Our friends took us there after highly recommending it. We made the 2hr drive for what was to be to die for food. Sad to say I was disappointed. We ordered two appetizers- river rat balls & brushetta. Both were really good. All four of ordered the Saturday special of prime rib. Came with two sides. The side salad was the bombdotcom with homemade croutons. The American fries were decent but a bit soggy. The prime rib had ZERO seasoning and I paid an upcharge of $1.00 to make it Cajun. Nope... no flavor. Nada. Just a hunk of meat. I did scope out all other food coming from the small kitchen where you could hear the staff having a great time. It looked good so maybe we ordered wrong... but the menu is limited on prime rib days and what I normally would order wasn't available. Side note- I've worked in the restaurant business... not one person in the kitchen had hair nets on. Food was handles with barehands and I saw repeated cross contamination. The prime rib they cut our hunks off of laid on a counter dripping blood onto the floor that then had a towel thrown over it. I've been coming to Spring Lake Inn for around 25 years. Over the past 5 or 6 years it really went down in quality. Everything use to be perfect. I stopped going to Spring Lake for a few years and just recently went back when I heard they had new owners. I was pleasantly surprised! I had the peel and eat shrimp which were cooked perfectly. My dad had the prime rib, while it did not have the herb crust it used to have back in the day, it was wonderfully seasoned. My husband got the smash burger- which was not smashed at all and was pretty thick. But it was juicy and he loved it. My mom shared the prime rib with my dad but got a plate of American fries that were just like how they used to be and she loved them. The cheese curds were cooked just right. The portion was smaller than in the past, but they are around the same size or a bit larger than the other restaurants around town. Our favorite servers, Nicole, was there! Was in town for Labor Day weekend. It was the closest place to where we were staying so 1st day made sense to check it out. We ended up having dinner all 3 evenings. I've been here before a few years ago and it was okay (came for the highly recommend prime rib) very average but palatable. Recently went in again with a group of four and it was so bad we all paid the bill and walked out the door. Prime rib was like a boiled pork chop? No flavor and texture of an old shoe. The ribs were dry and over cooked, fish was a chunk of fryer grease lathered in fake butter. It was all soooo bad. Is the place under new management or something??? read more

We have been loyal customers for years and understand restaurants have had a hard time the last few years. But the last 2 times we've gone there for dinner, they were closed. The most recent time was a few days ago. They had posted their menu for pasta night on their facebook page so we drove 25 miles from Seneca only to be told by someone inside they were closed, not even 2 hours after their menu post. We asked people at Cabellas where to go for fish fry. Most said Angus, and I bet it's great. But some guy said "Spring Lake has the best fish fry: it's where the locals go." He was right. The food was good, atmosphere casual and lively. Brandy old fashioneds were stronger than they look. Fried cod was lightly battered and yummy with thick tartar sauce. My dinner companion wasn't as impressed by the catfish, which seemed a little dry and overdone. Maybe just an off night for the popular dish. This place is Great. I'm a return customer. This is about" locals" enjoying a "true" Wisconsin Style Supper Club experience. That's the draw..." locals" and very good food and drinks. Your classic FRIDAY FISH FRY & SATURDAY PRIME RIB...all artery clogging and deliciously great food. The Blue Cheese Burger is a damn good as well. I normally do not give bad reviews, but....i think I need to on this one. My family and I went there yesterday and we waited over an hour to get our food. And when we did, everything was burnt. Hamburgers were fried to a crisp as well as the fish sandwiches. After we finally got our food, no one ever came back to our table. Several people walked out instead of waiting for their food. We finally had to ask the bartender for our bill, and there was no apology or anything. I get that places are struggling for help, but there was never an apology. read more

I was disappointed, the Prime rib was good but just not the same flavors as I previously enjoyed. The Prime Rib was missing the Rosemary seasoning that I have been coming back for many years, after spending the day on the river. Tonight I missed the unique taste of their seasoned prime rib. My dad and brother really love the fish fry on fridays. Im not a fish person but they have a lot of other good choices on the menu for me. I got a plain vheeseburger and it was delivious. Great food (large portions), at great prices with an old school/Wisconsin/outdoorsy vibe. Small dining room and bar area (where you can also eat - but don't recommend eating in that portion of you want to have dinner conversation - too loud). Love the old school relish plate! Good brandy old fashions. We were just here this past Saturday night and we had our regular favorites - hubs had the prime rib and I had the peel and eat shrimp dinner. Our kids split a cheeseburger - which was huge. One major tip (especially if you are going in a large group, or with kids - and/or don't like to wait)... Friday night fish-fry (Cod, locally caught catfish - note, locally "caught" is what they used to call "locally sourced") - excellent. Vegetable platter with raw, whole scallions and whole radishes - excellent (the Californian with me had never seen these vegetables served like that). The place is small and gets very busy very fast, that being said it's a wonderful family environment just off the bar in the dining area. Me and the Mrs. had the all you can eat fried and battered cod and the kids both had chicken strips. My eldest daughter said there was nothing special about the chicken strips and after tasting the cod vowed to never again order anything else. Which is especially curious because she normally doesn't like fish. If you want a true all American fish fry, with down home lightly battered flaky fish that falls apart on your fork, this place is near perfection. Not formal, no reservations, great service. As locals, we eat here on a pretty regular basis. The crowd in the summer doesn't bother us as we just plan to enjoy a cocktail on the patio before dinner. Sometimes when there isn't a crowd, we still have a cocktail on the patio first anyways!! In my opinion, this is the best place to grab dinner in the area - and at the best prices too. Our favorites: white cheese curds, fish fry (get the half and half - with half broiled half beer battered), taco salad, prime rib, peel and eat shrimp (with Cajun rub - and for an extra dollar they'll peel your shrimp for you so you don't get smelly fingers!), burgers and chicken strips, spaghetti (Tuesday's only) - basically the majority of the items on the menu are great. Having eaten here probably around a hundred times, I cannot say I've had one single bad meal - that's pretty amazing!!! read more

We were staying at the Comfort Suites and wanted a good fish fry we were led here. It reminded us of our hometown bars!
