They have a good understanding of the body and are amazing at detecting where your aches are and know what to do to alleviate it. Visited this place a cpl months ago in the summer. Because I saw the messaging "walk-ins welcome" on this page, I came straight from work, where it little over 2 hrs before close. I came and was asked if I had an appointment, to which I let them know I didn't because the yelp page said walk-ins were welcome and they gave me a confused look and said no it's by appointment. I said ok and I was about to leave since I really only came for that moment, but I guess one of the masseuses said she'll take me (30 min job). For a place that required appointments, I would have thought the setup would have been more better and more private; not just tables out in the open with no barriers between others. Anyways, the massage part was very tough and focused on my legs instead of my upper body. My upper body could handle the firm massage, but the way she was massaging my legs was just unnecessarily deep in my opinion. I did ask her to lighten the pressure a little bit, but it wasn't by much. Overall didn't enjoy my experience here very much, but to each their own. Note to the business: you all need to remove the "walk-ins welcome" note on Yelp if walk-ins are actually not available. read more

Husband got my daughter and I a 45 min deep tissue massage. Let me say it was the best and fastest 45 mins of my life. They really know what they are doing. I must tell you I felt really bad for my therapist because my back is stiff like a board. At first it was so painful but I did request for him to not go easy and take out the knots. He found knots I never knew existed. If you are looking for a relaxing ambiance with candles and aromatherapy oils, this place is NOT it. Don't bother making an appointment. Even if you are early to your appointment time they will not honor it if they have walk-ins. I made two 60 min appointments. As we were walking up we heard another couple complaining about them not honoring their appointment time. I thought maybe they had just been late. Nope. We walked in and the man was frazzled saying that they were too busy for us and the manager wasn't there. Um, okay, but we have two appointments. Nope. He wasn't having it. No offer for us to wait or any sort of discount compensation for our wasted time and gas. The next day we decided to walk-in right when they opened. Another wasted trip. They only had a couple of people working and they were already busy. He said we could run errands and return in 30 minutes. Yeah right. So that I can come back and be told that they were busy? Wellness Massage has been my go to place for deep tissue acupressure care. If you're looking for a no frills, budget-friendly, in-and-out massage, this is the place to go. I've been impressed by the highly steady flow of diverse customers. If you're looking for a spa-like scented candle-lit, Enya tunes place, this isn't it. They only do one type of massage and it's deep acupressure (you can request for lighter or harder pressure though.) You can make reservations or walk-in. I personally do reservations to ensure I get my regular therapist (Mr. Yin!). I've been able to make reservations with as little as a 30 minute window (but that was very likely due to luck that Mr. Yin was not already snagged by another customer. Everything is handled in the large open room, but they do have a folding privacy screen which usually goes unused. You can tailor your massage whether it's a foot or full body massage or a combination of both dependent on your time/budget. If you get the foot acupressure, you get about a 15 minute foot soak before they work on your feet. For the full body massage, you keep your clothes on, but you need to remove your shoes, socks, and belt. Before you lay down, tear the paper towels a bit to allow yourself to breathe before you put your face in the positioner. If you have long hair, be prepared to take any hair accessories out of your hair because part of the process is a vigorous scalp massage. All your personal belongings go into a basket that is placed directly underneath your face. They will cover you with a blanket and massage you through the blanket and your clothes. I love this place! Other tips: Parking is plentiful. Plenty of food options if you've got the munchies before/after your massage. You can pay by card, but tips are cash only. read more

My friend and I were a little hesitant about this place because of the price which is very inexpensive. After trying it out we both instantly became regular customers. For the menu check out my picture at the end. I have plantar fasciitis (sucky foot pain from being round) so I decided to do the 30 or 40 minute foot massage. My pain didn't completely go away but it definitely got better. Here's what the foot massage gets you: 1. Foot bath with tea bags. 2. Hot rice bag on your neck. 3. 10 or 15 mins each cankle and foot. Absolutely worth it. I'd say it's like those guys in the mall who rub your feet but it's not so awkward because you get more privacy. My friend did the 30 min back massage. You don't take your clothes off which seems weird but the lady who worked on my friend was awesome. My friend was full of knots which were all worked out by the end. She was so pleased and sore. This reminds me of a massage place you would find in a mall, but it is located in the same shopping center across from Kung Fu Tea. I paid $60 for 60 minutes, and it was a dry massage with clothes on in a public room that was not separated. Because it was particularly hot outside that day, I was a bit uncomfortable coming in and being draped with a thick blanket. Make sure you wear light clothes if you are sensitive to heat. I liked how they had acupressure posters on the wall, and that the certificates of acupressure licenses were put up so it made it feel legit. However, the acupressure technique was good, but not the best I've had. It of course varies from person to person. I would suggest this place for a last-minute no frills massage. I haven't found that much things I've tried out have eased the pain. Up until I decided to try out Wellness Massage. It is not super fancy. You leave all your clothes on. Everyone is being massaged in the same room. But seriously, who cares?! I don't come here for a spa day. I come here to get some mobility back and feel at ease. I guess you get what you pay for. Like someone said earlier, the experience is very similar to those quick massage sessions at a shopping mall, except that here, its much more quiet. What I don't like is that rather than using a proper paper cover on the face cradle of the table, they just stuck a blanket and paper towels over the entire cradle. Because of this, my face was buried into the paper towels, resulting in not being able to breathe properly, which defeats the purpose of a massage session. When I asked for a proper cover, they just ripped a hole in the paper towels for me to stick my nose and mouth through. Definitely did not create a relaxing atmosphere. Further, as others have mentioned, you keep your clothes on during the session. They also put a blanket on top of you and massage you through that. I personally don't think this was effective, and did not feel any tension relief. Value wise, it's fine. It's half the cost of some of the other places I've been to, but since I got nothing out of my one and only session, I'll have to find another place. read more

As I've stated in a previous review, I suffer from lower back pain, with increased tension, brought on by stress. At this facility, they specialize in reflexology/shiatsu massages. At your convenience, patrons keep your secrets safe, as you keep your clothes on during service. There are no private rooms at this one. I've not yet selected a consistent masseuse because they've all been great. You request the pressure you want applied and they comply. The last time I here, I had a heap of pressure on my shoulders. I had a little lady service me. At some given point, she realized that my back needed some special attention and climbed on my back on all fours (I didn't know what the hell was going on). I would have been frightened if I wasn't in so much pain. She worked every single kink out of my back and shoulders like it was no ones business. Bless her heart. This place has become my saving grace on the way home after a hard day of thinking. 4 stars for service, -1 star for facility. read more

Definitely worth a try! My husband surprised me with a 2 hour massage and it's exactly what I needed. They spend 15 minutes soaking my feet in hot water then started the timer. The massage was 60 minutes for feet reflexology then 60 minutes body massage. It's definitely eastern style, deep tissue. There's a bit of stretching and variation between styles but consistently everyone has been very relaxing. Massages to me are suppose to be relaxing but also to release tension and knots. It's a perfect balance and the best part was it was $100 for 2 hours! You can't beat that, especially here in DC. It's a large open room so it can be loud for a massage but it doesn't bother me. The only thing I didn't like was everything required paper. Paper towels to dry the feet, paper that protected the bed like in a doctors office, but they ran out of toilet paper in the bathroom....?!! Didn't look at the reviews so we didn't know what we were walking into. Me and my husband surprisingly loved it. The place was very clean inside and open, but private from the street for the body massages. Don't expect a swedish massage, this is an acupressure place-reason most of the masseuses (sp?) are men. At first I was in pain, beyond a deep tissue massage. But after a few spots it felt so good. Pain for a second with each spot, but a release of tension once he moved to another. You might think they're going too fast and don't know what they're doing, but they definitely found knots on each of us and worked them out, as well as the rest of our bodies. My favorite was getting my butt massaged. If you go to a regular $90+/1hr fancy location they stay away from your bottom, but this place uses their elbows for a nice deep tissue -it work a desk job and sit all day so it was what I needed. While we were there, they had three different people come in for foot massages too - guess they're good at that since they work on pressure points. I will definitely be back here when I'm in town. Walked in around 1pm on a Tuesday, asked for a 60 min body massage and was immediately serviced by Yang. I didn't have to tell him my shoulder hurt, it's like he intuitively knew and spent extra time on it. It felt sooooo goooooooooood! The open room with 4 beds means you get massaged in whatever you walked in the door wearing. I've come in dress clothes, gym shorts -- whatever. Pressure is consistently strong. The best massages -- including most here -- have been VERY precise, where you can sense the masseuse really understands the interconnection of all the body parts -- can't be taken for granted!
