If anyone is looking for a bicycle, avoid shopping at any Sport Chek store all together because what they sell is not worth buying due to poor quality equipment and a lack of replacement parts etc. Sport Chek is owned by Canadian Tire so you might as well go there and buy a bicycle of poor quality. Find a legitimate store that sell good quality bicycles that may be more in price but at least you get a better warranty for the bike plus better quality parts that can be ordered if needed for replacement. The biggest problem with Sport Chek is that their customer service skills are very poor and they have no knowledge when it comes to answering your questions because they have not been properly trained or have any experience in regard to the department they are working in especially bicycles. All they care about is suckering you in to buy a specifically expensive bike so they can make a sale then take your money and after that they basically tell you to flock off and are not helpful in any way afterwards. Even their own head office do not have any care as to how customers feel after being mistreated by specific managers or even some of the employees themselves. After that, they treat you disrespectful and accuse you of being someone you are not which in turn makes anyone not want to come back to any of their stores. Avoid Sport Chek in any way as you will be able to find better quality equipment elsewhere from a trustworthy retail store. read more

I purchased badminton racquets from this store but didn't know that it comes with cover until recently. So I went back and asked for the cover and the cashier was able to help me out. Even though she was wearing a face mask, I know she had a smile on her face. Really appreciate her customer service. Store itself has okay selection. You'll find the usual sports items but if you are looking for specialty item for example Arc'teryx, then they don't have it. Seems like only street parking is available at this location. read more

I thought this Sport Chek is big. It looks big outside but not inside. So came here to get my snowboard wax. The location is close to my workplace. So that is a plus. The place is nice and clean. Staff are friendly. I did notice they don't have a lot of sizes. Well I was looking for a pair of snowshoe and I didn't find anything that would suit me. This large Sport Chek location is a little out of its element amongst all the other independent and outdoor-centric stores located all along this portion of Broadway. Their deals may be decent, however their staff definitely can not compare with the knowledge of those working for the love of it at all the other specialty outdoor stores further down. Smallest store by far. but today, the great deals don't hurt, 50% off plus an additional 25% off on some clearance items, lots of Under Armour stuff. Nothing much in the way of sales on hockey gear, as they don't have any goalie stuff here. Metrotown and Richmond Centre's much better for this. Good sales on all kinds of runners but limited sizes. My biggest peeve, though sound a bit ungrateful for its free underground parking, is the back entrance, down this ridiculously tight turn down the ramp; first off, you have to actually buzz 10 to get someone there to finally answer it--took what looked like 30seconds, luckily no one behind me, but if you drive a Ford 150 or whatever, all i can say is watch your bumpers lol. whichever smart ever engineering genius should be reprimanded. read more

Abysmal customer service today. Purchased a bicycle rack from a different location a short while ago and was advised I could return it if it didn't work out. Tried it out and the rack didn't fit two bikes unless you took the pedals off, so not great. My 1-star review isn't about the product though - sometimes it just doesn't work out. Walked into the store to return it and as soon as the sales associate at the counter saw the box had been opened his first comment was "Oh, fun" and rolled his eyes. Didn't want to help. Argumentative the entire time I tried to speak to him. Offered a store credit but also threatened he could "even just refuse the return" altogether. A real piece of work. Sport Check, do yourselves a favor and take this awful human being off your payroll. I returned to the original location I had purchased from and received great service. read more

I was on a shopping spree when I came into the store to buy a chrono watch. I walked in an conveniently found the display case directly beside the front door. I looked over a few models, read some reviews online and then checked out some of the other gear in the footwear and running sections of the store. I spent a total of 20 minutes in the store and was not once approached or offered assistance. I ended up leaving without having even tried a watch on because they did nothing to earn my business. Their prices do not compete with online retailers anyway so I'm happy that I left and bought on Amazon. read more

Booo. While I did make a purchase here, I was less than impressed with their customer service. Considering I used to work at one of their sister stores (back when Atmosphere was still Coast Mountain Sports) in my starving student days, and I know how much pressure they put on their floor staff to perform, I couldn't believe the lack of help at this location. I was there for at least half an hour, and neither me nor my partner were asked once if we needed help. And I could have actually used some. But I couldn't even find anyone! Let alone figure out their bizarre store layout. When making my purchase the clerk was at least friendly, but when he asked if I had been helped by anyone, I said, quite curtly, "Nope!" So, good luck finding what you need. At least they have some good sales events. Beware of old employee stickers on your purchase items. The Metrotown store is particularly bad for this, but it can happen here, too. Employees will leave their sales number on items so they can get commission, even if they didn't help you. read more

Do not get your skis waxed here they did a terrible job. I am now on a 7 day ski holiday and it feels like my skis have glue on the bottom.

With the rainy weather now upon us I was on a mission for a descent rain jacket that could breathe. Since I had been at MEC and they didn't have anything I liked or could use I stopped here. The store isn't too bad but the customer service was lacking or I should say wasn't there at all. Even when they walked by us they didn't say anything. I was VERY disappointed for such a store. Although I didn't find what I was looking fo,r it's selection is limited in comparison to the other Sport Chek stores that I have gone to. I think they're really working on their customer service because when I walked in I got a hello, I had a friendly person to deal with when I was buying my daughter's shoes and when I was paying the cashier asked me if the salesperson was helpful and if I was able to find everything I needed. My transaction ended with friendly chit chat and a "have a nice day!" OK, maybe it was a bit much, but at least they're trying. I don't go here that often because there are so many other outdoor stores around, but I usually get my kid's running shoes here and once in a while I get my running shoes also. Prices are reasonable, not fantastic. I do find it a bit odd that they just bring you the pair of shoes out to try on and then disappear. In this area they're definitely not in the same league as a place like the Run Inn or The Running Room. read more

I would give them 0 stars but it won't let me. So Thursday last week. I had a friend drop me at the top of Mt seymour I rode down the road, To the start of the MTB trails rode the trails off the mountain then I rode on the road over the lions gate bridge and then up to the outdoor stores on Broadway's. I was in the hunt for a hydration pack. Admittedly I was dirty, sweaty and probably a little smelly I just rode about 40kms on a hot day. So I started at MEC then worked my way through most of the shops looking for the right pack. All the shops were super friendly and helpful. UNTILL SPORTS CHECK. At one point I had 4 staff standing in a semi circle about 5 feet behind me, making sure I was not going to steal anything, I even heard one of the female staff say why is he even in here, who goes shopping that sweaty. Then one of the staff takes the hydration pack out of my hands and asks me or tells me ARE YOU GONNA BUY THAT. I said I'm just looking to see what style and size I'm looking for. Then he told me to go home a look online and order it from the website. THE WHOLE REASON I WENT TO THE STORE IS TO FIND A BAG THAT I LIKE AND THAT WILL FIT MY RIDING GEAR. by the way I knew I was sweaty and that's the reason I never put the Bag on my back. I figured if I'm not going to buy it right there and then, why should I put my sweat on it. I will not be returning. read more

When I told her what I was looking for, she said the manager would meet me by the case, and he quickly did. Pretty big store, but despite that, it didn't have a snowboard bag the met my cousin's specifications -- that it have wheels. Come on now! We were told that a snowboard bag with wheels would be at the PC location and when we got there, no such bag was in stock. My first time at Sport Chek yesterday, I was looking for ice skating, the seller was very nice, checked my size and gave me options. As I am just planing to start ice skating, I asked for a cheap option, he gave me one that I really liked and told me the price of $69.99. I told him I was just going to take a look in a store in the next corner to decide. I went back 30 minutes later, the seller was gone, another seller gave me the ice skating I chose and at the checkout the price was almost double of what i was informed! I talked to the manager who did not even try to help with the situation, did not offer ANY discounts, did not find me another suitable option or anything. First and last visit to this store. The cashiers & floor staff are great at this location, but the management is a total fiasco story! I received an online coupon towards any purchase, online or in store....I needed to try on the shoes, so went to the store. When I went to pay for my purchase, I presented the e-coupon (reference number) to the cashier - she said that it HAD to be printed on paper in order to be redeemed....NO WHERE on the email or in ANY small print from Sport Check does the coupon say it needs to be printed....(direct quote from the email) - "... For purchases at Sport Chek retail locations, Welcome offer coupon must be surrendered at time of purchase..." The manager came to the front and said that Sport Check had changed their requirement....they used to accept the e-coupon, but now required it printed in order to extend the discount. He told me I could go home and print the coupon and have my bill adjusted when I returned. I challenged him on where it says that it requires to be printed ....he told me that the rules had changed and walked away....no sorry, no I understand your frustration - just a matter of fact, take it or leave it... Terrible customer service. We were looking for a small men's very warm (i.e. for southern Ontario cold) winter coat that was not "down"-filled. When we finally found a service person, he thought "down" meant "long"; that we didn't want a full-length coat. When we clarified, he said he worked in footwear and that he would call the coat specialist. She didn't show up so 15 minutes later I asked him about her and finally she showed up. She started showing us windbreakers that we could add under layers to. NOT!!! We were reading labels and finding warmth indexes on some of the coats. She seemed to know nothing about any of the product. Her first question--and his--was which brand I liked. If i cared about brand, I would have been checking out that section. Clearly, by my request, I cared about warmth and non-down insulation and size primarily and even if I HAD cared about brand, neither of the service people knew anything about the brands' product lines anyway!
