Found myself in Wooster around noon, and needed some lunch. Saw this spot on Yelp and decided to give it a try! Menu is soups, salads and sandwiches. From the looks of the space, they're a bar by night and lunch spot by day. Really cool old space with original hardwood floors, high cathedral ceilings and rustic charm. Ambiance was on point. Their menu is fairly unique. A number of custom house options that take traditional sandwiches and add stuff you wouldn't necessarily expect. I ended up getting one of their seasonal specials that is a play on a grilled cheese sandwich. It came on toasted, marbled, rye, with feta cheese, fresh, sliced jalapeños, fresh, sliced pineapple, and Swiss cheese. I always love, trying things that combine, savory, sweet, and spicy. So I was hoping for the best with this one, and it delivered. The sandwich came with hot waffle, fries, and a side of ketchup. Shout out to the two people working, as they were completely overwhelmed, but getting food out to tables regardless. I was expecting a pretty long wait time based on the orders ahead of me, but my food came out in under 10 minutes. I was impressed all things considered. My only small complaint is the pricing is just a little bit high for what you get. Especially a grilled cheese. It's just bread, pineapple, jalapeño, and cheese. I don't feel like that should cost $13. I wish the waffle fries came with it for that price. But they were an additional three dollars, as well as three dollars for a fountain drink. After taxes and tip, it was a little over $23. That's a pretty steep price to pay for what was supposed to be a simple lunch. I would definitely come here again, but not on the regular simply based on the high prices. read more

Came back for lunch with my family and had a nice experience. Place was clean, food was good, and ambiance was lovely. Unfortunately the food was really slow and the single bathrooms were an issue but there was a changing table which was nice. Had the burger and really enjoyed. The Bun was so soft and fluffy! Wow... this place used to be great, but we had the WORST experience there today. I will definitely never go back. The wait for food was ridiculous (we only ordered sandwiches) and when we asked, one of the workers told us if we didn't like it we could leave. If you have had a good experience here in the past, don't go back... it will ruin the memory of a place that used to be really cool. read more

The soup of the day was wild rice and chicken--very rich and dense. Lots of chicken. The homemade bread was cornbread but way too sweet and too wet. Dislike being asked to tip before there is any service. Like the industrial ambiance of the space which is long and narrow. read more

We enjoy the decor, love the fresh ingredients, your food is delicious and we always receive excellent customer service. In fact we always enjoy dining there, then getting a bag of To Go goodies! Came here for breakfast. Got the French Connection and my friend got the Zimmy. Both were delicious. Also enjoyed the kale chips. Nice crunch and saltiness. Definitely coming back. Came during COVID and place was really clean with plenty of hand sanitizer available. read more

To be honest, I did not enjoy my second visit nearly as much as my first. We took a small group of here because we loved it so much a year and a half ago, but their new location was not what we were expecting. There were tables at the front and at the back of a long narrow room, but you ordered food at the counter in the middle (no table service unlike at the old location), so we were very uncertain if we were supposed to order food first, or seat ourselves, or what. There were some busy servers and bussers but we didn't encounter a staff member we felt comfortable asking for clarification. I think a lot of the confusion could very easily be cleared up with some signage ("seat yourself", etc) and maybe putting some menus up at the front too (they only seemed to have them at the counter, so you have to get in line or cut through to look at the options). Also, this seems like a silly complaint but it did add to my disappointment - the table we sat at was way too low for the stools. We felt like we were hunching over out food and at risk of getting it all over our shirts. All that being said, everyone loved their meals! I got the Market Salad which was a little bland until I asked for extra toppings (which they very kindly provided at no charge). The little market area was very fun as well. I really hate leaving negative reviews, I try to only use Yelp to shout out positive experiences or stellar customer service, but I wanted to leave a follow up because if you have only been to their old location be prepared for a very different dining experience. Went to my first special event at Spoon tonight. $30 for a bourbon tasting with food accompaniments. EXCELLENT IDEA. The bourbons were all delicious. There were meat and cheese appetizers with a great bar snack mix. The entrees were either flank steak, short ribs, or stuffed shells. And the dessert was bourbon peach cobbler. This is a Wooster icon. I LOVE The Spoon. Every person who comes to visit me gets a meal from there. The menu goes from breakfast to lunch to dinner fare with ease and the bar is second to none. I am not sure where the owners found the bartender, but he is the best ever! read more

Good but a little on pricey side. The Italian hot grinder was good! High quality meats, and when toasted you got the melty, greasy, just right blending of flavors. The kale chips were very good and fresh made there. One in our party bought some deli salads. The buffalo chicken pasta was very good! But the Pad Thai was disappointing - not a lot of flavor. Another small thing keeping them from 5 stars was the alternate side to really good homemade Kale Chips was the 2for a $1 size bag of Lays Potato chips. The nicest looking place in Wooster. Despite its mixed retail/deli/butcher focus, nothing here seems crowded. The interior has a warm combination of shiny industrial fixtures, wood, and brick; it feels open and airy. I can already tell this will be the ideal spot to pass time come March, when the sun hasn't appeared in over two months. So far, the standout of the place for me is, surprisingly, the coffee. As far as I can tell, Spoon brews coffee in small batches, so that you're never going to get a cup that's been sitting around for several hours. They've also chosen tremendous roasters and beans. The coffee here easily surpasses that I've found anywhere else in town. The sandwiches -- including breakfast sandwiches -- look great, though I've yet to try one. The one somewhat bleak spot was the "bagel," which was really more of a wheat roll -- a very dry and very heavy wheat roll. Even Muddy Waters has better bagels than this. The plus, though, is that Spoon doesn't give you a meager helping of cream cheese in a plastic container, so I'll retain some hope that they start outsourcing bagels from somebody with goldeneh hendts. read more

Spoon is simply a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I enjoy trying their seasonal specials so ask about those if you don't see them posted. My favorite regular menu items have to be the market salad, daily soup and The Odd Couple. I definitely recommend making it a combo with the kale chips. read more

Wow! I love this place. Great atmosphere. Sort of a deli/cafe but also has a small bar area. Fresh food made basically in front of you. The kitchen area is open viewing with a large glass window. Deli sandwiches, soups and salads. I've been here twice and got the same salad with added smoked chicken. YUM! It has cranberries, pecans and blue cheese crumbles with a cherry vinegarette dressing on the side. Makes for a nice light lunch. The decor is open with high ceilings and they offer high top tables or a booth. Not a lot of seating but never had a problem in my visits. Great place for a small lunch meeting. Seen several while here. They also have a small market area to purchase Boarhead lunch meats and many other niche items you won't find at a local grocery store. This is becoming one of my favorite places for lunch downtown Wooster. Give it try. read more
