I didn't buy anything so this is "not an actual user experience". But the ambiance was lovely and lively. The service was absolutely incredible with a woman working the bar that could manage to feed a small army and answer questions simultaneously. And the food looked absolutely amazing. I have been told by everyone that the food is absolutely incredible. I only wish they had a back patio with seating so you don't have to walk through "a wall of smoke" that emanates from people standing directly outside the entrance. Smoking outdoors within 25ft. of an entrance is a rule that was established for a reason. Drinking, smoking, and food. You can pick 2 of the 3. When you smell like smoke just by using the entrance install an outdoor fan. Smokers don't like secondhand smoke either. I'm sure if I go there and light up a Cohiba cigar the smokers guarding the entranceway would suddenly be upset. Ok. Earl, I'm sure your nephew is a great guy, but my wife isn't going near a BBQ pjt for fear of smelling like smoke, much less a dozen people next to the entrance. I give 5 stars in these trying times. I walked in not expecting much at all but I have to say ... kudos to these guys n gals!! Don't go there with the "Bar Food" mentality because you'll be as surprised as I am. My steak was cooked to perfection with an awesome flavor, not to mention all the beautiful sides that came with it. The Spotlight was spot on! Had the Filet last night and it was seasoned perfectly and cut like butter. But the salad almost stole the show, with a mix of greens, a scattering of nuts and raisins and pungent cheese, with a light dressing of vinaigrette. And did I mention the beer was frozen cold and Jim Lockwood on the piano was playing hot. Great night. Yet another bar that is being held back by trying to make up for its lagging business by sticking it to those who do try to patronize their establishment. Drinks are reasonable, but do not be a teetotaler there. Us for a glass of water I've actually seen them open a bottle of water and pour it in the glass so they can charge you a couple of bucks. The food is fair yet overpriced. The hamburger that they're famous for is a good size portion, but has the taste of lighter fluid, but some people actually like. Everything is ala carte so don't expect fries to be thrown in with that. Ask for an extra pickle comma you might get charged. I can't fault them for this since Jimmy John's does the same thing. The bartender and the waitress staff are very charming, the male management not so much. This is kind of an old boys club, so ladies , know what you're getting into. read more

Spotlight is a hidden gem. A few weeks ago, I went here for the first time on Bike Night (Wednesday). I ordered from the menu (Smurf burgers and boudin bites) and had few drinks. I enjoyed the food and the band. Last night I returned for steak night. I will be back. For $20, you get salad, bread, steak, potato, veggie, and au jus. Was it Ruth's Chris....no. The same set up there would be $80. Was it a tasty dinner and well worth the value? Hell yeah! I will be back. A special note: the bartender is awesome....professional and attentive. Went to get some food, menu looks good. Place is nice inside. Older crowd. No wait staff came to the table after 15 minutes. Bartender did not acknowledge me until I got a stool. She washed glasses and made drinks for others. When I did get a seat, I had been here nearly 25 minutes at this point, While nice enough, I was told they had to check if they had some of the menu items. I looked to the left at a sign that said "FULL MENU AT ALL TIMES" They we're out of what I wanted. This too another 5 minutes to tell me. I am now here over half an hour. I changed my order. She comes back with an additional 25 minutes. My friends band is now starting in 5 minutes at another bar. I cancel and leave hungry and a little pissed. Two stars because it is nice inside and has potential, but failed miserably today. read more

Went for steak night (they have it on Tuesdays and Saturdays) and the Spotlight did not disappoint! Great drinks and awesome food. The steaks are on par with or better than most of the pricey steakhouses in town. For $20 I got a Mediterranean salad to start ( I could eat this every day), an 8 oz filet (mouthwatering- knife sliced through it like butter), a side of dipping au jus which you want to drink as well as dip it's so good, scalloped potatoes (delish), green beans (so good I would eat out of my shoe), couple slices of squash with 2 asparagus ( wish there was WAY more of that side), and a homemade roll with butter that was also apparently homemade. I can't explain how good this meal was and the volume of food you do receive for the price. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. I highly recommend! read more
