Had dinner at the Splendora Cafe with my grandparents who live in the Houston area. We went in with my grandmother raving that they had the best brisket in all of Houston. She likes her beef over cooked, so I should have expected it to be so. It was. I sampled the sides, green beans, coleslaw, fried okra, and mashed potatoes with white and dark gravy. My grandad ordered the pork spare ribs. The okra was great, the slaw was definitely a premade, green beans were well seasoned. The mashed tatters had the taste and texture of real, but both gravies tasted like they were from a can. Now again, I cannot stress this enough, the brisket was dry and over cooked, but my god were the ribs fantastic. Dinner also came with a trip up to the salad bar, it's nothing special but everything was nice and fresh. Oh, and they really need a better sauce, or none at all. I plan to stop of there one more time before I head back to Tampa to sample the burgers, they are after all my favorite food group. read more

The chopped BBQ was some of the best I've had in a long time. I had the BBQ baked potato. The salad bar had the usual fixin's. They offer an array of fried foods. The fried pickles, mushrooms, and onion rings were fantastic. The café is off the beaten path, but had quite the little crowd for it being late in the evening. The service was friendly and prompt. Food is very good and fresh. Portions are large and prices are more than fair. I have eaten here many, many times. My only complaint would have to be the Bar-B-Que sauce. My family, friends and I just throw it away. They need to revamp their b-b-q sauce. I would definitely recommend this place their food is great. read more

This place is always packed, very popular with the locals. The portions are huge so come hungry. The chicken fried steak and chicken are really good, so is the fried okra. The servers are always nice and accomodating. The time before last that we dinned there it was so busy we had to wait a bit for a table. There was a couple already seated and eating who offered us to sit with them in the other two chairs at their table. That gesture blew me away. We politely declined their offer because a table was being cleared for us. The only downfall I have found is that the blue cheese salad dressing is not very tasty at all. However their salad bar options are pretty good. read more

What a pleasant surprise! Came across this place while traveling on Route 59 and stopped in for lunch. Service was excellent, the entire staff was very friendly! They are a good restaurant for those who like typical country food. Lots of fried with gravy but nobody does it better than Splendora Cafe. The service is usually great. Only complaint is the food is not healthy for those who choose a better diet. read more

Mom and I had lunch there on Thursday. We both ordered the 4 piece catfish with 2 sides. First off the staff was great, except when the waitress gave my fried okra to the table next to us (issue quickly resolved). The catfish was good but on the SMALL side. The tarter sauce was thin and very bland. The coleslaw (mayonnaise based) was tasty but waayyyy too wet. The green beans tasted as though they came straight from the can. Pinto beans & Fried Okra were very good. Overall the experience was good. If I am in the area again around lunch, I will give it another try. read more

We went to Splendora Cafe after Church with a group of 12. We waited at the front for a long time until I finally asked if this was seat your self. It was. When we finally were able to get a table, we needed to place a walker out of the way. We found a spot and cleared it with a waitress. Next thing we know a short waitress had the walker and was barreling through our chairs hanging up the wheels on each of our chairs she was an extremely adjective state. We told her we had only put it there after asking a waitress; her response was did I you ask one that knew English! Wow not sure we will be back after this. I am thinking they don't want to deal with the handicapped or someone that does not speak English or maybe they don't want them working there. Not the right type of attitude for me. read more

I have been to this restaurant before, just haven't re owed it until now. My wife and I go with a few from our church from time to time. Our pastor loves it. The food here is delicious. Country cocking at its best. The staff is friendly and even with the the Sunday lunch rush they are quick to get everyone in. Trust me you will want to eat here. Love this place. YUM! read more

Up until recently I have never had a problem with the food or service at Splendora Cafe. It all started last week when we sat down in a section in the back and were waited on by a male waiter (not sure of his name) during the coruse of our meal we were checked on twice by him. We were having to ask other wait staff for drinks ect.. later after we had left it was brought to our attention by another staff member that the reason he did not want to wait on our table was because he did not think that we were going to tip. Now mind you even on the worst of service I will still leave something for a tip. Earlier this week the same group went back to Splendora Cafe where we again faced the same problem. When we came in we had a seat at a table up front after about 10 mins of not receiving any service we asked who our waiter, or waitresses was going to be. We were not given an answer right away. However the same waiter from the week prior was speaking to a waitress, and I'm sure he thought he was far enough away that we could not hear him but that was not the case. We heard the conversation between the 2 arguing over who was going to take our table. We then proceeded to get up and ask for another section. We were told no. So we sat back down, and continued to wait. Since nobody would take our table Jeanette came back early from her break just so we could have a waitress to keep us from leaving. I would like thank her greatly for doing this knowing she did not have to. If you have employees who conduct themselves with such toxic behavior then you obviously DO NOT care about your business or you do not care about your customers which honestly is NOT a way to run your business. If myself, or anybody in our group are continued to be treated like this by your staff then by all means I have no problem going up the road to Coals which has just as good of food if not better. read more

They have really good food and customer service! Me and my co-workers always come here for lunch or dinner. All we do is call it in, wait 10mins and stop by to pick-up our food. Their BBQ Sliced beef sandwiches are my favorite! Their peach cobbler is also amazing! read more

My husband and I went this restaurant for the first time tonight. It was completely full, but we snagged a table just as another party was leaving. The woman who took our drink order and gave us our menus went over the whole thing with us and was very kind. Our waiter was named Alex. He was very kind and attentive. Because of the high volume of customers, we had to wait about 45 minutes for our food. We didn't mind because it was clear how busy they were. Alex gave us 2 free desserts and took our drinks off our tab, to make sure we had a good experience and would come back to see them at a time when it was less busy. He told us the hours and days they are slower. Food was delicious, portions were HUGE. Salad bar was fresh and had a wide variety of toppings. The atmosphere was clean and family friendly. No loud music playing, plenty of staff on the floor. Not every restaurant can handle being so crowded with such grace, and their extra effort to insure we would be back was surprisingly pleasant.
