When I dropped it off, I clearly told them not to do any work until I approved the price, and they agreed to call me the next day with an estimate. Days passed with no call. When I followed up, the same employee told me the sweater wasn't done and that he still didn't know the price. I said I'd just come pick it up. Shortly after that, the owner called saying the sweater was already finished and the total would be $45. I was shocked--they did the work without my approval. When I mentioned this, the owner became defensive and said she had been in and out of the hospital and didn't have time to call people back. She also claimed the sweater had been dry cleaned and told me that if I didn't want to pay, she would keep it and donate it. My wife called after I explained what happened. She calmly explained how unprofessional that was, and the owner said she'd undo the repair so we could pick it up the next day. But when I got there 20 minutes after my first call, the shop was still open, and the employee was confrontational--saying they "don't work for free." When I asked to take a photo of the sweater for documentation, he said it wasn't there, even though I had just been told it was finished. Eventually, after I insisted he call the owner, she told him to give me my sweater back and not to return. The whole experience was frustrating and unprofessional. I felt stuck--like they were holding my item hostage. I strongly recommend reading other reviews and getting all prices in writing before leaving anything there. I always try to support small local businesses, but this one made it very difficult. And to top it off, the business card they gave me wasn't even for Frank's Cleaners--it said Beachport Cleaners instead.

UPDATE: After leaving the sheets, blankets and bath towels out on a bed overnight to air out the…read morescent, the scent was still pretty strong this morning. So I don't see how they can advertise as using "free and clear" detergent. Doesn't that mean scent-free? Family medical issues have resulted in home chores, one of which was laundry, taking a back seat. So I was very happy to find a service that would take care of this task for me. I went with Wash Wizards based on the stellar reviews, the convenience of no-contact pick-up and drop-off, the free and clear detergent (aka scent-free), and the free cloth laundry bag that was supposed to come with the delivery of my first order that would then allow me to fill the bag with the items I wanted to have washed. I placed my order (bedding and bath rugs) on Friday for a Saturday pick-up. And since this was my first order, I placed my laundry in trash bags outside my front door. I just put everything in the bags. The order was picked up before noon and delivered today (Monday) before noon as well. Now, according to the website "Everything comes back to you folded and packaged in a cloth laundry bag that is provided free of charge." However, mine did not. Instead, everything came packaged in one large clear plastic bag that was knotted so tight that I had to use scissors to get the laundry out. In terms of quality of services, they did a great job folding the sheets, but there was a definite scent on the laundry. Also, I can only suppose that they washed everything (rather than separating by colors) in hot water because my pale pink sheets and floral sheets looked duller, and my slate blue sheets had clearly faded. Again, having not used a laundry service before, if I needed to separate the washing into separate bags, that would have been helpful to have included in the FAQ. And I guess I have been so used to washing in cold water that I didn't think of adding that to my order - so I'll take the blame for that - but perhaps updating the website order page to include that as an option to select, because when you are busy with other things that you need a laundry service, adding notes to your laundry is the last thing on your mind. Finally, the lack of a laundry bag bugged me, especially since the website specifically promised one as coming with the first order.
