Lined up at 6:30 PM and didn't get in until 8:10 PM, so about an hour and forty minutes total wait. The line was long (as expected), but crowd control was actually pretty good, and everyone seemed in good spirits. It's a free event, so a long line is understandable -- just something to plan for. The overall vibe inside was fun and worth checking out if you've got the patience. My only suggestion would be for them to open more than just four days in October. That would help spread out the crowds and make it easier for more people to enjoy the experience without such a long wait. read more

This haunted house earns 1 million chef's kisses, compliments to the chef! October 2021 is their 30th year anniversary, and as my first time visiting, I am hoping for many more so I can visit for years to come! The theme this year is "Evil in the London Fog," and right when you enter, you feel like you've stepped into a foggy, cobblestoned, Victorian London of the past. This was my first haunted house I've ever done, and I don't like being scared. It is the perfect intro to haunted houses for someone like myself who is a scaredy cat - it was light on gore and very brief which made it manageable to walk through. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quite fast. The haunted house is built on their front yard (amazing), so you will get through it quite quickly. It is free, which is incredible for the amount of work that goes into it. However! There is a box where you can leave donations, and all proceeds go to Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter. Everyone who was working the haunt was so friendly, with fantastic themed costumes to boot. Absolutely wonderful vibes all around! They deserve no tricks and ALL the treats! read more

Wow! Kudos the the family at this home. What a fabulous haunted house to put together, and at no cost to the public! Only a request for a donation for volunteers of animal abuse. This is atmospheric, eerie, and nautical themed. Quite the horrifying adventure. The costuming is superb, the walk through is scary, and the actors touch you! Yikes! I had my leg brushed by a "corpse" as I walked by. The scariest thing to me was the little boy with the wrench in his hand who looks at you and yells, "Get out of here!" The ghoul scaring us towards the exit had to break character for a moment when we couldn't find our way out. There was only a blank black wall....we didn't know where to go or what to do, and the ghoul mused aloud, "Well, let's see...the bad guy's BEHIND you....." Ultimately, we had to feel our way out through the black darkness. Scary, spooky, eerie, and thematic. Well done! Thank you, Burbank! read more

There are plenty of us who love Halloween and enjoy a good scare or celebration but can't afford the theme parks, Queen Mary, or other large productions which happen yearly at this time of year. If you live in the Valley: there is a solution to your Halloween needs! There is a house (and deemed production company) in Burbank who for the past 26 years (at the time of this review); has constructed and presented a FREE 'haunted house' in their every own front yard! I'm not even even talking some cheesy getup... this is a legit deal! So, what is this, you ask? Basically, every year this house transforms their front yard into an actual enclosed building that features a 'haunted house' that is full-on the real deal. It is open on weekends from 7-10pm and is FREE (they accept donations for a chosen charity each year. For 2016, it was the Burbank Animal Shelter). Guests line up for hours to experience the haunted house and is surprisingly not a crazy riot and are respectful (although I would still be extremely mad being their neighbor). The secret is to arrive at 6pm and form a line. The line gets insanely long and goes down the street so you will wait in line for up to hours and the actual haunted house is only about 5 minutes. Some may deem that unworthy so go early. The actual hoopla is amazing! You will be shocked at the time, energy, and detail that goes into this. The theme changes every year so it is incredible that they rebuild this annually. I can not imagine the planning that goes into it. I have experience in set dressing for the TV/film industry and even I am impressed. 2016's theme was "Not So Enchanted Forest" (previous years have featured Wizard of Oz, Alive in Wonderland, a circus, etc) and offered a replica of a forest complete with trees, moss, rocks, etc (it smelled like a craft store in there). It was stunning and again so impressive that someone did this at their home. The haunted house isn't terrifying and is more on the "jump out at you" -level but is lots of fun and definitely worth it--- I mean, it is free for God's sakes! In 2016, a few more 'workers' were involved in the haunted house so there are more people to jump out at you so it seems to be ever-growing. Plus, attention to detail is incredible as even while you wait in line, entertainers in costume walk around to try to frighten you, talk to you, etc. Again, the best part is also that it is free. It is SO generous that this family puts on such a spectacular celebration on their own dime and only asks for donations to a charity. You have to applaud that! So if you can't get to a theme park, and can make your way to Burbank: this is 100% recommended for children and adults alike and is something to check out every year. Rotten Apple 907 has all the thrills of a good Halloween maze, with none of the cost. This maze is actually the front yard of someone's home that has been converted into a little walkthrough of scares. The theme of the maze changes every year. This year's was a creepy Pinocchio story with scary dolls and clowns galore. The actors in the maze do a great job of being frightening inside and even outside the maze. The props and decoration was cool. It's so nice that they make it free to the public and just ask for donations to a charity that they are supporting this year. I definitely want to visit again next year! Note to come early as there is definitely a line! After all these years, I can't believe this is someone's front yard! Every Halloween we look forward the mazes/haunts. We've even traveled outside of the state! We enjoy the theme park events and smaller versions. The quality of show Rotten Apple puts together stands up with all of them. It's a fully immersive experience that lasts about 5 minutes. The entire set is on someone's front yard so there are some limitations. Nevertheless it's worth the donation to enter. This year's maze was evil portal themed. You enter a small cabin shack where a creature is slowly rocking back and forth. You head out the door and into a forest where 3 witches are mixing their brew in a large black cauldron. They are opening a portal dark spirits and creatures await. I'll stop there as to not ruin the surprise. Nevertheless you have to check out the maze. Get there early because the line does get long. Sometimes up to a 2 hour wait. read more

Rotten Apple 907 has been a long-time favorite walk-through home haunt in the heart of Burbank, with a new theme every year and impressive sets and costumes to match. This year's theme is The Death Triangle, a nautical horror adventure. As in previous years there's a little bit of story in store to elevate this attraction above the mere jump scares offered by some. Your adventure begins outside at the front of the line, where a traumatized sailor recounts to your group his harrowing tale of barely escaping his own visit to the Death Triangle. Given his warnings it seems unwise to enter the triangle yourself, but you've come this far, there's no turning back now, spoilers ahead. Ushered inside, you meet the captain, who has another warning for you now that it's too late. The ship is sinking and the crew is mostly dead, or undead as the case may be. Wind your way through the tilted corridors of the ship, avoiding the corpses of the crew and tentacles of the kraken until you find your way to the surprisingly breathable ocean floor. The real sand used on the floor here was a nice touch. I'm sure it's a chore for them to clean up, but the added bit of realism makes the experience all the more vivid. Rotten Apple spares no expense, and it's still a free haunt, though donations are accepted to support Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter. In the end there is no escaping the belly of the kraken, and if you don't want to be trapped with the sunken ship forever, the only way out is to enter the monster's maw. This Year's Rotten Apple is about five minutes long, and thought it's tame enough for your children, but with the homemade sets, costumes, and some jump-scares, it's definitely impressive for adults as well. The line starts at about 6pm for this well-known home haunt, and they may start turning people away from the line before 10pm so that they can close on time. This is one of my favorite Halloween activities. I'm always so impressed by the set, the costumes, makeup, because it's all so well done! It's a total 5 star event. The reason they get 1 star less because of their line. Not because it's long but because year after year I go and stand in line in order to avoid waiting too long at the end I go early and wait right in front and every year never fails they bring in groups of people who haven't waited and they just get to cut the line. That's really rude and unprofessional of them this is a by donation event there is no fast pass. Everyone should have to wait in line. Not fair that the first people in line still have to wait 30 minutes to get in. On top of the hour + they already waited before start time. Every year someone tells me after waiting in line an hour they left because they never moved. Yeah that's because of all those people on the side line that they let in. read more

Rotten Apple 907 is a neighborhood haunted house production that takes place every year towards the end of October. The entire production takes place within a temporary facade built right on top of a home's driveway and the theme changes each year. The Haunted Wisley Manor was the theme for this year's maze. Paranormal activity seems to have taken hold of every room in this elegant home. This may be the shortest haunted house I've attended this season, but this creepy residence is filled with a variety of surprises and illusions. The special effects and set decorations were by far the best out of the other neighborhood haunts I've been to. The cast was a little sparse, but they did a great job at scares when they did appear. Rotten Apple 907 charges for attendance at the awesome little price of free. If you attend this event, you can choose to donate and all proceeds go towards a different charity each year. PRO TIP: Arrive early. The lines for this Halloween event can actually get pretty long. Yelp Ok this place was AWESOME, I went the year of the Death Triangle/Kraken: - The sets were AMAZING. I WANTED TO LIVE THERE. Kinda. Not really. There were a lot of kraken/zombie/weirdos, but you feel me ;). Seriously it was gorgeous. The lights, the uneven flooring, the sand on the floor... The friggin hallway was teeth!!! IT LOOKED LIKE YOU WERE WALKING INTO A STOMACH COME ON IT DOESN'T GET COOLER THAN THAT. - The actors were great! The sailor that gave the monologue outside cracked us up, the creepy zombie captain with the contacts, and the adorable tiny sailor who jump scared me/my thigh as he yelled "GET OUTTA HERE!". Excellent. - It supports a great charity! Do it! Bring cash! - God they poured their creativity and research into this. I wish they could get some kind of award or something. It was just so cool to see someone love halloween this much that they would transform their yard/lives into this. Tips: - Get there early. The line was an hour plus and it was COLD. We went halloween night (lol I thought we had a chance bc people would be trick or treating... NOPE). - Bring cash! This is free but you should support the charity! The year we went it was for animals! - This is a family friendly haunt! My little brothers are terrified of being scared and they were not but we all had a great time! Don't go to be scared, go to see the amazing sets, the creative story, and to support a family who loves their craft and supports an amazing charity! I would say this is a haunt for kids but I don't want to downplay it's value - I got jumped a few times and it's still great at what it does, just because people aren't running at you with profanity and rubber chainsaws or whatever six flags or a bigger corporation would have! Go! Support! - It is VERY SHORT. They basically use all of their front lawn to their advantage. Totally worth it, although I have no idea how the line was that long given how fast we got through it. I guess it was just THAT popular! Congrats guys. - Don't wear heels. I know the haunt changes every year but I stood in line for an hour and THEN tackled sand/crazy floors and regretted it. I cannot imagine how it would be in stilettos. In summary: it is quick and it is fun and family friendly. I think we were in and out of the haunt within 3 minutes (not including the line). I love this place and I can't wait to go back next year. First off, it's free. The donations they accept are for charity, and I encourage you to give. A lot of time and effort went into this and it shows. Yes, it's a relatively short maze and if you're standing in line for an hour or more, you might be peeved. They don't control the length of the line and they're doing everyone a service here, so I find complaining about the 3 minutes you took to walk through their very detailed maze with lots of people within it working their butts off trying to scare people abhorrent. Mr. D and I stood in the drizzly rain for 45 minutes on Sunday night, surrounded by lots of others excited to give this front yard maze a try. The good folks here were so nice and really got into playing their characters. An evil witch handed us a poison apple to indicate we were in the next group and a zombified Snow White opened the door for us. Every few feet there's someone jumping out at you from all angles. I don't want to spoil it, but there's definitely been a lot of thought and work put into it. This year's theme is "Not So Enchanted Forest." We went through with another couple we met in line, and the man was shrieking at everything while his girlfriend giggled and squealed, kicking her feet excitedly. Once we were through she was jumping around and declaring they were getting in line again. Of the Burbank house mazes, I recommend lining up for this one first, as close to 7 p.m. (when they open) as you can, especially if you're doing a crawl. About 6 weeks ago, Rotten Apple 907 Haunt took a major hit in the form of a flash flood in Acton where they store their props, walls, and much more. There's been considerable damage by the water, mud and dirt and they've been working madly to clean it up and salvage what they can. Their misadventures have included a rogue bee colony that took up residence and falling in 4 foot "hidden" holes full of water. The flash flood was so strong it moved shipping containers and pulled concrete chain link fence posts out of the ground. Please help Rotten Apple replace some of what they lost to the flood and pay for workers to assist in the continuing cleanup. Prepare to wait in line and make sure you bring a coat if you are out late. Really fun home haunt! Loved the themed rooms and wonderful actors. The effects are cool. It's SUPER creative. The only drawbacks are the length of the line and the length of the house. It was almost a 2 hour wait but the maze is only a handful of rooms. I recommend checking it out if you have the time. My girlfriend and I heard about this place on a haunted house list to check out. It was the 6th one that we have tried this October. It is FREE, which makes it 3/5 stars, otherwise I would give it 2/5. I expected a long line, and that's exactly what I got. Waited about an hour and 10 minutes, and we only got in because we were a group of 2. Otherwise we would have easily of waited another 30 minutes. It is a VERY short maze. Maybe less than 5 minutes or so. The first room was very interesting and the production design for the rooms was very well done. There weren't any real scares or anything though. The scare actors talked, and that's a big no-no for me in haunted houses. When the actors talk, it humanizes them, which in turn turns them into regular people or actors (my opinion of course). Although the budget for this local haunt probably isn't high and it doesn't really compare with the big haunted houses around LA, it did an okay job. If any Rotten Apple people are reading this, I think you have to really utilize what you CANNOT see, rather than what you can see. I feel like that's where mazes go wrong. They show you everything in a room. People are afraid of the dark. They can't see what's in the dark. All proceeds go to charity which is great. =) So donate if you can. It's definitely worth the go because it's free. If you have a spare couple hours, I say do it. read more

Came here two years ago and I was a little hesitant because you rarely get a good scare out of homemade haunted mazes but this one was the perfect amount of scared and entertainment! At the end of the maze they have a donation jar and you give them as much as you want, which is nice! I love Halloween but hate how expensive they make every single maze and amusement park out there for October but ever since we found this spot its easy to find and give you the perfect amount of scare! The lines are long so be prepared to wait! The parking is a little bit of a hassle (we always come Halloween so its even worse) but it is free with donation so you can't complain! I love these home haunts. For charity events they really put a lot of their own money to boost the production value. I loved the set design of all the rooms. There were a lot of clever ideas in the maze which made me like it that much more. The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because they used a lot of animatronics. To me animatronics just aren't that scary. Some of the animatronics were really interesting to watch but that made the maze a little less scary. Overall I would still suggest this maze. It's hard to believe this has anything less than 5 stars - these people put on an incredible show for it just being a front yard haunted house, and it's all for free! The line does take a while, but there's only so much they can do about that and they do have people out there keeping the crowd entertained. The haunt only lasts a few minutes, but it definitely felt worth it and it was amazing to see how much they could fit in such a small space - there were probably 6-7 different rooms and settings, and plenty of actors to keep you on your toes. Yes, this is the shortest haunted attraction you're likely to ever go through, but -- room per room -- it's ingenious square foot effectiveness. Soak in a look to every corner and ceiling. LOVED the skeletal ghost flowing from atop one corridor, the maudlin detail of the (motorized) demon baby in the crib eating its own foot (!), and the hand crawling out from under the bed. The volunteer performers are quite strong: good scares don't come from someone suddenly yelling in your ear, and they realize that... from the ghoul dragging the shovel down the sidewalk to the older gentleman with the crazy contacts in the first room. One quibble: with the quick walkthrough, being in the back of a large group (say, 6) puts one at a disadvantage. Most of the frights are front-loaded. By the time the screamers subside, a person feels they've missed something. Perhaps it's possible to run smaller groups but faster? read more

Went today & arrived around 920pm. I was turned away saying the line was "cut off" due to the fact everything had to be wrapped up by 10pm. Was meeting a friend there so hung out for a bit only to see them still letting select people join the end of the line. My friend was turned away as well. Pretty Foul. To Santa & red robe friends at the end of the line, that's not a nice way to treat people who traveled from Lakewood & the San Fernando Valley to visit your maze for the first & last time.
