I recently enjoyed a softball tournament here. It is a tightly packed complex of baseball/softball fields including a coffee shop and batting cages. There were tables overseeing the fields were out team could watch the other games while in break. The staff at the coffee shop was a bit overwhelmed with the demand at lunch so service was a bit slow, but understandable. (They do serve alcohol). Some one needs to take notice of how poor the food and drink stand is being ran. I have walked to the snack bar on multiple occasions, only to walk away empty handed. Every time I go, there are at least 10 people in line and one person working one register. My sons soccer game only last 60 minutes. I don't want to spend more than a third of my time waiting for something to drink. Service should be evaluated and based off of customer volume and peak hours of operation. The look of disparity on the face of customers standing in line tells all of the quality of service provided. read more

We played the US Police & Fire Games (Open Division) here over the weekend. The Sportsplex is similar to the one in Santee, CA with one huge difference in that the outfield in natural grass and the one in Santee is a artificial plastic outfield. The infields are similar in that they are both comprised of a light layer of dirt on what feels like concrete. The outfield fences are chain-link fence (300 ft from home plate). Electric scoreboards. Has a pub/restaurant which has AC, an absolute must out there in the heat. The beer and pizza are good. The admission is $2.50 and you get a token for food or soft drinks. No food or drinks other than water permitted in the complex. They have 3 fields, all corporate sponsored fields. The complex has a soccer field, batting cages and a kid's play area. Played here since 2001 and it is one of the best softball leagues in san diego.....good competition in the upper division but the lower division has a hard time keeping it fair ......too many upper division players sandbag and play down so they look like superstars. ....other than that it is a great place to play and they have beer and food so that's a plus.......batting cages and indoor soccer too if that's your thing......definitely worth checking out read more

Soccer: been playing soccer here for 7 years and have witness the decline of the facility. The fields are nice but there is an utter disregard for players safety. Over the last year, Ive been getting injured almost every week and have not been getting calls. Twice I was thrown against a wall and no calls were given. I don't mind getting hurt (its part of soccer) but when the refs are making any calls, then matters are taken into the players hands and the games escalate into violence. I speak up to the refs and it of course only makes it worse. Ive never been one to give up on anything but I'm done with the Sportsplex. Its sad to say that the place Ive been going to for years i will never go back to. Want to enjoy playing soccer rather than sitting on the sidelines hurt. read more

This is a well-maintained sports facility. The structure is really cool too. There's a bar in the middle where you can look out on all of the fields that surround it. They offer a number of sports but softball and indoor soccer are the focal points. The thing I don't like about Sportsplex is how they nickle and dime you for everything. For example, say you pay your $50 individual share of the team fee... seems pretty reasonable. But then you have to have a shirt with an individual number on the back. You can buy ones they provide for $10 (or you can make your own). Then you have to pay $2.50 every time you go to play a game. If you have a ten game season it ends up being $25. The one cool thing about this is that you get a coin that you can redeem for something at the bar. Then you also have to pay $10 for a players card. So, by the time you begin you end your first season you may have paid almost twice as much as you originally thought you would. A note on this players card: One time I forgot my players card at home. They will not let you play unless you buy another one at $10. It was my first offense so I didn't know what nazis they are about it. So I asked the guy nicely if I could please play today and bring it next time because I left it at home... as in- I still have one, I just need to bring it back. I told him that I have one from the YMCA and Let's Play Soccer that I can use as a replacement for the day. He said no, that I have to buy one if I want to play today. So, I said that the purpose of the card is for identification right? The refs all know me because I had been playing the whole season, I had a different card that they could use for the day and they have all my information on file. So the guy started being a dick about it, he's like "Did you remember your cleats?". I said yes. "Did you remember your shinguards?". I said yes. "Then remember to bring your card because you can't play without it". I ended up paying the $10 again because I wanted to play. The principle of it had me pissed. I understand it's the rules, but their competitors all require a card and are much better about this. At Let's Play Soccer they keep your cards for you at the complex so you can't forget it. If they lose it, they print another one for you. The replacement and the original are free. At the YMCA it costs a dollar. My experience with this card business was enough for me to not play at the Sportsplex again. I have been playing at Lets Play Soccer for the last 6 seasons or so instead. read more

This was my first time here. I had my first co-ed softball game here in the E1 division. Cool park, like the way it is configured, kind of a pain to get to but not too bad! The fields are in alright condition. The infield is extremely solid and the outfield is in somewhat good condition. The staff is very friendly and seem to be able to help with anything you have for them. read more

So I just played my first game here for soccer and was definitely cheated for my money. I at first thought maybe it was just how the referees were at this location but they definitely are in favor of the big men here. I never got the call even though I was I intentionally tripped multiple times. Even if I wasn't tripped intentionally you need to call a foul if I have possession of the ball and someone takes my legs out from underneath without even swinging anywhere near the ball. He also called a penalty kick cause my knee touched the ground. Nowhere in the rules does it say I can not block the ball with my knee touching the ground in a lunged position. (Btw this is the rule book I found on Poway USA Sportsplex website). I have played in many leagues growing up, including high school and college. This is by far one of the worst referees. read more

ZERO STARS!! My daughter or any other teenage softball player should not be subjected to drunk belligerent spectators! The bar doesn't care how much alcohol they serve to people. Alcohol should not be served at a children's sporting event! My daughter had to wait 15 minutes in line to order her lunch, then waited another 20 minutes for her order. Only had a few minutes to eat before her next game. Either hire enough people to work the snack bar or let us bring in our own food! Fields are too close together! Love this place and play here multiple times per week. Bo Ginsberg, the GM if you will, is the man. He's the guy to talk to if you want to set up a team or register as a free agent. There are plenty of familiar faces umpiring each week, all of them are good guys that call impressively fair games for the most part. I appreciate the grass and dirt softball fields, easier on my joints than the ones in Santee. The players you face in the upper leagues are sometimes intense, but rarely disrespectful. Once you get to be recognized, there is definitely a fraternal atmosphere amongst the regular players. The snack shack has a menu filled with mostly average food, but there are diamonds in the rough. Beer is, well, beer. Can't really mess that one up. Other than the food and fields, they also have batting cages which are good to get loose or stay warm between games. I've never played soccer here, but in my mind this is THE place to play softball in San Diego. read more

I play softball here just about every day on a number of different teams in different leagues, with the exception of some Friday's. The bad: Yes, the infield is like concrete and not fun to slide on, though I have noticed they've either added dirt, or made the "concrete" softer. It has also been getting more consistent in terms of ground balls. It still has some bad hops but not as much as before. The outfield has potholes and dead spots and some pretty rough terrain to where there is a chance of injury if you don't know how to run. Now, you may be saying "well that's pretty terrible. Why the 4-star review". Well, that's because of the good stuff The good: The food is pretty amazing. For a snack bar, heck, even for bar food, it's dang good. I haven't gotten around to trying sandwiches in a bar but I'm sure I will. The league manager is great and will work with anyone's schedule and really try to make sure that you can play as much as you want. The people are excellent. If you go as much as I do you start to see familiar faces and will probably eventually play with them if you're looking to get tons of games in. They are some of the most relaxed, fun people you'll meet and I have yet to run into someone that is blatantly disrespectful to people. They get shunned pretty quick. The atmosphere is great. People love hanging out after games and having a beer with their team and watching some games. read more

Fields are nice but the complex is cramped and there are no areas to warmup outside of the fields. Would be nice if they didn't charge you admission to get in when you've already paid to be in a league. Sure the admission goes toward a drink but what if you weren't planning on getting a drink? I've been playing here for over 15 years. The Poway sportsplex is a great place to play. The food is typical pub eats which I love! Yea I'm chubby... Some of my favs are the chicken strips, tater tots, mini corn dogs and parm/garlic fries. If you wanna kick it up a notch add nacho cheese to those parm fries. OMFG talk about heart attack food! Love it! The staff has always been good to me. Dave the softball director is always accommodating when he can be with schedules and times. Prices for league fees are good and fields are good. In field can be tuff at times but I feel they keep it up good knowing the SD drought situation. The bar staff are great bunch of people (kids) Matt runs a good team. Always smiles and great service. I maybe a bit bias as I've been playing here for so long, but like anywhere you tend to go back to the places you enjoy. A big plus for me is they have beer on tap and extra options like wine and hard selterz. The beer selection is good for a sport park pub. They always have a variety of choices. Entrance fee has gone up once since I've been playing here. $3 currently, good thing is they give you a token towards a large beverage or discount for a beer. If you save them up like I do, 4 tokens will get you a pitcher of CL smooth!! That's the Gatorade of Beers. read more

Never mind the $2.50 to get in every night, which feels like theft over the high league fees anyway, the fields there are horrible. Playing softball, be prepared for horrible bounces since the infield is horrible, and also if you slide you will tear yourself up since it's like playing on concrete with a little bit of dust over it. I am gladly moving away from the area and will be playing on real fields again with dirt and grass without potholes in the outfield. I will never play again and will ensure that my children never play in any tournaments here as well since I've personally seen and felt too many grounders bounce up into people's bodies and sometimes faces because of the horrible field conditions. read more

Never knew this place existed until some coworkers joined a softball league and I went to show some support. The layout of the place is simple but well done and for the most part the entire park is well kept. You have to pay a few bucks to get in but they give you a token to use for stuff at their food shack. I'd say it's a good place to get a beer or a snack and hang out to watch the games. read more

We recently came here for my nephews San Diego World Series Tournament. First off, facilities were a mess. Ladies room was out of toilet paper, I mentioned it to the snack bar, they said the shipment should be in any day. A team pays $1300 to enter the tournament, months in advance, how do they not know they need toilet paper on hand. Bathrooms were a mess. They did end up mopping one day, but instead of picking up the trash and paper on the floor, they mopped around it! Then I got a beer and asked for a styrofoam cup to keep it cold. They said those are for sodas and would not switch it from the flimsy plastic ones. They couldn't explain what the difference was, just they wouldn't do it. For the money they get for teams entering and the entrance fee to get in the gate, I would think they would have been a little more on top of things. On top of that, they don't run the scoreboards. They have them, but I guess it would dig into their pockets to push a few buttons. read more

There's a lot of people playing softball and soccer here. The staff was really helpful in setting us up in a soccer league. We enjoyed playing on these fields and everything was well organized. I like that the on-site pub encourages a social atmosphere, but I was not able to use all the entrance tokens. It would be nice to get rid of that entrance fee. I would give this place 4 stars except for the fact that they were not willing to accept any IDs other than players cards. We played for 8 weeks and 2 players on my team forgot their players card and were forced to purchase an additional $10 card in order to play. Obviously they had an ID card before or they wouldn't have been able to play in the games the previous 7 weeks. They were apathetic about the whole thing and that kinda bugged me. read more

Here for a softball playoff game - if you beat the bad attitute collection crew here you got in for free with your ice chest and chair. But if you were late you are not even allowed to go to your car 10 feet from the entrance without paying again or getting a terrible attitude thrown at you. Thanks CIF! Cause we needed to spend more money to watch out kids play. You can even bring in a water or fruit for you kid to eat while they are here for hours and your not allowed to leave between games or you have to repay the entrance fee. I don't know where to start but I sure know what to say I was there another day I had the worst experience ever I have been playing soccer for almost all my life I am now retired from competitive soccer therefore once or twice a week I get to play indoor soccer for funI have been playing for many years and and coaching also being a referee for indoor soccer last season we put a team together me being the oldest player on the Field we went on to score 112 goals in 10 games and win the league with most goals and no losses. Since it was our first season direct freeze didn't know us and they were okay with us comes the season we experienced a harsh treatment from the referees toward our players as far as file calling goes these guys are not referees by any meansI hate to say this but the staff at Sportsplex USA poway are very unprofessional I will never go to any indoor soccer in this location nor do Irecommend anybody going here to play any type of sports they treat you like you're a kid they treat you as if this is a babysitting facility they must realize that you're an adult you pay your fees and you play here for fun I mean literally direct free calls for a Blue card and a penalty claiming that one off our defender yelled at the other player while everybody heard it was not our player it was that goalie calling for a clear there is nothing wrong with the goalie calling for clear ballto avoid any type of collision with other players I asked the ref why was there a card and a penalty and the ref knew that he was wrong and he injected me from the game with the blue car and then later a yellow car which an indoor means a red card these guys arenot a referees they are bunch of lunatic I have nothing much to say I hope you get my point and never attend this facility again thank you read more

I have been playing here for years and I couldn't disagree more about most of the negative reviews. This is the best facility in San Diego county to play soccer. Yes, they are a little expensive, but you pay for you get. The park is in great shape, along with both soccer arenas. I would give the ref's 4 stars. No ref is perfect, even in pro sports. The guy running it (I think his name is Scott) has always been super cool. After the game, we kick back and have a couple of beers. Way better than any other place I've played. read more

Not only do I play softball here but I also play soccer! The indoor soccer facility is exceptional and the softball fields are pretty decent. The staff is well organized which makes for enjoyable night out playing my favorite sports. Competition levels vary from beginners to moderate to fairly high levels in both arena's, which is why I enjoy playing here and will continue to do so! read more
