Holy wow this place is PACKED. My fiancé and I stopped in not too long ago and were completely unprepared for the sheer amount of cards and merch in store. Sports, Pokémon, One Piece, and more, it was overwhelming. The guys at the shop were stationed at convenient points through the store so you wouldn't have to look too far for assistance and were cool enough help my fiancé look through things to see if they could find cards of his pro-hockey player uncle. 10/10 recommend this card shop. I stumbled across this hidden gem in San Antonio. Thank goodness for their street sign. When I first walked in I was overwhelmed in a good way at the vast selection of sports memorabilia storage options. I managed to pick up several storage, cases , plastic holders for my collection. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about a variety of different sports and speciality cards - Pokémon, Marvel, etc. Be warned that card collecting can become a fun and expensive hobby because of the hunt, yet this crew a can help guide you in the direction you're wanting to head. The store is packed with packs of boxes, and if you look around long enough, you might find something that catches your interest. We were visiting from AZ. When we visit places we like to check out the local card shops we visited three shops on this trip to San Antonio and this shop was by far the friendliest and best priced. We actually enjoyed it so much that we went twice during this visit. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions or just talk with you. On our second visit my son was lucky and pulled a SHOHEI OHTANI BLACK ECLIPSE AUTOGRAPH card after buying only one pack of the Topps Cosmic Chrome cards. We didn't know it but the store was running a contest for anyone who pulled an Ohtani auto. They were honest and told us about it and gave my son the prize. When I travel, I try to stop at card shops to see what I can find. The trips have mostly been duds. Either pricing for the new stuff is way over what I would pay at my local card store or pricing for older stuff didn't match current comps (this happened at another San Antonio shop where a card comped at $12/13 but they wanted $45 for it). Walking in, this place looks like every other card shop I've been to. This is a large shop that had stuff EVERYWHERE. Walls of new boxes/packs, display cases filled with hits. Lots of signed memorabilia. Their pricing for unopened packs and boxes was fair market so that gave me hope. I asked the guy behind the register for help in locating Bo Jackson cards. He pointed me to another guy. I called my husband to see what cards he was missing. Dude was super patient as I was flipping through card by card. While the clerk was getting pricing together, my husband was worried they were going to tack on the pink tax. He shared what comps were so I had a figure in mind. NOT THE CASE HERE! The pricing was very fair and within range of what he wanted to spend. I left with my treasures and a very positive experience. read more

Charlie is the absolute best, as are all his staff. I went to this store for my first time with my husband about 3 months ago, and fell in love. Hands down best card store in San Antonio. They have the best hobby boxes and Charlie is so patient and knowledgeable, as we are so indecisive. Nasty, crooked staff. Won't honor prices they've given you over the phone less than 24 hours ago. Blames the "volatile market" but really, it's straight up lying. Rude old man acts like he's doing you a favor when he knocks off a couple bucks (when he told you over the phone the price was like $50 lower) Do not support this type of business, it has no place in the hobby. Owner says it was a five day gap between when he gave prices over the phone and when I came to the store. I called THE DAY BEFORE y'all had your "re-opening" for Covid. I came by THE VERY NEXT DAY and you wouldn't honor your prices from LESS THAN 24 HOUR BEFORE. Hope that clears it up for you. Just moved to the area and wanted to check out the store. Prices are at eBay prices or higher even though they save on fees selling in person, but still decided to shop. Found a card that was reasonably priced at $99. Associate gave me the line "this was priced awhile ago so I have to check updated value". Associat continued to search online for recent sell for more than 20 minutes. Found a sale a month ago for $140. But decided that was not good enough. Found a different version of the card that sold for $200. And used that as excuse to double the price. Complete rip off. What's the purpose of putting prices if you are going to jack up the price at the register. Loss my business for good. read more

Me and my dad love to go there and get baseball cards and Pokémon cards and it is a amazing place but there is one thing you could fix. The Pokémon booster boxes are too high priced. You have them at a $110. I've seen them priced at 80-90 dollars on Amazon and EBay. read more

Really great local card shop. I honestly don't know if there are any others in San Antonio as this is the one I have been going to since moving here 11 years ago. They have a great selection of supplies. For those who prefer the new stuff (I do not) they have PLENTY of that but they also have a very nice selection of older and even vintage stuff. In an era of lots of internet card buying where sometimes you get bad cards that can't be returned it is nice to be able to fully look over your cards before you buy. The prices are very reasonable and the owner very knowledgeable and willing to deal when appropriate. read more

Best card shop I've visited in 21 years of collecting. Charlie, the owner, is friendly, accommodating and very knowledgeable. He always has great promotions and awesome pricing on all the most desired sets in the hobby. They have an enormous selection of individual cards, single packs and hobby boxes. Both vintage and new sets/singles are available. It seems like basketball and football cards are the most popular and the selection for those is huge, but as a baseball collector, I am grateful by their equally massive collection of the less demanded MLB product. So regardless of your sports card collecting fix, they have what you are looking for. One thing I really like about S.C.P. is that they are willing to trade and/or buy cards from you. It's cool to know there are still places that will negotiate and make card for card trades. I've also heard that if you get a valuable pull and want to sell, they will help you move it online. I enjoy collecting so I typically try to hold on to my big hits, but it's another example of how helpful they are. It's exactly the kind of environment you look for in a hobby shop. People breaking boxes, showing off their hits and friendly hobby/ sports talk. Jeff, one of the employees, is especially amicable and easy to talk to. Several times, I've gone in just looking to get some top-loaders or a couple of packs and spent over an hour chatting with him. He has a good sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about the hobby and sports in general. If you are a collector or even just a fan of sports, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. I'd suggest Saturday afternoon. The last couple of times I've visited, there have been big spenders breaking box after box of the high end sets and it's fun seeing all the big hits they pull. And the prices are also among the best I've seen. Generally, when you go to a shop like this, you pay a bit more, and you know you're paying extra to break a box immediately. Not so much with Sports Card Plus. The pricing is very comparable to internet pricing, so you don't have shell out a boatload. The owner and staff are quite friendly as well. There is not a shop with a better selection that I've seen to date. Prices are kept as low as possible and are ofter times lower than internet prices. It's a shame that as big as San Antonio is we don't have a decent LCS. I've come here on many occassions but it's mainly to buy supplies, recently I have chose Amazon for my supplies. I am in need of some graded cards and memorabilia but it turns my stomach knowing I have to come to this store. The owner is pretty much in a bad mood 24/7, so spare me the excuses you've given all the other reviews. Any time I would ask him anything he always comes off as me wasting his time, answers my question as if it's the worst thing he has to do on Earth. Then comes the pricing, if you don't have time to change or as you call it "update" the marked prices then don't mark anything! You have given the excuse that prices fluctuate and in some cases you guys give the price lower than ebay etc, I have to call BS! In more times than not the price is always higher. As for the memorabilia, well let's just say it's priced so damn high that it seems as though you want to keep it all for yourself, take it with you in the afterlife; if that's the case call it a museum and not a store. The way I see it is you want to make that sale to the unsuspecting, unknowledgeable person that comes looking for a gift for someone and thinking their getting a great deal. Spare me the decades of experience, I've been doing this for longer than you guys have, and I know the true pricing on items. Just about all of your bad reviews get the same lame excuses and replies" " Well you must have come on a Saturday when we are busy (or holiday), or well then why did we win the Hobby Shop Makeover 6 YEARS AGO!!!"....totally irrelevent to the subject of the reviews. I had been coming to this store when the sports side was just an idea to add onto the trinkets and ornamental stuff you used to sell, then you got rid of all that and went straight sports card store, even back then you were in a bad mood, Charlie. I am in town visiting my family, and I finally decided to stop by the store while my wife and sister shopped at North Star. What a pleasant surprise. The selection is the best I have seen at any card store. I have wandered around the DFW Metroplex and this shop is by far the best. The employee and owner were friendly and helpful.
