Emma and Carson are so amazingly attentive, all the staff are great and helpful, we had the fish plate and couple of the delicious Homestyle burgers and Chicken Fried Steak (they even split it for us) everything was so delicious. We went back to this restaurant for dinner tonight. I can honestly say that the last time must have just been a bad day because the food was fantastic tonight. We got the appetizer sampler, cheese sticks, fried okra and fried pickles. Everything was delicious. We both got the bacon cheeseburger and my husband was right, it is so good. Seasoned perfectly, veggies were fresh and crisp. The staff is absolutely some of the best I've dealt with before. Thank y'all for a great dinner. read more

The Lake Houston, barbecue Grill in Huffman Texas just a few miles north of FM 1960 off of FM 2100 was a pleasant surprise. Outside, while whizzing by at 50 mph, the building looks somewhat not like a restaurant. It was an odd structure located in a large fairly industrial looking location. However I never hold the casualness of a barbecue joint against them. Great barbecue joints, often reside in rather informal and casual locations. Lake Houston barbecue was no exception. So naturally when eating at a barbecue facility for the first time, I personally look for the spare ribs. Unfortunately, they don't sell ribs or any on the bone protein. But they do offer brisket and pulled sandwiches Since brisket is one of my favorites I ordered a pound of it so that my family and I could all sample sone. It was seasoned wonderfully, tender, and had a nice, pleasant but intense smoke flavor. Unfortunately it was leaner than I prefer but of course that's just personal preference. Then I've violated one of my standing orders which is never order seafood at a barbecue/ steak restaurant and vice versa. But I did it anyway and I ordered their seafood sampler. This selection was a pleasant surprise. the shrimp was crispy and flavorful. The fried catfish was crispy on the outside, moist in the middle and very delicious and their fries just like all the other food was seasoned to perfection. It was hard to believe a barbecue pitmaster could produce such great tasting seafood at the same time. But this facility managed to pull it off. So whenever I have a taste for something other than spareribs I'll definitely hold this restaurant in mind. read more

Homestyle burger extra tomatoes. Food was good. Huge portions. Only ate half my burger and tops. Tots are seasoned, a little heavy for me but that's personal preference. Very rustic atmosphere which was vey relaxed. Only issue was the amount of flies in the dining room. Took off one star for that. Service was excellent. Assuming family-owned business. We normally eat here regularly sometimes three times a week. When we arrive, Taylor the granddaughter opens the window stuck her head out and said do y'all want to go or are y'all eating here and we said we're eating here of course we were sitting in a table. Waiting to be waited on she come out and took our order as we know our order without him having to look at the menu She went back, never brought our drinks to us. My son had to go knock on the window and asked for our drinks the other two tables in there I had to get up and go knock on the window multiple times for things then when we got her finally got our order she didn't bring us any napkins no ketchup or anything so we asked for it and then she come back and brought me a refill and Catch up but no napkins so we said we need napkins the other table for front of us which was two adults and two kids so can we get some napkins? Can we get some catch-up etc. and then turned around and told us that this is their first time there but they won't never be back because Service was terrible. The people in front of us got up and went and knocked on the window. The man asked for his check. She never opened the window. She just nodded adding after a few minutes the wife went knocked on the other window. She opened the window of what you need my wife and my husband still standing there for 7 to 8 minutes waiting on our check. She finally gave them their check, but during the time the wife turned around and said to the whole restaurant, I guess if she don't wanna charge, we can leave, which makes me wonder health and that does happen. We called the owner who had us to call his daughter. His daughter said she couldn't believe her daughter did that and was going up to the restaurant at a courtesy. We had called to let him know what it happened. Then the daughter calls us after we're at home tonight and wants to argue with us about what kind of service her daughter gave and everything, and didn't want to take responsibility for and over to refund The price of the tea refill that we were charged when the owner had already offered to refund the whole ticket, I will not be back and don't recommend anybody else going there read more

So every day on the way to my farmstead I see a sign touting "Best burgers in town!" Then a few miles down the street there is a gas station that says "Best burgers in town." I figured there can't be two so I tried this one. Its fairly new, and I try not to judge a place in the early days before they get their footing. Its hard to start up a business and then some jerk comes along and kills your dreams before you even start getting your groove. That's not me. So I will focus on the good with a few points they can improve on. The ambience is super casual. Its a converted Conex with a closed in porch. Already my kind of place. They have your typical burger joint food with some sandwiches (club, chicken, cheesesteak etc). When you walk in there is a window saying "Order" and another saying "Pick-up." I waited at the closed order window for over five mins. There is a sign saying ring the bell but the bell has been removed. Then I noticed waitresses where actually taking orders at tables. Wouldve been nice to see us standing there and advising there was table service. So we sat down, waited another ten mins and finally a waitress came over. Caveat: there were only two and one was pregnant, and the place was pretty busy. And I mentioned it's new. So we both got burgers. I mean, let's see if they can put their money where their mouth is, right?? I got a bacon cheeseburger which was on their special lunch list (they have a special each day I think from 11a-2p. Nice touch!). Well it took awhile again, but then it came out and was epic. Just huge. She asked if I needed a knife. I declined. I don't eat burgers or pizza with a knife. You really shouldn't be allowed on the Yelp Elite squad if you do. That's my opinion. Fight me. But I found a way. And it was...worth the wait! Damn good...no, great burger. Seasoned just right, not over mixed but still mainly holding together, nice sear, bacon crispy, fresh veggies including avocado that I added. And the fries were awesome too. Boardwalk style fries that must've been cut from fresh potatoes. Not some frozen store bought crap. So all in all, I would say definitely give this a try. I tried on a Saturday and it was definitely slower than it should've been but not sure about a weekday. They have a drive thru also. I don't know if it's open. And I can't imagine you would receive food in a timely drive thru kinda way. Wouldn't suggest that at this point. Staff was friendly. Got my drink filled. And they apologized for the wait, so I'm guessing they are aware of that issue. But I'd rather have good food after a wait than bad food quick. I'd go back. And ai will keep going if they fix their timing issues. read more

I liked this place a lot! Theres a few things they need to fix but the food was not one of them. This place is pretty small but they do have a drive through a available. It seems like they are short staffed but for only one waitress helping 6 tables we got our food fairly fast. A big shout out to her because she was fast and super friendly! The one issue they did have was a few flies because the customers do have the doors don't close by themselves. If they add a few fly traps by doors on the outside and inside they would minimize this issue but I believe this is not a deal breaker due to them having a drive through. If the flies are and issue for you then definitely take it to go. Now the food. I had the brisket baked potato and I tore it up to fast to even take a picture! The amount of meat that they put on the potato is very generous and SUPER tender. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and added grilled onions to it which was a game changer and really good. As an app we had the bottle cap jalapeño which are served with ranch and those were spicy but really good. Overall this is a must try place. I highly recommend this place. read more
