I can not recommend her. She verbally contracted to clean up and re-stain the wood on the outside of the house. In the verbal bid she gave me was to fix the scratches on some doors on the interior of the house and reseal them with varathane. When she showed up to do the job she asked to be paid in cash, no checks. In between other jobs she came and did the wood on the outside over the course of a couple of weeks. She came for the last bit and said she wanted to be paid for the job. I asked her if she got all of the wood, she said yes. I then showed her the vigas that she had missed. She came back and did them and then wanted to be paid in full for the job. I asked her what a bout the interior doors. She replied that I told her I didn't want her to do those. What I had said was that I wanted to have the exterior done first and then the inside. She would not make an adjustment for not doing the interior. Get it in writing if you want to deal with her. She also dripped stain all over the walls while doing the vigas. Spilled a can of stain in the gravel as well. She said she would rake it out and did not. She is not a person of her word. read more

They painted a rusty metal fence for me (about 600 feet long). They gave a bid quickly, the work was done within a week, and the fence now looks like new. They do all kinds of painting, interior and exterior. This is a "no job too big or too small" kind of place. read more

Cheryl (owner) did a great job. She painted the entire interior of my daughter's rental house, including patching holes and all trim work, on short notice. She also did a few odd jobs for my daughter - hung new towel rod, moved dining light fixture, installed new shower head, added molding to a door, and realigned another door. I needed two homes completely repainted on the inside...ceilings, walls, and all window & door trims. I also needed two exterior doors repainted, as well as the entire stucco exterior of the backside of one of the homes. I met with three local, licensed painting contractors to review the scope of both projects and to solicit written bids for the work. The first two contractors spent less than 15 minutes each looking at the jobs and told me to expect their quotes within 3 or 4 business days. Cheryl Ackerly spent more than an hour at BOTH houses, and offered me a firm quote right on the spot. I was immediately impressed with her attention to detail and depth of knowledge on exactly what I needed and how to accomplish all of the work to my very nit-picky satisfaction. I instantly hired her and never regretted it. Cheryl is a good communicator with a professional work ethic...she closely coordinated her schedule with me so I always knew when to expect her to begin working, and she wasted no time when she was on the job. I spent a considerable amount of time observing her while she worked, and I was happy to see she was never in a hurry...she took her time and made sure she did everything right. She really wanted the outcome to be as perfect as if it were her own homes, and I was exceedingly pleased with the final results. She repaired large drywall cracks and a huge area of deteriorated stucco, meticulously restoring them to such pristine condition that you simply can't tell they were ever there. She was always patient with my constant questions, and calmly answered them until I was satisfied she was right...and Cheryl was always right, every step of the way! If I ever need any painting work again on any home I own in Otero County, I will only hire Cheryl to do it...and unhesitatingly recommend her to anyone who wants an immaculate, professional job done for a reasonable price. Total cost for her to do both our houses with a combined 4100sf, plus the exterior stucco painting, was $4600. When I finally received the bids from the other two contractors, they were both more than $8000. Cheryl did a great job for almost half that amount.
