This was probably the BEST Thai food I've ever had! I wasn't expecting anything better than average, but I was exceedingly surprised. I believe our server, Vee, was also the owner or manager. I ordered the "New England Crispy Duck." There were several tasty ingredients in the dish that I didn't recognize, and when I asked Vee what they were, they took the time to explain that they sourced the lychee and lotus from Asia, not locally! I've never had lychee or lotus before, but I loved them! I can't wait to buy lychees at an Asian market the next time I see them. I am not a big sake drinker. My introduction to sake in college was cheap, bottom shelf sake, the equivalent of Natty Light beer, and I hated it. I was introduced to quality sake in San Francisco last year, and loved it. I explained this to Vee, and they offered to bring me a sample of their only sake before committing to a carafe. It was delicious, and perfectly complimented the food! I will definitely be returning to Spoon Thawee! read more

This is one of the best Thai meals we've had!Everything was fresh and flavors authentic, distinct and delicious! The location is tough for a restaurant and atmosphere a bit rustic but the staff are very warm and super Friendly! I hope folks get out there to have some great food and keep these folks making it! Visited in late June 2026 on our way though town and LOVED the experience. This is some of the best Thai/Thai-American food I've ever had. I prefer a mild-to-medium-spice-level, while my husband loves spicier food, and we both found the spice levels in our dishes perfectly to our likings. The chef/owner (who is also super welcoming and provides delightful service) remarked that they make everything in house, and that is reflected in the quality and freshness of the food. Everything from the appetizers and Thai iced tea to the curry and fish special were absolutely delicious. Oh, and the kitty-cat shaped rice was an adorable touch. Wish we lived closer so we could visit more often! Definitely will stop again when we're in the area. read more

We LOVE this place! We've ordered take out a few times and all times it's been delicious! The owners and staff are so sweet and welcoming, I love the little notes we've gotten written on our bag or receipt :) they have a few vegan options for myself (recently found out their peanut sauce is vegan and I'm thrilled because it's WILDLY delicious) and my partner says the chicken wings are in his top 3 favorite restaurant meals of his life- thanks for being a wonderful part of the community! read more

Bought a take-out meal for three on April 17. We pass through St Johnsbury a few times a year, picking up or dropping off a family member at the Academy. Up till now, our food experience has not been notable. Spoon Thawee was a highly satisfying exception! My New England crispy duck in a delectable coconut curry was simply delicious; the kind of dish you resent sharing with others because you cannot stop eating it yourself! We also had sticky rice, pad thai, dumplings and other dishes. The curry heat is just right, not incendiary. Now, how can I get back there again? Easily the best Thai food I've ever had and I've tried plenty of places. After a long, day at Burke Mountain, this spot was exactly what I needed. Place is relaxed the flavors are bold and authentic, and the spice level is dialed in perfectly--just enough heat with an incredible flavor. Every bite hit. Spoon Thawee was one of the recommended restaurants at our hotel. We hadn't had a Thai meal for awhile, so decided to give this one a try. We are so glad we did! We split an order of gyoza to start. The sauce was incredibly good. My wife had the Grandma's Korea special with chicken, I had the special Khao Soi. The presentations were lovely, and the food was some of the best Thai food that we've had, and I've been to some very good Thai restaurants. Vee, the owner/chef/greeter was delightful to talk with. We moved to St J Dec 2024 and the first place we tried was Spoon Thawee which had just opened up themselves. We instantly loved the welcoming atmosphere and large amount of vegan dishes. Since then we go at least twice a month and it's never failed to leave us satisfied! The food and service are great and we feel like family whenever we go. We moved from the food Mecca New Orleans and it's nice to have such a great place in town. If you're visiting or local add it to your list! read more

I'm not sure how we got so lucky to have this amazing Thai restaurant in the Northeast Kingdom. This place has only been open a month and is already serving some amazing and authentic Thai dishes. The quality, presentation, atmosphere, smiling staff and genuine flavors are just like you find in Thailand. We had the New England Crispy duck and I can see why they said it's a favorite. Crispy outside, delicious and tender, perfect flavor with not a hint of gamey taste. Panang curry broth was outstanding and spiced perfectly. The Sukiyaki, which we've had dry before, is a hearty flavorful soup you won't want to out your spoon down. No pics but get the coconut custard at the end. Delicious and comes with a cool surprise. All of this combined with visiting and laughing with the owner and her staff at the end made for a perfect meal. read more

First, the menu is well organized and easy to understand with the degree of spiciness clearly indicated for each selection. The service in the small dining area has been top notch each time we've been there with the personable owner often coming out of the kitchen to chat. We've had stir fry, fried rice dishes, featured specials, and multiple appetizers when visiting and have never had an unsatisfactory dish. The crab rangoon is exceptional, the Vegetable Stir Fry or Cashew Stir Fry has been hot, well presented, and delicious as has the Garlicy Green Bean. I recommend highly. read more

I am incredibly excited to have a restaurant of such high quality so close to home. I was immediately welcomed and seated in the cozy but nicely redecorated dining room. The staff were attentive and provided me and my partner ample time to have a conversation prior to ordering - we weren't rushed. The server ensured we understood what we were ordering. The food came quicky and was fragrant and outrageously delicious. I had the jungle curry with tofu. The dish looked beautiful, the spice level was just right and the ingredients were prepared perfectly. Even though it was busy, the chef came out to check in and wish us a good day.
