I stopped in here to get a to-go drink. This place seems to be a great spot for game day. There is outside seating under a sturdy, open structure (think carport) with TVs outside. The inside has side entrances that open to the outside area. Three major gripes... The place is wheelchair accessible as far as getting on the "porch." There is a ramp for it. But when asked whether there was a ramp to actually get inside to order a drink, we were told there is none. Disappointingly enough, none of the employees came near the entrance to make ordering easier. We had masks on, they did not, so it did not make sense why none of them came closer. The bar had no other patrons. Next, I am admittedly more apprehensive about sanitation, or a lack thereof, now. I was a bit taken aback that the whole process of making drinks and taking our order was done without gloves. I would not have cared had the bartender simply made drinks but squeezing the lemon and dropping it in the drink with her bare hands rattled my spirit. I don't know--maybe I'm being too anal. I just think proper hand washing or sanitation is more important than ever during COVID. Third, my friend was sure his Crown Apple was mixed with something else. We drink it enough to know. LOL. On this point, I will not say with 100% certainty it was diluted or mixed, but he was certain it was. Overall, I do not think this bar is terrible. It's a typical Metairie bar that sits in the middle of the suburbs. I also do not think it's unwise to stop in for a drink or to hang out. These are just my complaints. read more

This is a perfect example of a Metry dive bar. A friend invited me to this bar one night for a drink. Little did I know I was in for some serious culture shock. As my GPS directed me to this residential area, I was concerned that I may be in the wrong place. I saw the sign and knew I wasn't, so I headed for the door, or what I thought was the door. I am used to businesses having an entrance in the front center. This entrance was on the side, as if I were entering a house. My drinking buddy was already at the bar, so I pulled up a stool and ordered an Abita. The beer was cold and only $3.25. The bartender was very friendly. i attributed this to the fact that she told me she had been drinking since two. Normally I frown upon drinking and working, but it worked for her. This bar has karaoke, but didn't have any Lil Wayne, B.G. or Juvenile. Because the Nola rap selection was lacking, i was unable to impress the crowd with my amazing rap skills. They did have P-Control by Prince, but even after listening to his version, I wasn't drunk enough to attempt it. Oh well, there is always next time. This bar had some awesome things going for it. Here are some examples: Behind the bar was a woman with a flat iron straightening her hair. An older gentleman with an amazing mullet. The bartender making it rain with napkins, then bending at the waist to pick them up all while shaking her moneymaker. A very cool conversation with a singer about the origins of the Edmund Fitzgerald melody. I want to rate this bar higher because of the awesome things going on, but I just cant. While I enjoyed it, this isn't the area I would normally go out. read more

The only reason I ever go here is for the Thursday and Sunday steak nights. You HAVE to get here early as they sell out of steaks FAST!!! They also have a pretty decent menu of other things (like tuna steak). The steaks have always been tasty, fairly priced, and you receive your order pretty quickly. The bartenders have always been nice and efficient. The location is completely strange off in the middle of a combination of residential and weird office spaces not far from Lakeside Mall...only in Metairie could you find a spot like this. read more

I have it 4 stars because the food, chef and bartender are 5 stars, but the environment is 3 star. There are a lot of males that frequent this establishment and I always get stared at when I walk in and it's uncomfortable. You have to navigate inside, and order the food at the bar (which is hard to get close to since all the guys are usually sitting along it). Its also dark and loud, and since it's Metairie and not New Orleans, smoking is allowed inside and sometimes it can be a bit smoky. It doesn't bother me, but I want you to be comfortably with what you go to. They don't serve any other food you can order, but on Thursday they have a steak night where Chef Rob comes out and grills these AMAZING 20 oz ribeyes, huge filets, and double cut pork chop, and some fish. They also do crawfish on fridays in season and it's actually one of the best boils I've been to. The ribeye is 13.25 and comes with DELICIOUS chunky garlic smashed potatoes and corn (honestly I would pay 13.25 for a plate of just the potatoes they're just that good). It takes a while to get your food since he cooks it to order and there's always people waitibg, BUT IT IS WORTH IT. So grab a beer, sit back and talk with friends. The drink prices are great, they have video poker and a pool table, and the bartender Daphne is wonderful. My only other complaint is that the woman's restroom is this TINY single that faces into the bar and there is a table directly next to the door which makes me uncomfortable if people are there because it's awkward to stand there and wait for it to be free. Plus the door latch is loose and there's not much room to move inside... But even with all of my little complaints, steak night is still AMAZING. read more

I came here on a Thursday night with my friends because I heard good things about their Thursday Steak Nights. I was not sure what to expect of this place at first. We got to the place and there were tables outside with people hanging out. We went inside of this bar wondering if you grab menus or talk to one of the bartenders. We finally asked the bartender about the steak night special. She told us that we need to order the steak night special through her, but you need to get a minimum of 2 drinks per steak special. It's a really good steak deal and the drink minimum was okay for us since we were hanging out anyways. Nothing's wrong with cracking open some cold ones while eating some delicious steak. Our bartender gave us a round of beers and a few caps for us to trade with her for our next round of beers. We sat at a table outside and hung out watching a random football game displaying on a TV for customers sitting outside. The steaks came out and they're huge! My friends and I were all starving, but we had to take some pictures of the plate! A couple of my friends' steaks were a bit under-cooked, but we just asked them to cook it for a little while longer. Overall, this place is tiny and their Thursday Steak Nights are awesome! If your steaks end up being a little under-cooked, then ask them to throw it on the grill for a little while longer. If you're looking for something cheap and really good on a Thursday night then this is the place to be! Their steaks are super cheap and they come with sides! I've only been here once and I was pretty impressed with this coming from a place that is a bar. The chef is super friendly and his food is delicious! The steak is the size of hand, no joke! It's more than enough food. I do have a couple of minor complaints though...I asked for medium rare, but it was medium. Not too big of an issue because the steak was well seasoned. I wish there was indoor seating where you wouldn't smell like smoke, or maybe cooler outside seating. Other than that, I would definitely be back! read more

There comes a time in life when fate chooses your path and on the eve of December 29, 2010, fate chose for me to finish a goal that I started just 30 days ago. The first-ever Gambit Bar Stampede. To enter for a grand prize of nearly $1000 worth of bar tabs around the city I had to go to at least 25 of the 42 participating businesses. Seems like an easy task in theory but, Sometimes your friends don't want to go to a dodgy bar so you can get a precious sticker to mark your accomplishments. Fights were fought, friendships were squandered. The end was nearing and to no choice but my own I knew it was time for me to go rogue. December 29, 2010, 8:45 pm - I sit counting my stickers on my crumpled official game map that I have carried in my wallet for nearly a month getting stickers for each place I visited. I counted and recounted again, I was missing one precious sticker to qualify and time was running out. Out of the few opportunities I had left I decided a swoop and scoop method would be best. My finger landed on 22nd Street bar, after a quick Google search I decided this would be a fast win. Not far, guaranteed parking and cheap drinks. Ten minutes later me and my co-pilot pulled into one of many parking spots across the street from the bar. With a deep breath we hesitently opened the door to 22nd street bar. This was it, no turning back now. What is this, I see? People...plenty of people from all walks of life lining the entire bar cheering and living the good life. How unexpected! A smile sprawled across my face as we occupied the last two seats in the bar. It was clear, this was a regular bar environment. In fact, I think we were the only two "newbies" on this December night No one seemed to mind our intruding, actually they did not even realize we were there until ten minutes later. We didn't mind as they were quite entertaining and were enjoying the show. Someone from our side of the bar yelled to the "bartender", "Ya got new customah's!" The bartender threw her hands in the air and exclaimed "OH, LOOK AT THIS!" I was frightened, but remained calm and smiled to show I was not frustrated with the nonchalant attitude that came with the place. I had an inkling that she had been drinking, which made me switch from a gin and tonic to a drink that did not have to be mixed. I was a more stubborn, "I don't drink beer" person back then so I ordered what someone has never dared to order at 22nd street bar. A chardonnay. You heard me. Out of panic I ordered a damn chardonnay because only the classiest bitches can do that. The bartender then stared at the hard liquor bottles for a solid five minutes (I timed it). Wanting to be of help, I mentioned that the wine might be in the cooler. She laughed so hard I think she might have peed a little bit. She came out from the back and poured my glass of wine to the brim, like a martini. Alright then, Success! I took a few sips and she topped me off without even second guessing her action. At that exact moment, I knew I was never leaving. An hour later and still only one "glass" in (very possible a bottle, but couldn't really keep track) Someone shouted "shots!" from across the bar and boom, Jaeger shots for all. Now, Jaeger is not my drink of choice, but it was that night. There is a cool digital jute box and I was voted to be DJ for the night. Someone randomly handed me a five dollar bill and told me, "go play shit" You don't have to tell me twice. I picked a few of the top 40 hits, a few oldies and wahlah, Dance party 2010 is launched. While I was still sober enough I got my weathered bar stampede map out from my wallet to receive my last sticker. I showed it to the bartender and It was like showing her a 1834 map that lead to pirate's treasure. She took it from my hands and said, "Da Fuq is this?" It was clear the bar stampede did not bring any new customers and I was the first one that traveled to these parts. I explained that I needed a sticker and this completely blew her mind. Thankfully, she had a stroke of genius and remembered her manager mentioning something about it a month or so ago. Phew! with my last sticker in tact I thanked them for the most spontaneous, fun and hysterical night of my life. I have since returned, but of course it does not have the same recipe of magic in the air so all I have left are memories and this story. You have my heart 22nd street, you have my heart. PS. Sure, it's a divey bar, and honestly there's really no reason to go here considering all of your other options, but this place has two redeeming qualities. The first thing that saves this place is the karaoke. Sure, the sound system kind of sucks, but it's something to do when you are in the mood for something a little different. The second thing is, on Thursdays, you can get a huge steak and mashed potatoes and corn for $10. You can't beat that! They also offer chicken, salmon, and tuna, if red meat isn't your thang. Oh! Karaoke night is always fun (the guy who used to go there on karaoke nights and sing Jethro Tull and Cat Stevens is amazing!)! The bartenders are awesome, and you can have a perfectly fine conversation with the stranger sitting next to you at the bar. The steak night here is AWESOME I would be giving them more stars if they feature steak night more than once a week or if the bartender were better. I've been here several times, and always have issues with the dark, long-haired bartender. On my most recent visit (yesterday) I went inside to get a drink, and she was already serving someone at the bar. I waited patiently and expected that I would be served next. She looked right at me, walked out from behind the bar, and talked on for a good long while with a friend. This is a regular thing. She consistently ignores me and others. I stood there, extremely annoyed, and just walked right back outside to continue eating my steak. And I KNOW it is not just me. Several of my other friends who frequent 22 have the same issue with the bartender. After a while, I started getting really thirsty and asked my boyfriend to go inside and get for me a sprite or ginger ale. He came back out with a small cup that was mostly ice and about 4oz of sprite which was $1.75! (Which I think was the happy hour price also). I wouldn't be coming here if it weren't for Chef Rob. If I could give this place a zero star rating, I would. My friends and I were having a girl's night out and we googled places that had Karaoke. So, we were happy when 22nd Street Lounge popped up b/c we weren't that far away. We walk in and there's someone singing, so we were like, "YES! we picked a good spot!" When she finished her song, the Karaoke DJ disappeared w/ no announcement. We asked the bartender about it and she was three sheets to the wind so she didn't know where he went. About 15-20 minutes later he came back, so my friend signed up. Well, about 2 regulars were allowed to go before my friend even though there wasn't a sign-up sheet. But, that's ok, b/c regulars get better treatment usually. So, the bartender comes over and explains to us how she's not really the bartender, she's just giving the real bartender a break. She explains how she used to work there, etc., etc., etc. Well, then she comes over and tries to tell us the same story again. I guess she didn't remember that she already told us (b/c of the 3 sheets to the wind thing) So, then the real bartender comes back from her break. They must have been having a few together b/c she seems as inebriated as the other gal. We ask to close out and this process takes a while b/c I don't think that she heard my friend b/c she came back to ask us if we were ready for another one and we had to remind her that we were ready to close out. She was also forgetful. So now she knows we are ready to close out. It still takes a good 10 minutes b/c something is happening w/ the credit card paper. So, while that is getting sorted out, we watch her make a few shots for the regulars and have one w/ them. Then she walks over to the 2 guys sitting next to us and she grabs one of their drinks and starts drinking it. I thought I was on candid camera or Punk'd.
