It was around 1230 on a Wednesday, only two other tables with customers. I sit, wait 4-5 minutes and a waitress comes over and gets my order. Rueben and fries, Food shows up quick and I ask for ketchup. I'm almost done with meal before she comes back and I ask again for ketchup, it shows up. The Rueben had little meat and almost zero Russian dressing...dry. Not impressed. I'll still try again, must give places a second try. read more

I'd say this is our go to restaurant in the couve. We celebrated St. Patrick's day here and it was packed! Spotted 2 seats at the bar and got the okay to grab them. The menu for today was bomb! They didn't offer their beer battered onion rings (if you haven't tried you must!), but that gave us the opportunity to try the amazing special menu. I had the Reuben fritters which OMG every bite of it was drool worthy, and hubby had the fish n chips. Everyone was in such a good mood whether from the food, drinks or watching the baseball world classic! I find it cozy and always clean. Service was good even with how hectic it was. read more

We had a late lunch here today, passing through town. We were hungry, so everything on the menu sounded good. We settled on an appetizer of the beer cheese fondue, which was delicious. It came with two breads and sliced sausage. I did everything but lick the bowl. I had fish and chips, advertised as the best in Vancouver, I had to agree. The fish had light crispy batter, plenty of tartar and fries, and was a nice portion. My friend had Bangers and Mash. They were reported as delicious, and they certainly looked it. We had plenty of leftovers, as our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. I still wanted to try the double layer homemade Ding Dong, but passed, darn it. Just no room. Service was friendly and attentive. I'll keep it mind the next time I make it back to the area. read more

This is a neighborhood place reminiscent of "cheers". It's tucked in a corner and is warm and inviting when you walk in. It has trivia night on Thursday's and music bingo on Tuesday! I won at music bingo so of course I'm going back! Actually I'll go back several times as it's a comfortable place to grab a bite, have a beer and feel at home. Came here once for lunch and then again during their brunch. During their lunch time it was a little slower and got a tri tip dip which was good and got Cajun fries with it which were delicious. During their brunch we decided to get the traditional and corned beef eggs Benedict which were very delicious. It was a little busier but the owner was helping out the server so we were able to get everything we needed. I had to ask for a little extra hollandaise and they were super nice about it. I really enjoyed their breakfast potatoes. The place is clean and lively. read more

Finally decided to give this place another shot this morning. Saw an ad about their weekend brunch and wanted to come check it out. We were greeted right away and our waitress was so nice! Her name is Jenn and she was so friendly and welcoming. So much friendlier than the bartender we had when we first came in earlier this year. So glad we chose to sit in the restaurant this time for that reason. We ordered chicken fried steak, French roast and biscuits and gravy. Everything was decently priced and big portions. Ok! Everyone should go here if you haven't already. We recently moved our daughter to this area and went here for lunch after a day of moving stuff. Outdoor patio area was great so we could have our 4 legged son with us. Our server Linda was attentive and great. The drinks and beer selection were great. The food all sounded amazing and what we got reflected that. I had the BEST PATTY MELT I've ever had in my life! And that started with the question from Linda "how do you want your patty cooked?" That is a definite indication that it's going to be good. AND IT WAS COOKED PERFECTLY RARE, like I ordered. My daughter got the grilled cheese with bacon and it was fantastic as well. I arrived for lunch at 11:45 and to my surprise the restaurants opening time is at 12:00 noon which was surprisingly later than I would expect for those expecting a normal 11:00am opening time for a lunch establishment. There were others that arrived before noon that were also caught off guard. Once they opened the doors there is signage that directs you to the bar to get seated in the dining room. This was also odd since the bar is located at the very back of the restaurant and the 1 bartender was the only employee that I saw the entire time that I was there. I ordered the cheeseburger, Cajun fries and a Coors Light. My order arrived within 10 minutes. The burger was just OK. Nothing memorable about it. The Cajun fries were great. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The beer was cold. The bartender was attentive even though she was the only one serving all of the tables. read more

The Brussel sprouts are a great way to start. The chili dog is loaded. The tritip cheesesteak is very tasty. The pear salad is a nice size and the vinaigrette is a perfect accompaniment. Love the olde English/Irish pub feel. The bar service is friendly, and I really enjoyed the velvet-lined booths for table service. The draft beer options are limited, but good. This is one of the best sports bars/restaurants in Vancouver that nobody knows about. I've been here six or eight times and it's never really busy. Nice portions of really delicious food, delivered with a smile. Tonight I had Grady's salad which was fabulous along with some barbecue wings, which were meaty and flavorful. It's so hit or miss here... food can be good but I emphasize the service is very subpar and the owners seem to only support this behavior. (They are always talking to staff and ignoring guests!) They do trivia on Thursdays but almost every night and absolutely every Thursday they block off all the main booths in the bar for "their regulars" and very rudely guard them like everyone should know you can't get a spot no matter how early you get there and spend money for hours in advance... I guess no booths here until you've given them 20years of patronage or know the rather seasoned ladies behind the bar haha. I stop here cause of the convenience of location to a friend's house but would likely never go out of my way which stinks cause I love trivia but not rude service. read more

Pretty cool place. I have been coming here since it was Firken Frog. I just came in for a cold coors light and she got a boneyard. Service was good and the beers were cold. The place is pretty clean too. I like how they made it into kind of a sports bar. I think I paid 12.50 for the two beers. Not too bad considering every where else would have probably costs more. I got the right beer I ordered and so did she ;-) read more

The service here is terrible. We came here for Monday night football and had to wave down the waitress to get service. We had to get up and beg for them to let us pay so we could leave. Went on Trivia night, that was fun! The water they serve is awful.. tasted like chemicals and dirty. Please get a filter or change whatever you're using, everyone should be able to have fresh and clean water when dining out. The margarita was way too sour. Frys were good (ask for crispy), house made potato chips are amazing! Great ranch, too. Pretzel rods were warm, but the cheese dip had no flavor. Very pricey for the quality. Black and blue burger was cooked perfectly, but served cold. The pasta bowl is not worth $18. The pasta needed to be cooked a little more and the sauce needs some flavor. It was salty and had an extreme blue cheese taste, in an off putting way. The chicken in the pasta was well cooked. Staff were very helpful and nice. Noticed the pasta wasn't enjoyed and offered a discount. Overall, fun bar for snacks to watch a game, but grab dinner else where. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood pub. Walking in, it felt more like a restaurant than a pub, but if you walk to the back, there is a proper bar area too. Lighting is excellent, friendly atmosphere and staff. Tried The Bentley burger which was amazing. Now that a friend lives nearby, I look forward to returning. read more

Got there at noon on Sunday to meet up with friends. Found they only serve Brunch which was basically breakfast. The steak and eggs I had was good, nicely seasoned and prepared as asked, eggs were spot on over easy, Service was good and the one bartender/server was busy and took care of everything we expected. All said, I'd had breakfast earlier in the day and was looking forward to one of the lunch options on the menu. Football on the big screen tv''s, a few regular folks coming and going and we enjoyed having time to catch up without feeling like we were taking too much time. So tried this place again as they said they had new ownership. Unfortunately left very disappointed. We came in because they posted a Friday fish fry special. Not so much the case. However we did order 3 fish and chip dinners and a child hotdog meal for my grandson. The fish pieces were surprisingly big, but we couldn't pick it up to eat it as it was so soggy and greasy! My grandsons bun was toasted to the point of being hard as a rock and couldn't eat it. Finally when our server came, we told him about our experience and his words were, "thanks for reporting this." ?? Never filled our waters either. Would have thought management would have come over to check on us. Nope! As per the Facebook post on them asking for us to come try them again, sadly it was very disappointing. We visited this place based on a great recommendation from someone. Here's mine... From the outside it's hard to tell, but this is a pretty spacious little place. Nicely decorated, good ambiance. The benches are velvet, however, which makes it hard to scoot across them. Service was okay-- not overwhelmingly friendly, but not unfriendly either. Sure we're surprised when our drinks were served in plastic cups, though. Food was okay as well. One friend had the Reuben which he said was good. Another had just a cheeseburger and was not impressed with the lack of dressing (finally found a line of Mayo on it...). We shared a patty melt-- came with American cheese which was odd. I'm not a fan of American cheese, so maybe I'm an odd one, but I really did not like the overall flavor. Next time I will sub that with a different cheese-- or just try something altogether different. read more
