Leo and I have been going to Splash Dog for the past 3 years and we absolutely love it! I was aware that German Shepherd Dogs can develop hip issues later in life so as a preemptive move I was looking for an activity Leo could do to help build up his leg muscles and this place turned out to be perfect. Leo enjoys spending his 30 minutes swimming laps in the pool and Cindy the manager is absolutely the friendliest person and has become one of Leo's best friends. She was wonderful getting Leo used to the pool as Leo can be nervous about new things. She had him swimming like a pro in less than a month. We are very grateful to have this place in our neighborhood and cannot recommend it enough! read more

Called to purchase two tickets as a gift. The girl seemed panicked almost out of breath. Said their not have tickets for their swim package (she of course knew what I wanted) I said since there was a gift I have zero clue when she would want to make an appointment. We take our golden retriever here for water treadmill sessions. Her strength has increased in all her legs, particularly her rear. Water treadmill sessions are 15 minutes. They take such good care of her: there are even mirrors for them to watch her gait! There is a pool for dogs to swim, we haven't taken Piper to a swim session ONLY for fear that we'd never get her back on the water treadmill. If you're in the Des Plaines area,seriously consider having your dog swim here. Cindy is the manager, and she has such a heart for dogs. Laura and all the people who work there do too. We've taken 2 dogs here for hydro therapy. The therapists are caring, interactive & very hands-on. The facility is cozy, but clean. So far we did 2 sessions of water treadmill and the team have been so loving and patient with my high anxiety pup. She has luxating patella in both knees and we are working on strengthening her muscles to avoid surgery. The staff is sweet to her even when she freaks out and starts barking (incredible loud for a small dog) and always feed her peanut butter to keep her going. I love splash dog and would recommend it to anyone whose pup needs hydrotherapy or just a good swim. read more

We started bringing our bullmastiff, Kali, here after her second ACL surgery when she was 4 years old (yes, she blew out both her ACLs by 4). Our vet recommended swim therapy to help her recover so we thought we'd give Splash Dog a try. Amy and Traci were great and really helped Kali build her muscle with weekly 30 minute swims. We slowed down on the swimming after she fully recovered from her surgery, but as Kali grew older she began to have hip problems. No shocker there given the ACL surgeries on both legs. So now we take her about once a month for swim, and every other month to see Dr. Cahill (she does acupuncture and chiropractic at Splash Dog, among other locations), and do simple exercises every night that Dr. Cahill recommended and now, at 8 years old, Kali hasn't been this happy or energetic since she was a puppy! I don't know what we would've done without Splash Dog, and I know Kali's life has been made much better because of them! read more

Amy and Traci are fantastic. They've been working with my 13yr old golden, Harley, and 14yr old foxhound, Sammi, both arthritic, for I think just about a year now. Sammi isn't so fond of the pool, but the ladies know how to get her in safely and keep her interested and focused to get the best workout possible. She has severe arthritis in her back hips, and is always feeling great and wagging her tail after going for a swim! Harley can't stand to *not* be in the pool, and Amy and Traci are great at keeping him busy splashing around, without overdoing it. We can tell the difference going to Splash Dog even once a week has made on both of our seniors' every day quality of life. Highly recommend them if your pup is in need of a more specialized workout. read more

This is the second dog that I have taken to swim therapy. My Border Collie American Eskimo mix tore her ACL last summer chasing a squirrel. Her vet said she would need surgery. I know my girl and she would not stay calm enough to recover well from that. So like I did with my old German shepherd, I took her to swim therapy to strengthen her muscles without any impact. I is now a year later and she swims here every week, I would not dare stop. My girl gets so excited to come here, everyone is so nice and she gets all the attention and they have her favorite toy ready before she gets there. My very active, high energy 1.5 year old Golden Retriever has been coming to Splash Dog for a few months now. She absolutely loves it and enjoys every second of her 30 minute bi-weekly session. She goes "just for fun" rather than due to a medical ailment or hydro-therapy. Amy and Traci (the owners) are wonderful! They are always happy to see my dog and remember what toys she likes to play with while in the pool. Amy and Traci monitor her throughout her swim and when she gets fatigued they always give her a rest . I literally don't have to do anything other than sit on the bench and enjoy watching my dog have the time of her life. When it comes time for my dog to get out of the pool they rinse my dog off and then thoroughly dry her. I really appreciate the fact that Amy and Traci do all the work for me! This place is terrific! We took Chelcee for a 1/2 hour swim and she loved it. Staff is wonderful. Would definitely go back, worth the price. Be prepared to take your dog for a shampoo afterwards due to chlorine smell. read more

This is a great place to rehab or just exercise your dogs. My two German Shepherds LOVE going there. They can't wait to dive in. Between the treadmill and the pool Splash Dog keeps my 13 year old girl in top shape! Such a great facility. Feels very approachable and friendly - not cold and clinical. The staff knows very well what they are doing and you can feel comfortable with your best friend in their capable hands.
