Fish and chips were tasty. I like the coleslaw a lot. I miss the homemade french fries but these are OK. Fish tacos were pretty tasty The salad was very fresh and my friend. Enjoyed the blue cheese crumbles and nuts. Service was excellent and a Ruby is always cold and delicious.

Came in to have dinner with my family and I got the Omnivore pizza. It was so good. Great location and vibe here. Staff were friendly and service was great.

It'd been about a year since eating here due to poor service in the past but decided to give them a chance for redemption. They have improved! I'd be closer to a 3.85 star but since I can't give that I rounded it to a 4. We were seated almost immediately upon entering and the waitress was friendly. Nice change from past experiences. Ordered a burger with canjun tots as well as a cup of clam chowder. The food was decent. The tots were probably the best part. Crispy and perfectly seasoned. I didn't try the burger as I didn't order it but we weren't asked how we wanted it cooked and it was a little more pink than preferred. The clam chowder could have been a bit more hearty but had good flavor. I'm pleased to see an overall improvement and won't avoid this place like the plague like I was previously. I love other McMenamins locations so im glad to see an improvement with this one! Good on you McMenamins-keep it up.

Our leftovers. Obviously previously employed at BEACHES RESTAURANT. Top notch owner who trains their employees.

We went for Happy Hour which is good and a limited menu but what was outstanding was our waitress. She went beyond the norn and we will return may times and always ask for her. Her name is Maliyah. She is one of the best in the business. Ask for her. She has a happy soul, kind hearted and very friendly. We need more people like her in our world. We loved her and so will you. Good food, good burgers, drinks and wonderful vibe. Thank you Maliyah you made our week.

Checked out The Lost Tiki lounge at this restaurant. Very cool tiki bar small but nice! Drinks and sliders were delicious! You have to reserve a spot and it's for 90 minutes

I really want to give this one 5 stars, but we always seem to have the same issue. 8pm, maybe 1/5 of the tables in use, and we stand after entering. And we stand. And we stand. We may get acknowledged and told they'll be right with us. By more than one person! Yet we still stand there. In a restaurant that is not busy. At today's visit, after standing for over 5 minutes, we were then asked by the bartender if we are dining in. When we said yes, she told us to seat ourselves. Then it's fun trying to find a clean table. Last time we never found one and headed back to the door to wait until they cleaned one off. We come here for the awesome grateful veg mezza (hummus, pita, and veggies) and 19th hole (turkey, bacon, and cheese sandwich). Just wish we could get seated easily.

Stopped in for a quick bite because I wanted a burger. I live less than 10 mins away but have never been to this location before so I thought I would just stop in. The service was okay... a little slow. The food was also just okay. Usually we get asked how we want the burger cooked, but the waitress didn't ask us this time. When we received our food, the order of tots came out fresh and hot but my truffle fries came out barely warm. We always get cajun tots so I wanted to try their truffle fries this time. I was not impressed. The truffle fries were just regular fries and it came with a garlic aioli sauce? Had I know that, I would have just gotten the Cajun tots. I don't plan on stopping back in any time soon, but if I do, I most likely won't be getting the burger or "truffle" fries again.

It's been years since I've been to a McMenamin's and the East Vancouver location was the perfect reintroduction. Their seasonal cocktails were our favorites! They were delicious. The pricing is questionable. This is pub food. It really shouldn't cost as much as it does. The food is pretty good, but it's not $20/plate good. You don't go to McMenamin's for a good deal, you go for an experience. And that's exactly what we had!

Notice all the grease. Now look at the tortilla that is saturated with it too.

I have always enjoyed going to a McMenamins. I love the location of this particular one. However, the food is awful. A year ago I had a friend in town and we decided to go here and we both had cheese burgers. The patty was like a hockey puck, it was so over cooked. Today, I met a couple friends for happy hour. I had ordered their steak tacos to go. Per their menu, they use ribeye steak for these. When I finally got the chance to start eating, the meat was not steak, rather a ground beef of sorts. Maybe they ground the steak? Seems odd to me that they would. I don't know. But the amount of grease that came out of these bad boys was unbelievable. There other locations I've always had great meals. It's sad they can't be consistent with things. I will only go back for the Ruby beer. No food for me.

Way too family oriented to be a decent brewery. The beer was good though. Not a big food selection and the food was just ok.

Lovely. We could see a fountain. There was also a fireplace near us, which was a nice touch. Service was OK. A little bit slow, and in my opinion, the server was not well trained in basic table service. I would expect a bit better in such a nice location with a lovely restaurant. We both had coffee with plenty of cream. We asked what the soup was, the server didn't know if they had soup. A few minutes later, she returned to say they only had clam chowder. Which is exactly what my friend had had there before and wanted. After a long wait, a very nice bowl of clam chowder was served. It was a healthy portion and came with some oyster crackers. Very tasty. I ordered the roasted beef salad. The beats were on top of a bed of totally overdressed spinach for my taste. The beats were nicely roasted, and there were plenty of them. Candied pecans as well. Not a lot of feta. Pickled onions on top. It was OK only I would not order that again. My friend got the Caesar salad, which was very nice. The croutons were light and crunchy. We also had some bread that came with olive oil and vinegar. This item was fine, not great. The clam chowder was $10 for a bowl and it was the best thing that I had. We had to ask for a refill on our coffee, and also to clear some plates away that were finished. We did stay for a very long time. My friend felt relaxed there and was talking to me quite a bit. I do appreciate that we were not rushed out, however, it was not busy. We were never offered dessert. Perhaps we would've enjoyed that. I see myself returning, if my friend would like to.

My parents had been here before for happy hour and really enjoyed sitting out on the deck, overlooking the beautiful golf course. So of course, we had a perfect table with a lovely view on a relaxing Saturday afternoon. We got there at 1:30 PM and lunch service starts at 2:00 PM. Our server Rory, was very professional and attentive. He seemed to sense whenever we needed anything. I had a particular request, I ordered the prawn shrimp Louie salad, and my request was that the kitchen take the tails off of the prawns for me. I just really hate having to do that myself at a restaurant and getting my fingers all messy. Plus I was wearing white. So you see, diva treatment was necessary. Everyone at the table except my mom ordered salads and got their food first. Ta da! Rory and the kitchen totally came through for me. No tails on my prawns. The salad was beautifully presented. I don't know why my dumb Yelp brain didn't take a picture of it but at least I got a picture of it before I gobbled it down. I will say this, the service at the Hickory, the ambience overlooking the beautiful golf course and I confided in Rory that the prawn shrimp Louie was the best salad I've ever had. Seriously, the best. I hope the weather is nice towards the end of September so we can take my dad there for his birthday. Fore! now I'll just daydream about that awesome salad. Thank you Rory and staff! 2024 - Review #13

Firstly, I want to preface this by saying the one waitress they have tending the bar, tables, and everything else is amazing. She should not be doing all that on her own, and that's a lack of planning allowing that. She's friendly, helpful, and does what she can, but she's only one person. Secondly, the food is often way too oily. This can range from the appetizers, to some of the sandwiches/burgers, and even veggies. Lastly, I used to love coming here for the salads. They were fresh, large/filling, and full of toppings. Now? A $25+ salad with some added protein comes in a regular sized salad bowl you'd have in your home which is seemingly new with the recent change in management. Definitely not worth the price. I don't say all this to disparage the restaurant or employees. I want this place to succeed because I like the location, and think it's a fun spot to frequent. Changes are needed though if they're going to continue to charge the amount of money for the lengthy waits, and quality/quantity of the food being served.

They did replace it with a fresh one which was good. Recently though, I ordered some Halibut Fish & Chips. Again, they were overcooked, burnt, and barely edible. Service wise, I counted 9 staff memembers congregated around the cash register just joking around and not paying attention to customers. On some nights, they start stacking the chairs on the stand alone tables, way before closing time. Nothing is more unwelcoming than that. What has happened to the diner?
