Cute place for kids to teens, about as fun as it always was (except there are no more batting cages).

We came here for a classmate's 7th birthday party. Upon entry, a party host inquired which party we were attending, crossed off my daughter's name, and asked what her ice cream preference was. Straight off the bat, it was very organized. We arrived a few minutes late, but we didn't miss much, as they initially started out with the kids playing in the soft playground area. The room has a rock wall, soft gym (no shoes) with ball pit, and a bouncy house. There was a host in there, watching the kids. There is a small area for parents to sit. The venue space is pretty big. It definitely looks like a warehouse that they kind of mismatched things together, to make it an event space/family amusement space. The look is odd. Some of the party rooms resembled wedding reception halls, with the kind of decor they had. I mean, the kids didn't notice but I'm sure the adults will wonder why, as we did. After the soft playground, the kids got to go on some of the rides. They had all the kids line up in an orderly fashion as they all calmly transitioned from one space to the other. They had fun driving the bumper cars. Parents were able to ride with smaller children that could not drive in their own. Our party was filled with 6, 7 & 8 year olds, so most were able to fit three kids to a car. They also have a Free Fall ride that a lot of the kids liked, and a more intense, Super fly ride, that I was surprised my kid even went on. The hosts definitely let the kids know that it's a scarier ride, without scaring them. They simply asked who's brave enough to try out Superfly, and the more reserved kids got the gist, bowing out. After the rides, they went back to the soft playground, where parents recevied coffee and the kids played until it was time for lunch. When the hosts gathered the kids for pizza and ice cream, they brought them to the party room, and immediately gave them all hand sanitizer. Everyone had pizza and lemonade, already waiting for them at their table settings. There was plenty of pizza, so the parents were also served, if we wanted. The birthday boy got to make his sundae first, and then they served all the kids ice cream with whipped cream. This part kind of grossed me out. The hosts initially had on gloves when serving the pizza, but took them off when serving out the ice cream cups. Soon after, I noticed one of the hosts with whipped cream on her finger, which suggested that her bare hand was coming into contact with the whipped cream coming out of the can. She kept serving the kids the whipped cream, and then proceeded to lick her finger, and go right back to serving more whipped cream. She licked her finger a second time, and gave the whipped cream can to the other host. I was so disgusted, but relieved that she had already given my kid the whipped cream prior to the first lick. They should be using gloves the entire time they're serving food, especially with this being flu season, covid still on the loose, and the additional threats of RSV, and the dreaded norovirus. If they're handling anything someone will be putting into their mouth, they should 100% be using gloves the entire time. These kids are already germ factories. I don't want to have to worry about getting sick from a party host. After lunch, the kids were given game cards to use for 20 minutes of arcade play. Most of the games reward the kids tickets to redeem for prizes. We stayed even longer than the 20 minutes, and we're not rushed at all. Some of the arcade games are pretty old and beat up, as were the bumper cars. A lot of the items they have looked like they were purchased secondhand from closed down carnivals, and the like. Looking at their older pictures, it seems their former location was filled with carnival rides and games. They've definitely downsized, but it also looks very disjointed inside. They need to ditch the catering hall tables, chairs, high cocktail tables, and silver wedding-style decorations, and put in more kid-friendly furniture, that fits the vibe. It should be nice it they had more seating for parents in the soft playground area. As I said, the kids probably don't even notice how odd the layout and decor is. They'll have fun regardless. You can visit on your own if not attending a party. It's around 20 dollars just for the soft playground, rides and rock climbing range from 4-7 dollars, laser tag is 10 dollars, and you can also purchase arcade cards in several denominations. After the arcade, the kids were able to count their reward tickets and redeem them for prizes. They still have the archaic way of earning and counting tickets. The tickets are paper and you have to bring them to a machine that counts them, and provides a slip with the amount of tickets available for redemption. The prizes aren't that great, unless you get loads of tickets. Our kiddo still had a good day, and I told some other parent friends of mine about this place, so I may return. read more

What a weird spot for an amusement center. Located off the Saw Mill across from a mini mall area, Sportime USA looks like an abandoned warehouse behind some trees. Barely any signage, even in front of the parking lot and in the entry way. I've never seen less effort put in to highlight a business. Going inside, it's not the most organized in the world. Have to kind of figure out where the cashier and everything else is. Kids play tunnels are already if quite a bit dated. Nice bouncy house at least. Rides in the back looked cool even if nobody was there. Games were a disgrace, as multiple different machines didn't function correctly. That aside from the crane machines, which were unwinnable because of when the claw grips on (it doesn't). Ticket-to-prize ratio was pretty scary, even by today's standards. Know there is laser tag however my son is too old at this point. Place seems geared primarily to events, however even then, why would you pick here other than location? Light Eyes P's review was spot on: Chuck E Cheese or Billy Beez is a better bet for kids, and Dave & Buster's is a better bet for adults. Laser tag or a few carnival rides isn't enough of a draw; if you want the latter, Rye Playland is better. The New Sportstime USA located in Ardsley is definitely a mix bag. First, if your an adult this place will be underwhelming. This place is more suited for toddlers - pre teens. If your looking for the batting cages and air hockey tables they are gone along with pinball machines. First lets talk about the lay out which is odd. Sportstime is now housed in what appears to be a warehouse building. There is a small space of video/ticket games most which are old and dated. There is a space for smaller kids which features a bounce house and obstacle maze which both look very outdated and cost an additional $20. Then there are two event spaces which look to be the bread and butter here. Saw two maybe three parties going on and everyone looked to be happy. Next there is a space for the bumper cars and two other pay per rides and behind that is the Billiards room which has 4-6 pool tables. There is also a lazer tag room which I did not go into and an upstairs area which is used for parties. A lot of party space here. I have two children under the age of 6 and we spent about 90 mins here. We did not encounter any games out of order with the exception of one which the 2nd player did not work. My little ones seemed to enjoy themselves. I would suggest eating before and bring your own drinks. The concession stand looked sparse (pizza/pretzels/fountain drinks). There is a ample amount of easy to play ticket machines. My oldest came away with nearly 2k in tickets, we hit 500 on the first play! Unfortunately the prizes are lackluster like many places and have crazy ticket costs. They should probably lower some of the ticket amounts to entice play. Also the prize tickets are actual tickets which you have to place into a machine to count and obtain a receipt. Stay away from the crane machines, they are some of the worse I have ever seen and definitely not winnable. The staff here are ok very hit and miss but what do you want from teenagers/young adults. Some friendly some not so. Sportstime operates on a card system. I spent $50 for a card with 225 points and it lasted nearly 90 mins. Games vary from 2-10 points per play. My kids had fun however they never saw the old Sportstime in its heyday in Elmsford. Like I stated earlier a decent place for pre teens and under. Anyone older may not enjoy this place. Chuck E Cheese is a step or two better for toddlers - 8yr olds and Dave and Busters definitely better for teens/adults. read more

A sad and depressing replacement to such a nostalgic amusement center. What once offered so much is a shell of its former self. 99% of these reviews appear to be from their original decades old location in Elmsford. They've now moved to Ardsley. I'm not positive if Sportstime USA is now sharing space with a terrible events venue, but sure does it feel that way. The space is bland. Half finished walls, all white, the rest unfinished or exposed. No color. About 1/4 the arcade machines of the original location. No batting cages. The "soft play area" is pathetically small, next to a grave yard of dead arcade machines, and they charge $15 for it. A small rock wall, also next to the soft play area, with no one manning it. Three amusement rides, one technician managing them all. No billiards, air hockey, or foosball gaming tables. Not even sure if you can call the confection area a confection area. The ticket redeeming area offers a pathetic selection of toys. I saw 2 functioning claw machines, both impossible to win. The skeeball machines are in terrible shape. It's too bad Westchester lacks many arcade alternatives. Either way, don't bother wasting your money here. Stay home. read more

This place is still awesome! Yes some of the games are in the fritz but the staff are quick to fix it. The food here is good. It's a good place to get a burger and fries. I love that the number cars are still there. All in all it was a fun date and I recommend anyone to go on an arcade date. read more

My granddaughter and I went there today. We spent three hours between the arcade games, the rides and the climbing area. The staff was very helpful but Joshua , who ran the concession and the rides was incredible. He had the patience to show a 7 year old how to put the tickets in the machine and was patient as she decided which rides she wanted to go on. I used to take my kids when they were young but this is bigger and better than it was frfGGgg Must be GREAT for a birthday party! read more

This place needs a serious upgrade! I'm giving it 3 stars because the laser tag was super fun! There were 8 of us and we played several rounds. The games and rides are outdated and a lot of the equipment is run down and broken. Besides the laser tag, the batting cages were fun to play too. This place seems like it is good for younger kids and birthday parties. Most games give out tickets and what kid doesn't love getting a prize before going home? The cafeteria is decent, but a little over priced. If your an adult crowd laser tag and batting cages is they only things you will probably enjoy. If you have kids they can rock climb go on rides and pretty much run a muck. They even have a small area for toddlers. Staff is super nice and friendly too. read more

This facility is really dirty. The rug and overall decor were there for about 30 years or so. That place needs a deep cleaning ASAP.

The batting cage is good there and always available. That is about it over here. Place is run down and the food is so so. You do get free parking and it's near Sam's Club and Home Dept for shopping. A quick stop for their games, but rather spent more at a cleaner place. read more

Had my daughters bday party last weekend with about 13 of her friends and classmates. We had such a great time and wanted to mention that our host Jay was super enthusiastic, great with kids, professional and kept the flow going. Pizza was better than expected and rides were really fun for the kids. There is one main issue where many other reviews have addressed, too many games are in poor working condition , some wouldnt accept the card and others would only sort of work but not give out tickets even if you won. One other suggestion would be to fix the outside, it could use a freshening up. Otherwise we had a great time and will be sure to be back read more

Had Dante ever encountered Sportstime USA, he surely would have written it into the Inferno as one of the innermost levels of Hell. Needing to kill about an hour, we took a 10 year old boy and my 1 year old there yesterday (the website boasts activities for ages 1 to 99). It was horrible. 1. It is loud. Very loud. And flashy. All of this I expected, but I just need to reiterate up front how very loud and flashy it is. My 1 year old was so overstimulated she started biting herself and pulling on her hair. 2. It is crowded. We went on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in the middle of summer, and there were at least 6 different camp groups there with hordes of minimally supervised children running in different directions, screaming at the top of their lungs. Most of the camp counselors were about 17 years old and texting the entire time. I didn't see a maximum occupancy sign, and even if I had I wouldn't have been able to count how many kids there were, but I can't imagine it was legal. 3. The manager and the guy at the front desk said that kids with tickets (i.e. not there with a camp) were supposed to have "priority" and could move ahead of camp groups at the rides, climbing wall and bumper cars. The teenagers/young adults "supervising" the activities clearly did not know this and repeatedly turned us away or made my kid wait on a line of 45 campers for a turn. 4. The signs entering the building say "ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE FOOD" allowed in the building. The campers were running around with greasy fingers and brown bag lunches that were clearly outside food. We had planned on bringing sandwiches, but saw the warning about outside food on the website as well and decided to follow the rules. The food there was disgusting and, in the end, we ate some of our 1 year old's baby snacks (we figured that her outside food didn't apply) and left to get lunch in Tarrytown. 5. The machines no longer accept tokens; they have moved to a card system. You load money onto a card and then swipe it. The machines often take more than one swipe or, if your kid is impatient, impulsive and over stimulated, they keep swiping the card again and again, not understanding how the game works. Kids can go through $10 in 10 swipes on the same machine before the machine lights up and comes to life. Often there is a complex series of directions that kids have to follow to get the game started (swipe your card, tap the green button and then pull the red lever) and, if you miss one of the steps, the game doesn't start. Then they swipe the card again... etc. Honestly, I have to believe that this is strategic; I had difficulty helping my 10 year old get games going. An awesome money making scheme. Watch your kid's card closely. 6. A lot of the games are pretty incredibly violent-- these games are not separated out in any way. 7. The "Soft Play Area" for young kids is dirty, dark, unmonitored and seemed closed for the majority of our visit. Turns out it was open, but that's just the way it looks. Very uninviting. 8. The teens/young adults manning the climbing wall and bumper cars couldn't have been less interested in what they were doing. They would hook a kid up to climb and then literally turn their backs as the kid went up the wall and have a conversation with each other or flirt with the counselors. There were other small annoyances (gross bathrooms, dilapidated appearances, inaccurate sales) but I think those points cover most of it. I'll never be going back here; even on a rainy day, I'd take slippery outdoor play equipment and sopping wet clothes over this place. read more

Ok I see all the awful reviews for this place, but I remember coming here as a kid and loving it. And now 20 years later I'm bringing my nephew and nieces here. It still stands, some of the old video games are still up. It is dated but the batting cages are still cheaper than most places, the food court is still the same, still the same delicious fried chicken sandwich and fries that I remember eating as a kid! The only difference now is instead of using change you have those recharge play cards. And for all you parents: the massage chairs are $5 for 15 minutes...my mom sat there the whole time! After those years I loved and still enjoy bringing my younger brother and sister 11 and 9 yrs old. And they have such a blast! Sportime is exactly what it advertises itself as - an informal setting for kids to play arcade games, play lasertag, have fun on some small rides, and get a slice of pizza. It isn't an expensive, high-end arcade where parents can drink craft beer while their children are tended to by attentive staff members - all the negative reviews are by prissy people who want their every need catered to, and who's rubbish children can't entertain themselves with anything that isn't the latest and greatest technology. Seriously - Sportime is awesome. Yeah, it's a little bit dated. Spent $600 on a party and wasn't worth half the price. They didn't even have the decency of changing the plastic table covers from the party before. The happy birthday sign was used hundreds of times from the the looks of the rips, food, cake and soda splashes on it. I had to clean the space while I waited for my guests. I was happy to do something during the COVID with my son for his birthday. He enjoyed himself. They gave us free rides on the bumper carts and were very attentive. This is an amazing arcade with amazing management ( David , Al and jackie made sure all our needs were made and they we all just amazingly amazing to my family) I love the classic arcade games along with the variety. I enjoy bringing my family there for some great fun. They have an incredible selection of prizes and it's soooo hard to make decisions.....BUT, you can save unused tickets for your next visit and as a Mom, I really like that option! The arcade part of the place is alright, but beware of the batting cages. Absolute garbage; the machines don't throw strikes and the place charges 2 tokens (or $5) for every round. If you're going to have fun with your kids, great; if you're going to get some swings stay clear. You're better off using that money to rent a cage at either Hardball or Game on 13 - both of which are in spitting distance of Sportstime. read more

This place was probably once a great place to go on a date or for a kids birthday party, but now it's just run down and not cared for the games are classics but they don't always work so you can't play them and the colors are all messed up. The batting cage is the best the have to offer but the "very fast" cage does not throw consistent strikes. Probably won't return read more

Updating my review for my daughter's birthday party, hosted here at her request. They do a pretty decent job with everything, and the kids had a blast. Not cheap for what you get, but that's hardly unique for Westchester birthday services. Important tip -- do not book the small private room. It's not one of the rooms that you can see walking around the place, and is situated very unfortunately, and not disclosed as such when booking. The problem was ultimately resolved but only, in my view, because I was able to insist upon it from a posture and in a manner which tends to elicit obedience. I don't like having to do that, and it shouldn't have come to that. read more

My family has had three birthday parties there. We have been extremely pleased with the hosts. Each time they have gone above and beyond, super attentive to the children and very, very patient. The kids had an amazing time and I had no planning or clean up to do! Also- we ordered their platter of fries, wings, chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks and it was great! Definitely can use upgrading though- Alot of the games were not working and the bathroom was not the cleanest. read more

I absolutely love this place. Compared to any other arcade, the prices can't be beat! My friends and i can split a "100 point card" for $20. This lasts us usually a few hours. The games are old, but classic! Some of their 2 player shooting games have probably been there since the 90s. Yes, this place was, once upon a time very amazing. I couldn't believe they were still open! Granted it does have a slightly sktchy vibe these days. They upgraded to point cards and added small rides, but walking through the doors is like a time machine to the early 2000s. I give this place 4 stars because its a great, cheap, arcade place! Ok, I had to remove a star, almost took off 2. I have been going to ST USA once a week for the past couple of months and I'm starting to notice some issues. 1 - When getting the unlimited wristband it DOES NOT include the soft play area. I paid for their most expensive wristband and it DOES NOT include EVERYTHING????? ughh...Very disappointing. Its $5, why isn't this included?????? A worker actually told my daughter she had to get out. Then he said "tell mommy to buy you a wristband". SERIOUSLY!!!! We've been in the soft play area everytime we've gone and NO ONE has mentioned this before. 2 - MANY of the lazer tag packs DO NOT WORK. A couple of us had to try 3/4 different packs before we found one that kind of worked. We still enjoyed the rides. The bumper cars are GREAT and lots of fun. This is the ONLY reason I didn't take away 2 stars. We have stopped going once a week. Now we've been going to FunCIty in West Nyack where EVERYTHING is included.
