Our first time in and these folks knocked it outa the park!!! We had a grand time watching the pool games as we waited for our food. While we greeted by the owner, very nice gentleman!!!!!! The Spot is a true Vancouver neighborhood bar, and people have been coming here for decades. Owner Alan works incredibly hard for this place. He shows up, he cares, and he has made real efforts to improve the atmosphere. The recent remodel has made the bar lighter, brighter and more welcoming. There are also some genuinely excellent bartenders who represent what The Spot should be. Cindy is phenomenal: professional, attentive and accommodating. Dylan will always hold a special place in my heart because she was the first bartender who took care of Jordan and me after we moved to Vancouver. She immediately made us feel welcome. I have never forgotten that, and that first experience is one of the reasons The Spot became special to me. Unfortunately, my experiences with Ashley have been the complete opposite. Ashley has only been working there for roughly a month, yet in that short time she is already alienating regular customers and damaging the environment Alan is working so hard to build. I have dealt with her more than once, and the service has been consistently rude, dismissive and unprofessional. A couple of Thursdays ago, Ashley was covering for Cindy while Cindy was on vacation. I came in to meet our normal Thursday lunch group, and the difference in atmosphere was unbelievable. Ashley was inattentive and rude to multiple guests. This was not simply one bad interaction between her and me. Other people were having problems with her service and attitude as well. The experience became uncomfortable enough that I eventually left. Today sealed it for me. I had some time before getting tires put on my truck, so I stopped by The Spot for breakfast and a drink. When I walked in and saw her behind the bar, I genuinely considered turning around and leaving, but I decided to give it another chance. That was a mistake. I sat down at the bar. Ashley looked directly at me and continued talking with another guest while she ate her food and got herself something to drink. She made no effort to greet me, take my order or even acknowledge that I was waiting to be served. Then, while I was still sitting there, I watched her smirk with another guest and make comments about me. Eventually, I got up and walked out. I walked into a neighborhood bar ready to spend money, yet the bartender made the experience so uncomfortable that I left without ordering anything. That is not being busy. That is not having an off morning. That is not a personality difference. That is a failure of basic hospitality and professionalism. Bartending is a service profession. Customers do not have to be treated like friends, but they should be acknowledged, treated respectfully and given basic service. You do not have to like every person who walks through the door, but you do have to act professionally. Making a paying customer feel as though being served is some privilege you are granting them is completely backwards. What makes this so concerning is how quickly this has happened. Ashley has been there approximately ONE MONTH, and she is already making longtime customers uncomfortable enough that they are leaving, avoiding her shifts and talking about how unpleasant the atmosphere becomes when she is behind the bar. That should concern anyone who cares about this business. Alan is trying to move The Spot forward. He remodeled it, made it brighter and more welcoming, and continues to show up for his business. Cindy, Dylan and the other professional bartenders have spent years building relationships with customers and creating the neighborhood atmosphere that keeps people coming back. It should not take one new bartender a matter of weeks to start undoing that work. This is bigger than whether Ashley likes me personally. I do not expect my bartender to be my friend. I expect professionalism, respect and service when I walk into an establishment as a paying customer. I will not spend my money somewhere while being deliberately ignored, mocked or made to feel unwelcome by the person whose job is to provide hospitality. At this point, if Ashley is working, I will go somewhere else. Based on what I have personally witnessed, I would highly recommend that anyone planning to visit during the morning shifts check who is behind the bar first. When Cindy is there, when Dylan is there, or when one of the other professional bartenders is working, The Spot can be exactly what a great neighborhood bar should be. That is the bar I know and the reason I keep coming back. But what I have experienced with Ashley is unacceptable. The most frustrating part is that I know The Spot is better than this. Alan deserves better representation behind his bar. The regulars who have supported this place for years deserve better. The Spot should be building loyalty, not allowing a bartender who has barely been there a month to drive loyal customers out the door. read more

I have been coming here for almost 10 years. Both regularly, and ill-regularly. This place is the complete package. Whether you want to come in for a drink after work, or to drink away your demons on a Saturday night. This is the place. Staff will always take care of you, and are very very fair and lenient. They are also just as quick to reestablish a safe bar environment, if someone or something gets out of hand. On November 23,2025, I met a friend at the spot who was having trouble in a living situation and needed someone to talk to. We sat at the short end of the bar by the door. The bartender was great. We had some beers and talked about his problem and solutions. We then left. About 30 minutes later the friend he was having problems with sent him pictures him and I at the bar and mentioned things we had talked about. This person is 86'd and cannot come into the bar so it wasn't her. Then we looked at the angle of the shot and realized it was the cook on duty. She knows the lady was is 86'd and took our pictures and reported to her a private conversation while on duty. It ended up making a bad situation between my friend and her far worse than it would have been. It's just shocking to me that someone working would think it's okay to take pictures of customers and cause problems. Needless to say I won't be back. We love stopping in during the summer time to grab a nice, refreshing drink. We stopped in last night for steak bites and some mixed drinks and the service was horrible. The older lady serving us was someone I'd never seen there before. She the short older lady with glasses, and was rude and very snappy. Never once came by to check on us the whole time and we had to go up to her when we needed something. It wasn't even busy when we were so I'm not sure why she didn't bother to come check on us and see if we needed anything else after we ordered food and drinks the first time. Got invited here with friends for pool tables. Bouncer nice! Crowd little younger and some middle aged. Bartenders Super Rude! Two girls with long black hair. I get it that COVID-19 aka my opinion (just another flu) Has made people lazy! Due to places not being open but Supposedly we are going back to kind of normal. The fact one of the girls tried to argue she's had a long day and that's why she's being so rude. I'm sorry not sorry that is not an excuse for me to be treated with such disrespect. I have been coming here for years. I decided out their food.. I got the Philadelphia steak cheese sandwich and I swear it was better than a lot of the Philly steak cheese sandwiches you'll find out there. Tons of meat and cheese just dripping off of your sandwich with every bite. I had to use my fork to keep putting the meat back in between my bogie roll. So good. Came in for taco Tuesday, we expected the tacos to be $1 each, as per a previous review. Bartender was not interested in us. We asked about the tacos available and were told only the ground beef were the taco Tuesday special, so we ordered several. (Gals next to us we're having the chicken). Cook brought the tacos and was very attentive, got hot sauce for us etc. tacos were fine for a taco Tuesday deal, nothing special. When we cashed out the bartender brought us a bill without any prices at all on it and no total, seemed to expect us to just hand over a card. We asked for a bill with the prices and total listed, bartender told us "sometimes it doesn't print out right". Turns out the tacos were $2.25 each. Wish we had known, we would have ordered something else. There is a $.50 surcharge for using a debit card. Will not return. read more

Love this place. Upon arrival the security guy is always so welcoming and polite - a true professional. From there the bartenders do a great job; Rainer beer is around $2.50(?) - had a bacon cheeseburger and it was much better than expected. I am OLD for this place, a younger crowd, everyone is still friendly and got invited to play some pool. The Karaoke nights are actually really fun, never thought I could enjoy that, but I did. Been back there 5-6 times already and the door guy knows me and servers already remember me and what I order. This is not upscale. If you want that in Vancouver go to the Waterfront. The best dive bar in Vancouver. It's my go to bar when I want a cold drink or great bar food. If you're a Steelers fan, this is you're place as the owner is a huge Steelers fan. Pool tables are new and they have leagues. And of course they have karaoke a few days a week as well. And there is a small outdoor area to smoke and drink. I thought. Reviews this place wow!! So my group of friends, pre-COVID back in December got kicked off the train for day drinking with out bottles of vodka sticking out our backpacks on the train. What a shit-show. Next train was 6 hours away. We decided walk from the Amtrak station to the Spot (found via Yelp) and wait it out. 6 jack n cokes, 1 12 ounce prime rib and $200 in pull tabs later we left. When the train pulled up, we put on our best sober face and tried to bored. Immediately the train guys recognized used us from a "be on the lookout message" for these guys. They didn't let us board. So we're 10 hours deep at this point and needing to get back to Portland. We ended up taking a bolt bus and feeling like hell. Anyways, I didn't mean to deviate. The Spot treated us great and had everything we could've asked for. Time flew bye way too quick here. It was a prime place to be and awesome it was so close to the Amtrak station. read more

From the outside you would assume it's a dive bar, so the standards are already low. However, the bartender was a blonde old woman who didn't smile once, and we just ordered two drinks and a water. We got the drinks, no water. We closed out our tab and left because we did not feel like the server wanted us to be at the bar top. We will not be back. Just moved back to Vancouver last week and I've already been here twice. The quality of food here for the price is absolutely fantastic. This place has stepped up there game and the cooks have been killing it. Great beer and drink selection. I like all of the staff there except one bouncer. I was playing chess with someone and this dude would NOT leave us alone and when we told him to stop he got very violent and threatening. I told the bouncer and he confirmed the guy was threatening people but then let the guy stay. I said I didn't feel safe and I cashed out to leave. I had my phone, keys and wallet in one hand and my chessboard in the other. I used the SIDE of my foot to gently open the door to leave and the bouncer told me I was banned for 30 days for kicking the door. He's either friends with violent dude or he didn't like that I asked him to do his job. I have been going here for almost a year without any issues. Spending way more money than I honestly should. I won't be back after that unless that bouncer is dealt with. They have shootings and fights in the parking lot. Cops are called all the time. The Spot has a SERIOUS security issue. Five pool tables squeeze in the upper area that makes it hard to navigate past when the drink line is long, as is the case on the Saturday night I visited. Boyfriend got physically assaulted by a regular after he came over to our table belligerently drunk and started spouting off sexist jokes then continuing to argue with us when we told him to leave our table. The loser straight up threatened to beat us to DEATH (my whole group witnessed it) and bouncer Chaz did absolutely nothing because they value that jackass buying more drinks there than the safety of their patrons. Bartenders were kind-of standoffish as well and the whole atmosphere was unwelcoming at best and extremely dangerous at worst. This wasn't a "choice" to stop, but since so many places were closed on the 4th we hadn't many options. So, first visit and it will be my last. The service was ok, but the atmosphere wasn't. This bar has too many pool tables that take up most of the space. If you can't find a seat up at the bar, you'll be limited to seating down in an area with a small stage... Hi I'm shawn the cook. I worked as a cook here for 9 days. During that time my life was in danger 3 times. There are pimps, hooked, drug dealers and violent offenders that go there. The food I cooked was good, there are great staff there. Flex is the good night cook. They fired me because I did not get along with Cindy lu the bar tender that shows up to work drunk and serves raw chicken. I would avoid mornings that's when she works mid shift to night shift are great. The owner Allen just shows up with food in the morning but he won't eat the food there, but he almost spelt my name right in my first check. He tried to pay John schmaltz. Day 10 I show up to work to get my tips and was imidiatly fired because apparently I am a guy black cook, and that is not aloud here. That was Stright from the owner Allen's mouth, I have witnesses. After being fired I was told to pick up my last check Thursday. I came in later that night to get a drink with my friends, to find out I have been 86'd from the bar. This means I can't spend my day off in the bar I busted my ass in for 9 days cleaning from top to bottom. Which don't get me started on the kitchen. A man approached me he had a weapon if I didn't leave. So I called 911 told the police a man is threatening my life, and he was intoxicated. The officer said he would not send anyone, but he could file a report. The intoxicated individual who told me his name was deez nuts jump into his car clipped a car out on the way out. At this point I told the officer a drunk driver just hit and run and alas the officer said he couldn't do anything about it. So if this sounds like your bar come on down. If not just go to hooligans or main event this place will be out of business soon. read more
