If you only have time to visit one shop in Tarpon Springs, this one is THE most touristy, but you'll also learn about the history of sponge
    Steve E.

This place is touristy -- VERY touristy -- but it's also a good first stop if you've never been to Tarpon Springs. Once you get past all of the t-shirts, shell toys, and tacky touristy stuff, you'll find an area that will teach you about the history of Greek sponge diving in Tarpon Springs. There's an interesting video where you'll watch the divers working underwater, and then see the process for trimming and cleaning the sponges after they're brought back to the docks. You'll find bins of different types and sizes of sponges, and the staff will help you find the right one to use as a cosmetic sponge versus a sponge to use when washing the car. I honestly had no idea that there were so many different types of sponges, and so this was especially interesting. They sell some Greek products (pressed olive oil, Greek soaps, bath items), but I prefer to shop for those products elsewhere on Dodecanese Boulevard. If you spend enough money in their store you'll get a discount on your parking, but honestly at $5 a day for general parking, I fail to see the need to get all excited about a parking discount. Go for the movie, but do your shopping elsewhere in the area.

It is a nice little place. But it is probably the most expensive ship around that area but they are friendly

A good selection of sponges. The prices seem to be a little high, but that can probably be attributed to the location.

I was not disappointed! The young men that helped me, Ben l, was very knowledgeable, I told him my problem with wigs, which is that they never fit. Apparently, I have a really small head, I had brought one of my own wigs in anticipation of hoping that he could help me understand it. Ben looked at it, saw the problem and immediately got to modifying it for me and now it fits perfect! I also purchased a synthetic wig which I have never done before. I always purchased human hair wigs, but I really loved the cut of this wig and I loved how easy it was to put on. Those usually fit better but again it was too big for me, but he quickly got to customizing it for me so that it fit just right. Women who find themselves in my position are put in a world that is overwhelming and they don't understand while also dealing with a horrible thing for a woman, and that is to lose her hair, in my case I always had thick long hair at one time my hair went all the way to the back of my knees, but for the last 30 years, it has been at my waist, this has been a heartbreaking experience, so it's nice to come across people who care, understand, and I moved to action, Ben didn't charge me to fix my wig, I learned a lot from him. I hope that I can go back to Oregon and fix my other ones. Posting pictures of the wig I purchased, most of my wigs are long like my hair was just because that's what I was used to, but I like this short version, now I'm going to look for one in human hair, the one thing I didn't like about this wig is it tangled very easily the hair was soft, but definitely feels like synthetic.

They're great people. They got great products if they can't help you, they will refer you to…read moresomebody who can.
