The theme this year is "Evil in the London Fog," and right when you enter, you feel like you've stepped into a foggy, cobblestoned, Victorian London of the past. This was my first haunted house I've ever done, and I don't like being scared. It is the perfect intro to haunted houses for someone like myself who is a scaredy cat - it was light on gore and very brief which made it manageable to walk through. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quite fast. The haunted house is built on their front yard (amazing), so you will get through it quite quickly. It is free, which is incredible for the amount of work that goes into it. However! There is a box where you can leave donations, and all proceeds go to Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter. Everyone who was working the haunt was so friendly, with fantastic themed costumes to boot. Absolutely wonderful vibes all around! They deserve no tricks and ALL the treats!

In fact, yard decorations/ front yard haunts are my favorite. I found the Haunt With No Name Yet many years ago. In those days I'd go to Boney Island, Hallowed Haunting Grounds (the best!!) and Grimmstone Cemetery (all now retired) and assorted other smaller haunts. What I've liked about these is the non-gore approach. Nasty gorey stuff doesn't really do it for me. I'd say that the Haunt With No Name Yet is the best of this style of haunt. I've watched this haunt grow and evolve over the years. It is a nice sort of traditional view of Halloween, with a dark, spooky feel. The basis is definitely founded on the supernatural. There are lots of nice effects, but the overall feel is quiet. It is the kind of place that you go and spend time looking. Even though you can see some things from the street, you definitely need to get out of the car and go up and take a closer look. On Halloween there are a lot of pumpkins, I'd say dozens, with traditional Halloween faces, I was told they are all carved that day. There also seem to be people of all ages that come look, and it seems appropriate for all. It is a bit spooky, but seems to be ok for families. Again, there is no gore, blood, guts, people jumping out and screaming etc. I have spoken with the people who operate this haunt and their enthusiasm for Halloween, and making a nice haunt is obvious. They are nice to talk to and not egotistical about it at all. Having a nice chat about Halloween makes it all the more fun. Ontario and Clark st is a good place to start your adventure. Those two streets have the best interactive haunted attractions in Burbank. It seems a lot of the studio heads get together and put together all the props and top Halloween decor. The festivities run until 10pm, but I suggest going around 6 or 7pm before the crowds. It's street parking only and it gets clustered up and down the streets the later it gets. It's a nice stroll and all the decorated houses are close by and not scattered. The Wicked House and Clown house were the highlight. It's free Entertainment!!!

I'll be honest to say that I'm not a big fan of wearing costumes during Halloween. I always have a hard time deciding what to wear when we're required at work to wear costumes. I'm not against it but I just didn't get used to it. However, I do enjoy seeing Halloween decorations and I chose the right place to live to enjoy such. They have the roads closed from Kester all the way down to Van Nuys Blvd on Ventura. There is someone controlling traffic which is nice. But parking will be crazy throughout the neighborhood. If you entering from Kester, that's where all the kids ride are held. There's a few things for them with zip line, the bouncy slides, and some rides. It's not a big selections but good for the young one. Ticket booth was right in the middle where rides are. We arrived not to long after they started. Around 12:30 which none of the games were even set up yet. By the time we left, they were up. The street fair seems to be more business vendors and food trucks. They did have pet adoption that brought loads of people to the sections. Two stages, the main one right in the middle while there was a smaller one at the opposite side on Van Nuys Blvd. Business were still open which is a big thing for them as it brings people inside. There's also a section that's blocked off for the adults alcohol section. Someone was at the entrance checking people's id. Overall, it was a nice little afternoon spent out. Was there a lot of vendors, somewhat. More of business promoting themselves and getting words out. They did have a good amount of food vendors which was nice.

The event is often hosted in the hotter part of the year as well, so if you're not a fan of the heat, that could be a concern. Personally, it doesn't bother me. It's great to see so many local businesses come out and give back to the community a bit. I'm glad we have this type of street fair on my side of town, and I'll plan to come every year they have it.
