissue massage and made it clear to the lady at the front desk (not sure if she's the owner or manager) that I did not want to be assigned to someone inexperienced. I even explained that I had a bad experience before with someone who didn't know what they were doing and asked her to assign me a better person. She ignored this and still gave me someone who clearly had no clue what they were doing. The session was supposed to be an hour, but I had to cut it short at 30 minutes because it was just horrible. The therapist spent the entire time only working on the left side of my upper back with very bad technique. It was not only ineffective but actually felt wrong, to the point where I'm concerned she may have messed up my back. If I end up with an injury from this, I will definitely be taking legal action. To make matters worse, even though the front desk lady knew how bad the experience was, she still made me pay for the full 30 minutes. That alone tells me this place does not care about their customers, only about taking your money. Please do not risk your health, your back, your money, or your time by coming here. We paid for and made reservations for a couples massage. When we got there, they said they did not have the reservation but they could still take us. We didn't have to wait long to go back but when it was time to go back, one of the employees was obviously going to put us in the room where we get the couple massages at, until she was redirected by the employee or manager that said they did not have a reservation. We received our massage in separate rooms. Not sure if a professional massage is supposed to feel the way it did, but it wasn't as satisfactory as I would have thought or liked. read more

Massage therapist didn't know how to massage properly. She does not have a proper system or order and just kept rubbing my arms and legs. Worst is she will just suddenly do moves without warning like yanking your arms or legs and bend your back while you are on prone position, very bad for those with spine issues like DDD. I really think they should send the employees for proper training because it's mediocre and I've been to different massage places before. I made the appointment based upon some excellent reviews which were not accurate...this visit was more like the review with 1 star. Room was very plain & table was covered with a sheet that had a hole & the face hole was covered with a paper towel. Since there was no room ceiling so I could hear everything & everyone. The lady did not know how to properly use stones & rubbed them very fast over my body instead of incorporating them in the massage. There was No salt soak at all. I've been here probably five times within the past year. Each time it's a different lady with a different technique, yet somehow they just KNOW where to focus without me even saying anything. Yeah, you can hear other people's conversations and the constant hum of the air conditioning, but with a massage that good I don't even care. I'm always sad when the hour is up because it's so relaxing I don't know where the time goes. One of my really good friend, decided to invite me to get a massage with his favorite massage therapist as he has been raving about her talents! Let's start with the location, it's in a shopping center . The inside is ok, the rooms are divided by just wooden wall so u can hear when people talk and go in and out the door. My only issue with that I really wanted to relax and just listen to the smoothing music playing in the background playing but it was difficult. Cali (the massage therapist ) was excellent, before starting she asked me the level of pressure I wanted .I chose the hard since i have been sore from working out and just had to relieve stress of life. I got the sport massage and I can tell during my session that my muscles needed it. I felt relax and the next day I could feel that my tense muscles have loosen up. I would definitely recommend this place if you dont mind the lil noise in the background from people going in and out . The prices are affordable as well. read more

My husband, daughter and I all got the 90 minute massages and absolutely LOVED them. Lida did the massages for my husband and myself (on different days), and we both said that it's the best massage we have ever had. She listened to what we asked her to do (my husband likes a really firm massage, while I have tendonitis in my wrist and asked her to be gentle there. She checked in frequently to make sure I was enjoying the massage and the level of pressure. It's also really neat that they let you choose what essential oil they use with their massage lotion. My husband has sensitive skin, so he didn't choose any oil, but I chose lavender and it was heavenly. My daughter doesn't remember who did her massage (but I know Lida was off that day so it was not her). But she said it was fantastic and the lady listened to her and gave her a great massage. To address some of the comments from other people who gave low ratings... yes, the walls on the massage rooms don't go all the way to the ceiling. Yes, you can kind of hear other people talking. But that didn't take away from the massage at all for me, or for my husband and daughter. I HIGHLY recommend New Spirit Massage and we will all be returning. read more

I should have turned around and walked out when the place smelled reminded me of a gym locker room. The person that did my foot massage was good, however the environment was unpleasant. Next to the foot massage chair, staff were busy opening and closing (slamming) a microwave oven door to warm their food. The smell of food was all over the place. Staff were turning on the noisy sink water faucets to wash dishes. I observed the masseuse ask the staff multiple times to do it quietly and their body language was of the "we don't care" attitude and the noise continued. These interruptions spoiled a decent foot massage for me. I would not recommend it. Even with my ear plugs in, the noise level was disturbing. This is an "emergency break glass" kind of place for me. The "rooms" are not full rooms, as in they are only 4 walls with no ceiling (above you can see the ceiling of the main building if that makes sense) all connected to each other, so you can hear every single sound (the person next you moaning) and it's not a relaxing environment. The rooms didn't look very clean or well kept and the operation seemed very unorganized. I left before the massage started because I didn't feel comfortable, so can't speak to the actual massage, but wouldn't recommend based off environment alone. read more

When they finally came to get us, they said that my Groupon was expired and they would not allow me to pay the difference between what I paid and the purchase price of the Groupon, which they are supposed to do. Although their English is not great the ladies are friendly and very professional, providing an excellent short session, foot massage or full body massage. I started going back to this establishment because of the new owner and the two new massage therapists who were great - Lily and Junior. However, after returning this past week must have been another new owner running Spirit Wellness since I last came here 2 weeks prior. The massage therapists were different and the certificates hanging on the wall were different as well. The pressure was good but the massage therapist kept hitting my bone on my back that it became more painful than relaxing. Majority of the massage went well but having the arm bone rub up against my spine for the duration of my back area was so uncomfortable. Finally, when it came time to pay there credit card machine was not working and could only except cash which I only brought enough for my tip. So they called my credit card in to another establishment they own or have friends working at. They then texted me a picture of my receipt. I was not comfortable with that because of identity theft now a days. I don't think I will be visiting this establishment again with the new owners. read more

I have been going to Nirvana Shady Grive for atleast 5 yrs now. Tried a few of thei therapists and Tina is THE best! If you explain to her where you are hurting most, she caters to it. Great lady! For three years I searched high and low for a place that did quick accupressure sessions that focused on healing the body. I was missing those Chinese massage parlors that were a dime a dozen in the San Gabriel Valley in CA. This place is it! Or even better. I'm used to one giant room with several people getting messages next to me, but this place is semi private which I absolutely loved! To the review below complaining about the bright light from the front area and the buzzer (which by the way is pretty much standard in a massage parlor like this). Maybe travel a little so your inexperience doesn't come out in the form of ignorant criticism. Also, this is NOT a high end, fancy pampering spa. This is a massage parlor for wellness not ambiance and essential oils. I mean HELLO, affordable prices should be telling. It's basically like a neighborhood massage parlor you'd find in China, except a lot cleaner and semi private. Lily has amazing hands. I come in with a stiff neck and it's gone the next day! They also offer Swedish, deep tissue and reflexology (my favorite). Excellent establishment, very clean, no nonsense, not a particularly fancy place but their prices are very reasonable, in fact quite cheap compared to other massage providers. Others have commented about the amount of light that comes in and the walls not going all the way to the ceiling, but that wasn't a concern as I was face down the whole time with my eyes closed. It was plenty dark enough for me. The massage therapist was very nice, friendly but not chatty. She offered medium or hard pressure and I chose medium due to having had too many massages that were overly firm. I think next time I'll ask for harder pressure. As often happens during a massage, I drifted off for a bit and before you know it, the time was up. I was offered a bottle of water on my way out. A-MAZING. This was my first visit here and will not be my last! The place was very clean and well maintained. I had a gentleman for my Massage and he was wonderful! He used so many different techniques used and knew exactly which techniques to use to get inside every nook and cranny. Please keep in mind this is an acupressure or deep tissue massage and will feel so! The pressure applied to me was intense - I loved and needed it! (Of course, I was asked a few times if the pressure was still good.) I will warn you that in my opinion the beginning is the roughest since your body and muscles aren't yet warmed up and such intense pressure is used. I saw people mentioned the clothing and face pad situation. I wore only my panties and was not told otherwise. My Massage was on my bare skin. My bed also had a paper towel on the face pad-- next time I'll bring a pillow case and fold it long and skinny keeping the long side and folding so the width of the short side is about 3". Anyway, I could write so many more positive things. Try it out yourself. You won't be sorry! read more

Had my first massage ever today at Spirit Wellness Massage. My sister bought me a 60-minute​ session as a birthday gift. The massage therapist (I think her name was Susan) was really kind, professional and seemed very experienced​. Her warm and genuine demeanor made me feel very comfortable. I suffer from lower back pain and the massage definitely​ helped to relieve​ the pain. Susan was very thorough​ and focused on each part of my body specifically. I particularly like​d the humble atmosphere of the establishment. As mentioned in another review, the walls of each room don't extend all the way to the ceiling​ but I still felt like there was a good amount of privacy. I went around noon and I would recommend this time because it was very quiet and peaceful. ​Overall, the ambiance was cozy and comfortable and gave off a family-run vibe. I will definitely​ come back here again. Although my sister bought the massage, I did check the prices online and they were very reasonable; a good deal for what you get. read more

I came in with a super stiff neck and upper back. I was short on time, so i could only do the 30 minute acupressure. luckily that was all i needed. I was seen by the kind woman at the front desk. she immediately found where all the tension was and worked on those spots for a majority of the time. the pressure was great, and it really worked out the small kinks. She even found knots i didn't even know i had. the ambiance of the place is super relaxing. post massage, they offer water or tea. side note, the orange candies were delicious lol. will definitely come back for another session, maybe spend more for an hour deep tissue. read more

When I walked in I thought their prices were decent--pretty much $1/min. I asked for a $90 session because I felt like I've deserved it. I undressed and laid down on large sheets of paper towels. I'm used to the higher quality washable towels that places use but I thought "whatever, as long as I get a good massage." She started off doing a soft rub up and down my vertebrae. She did similar rubs around my back and neck for about 15min and I was starting to get bored. I thought "ok, she's getting my back warmed up for an extreme deep tissue attack. Nope. I'll cut to the chase: this was my entire 90min. There was a time where I thought "Maybe they thought I wanted their reflexology or other style of massage" and then stopped and asked the lady for DEEP TISSUE. She acknowledged and raised the pressure from 5% to about 9%. Here I was expecting 80-100% pressure. Even the logistics were bad... such as me starting off on my stomach with my face to the ground (dark), then turning over to an extremely bright room from the front entrance because the rooms are shorter than the roof and light comes in. My feet were completely cold the entire time and I'm sure she was aware of it because her hands were very hot compared to my frozen feet. I'm almost finished. At times I wanted to stand up, hoping I would see the clock at 45-min, at which point I would stand up, walk to the door, and hand them $60 cash and walk out. Unfortunately I did not have cash and it gets worse. I heard two other customers had come in and when my time was up it sounded like a buzzer at a basketball game as the alarm for my time went off. I quickly got dressed as I was frustrated and had already made the decision to give them $0 tip. When I walked up and they swiped, I saw a piece of paper that said "Tips for Jana." When she handed me the sheet to sign I wrote down $0 tip and $90 total. She started saying something to me and pointed at the "Tips..." sign. I said "No tip" and kept trying to walk out and she kept yelling about a tip. Then she said "You have cash?" which I said "No." I knew what she was getting at. She wanted me to pay for they credit card fee since I wasn't paying cash. I got frustrated and wrote-in a $5 tip and she said thank you and I left. Terrible place and I can't wait until it's gone. I had an awful experience with this place. I asked for a deep tissue and came home with a red/sore back. The masseuse overworked my back and it severely broke the skin. My back is now covered with bruises and stiffness. I've had deep tissue before with hard pressure but never had so much damage on the soft tissues like this. Price is reasonable and it was available the day I called for the service. Pricing and availability are the reasons for a two star review. However, with such an awful experience I had, I don't think they have many returned clients which could explain their availability. I will never go back. read more
