Update: ANOTHER dismissed ticket! :) And this one was for an accident that was CLEARLY my fault. He's awesome.

My first tangle ever with the popo resulted in a "speeding" ticket, a ticket for an expired inspection sticker, and eventually a warrant for a failure to appear in court. I went from never having a ticket to 3 hits within the span of a couple weeks, and all 3 cases were unwarranted. Thanks to David Sprecher, my record remains unscathed and the process was smooth as the filling in a jelly donut... *sniff sniff* does anyone else smell bacon? MY CASES: 1) Speeding - The speed limit on Bellaire blvd had just been changed to 25 mph. Before any speed limit signs were visible I got caught in a very disruptive and surprising speed trap... going 35 mph. They also got me for not signalling, which is a 100% lie. 2) Expired Inspection Sticker + Failure to Appear - I was scouring the city for a missing light cover so I could get my car inspected. A cop on Bellaire stopped me in the middle of this. His sloppy handwriting made it appear as if my court date was 4/18/2014, when in fact he wrote 4/8/2014, resulting in my failure to appear. I discovered David Sprecher by referral. Sprecher's associates were quick to respond to my e-mail request for representation. He advised me to pay my bond with 3 Amigos Bonding - $40 per case is the rate if you are using Sprecher. Afterwards, I paid David a total of $250 via Paypal. Boom. Hired. I was scheduled to appear in court less than a month after that. Conveniently, David was able to get both of my cases heard on the same day. With "evidence" in hand, I strutted into the courthouse, not sure what to expect having never been there before. Sprecher identified me immediately without ever having met me. He escorted me back and forth between two courtrooms, making sure that I got on the role calls. My first case was dismissed within 2 hours of my arrival. The second case was a little rougher, with the policeman showing up, getting visibly pissed off, raising his voice about the matter. At 2 PM, Sprecher warned me that getting the case dismissed would be tough because of my age (under 25). I wasn't totally sure as to why, but he quickly ran off to continue fighting my case. As 2:30 PM approached, I was called to the bench to learn that case #2 had been dismissed. David Sprecher did all the work. All I had to do was sit back with my book and enjoy my own company (oh... and the company of about 100 sketchy characters). Sans paying a bond, a single case will run you around $100 - $150. That's a small price to pay for a clean record. I would 100% hire him to represent me again, although I hope I never have to. read more

I received a speeding ticket, and hired Mr. Sprecher to defend me due to his supposed good track record at getting these cases dismissed. Mr. Sprecher took my case, but then last week did not show up to the court date. The replacement lawyer he sent in his stead was the last attorney in the court (after I was told to arrive 30 minutes early), told me he'd "see what he could do" about my case, and then proceeded to leave the court for close to 2.5 hours and had to be paged back to return. I ended up being the last case resolved for the day, long after the other law firms' clients had gotten to leave. When my attorney finally did return, he basically told me nothing could be done to resolve my case, other than taking traffic school or deferred disposition, which are the two options afforded me had I just taken care of the ticket myself. From listening in to the other cases, other law firms were arranging deals to get cases dismissed, or at a minimum moved down to non-moving violations so the clients don't have to be on a 3 month probationary period or do driving school. The replacement lawyer didn't even entertain my idea of arguing that I had already gone 8 months without another ticket to get the probationary period waived, I guess because that would have required him to do SOMETHING that day that resembled work. After all that, the firm refused to refund me my money I paid for my "representation". Long story short, I paid for legal representation I didn't receive, and wasted 3+ hours of my life in court when I could have gotten the same outcome by just using the resources at my disposal initially to take care of the ticket. All in all, I would have been better off representing myself, which is not why you hire a professional. In short, if you get a ticket, take your business to Sullo or Kubosh. At least they'll act like you hired them the day of your court appearance. read more

I received a simple traffic citation from Houston PD and (after hearing many recommendations to use Sprecher & Associates) called these guys up. I couldn't be happier with the professional staff or the results of my case. Granted, all cases are different and they cannot guarantee any form of an outcome. However, I do feel comfortable guaranteeing that you will be pleased with the way you're treated throughout the process. They are good people and I'd use them again if I received another citation. I don't think this guy is still in business. His voicemail is still active, which asks you to send them an email with details on your ticket, but after 2 tries, I can't get anyone to call or email back. Also, his website had been taken over by an ad site, the URL not renewed or something. Used to hear good things about him, but everyone I talk to says not in the last 3 years or so. I received a speeding ticket in Oct. 2010 and decided to contest it. After reviewing all the lawyers on line I hired David Sprecher. After three court appearances, he managed to get the charges dismissed in court on April 19, 2013. David was terrific. Plus there were no extra charges after I paid the flat fee of around $140 in 2010. He was always in court, explained what was happening, what to expect, and what choices I had. We hired this attorney office - We took one of the classes and it was definitely an eye-opening experience. We have worked in the legal industry over 3 years now, known some wonderful & not so good attorneys, and was involved in a major effort to free someone wrongfully convicted of medical collections. They worked both sides of the legal fence - they have been both a prosecutor and a defense attorney, clearly has considerable expertise in the civil justice area. They also committed to quality service. There are good cops here but it's undeniable that we also have an ongoing problem with both incompetence and corruption. Combine that with Harris County leading the country in both proven wrongful convictions. read more

I get speeding tickets about once every three years and have always used David Sprecher to have them dismissed, but I think the quality of his service has gone downhill. He had me sit in court all day and never came up to me to talk to me and left me with a reluctant substitute lawyer who didn't even work in his office. I had a clean driving record and my ticket was for going 41 mph in a 30 mph zone, so the worst case scenario should've been deferred adjudication. But instead he made the decision to do a jury trial and didn't even ask me if I wanted to try for deferred adjudication or defensive driving. I watched him make small talk about his land in the country with the DA and other courtroom employees while completely ignoring me. Of course, I lost the trial and the lawyer he put me with indicated that he was not surprised that we lost because juries tended to like the police officer who gave me the ticket. That angered me because if it seemed likely that I would lose then I should've been given the chance to get deferred adjudication or the option to do defensive driving. I tried to find David Sprecher after the trial to talk to him about my disappointment but he had already left the courthouse and when I called his office they told me to call him at home that evening. His office wouldn't let me leave a message to have him call me, they simply said that he's in court all day every day and the only time I could talk to him was in the evenings. When I called him in the evening, it felt unprofessional that I had to call his home after 8 pm and he acted like it was not a big deal that I lost the trial but now I have to deal with a speeding ticket on my record that would affect my car insurance premium and any applications that ask the question whether or not I've had a speeding ticket in the last 3 years. He said he would try to appeal it but I haven't heard anything from him about an appeal since I talked with him. In the past, I've highly recommended him to family and friends for dealing with speeding tickets but I won't be recommending him anymore. It seems like he's lost his edge over the years and should probably retire. Now, I have to find a new lawyer for speeding tickets. read more

Davis S Sprecher and Associates, P.C. is an Attorney that specializes in traffic court cases. I was issued a citation for speeding on 06/05/2018 by the Harris County Sheriff's Office and had a court date set for 07/17/2018. I contacted Sprecher & Associates on 06/08/2018 for representation in court and a mere four minutes later my email was responded to by Kathy who told me the fee for representation would be $100.00 and upon my authorization, I would be sent a PayPal invoice for services. I sent the authorization and received the PayPal invoice which I then paid on 06/08/2018. On 07/23/2018 I contacted Kathy at Sprecher & Associates and asked about the status of my court date to which Kathy responded by saying that a new court date had not been set at the present time and that I would be notified when a court date was set. On 05/13/2019 I was sent a 'Notice of Non-Appearance" from the Harris County Sheriff's Office stating that I had missed my court date and an arrest warrant had been issued for my arrest. Since Sprecher & Associates can be contacted through email, phone, and text message, I tried daily to reach out to Sprecher & Associates for two weeks without a single response from them. Ultimately, on 05/26/2019, I decided to pay the fine of $201.50 for the Failure to Appear charge instead of risk going to jail. On 07/03/2019 I received an email from Kathy stating that I had a court date and it was scheduled for 12/19/2019. After showing up for the court docket at Sprecher & Associates request and meeting with the representative from Sprecher & Associates, more than six months after I had paid the fine for Failure to Appear, I find the case has been disposed of since 05/26/2019 when I paid the fine. After leaving the courthouse, I called Kathy and left a voicemail for her to call me. Kathy text me that she was very sorry and can't understand how something like this could happen. I requested a refund for the $201.50 Failure to Appear charges to which she only agreed to refund the $100.00 PayPal services fee. Kathy stated that since the amount of time that had expired, PayPal would not be able to reverse the charges and a check would need to be sent to my home address. After three reminders to send the refund check to my house, I gave up and decided that the best course of action would be to inform the Better Business Bureau so that others don't get swindled by Kathy and/or Sprecher & Associates. read more

I am a lawyer, and I have used Mr. Sprecher for over 25 years. He has always been not only extremely professional but entirely effective. Perfect in fact. Lawyers specialize and I do a different kind of law. If I went down there to represent myself, I'd probably end up in jail. Traffic court is Sprecher's domain. I have a clean driving record, and always have had thanks to him. That is worth a fortune in insurance premiums. After reading some of these dissatisfied reviews, I'm kind of wondering if these aren't plants from the competition, because they just don't sound like the operation I have been using for so long. read more

I've used David Sprecher & Associates since I moved to Houston in 2008. They're still batting 1.000 after today's court date, which went to jury trial. We felt confident I would win since I had photos of foliage covering a sign denoting a road as one-way. However, before we even got to the evidence, my attorney noted that the prosecutor asked the officer on the stand if the citation happened on such-and-such a date, which happened to be the wrong date, which the officer affirmed nonetheless. Not missing a beat, my attorney called for a motion and noted his observation to the judge. A beat later, the jury was called back in and dismissed, as was my ticket. Hired David Sprecher for a ticket and paid $200, went to court and had to pay another $200 for deferred adjudication, which I could have done myself and just paid the ticket. This attorney did nothing for me but cost me more money. Never Again!! read more

Was referred to Atty Sprecher by 2 persons who had success with him previously. Received a speeding and expired registration -out of state- ticket in July 2018. After contacting him on the day I was supposed to appear in court, and having to reschedule my court dates twice due to conflictions with work, he met me this morning at the court house. My fines would have been in excess of $600, but he was bale to negotiate the dismissal of the speeding violation and the registration fine reduced! My out of pocket was $111.00 and I only paid the nominal, initial fee to him. His professionalism, courtesy, and good reputation within the legal system resulted in a single mother of 2 who works like crazy to make ends meet be able to walk away with an unblemished record and a lot more left in the bank than anticipated. I can not thank him enough for all his efforts made on my behalf. I recommend him whole-heartedly. read more

I have used Sprecher for years, and recommend his firm to EVERYONE. Getting a ticket is a horrible feeling, but knowing that it is being completely taken care of by the best is the only way to go. You literally send him your ticket and you just show up when he tells you. I am confident that he is the best in Houston. read more

This is the first online review I have EVER done but I had to post my experience. Brief disclaimer: Please do not post rude rebuttals to my posting seeing that this is MY INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE AND AM ENTITLED TO MY OWN OPINION. OK, so I initially spoke to Kathy on the phone when I called last Friday and she was really helpful. She explained everything to me, didn't rush, answered all my questions and told me to come in to the office soon to get things started. I felt good about my decision using this firm. Then, I went. I walked in and saw only one woman at the front, a cute Latin girl with a really short haircut (I'm describing her since I didn't get her name and also if her boss reads this he will know she was the one that lost him a potential client.) I walked up to her, she didn't say hi until I did (Red Flag) and I quickly told her the reason I was there and that I had spoken with "someone" previously ( I couldn't recall the name "Kathy" at the time). The woman in front of me was definitely NOT Kathy. She didn't have the same voice for one, but most of all the same attitude!!! When I say her attitude was TERRIBLE I am being 100% honest. The way she made me feel during the short time I was there was unbelievable. Her whole demeanor was disgustingly negative and horribly sour. Unfortunately It is impossible for me to perfectly describe in words the tone and vibe of how she was acting, but I will try my best. "Do you have your ticket?" She asks. I handed it to her, looking at it she says "YOU MISSED YOUR COURT DATE????" in a harsh and judging tone in combination with a squinted face and a raised eyebrow. (Who are you, my MOM? I thought.) "No I rescheduled it." "Well do you have that paper work??" she says. "No. I told the previous woman that I didn't have it and she told me to bring whatever I have." I said. Realizing now what type of personality I was dealing with, I say "Maybe I should come back when the other girl is here since she and I have already gone over all this." The negative woman sitting in front of me just ignores me and continues to ask her routine questions. I ask her, "Did the other woman put any information in your system when I spoke to her last Friday?" A blunt "No" was all she muttered. Since I was now angry at her attitude (which was the core source of her poor customer service) and even just the lack of SOCIAL ETIQUETTE she conveyed, I repeated, "You know, why don't I come back when the other woman is here. I already spoke to her, she knows everything and I think this will work better if I speak with her." Staring at me with lazy eyes and with attitude she says " Do you even know who you spoke with??" I wanted to say Well, she was super nice and helpful, sounded upbeat and at least smart enough to realized that there are a ton of other competing law firms out there that want my money too. But, I only replied "No, I can't remember" since I was mostly focusing on both how mad I was becoming and getting out of there. What is your ticket for???" She calculated the cost " It's going to be $170.00." "The other woman quoted me $155.00 I think" I replied. She made a short quiet laugh, shook her head and said "No." "Well maybe it was $165.00?" I reply, thinking aloud. she laughed again and said "No." With a harsh tone I said "Well it sure wasn't ONE SEVENTY!" I knew for a fact it wasn't $170! I finally had it. The look she was giving me, like I was a dumb#$$, I said again staring harshly in her eyes, " I am going to come back and talk to the other woman." I grabbed the copy of my ticket and left. Ten minutes later, I was on the phone with another law firm in which I was recommended. I paid them $145.00 for the same ticket and a had a better experience. If you are anything like I am, then you value how the people that YOU HIRE treat you and believe It should be a good experience from start to finish. Whether or not an employer realizes, the people they hire are a direct representation and extension of them, their company image and their services. read more

Not sure how effective they are yet as court is still in session, but the office staff could not be more rude. Associate showed up almost 2 hours late. When the office was called, we were informed that it would not be Mr. Sprecher, all fine and good, but I believe the client should have been told prior to the court date that it would not be Sprecher himself. When asked (on behalf of my boss, who is the client), if he had been told someone else would be handling the case, response was "well, he didn't ask....It is David Sprecher AND ASSOCIATES". She was QUITE rude and hung up on me when I asked her for her name. If I am ever in a position to need a traffic attorney, i'm sure there are other, more professional choices out there. I would not use Sprecher OR HIS ASSOCIATES. read more

I was using him for years and even recently referred him to my family. Like the other reviews have said, his service has definitely gone downhill. I normally found him to be very professional in the past but when he took me aside to talk about my case this time he kept interjecting convoluted stories to my questions that only required a yes or no response. My brother used him last month flying in from New York because he got his speeding ticket here. He waited all morning, his case went to trial, and Sprecher was not able to get his ticket dismissed. Now Im sitting here waiting in the courtroom, realizing I should've just paid for court fees and defensive driving because I'm losing money not being in the office. Seriously from 7am-2pm...is how long I'll be sitting here with no guarantee of anything. It's not like it was before because the legal system changed as well. In the future I will no longer be using a lawyer and will certainly not recommend his services to anyone. read more

They moved to Waller but that's not far from Houston. They e-mail to remind you of the court date & They are still as dependable as before and really know their stuff. Wouldn't use anyone else for Harris county. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My husband hired for a traffic ticket and they never showed up to represent him. True wast of money! We could have set a new court date for free vs paying them $150 to do nothing. Called left messages to explain exactly what we paid them for since they didnt show up. Ofcourse never returned our call. Very unprofessional and would never recommend to anyone. read more

While I have not used him in well over a decade, I know he always got business done, and even represented me when in another jurisdiction and my hired attorney didn't show up (I didn't know he worked out there, or I would have hired him). read more

It is amazing to find such intelligent experienced, diligent, and appropriate legal advice in the traffic court for such an incredibly cheap price! The office is not fancy and the staff is not perfect but Sprecher is awesome especially in relation to the youngsters from the firms that solicit your business by mail. read more
