I got a Yeti thermos cup, under the sign of Yeti Yeti Drinkware all at 25% discount. So, got to the teller and she charged me full price, so I told her that it was at 25%, she said now, all selected drink ware but Yeti. I went on and got the sign and brought to her and she phoned someone, the first thing she says in the phone: "Yeti drink ware are not in special, right?" and don't know what the other person told her, and really does not matter, first, whoever it is should come to me, it didn't, and the main thing, the sign Says all Yeti Drinkware at 25% discount, my son (19 years old) was with me and he argued the same, but she just refused to give me any discount, therefor I left the mug there. Stay away, this people are very dishonest, I could even invoque the law, they had to honor the price, but I let go. read more

Ok this goes to Sport Chek management at WEM. I placed my order online, everything was going along swimmingly. I chose the curbside pickup. And later that day I received a confirmation email saying my order was ready... Great ! This is pretty much where my happiness ended. Arrived at the exterior exit to the store. "Entrance Closed" sign. Another Sign indicated curbside pick up was "In Store". I think you are missing the point. Curbside means I don't have to go into the store. In a PANDEMIC, I don't want to go into your store ! Reluctantly, I find an entrance that is open, follow the signs around the mall and social distance. I arrive at the store and there are stanchions to limit the number of people in the store (which I totally understand). There is a person standing out front to control this. I ask this person, I have pre-ordered and was going to do curbside, but instead I have to come into the store. The person says, that the order would either be at the Front Cashier, or the Rear Cashier. Ok, you should really know which one I should be directed to. Since the Front cashier is steps away from this person, I go there. I'm told, "Oh no, you have to go to the Rear Cashier. Also get that person to let you out the rear doors". I suggest that the cashier tell the person at the front to provide this information to the greeter who is literally within earshot. So that they don't misdirect others. I take the long walk to the back of the store (keeping in mind I don't want to be in the store to begin with). There is no one around. So I wait and someone finally emerges. They struggle to find my order, wanting to look at my id and order number several times. Once I finally get my ordered good, I said, I was directed to use the rear doors by the front cashier. I'm told that the doors are closed and only staff are allowed to use them. So if this was a fire I'd have to run back thru the entire store ? I also said I wanted curbside pickup, and I was told that I should have called the store. My response to this was... "and where on the signs outside is the store number ? It's not on the confirmation email !" I was abruptly told that I should have "Looked it up" ! Ok, So in Summary, Sport Chek. Put yourself in the shoes of your customer. 1) A number on the outside doors, to honor those that don't want to go into your store during a Pandemic. 2) Inform your staff - 3 different people with 3 different understandings. How hard is it to tell your people what to do ? The only reason for 2 stars and not 1, is that your staff were generally nice, but not clued in - Which is not their fault. It's the fault of the sub-par communications of the management at the sport chek WEM location. read more

Some things don't change over the years and it seems like poor service is a consistent at Sport Chek. We came looking for running shoes and there was no staff in view. We saw a guy coming out of the shoe area and went to approach him. He was helping other customers but did come by and we told him what size we needed. He went to get the necessary size and gave us the boxes and then walked away. I'm not sure where he went to as he wasn't helping the other customers or any others and I think he went back in hiding in the backroom. Maybe he had other work to do but it doesn't seem it's a priority to help customers or stick around if they may need help or another size. Luckily for us the shoes fit and we decided to get them and made our way to pay. I did browse around the store and there's a good variety of clothes for working out but even with the limited items on sale, the prices were still higher than I would pay at other stores or online. We went to pay and the cashier processed our payment but wasn't very friendly in doing so. But they do accept the Scene card here to collect points. It almost seems like they're practising for a zombie apocalypse here. The greeter is the only person that may slightly smile but what's the point of having someone in that role when you don't have enough people working in the shoe department? read more

Sport Chek is one of my first choices when I'm looking for sporting equipment. They carry a variety of equipment and clothing for popular sports. That being said, I find that their equipment is very general and nothing specialized. If you're looking at getting into a sport, this is a good place, otherwise I would go to most specialized stores. I like their selection of shirts and shorts. They're not too expensive and have a good fit when I work out. I come here to try their badminton rackets as well, but most of their lower end models are already a few years old and heavier. This is ok if you're getting into the sport, but I find that if you're more serious about the sport, you should try the specialty stores. Skiing is another reason why I come here. I like their winter sales on their jackets, as well as ski equipment. I bought my first pair of skiis here and they were great for me to learn on. You can get a lot of ski equipment like helmets and gloves for good prices here too. I found the sales staff to be poor, if not non-existent here. All they seemed to care about was putting their number on the barcode so that they got commission. Once they did this, it was hard to find them again. Customer service is definitely a weak point in this store. read more

Sport Chek brings me back to the days when I was obsessed with basketball! Oh, how I miss those days. Sport Chek is a pretty safe bet when you are looking for something sports related. They have clothes, they have gear, they have sports. That's what they do. Something that surprised me about Sport Chek was the fact that they have great winter boots! Who would have thought?! I was having trouble finding winter boots that I liked and a friend recommended Sport Chek. I was doubtful but I went anyways because I was getting desperate (my feet were freezing). I ended up buying two pairs of boots (buy one, get the second half off) and they are so cute! They aren't ugly clunky winter boots. They are adorable, fashionable, warm boots! I love them! One thing I've noticed about Sport Chek is that it can be a bit of a challenge to get a staff member to help you out. The store is huge and there aren't that many staff so you sometimes need to hunt someone down. In the case of boots though, it was totally worth it. read more

Sport Chek is a huge store with so many items. They carry clothing and equipment related to pretty much every sport. They have a great selection and I find the store is actually too big. You have to take your time walking through it. It's a safe bet though when you are looking for typical stuff like hockey sticks but when you need more like the full gear you would be better off checking somewhere like United Cycle because they are pretty much dedicated to this kind of equipment. Sport Chek does pretty well in supplying the basics. You won't find staff to help you here. Mostly because the store is massive and it's hard to find anyone but that is one of the annoying things about Sport Chek. read more

All we did was ask him a simple question and he gave us some attitude about using our eyes, and that he is busy. This particular Sport Chek is probably my least favorite location, and I say that only because the customer service here is brutal. Unfortunately, this store is both convienent (being located in West Edmonton Mall) and one of the largest locations, meaning it carries a number of items that the other stores don't, including the style of running shoe I prefer. Tracking down a sales associate in the shoe section to get a size is next to impossible when they are busy. I try to avoid shoe shopping like the plague on a weekend. On the busiest days they usually only have two staff members working the massive wall of shoes, so even if you are lucky enough to see someone who works at the store, they are often running off to the back to get a size. Even when I went during the week and was the only person trying on shoes, the staff member who got my shoes disappeared as soon as he got the boxes, and I didn't see him for the rest of my time in the store. Last summer my fiancee was looking for some specialty compression shorts sold by Under Armor, and when we couldn't find a staff member anywhere in the clothing department we went to different departments to ask for help. The first two people we asked said "that's not my department" and wouldn't help us. The third girl we asked helped us begrudgingly. When my fiancee was trying them on I could hear her complaining to another employee about how difficult we were being, and how it was ridiculous that we expected her to help us. I guess asking "do you have any other styles or sizes?" counts as being difficult. If you want any help buying products, or are easily frustrated wandering around a large store looking for staff, this is not the the store for you. read more

When I heard that Sport Chek had moved into a larger location in the mall, I thought to myself, can it actually get bigger? Turns out I was wrong since it now occupies most, if not, all of the space that was formerly Ed's Rec Room. Space wise, it's pretty huge. Nearly every department in the store got a boost from the selection of shoes, active wear and sports gear, it's really a one-stop shop for anything sport-related products. Trekking into the inner depths of the place, I noticed that they integrated another store, Atmosphere, on the upstairs which focuses on traveling, hiking and backpacking goods. One thing that stood out is that Spot Chek incorporated a lot of high tech stuff around the store. I don't know how big their electricity bill is, but it was a little distracting when I was browsing since the displays would either be showing an ad or a video. I do like however that they have included interactive elements like a golf simulator and a climbing treadmill (first time I heard of it!) to make your shopping experience more personalize. Store associates are plentiful, if not a bit too much since I saw a few wandering around. Still helpful on helping out where an item despite that the large touch screen displays scattered around the store basically do the same thing if not more. read more

When i think Sport check, i think all sport related. Which is nice we need stores like that but i have yet to find a reason to buy anything in the store. Only other reason to walk through the store because of this is the only other way to get to Ed's Rec Centre for the time being and always get bombarded by customer service specialist asking if i need a hand. Which is great to see on the customer service side of business. I have yet to go in any deeper into the Atmosphere side of the store, which is upstairs i believe? Now that is a great store; great travel, backpacking goods for sale. This location is very similar to all the rest. They have done a nice job with placement of product and over all area placement within the store. One thing that hasn't changed over the years and I mean many, many, many years......I used three "many" there to show just how long I'm talking about. Do you know what that one thing is, the customer service, there is always that one employee in the store busting their ass while the rest are just like, "meh, whatever, everything will be fine". I get this time of year is busy, let's put that on the table, but your sections where completely understaffed when I was there. I was there yesterday between 4:30 and 5:30 pm for a minimum of 45 minutes. Myself and friend were looking for swim wear for his trip to Mexico, I happen to spot a pair of winter sneakers I had an eye out for....specifically the DC Spartans. I found the one guy, one! Manning the entire section. With one guy in the back. It wasn't full of people, I would say about 5 to his one, I eventually got my pair to try on, while another guy was trying on the demo shoe. Mine didn't fit and as I went to go ask for another size he was gone. I waited for a while, then my friend and I decided to go check his section and come back to mine trying to get another size in the shoe. We came back, I found the guy, there were non left in my size except for the demo....which another guy was trying on again. He didn't take them, so tried them on and took them. Getting to the till, I explained to the guy how these were demo shoes and multiple people had tried them on, in fact I can only imagine how many people had tried them on. I said, "I would appreciate a discount" par for the situation I had already explained, this was very reasonable in my eyes. The guy at the till thought this reasonable and had the manager come over, I explained my thought process. The manager gave me a hard "no", and his response was less than adequate stating "they haven't been out there that long" and he walked away, as did I. Maybe they haven't, but they've been worn and tried on by every foot in village six ways from Sunday you T. My point is if your unwilling to give a discount you can just say, "sorry I can't do it", don't be an ass. The reason I walked away wasn't that I could not get a discount, I'm not a bargain shopper, I spend my money foolishly to be quite honest. I walked away due to poor communication skill from a manager, the clerk had a better perspective than he did. Here's a tip sportcheck, have your management staff watch a cheesy 80's customer service and marketing video called, "give them the pickle", it's actually quite amazing and can give managers a bit of an insight to communication and getting those return customers. I realize you could probably care less but so much improvement could be made with stores through a couple small tweaks. Instead of me spending 45 mins in the store, I could have been in and out in 15 minutes by having a more refined floor management plan in place. When I finally found a staff member to talk to, they said they would be with me as soon as they finished with the customer they were currently helping. I was completely fine with that - but when I waited in sight of that employee for 15 minutes and was then ignored as they went to help someone who had just walked up to them, I was less than impressed. Eventually I found someone else who sent me to the service department. The employee here was the only one who seemed reasonably happy to help. Getting the mounting done was delayed when they neglected to mention that I needed to pay on my way out before they would do the work (I had already asked to pay once, and they told me not to until they had everything together). When I showed up two hours later to collect my product and pay, I also found out that they had forgotten to mention the mounting fee, so I had to wait in a long line and pay more than expected. Most stores would waive the $20 mounting fee at this point to compensate for the inadequate experience. Overall, the employee in the service department was the only bright spot of this experience. read more

I don't qualify as anything near sporty but even I was fairly impressed after visiting this Sport Chek with my volleyball enthusiast cousin. The departments are all huge and they carry the brand names everyone loves like North Face,Roxy,DC,Nike,and Under armor just to name a few. Clothing and shoes are downstairs and other equipment can be found on the top level. If you are really struggling though there is a touch screen map at the front of the store to help guide you to your goal. Like alot of other yelpers mentioned in their reviews staff here can be hard to find and the few we did come across were busy with other customers. We finally had a young lady approach us as we were leaving but by then we had to depart quickly or we were going to miss our movie. Items here are a bit on the pricey side but I think one has to expect that when dealing with higher end brands. There were a few things on sale throughout the store but no big blow out specials worth mentioning. If your a sports fanatic needing some new gear it's highly likely they can help you find what your looking for....just be prepared to do alot of browsing and pay brand name prices. read more

My son took my ski's and boots to sport chek south center repair shop to have my bindings adjusted to my boots and they refused to do them. said something was wrong with my bindings. My bindings were new and very expensive bindings nothings wrong with with them but after that tried to sell my son a pair of skis. of course my son said no. i was shocked. i took my equipment to sporting life and they were happy to adjust them no problem for $ 15.00 bad on you Sport chek .
