When I think of YMCAs, I usually think of crappy old gyms with really dated rusty old school bikes…read morethat hurt to ride for many parts of your body. I am usually reminded of old swimming pools with lots of kids and questionable athlete's foot floors. But this YMCA completely changed my opinion about YMCAs. I don't when YMCAs made a major transition, but this gym was at same level if not better than most "elite" gyms or at least the ones that come with "elite" price tag. The cardio/fitness room was completely equipped with the newest workout equipment, including awesome bikes with interactive TVs where you can race people while you exercise. For me, I was happy with all the TVs that faced the numerous brand-new treadmills, elliptical machines and steppers. During my 6-week stay in Wilmington, I went to this gym at different times during the day and even during "peak" times (6-7am or 5-7pm), I could easily get a machine without waiting. If you're looking for a new gym, don't pay for a more expensive gym when this YMCA really has it all.
