The room was good, clean and quiet. It had a separate bathroom for the toilet and the shower which is handy in some ways (if people want to use both) but the door to the toilet is semi-transparent so you can't see anything but the light shines through if one of you needs to use it in the middle of the night. There is a pool, but the water was freezing and a gym with water which was too hot to drink. So overall water could be more aligned with general enjoyment. Breakfast was included which was nice, but I've seen better options at other Marriott properties. So overall, this place was decent, but it had some things lacking that made it only okay. read more

Spent 1 night here for my trip to Howe Caverns. This is an easy place to find, right off I-87. My rewards reservation was handles at the front desk quickly. I got to my suite and found what appeared to be a large, clean and well appointed room. I then noticed that the couch was in disrepair, although I did see a sign in the lobby at check-out saying that they were going to start renovations next month. The night was uneventful. The bed was comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. The next morning, I went to the free breakfast. They had fewer choices than most hotels offering free morning eats. I had a plate of scrambled eggs, once again disappointed by them not offering breakfast potatoes. The biggest problem wasn't discovered until I tried to brush my teeth after breakfast. They have 2 sinks, one in the bathroom where the toilet is, the other in the room where the shower is. I used the one where the shower is for the 1st time after showering. I discovered water rising quickly in the sink. I tried the handle to open the drain. It didn't work. I let them know before I checked out. Not sure if I would stay here again. read more

I stay at Marriott Brand hotels every opportunity I get and usually they are pretty decent. I recently stayed at one in the Albany region, since my home had some repair work for a few days, which I needed to be away from. Luckily I had plenty of points from all my travels and found this one for only 13,000 points a night, which is a great deal. I was even excited that they gave me an extra day free after the third day. So, why not. Plus it was in a convenient area and close to work. Well, this wasn't one of the best SpringHill Suites, I'd say for sure. Where should I start, well, the breakfast is always nice, but when you don't have any cream for your coffee other than the sweetened kind, and the only milk available is low fat, well then Frank continues to be grumpy in the morning having to drink black coffee. The room was fine, but the sofas had horrible stains on them, and the owner or manager gave me the reason, which was acceptable, but still weird. The rooms were old, from probably a previous hotel that Marriott did an Ok job with paint, but the lamp did not work. I tried to turn it on, and nothing. So, I went back to my desk and continued working, to then smell something burning and then the lamp shade fell. I immediately unplugged the lamp and chuckled since it was late. I explained it to them in the morning and to my amazement, it was fixed. About the only positives were the maid services. They did an amazing job of changing the sheets in the bed, and fresh towels. The ice maker on the floor was a plus and it was a monster, making ice non stop. Note, to people wanting to stay here, do not stay close to the ice maker that is by the elevator, because it is loud. Lastly, the shower was really nice. Water pressure was strong, and lots of hot water. That was probably my most enjoyable part of the stay here. I do recommend this hotel, since they finally did get real half and half cream by the third day, but don't expect much. read more

I am so disgusted by this hotel. I've never in my life stayed at a Marriot as horrible as this one. I booked 2 Suites, and my best friend booked 2 Suites as well. We had a total of 4 Suites for my wedding day as a place to get dressed, sleep and change there as it was close to the venue. First night during check in I notice bleach stains on the carpet floors and couches which had me concern they would charge us for damage. They said it was ok. I thought it was uncleanly but really wasn't bothered about it. Later that night we took showers to get ready for our big day the following day, the tub clogged up and we needed this to be fixed as we were a party of 5. We went downstairs spoke with a lovely lady from the front desk and she accommodated us with a free room with a check out time of 2PM as it was now 2 in the morning, and all had to be up early to get ready for the wedding. The following day 11AM the rudest man I have ever talked to busted in the room that was given to us with maintenance and told my bridesmaid "You need to get out they shouldn't be there" I've never in my life heard of this. Not only did he not communicate with the night shift to find out why she was there but called my room phone yelling at me that he was going to charge the room. I went downstairs with my best friend to see what went wrong. and he continue to cut us off tell us that we were rude and implied that I called him racist. Not only did this anger and upset me on my wedding day but to make matters worse I'm 7 months pregnant being yelled at by a man who claimed he was the manager and wasn't even the manager. It was really one of the worst moments I've ever experienced. Another nice lady jumped into the convo to get things rectified and apologized for his actions. What was good would be a shorter write up. The room was not cleaned to the Marriot standard. There was a horse fly in my room. I also found a bug that I did not recognize in my bed. Here is the worst part: the fire alarm went off at 3:30am. All of the guests gathered in the lobby. Hotel management never said anything to inform the guests about what what was happening. The hotel manager did not have the key to the alarm panel which frustrated the firemen. It took two hours to locate the alarm panel key and the alarm finally went off at 5:21am. We endured the ringing sound for two hours. I had a major headache and I lost two hours of sleep. This was a horrible experience!!!! read more

Stayed 5 nights. The room was clean and. Comfortable. The standup tile shower was immaculate and one of the best shower I've seen. My room included a couch and a desk that divides the room between the "living room" and the bed. The TV was situated where it could be turned for viewing from either the bed or couch. They offered a full breakfast of eggs and sausage and ham on alternating days. Fresh coffee and juices as well as an assortment of fruits, cereals, and yogurt. Very nice and will return. read more

This hotel is beautiful!!!! The room I was in was so spacious. The toilet and the tub were separated in two different sections. We had a king size bed, a sofa and a office space that included a table and a office chair. Room was clean !!! Bed was extremely comfy!! The hotel have an indoor pool and a gym. The also include free breakfast (Waffle machine, with the choice of whipped cream, banana, Nutella and syrup as toppings. You can also eat eggs with salsa and your choice of cheese. You can customize your oatmeal, toast, eat yogurt, serve yourself a bowl of cereal with lean crunch, fruit loops, delicious granola or Honey Nut Cheerios). Staff were friendly and welcoming! He finally decided to come out and check us in. He wasn't friendly and made me feel like we were bothering him. As he handed me the keys he barely held them over the counter. He made me reach over toward him. He didn't tell us about breakfast or anything else. The room was dirty with stains on the bathroom walls. The tv sits way over near the door as our bed faced the bathroom. There's only one nightstand so the other side of the bed has nothing. Not impressed with this Marriott at all. read more

We had reservations that were booked through Expedia, once we arrived we were told that they overbooked and our rooms were canceled. The lady on the phone said too bad you booked through a third party so I can't help and was quite horrible to talk to. I had previously called two hours prior to arrival and they did not say anything about it being canceled. Just told us when we arrived. I would definitely recommend staying someplace else or getting a new front desk person. Never again will I ever attempt to stay here. read more

Definitely within my Top 5 Stays! My stay at Springhill Suites has been one of the best experiences ever! The facilities are warm, welcoming, clean and tastefully decorated. The staff were remarkable w customer service prior to me arriving via telephone and after I arrived from check-in to check-out. I would love to personally thank every employee who assisted in any way even if it was w a kind smile during my stay but it was honestly too many to name! Every single staff member who worked from 5/26/17-5/28/17 contributed to my fantastic memory of Springhill Suites. The breakfast is very good and has a lot of variety for everyone. The staff members constantly refilled/ restocked each and every food item, condiment and beverage in a non invasive way where they were never in the way but the task was always completed. Spacious and safe parking lot and accessibility to several restaurants as well as a mall less than 2 miles away. My weekend was so full that I did not get to enjoy the pool and gym the way I wanted but I peeked in and the amenities looked fun and safe. I did utilize the business area to conduct light business and it was perfect w high speed internet, a clean surface to work from and plenty of writing utensils/ paper. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family for it's value, comfort and customer service. When you go to a telly you wanna feel comfortable right? It's supposed to be (almost) as comfortable as your own place..... minus a few details. This place hits the mark. The staff is prompt and professional, the location is ALWAYS clean, rooms are spotless, and did I mention the breakfast? Bruh! That oatmeal is worth it!!! There's a sweet lady (caucasian) who makes it....if you see her around, you know you'll be happy. My only issue is with parking as this establishment tends to be packed whenever I visit. Cozy, comfortable and relaxing stay! The Spring Hill Suites by Marriott is clean and affordable with the comfort and quality one would expect from the Marriott brand. As a party of five we stayed in a suite with two queen sized beds, a seating area with a pull-out couch, a sink with dressing area, separate tub and toilet room, well lit desk space and a kitchenette featuring a microwave, coffee maker, mini fridge and small sink. The room furnishings are modern and well kept, clean and comfortable. Our room also features a flat screen television, free high speed WiFi and an alarm clock with a phone charger. * edit: I forgot to mention the free Paul Mitchell shampoos and conditioners that came with our room, and the amazing water pressure of our shower. I didn't want to get out of the shower because it was so hot and relaxing! The lobby is clean and cozy with a fireplace, several seating options and a counterspace for making coffee, tea and hot chocolate which are complimentary and available at all times. There is also a complimentary breakfast served mornings with a variety of options and very fresh tasting selections. The fitness area is small yet functional featuring some cardio equipment and a weight lifting machine, the swimming pool is also small but it is indoors and heated for a relaxing dip at any time of the year. Any staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful, mindful of guests and had very welcoming attitudes. The Wife and I stayed here for one night during a long road trip. This is a really nice hotel. The room was clean and well laid out. Quiet too! The staff was great and the free breakfast was good, with lots to choose from. The hotel is not in the most scenic location, but it is very convenient to the highway and there are a ton of dining options nearby. A few minor niggles: The bathrooms in the rooms are separated by a translucent door, so privacy is not an option while doing your "business". People outside can hear everything. Better be comfortable with the folks you stay with! Also, the pool is a joke. It is the size of a casserole dish, and late at night didn't look too clean. It might be okay for little kids to splash about in and let off some steam, but it's useless for adults. Overall, a nice place, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

Ironic that one of the nicest "suite" hotels I've stayed in offers rooms that are not actually suites. Our room was divided into zones, with the desk, and the tall unit built around it, serving as a room divider. That was fine for us, but it might be a disappointment for someone expecting a separate bedroom. But many positives outweigh that bit of false advertising. * Location is right off 87, next to a decent mall. * Service is amazing, from the super-friendly folks at the front desk to the patient maintenance guy who fixed the TV remote we somehow screwed up. * The breakfast is fab: hot, fresh, and tasty. Eggs, oatmeal with all the fixings, waffle iron that actually made great waffles, peach compote topping. And good coffee. * Nice design of rooms and common spaces. Lots of room... it's not your typical cramped hotel room. - Service was really nice. I actually took a red eye into Albany and got in at 9am. They let me check in at 10am with no problem. - One day, I went into the lobby and they had fresh warm cookies... so yummy! My family and I stayed at this hotel when we attended commencements a few weeks ago. I was surprised by the rudeness and indifference exhibited by the front desk clerk. We had requested 2 rooms. I reminded him of that and asked him the keys for both rooms when checking in. After he checked us in he gave me 2 keys. I repeated "We have 2 rooms right?", he said yes; so we headed up to the rooms. When we got upstairs I realized he had given me keys for only 1 room. I went downstairs to ask him if he had forgotten to give me all the room keys. He yelled at me saying, "I was about to give you the key when you walked off". After reminding him that we had requested 2 rooms many times, he tried to blame me for his mistake. I of course got upset as I was already tired from the travel and told my family we needed to leave the hotel to find another place to stay, but most of the hotels in town were booked so we stayed but avoided the rude desk clerk. During our 2 day stay, We encountered other staff members that were nice, but like they say, 1 bad apple spoils the whole bunch, and for that reason I give one star, and will not stay at Springhill suites if I ever go back to Albany. read more

Good location, lots of restaurants and shopping close by, including a Trader Joes if you want to take advantage of that fridge of yours. Staff was great. Breakfast lacked bacon which broke my heart. I'll start with the positives: The room was very quiet, modern, spacious, and comfortable. They also offer free WiFi throughout the hotel and free breakfast (hot and cold) in the morning. In addition, 24 hour fitness center and swimming pool. The hotel is located close to many restaurants and shops, including the Colonie mall and Crossgates mall. It's also located off of the highway, and is convenient for an overnight stop on a road trip (as in my case). I enjoyed the large TV with many channels, as well. The price was also very reasonable: Only $76.00. Now for the bad: The front desk staff is unfriendly, and not particularly helpful or courteous. When I checked out the next morning, the front desk attendant was in the back, eating. He acted like I was bothering him when I asked to check out. The night desk attendant when I checked in was also a bit short with me, and not friendly. The swimming pool is TINY! I didn't use it, but it was laughable how small it was. The bed was very hard.. I didn't sleep well because of it (I had a king bed/king room). The worst part was the breakfast: it wasn't fresh. Beware the orange shredded cheese (near the scrambled eggs and salsa). It had little blue fuzzy mold spots on it. I sprinkled it all over my eggs and then saw the mold, so I threw it away. Gross! The English muffins were also hard as a rock.. The food just seemed old. It grossed me out. I ended up with yogurt and oatmeal, because those seemed safe. Overall, this is a good hotel, but it needs some improvements. I have stayed in nicer SpringHill suites, for sure. read more

Don't stay here. My wife and I checked in and went to our room. Upon entering my wife noticed crumbs on the couch so she checked the room. Obviously the bathroom had not been cleaned as evidenced by the hairs in the sink. We went back to the front desk and the very nice clerk quickly offered us a new room. The 2nd room was cleaner although still showed signs of deferred maintenance as evidenced by the stains on the couch. Day 2 we were out all day and when we returned found that the room had not been cleaned. Complained and ask to speak to the manager. Told that the manager was on the phone but she would give me a call. It's now 3 hours latter and the manager has still not called. DO STAY HERE. read more

I have stayed here about 4 or 5 times over the past few years. The hotel is nice as you would expect and has the typical breakfast you would expect. The rooms are nice, large and comfortable. There were two little disappointments. In the pictures of the hotel, it looks like there is a hot tub in the pool area, but it's not really a hot tub. It is just a round area next to the pool that actually looks like it was designed to look like a hot tub for pictures, but does not seem to have any actual functional use. The other disappointment is that over the last couple of years, it seems to me that this hotel is beginning to show some age already. My thinking is that the location and reasonable price of this hotel might cause it to go downhill a bit quicker than other hotels. So... even though it is great in the summer of 2011, I would not be surprised if within a few years it was really showing it's age. read more

Great hotel. We were meeting with our aunt and uncle, and the purpose of our hotel stay was for the four of us to visit. Albany is about half way between where we each live, so what I'm saying is that we stayed here for three days with the intention of spending most of our time inside the hotel. And it worked! Propos to Marriott for this great find! Price-wise, be sure to use the AAA card if you have one. (If you don't have an AAA card, by all means get one!) The AAA rate was cheaper than priceline, hotels.com, and a few others I scoped out. You should probably have AAA anyway. If you stay at a hotel even once a year you'll recover your AAA membership fee, and it's handy to be able to know that a tow truck will come get you if you need it. But I digress. I wish I could give 4.5 stars because I truly appreciated most everything about the hotel. Staff were courteous. Rooms were clean. Front lobby sitting area was comfortable (seriously, we sat around for hours visiting with family and it didn't get old!) There was always hot water for tea and hot cocoa, as well as coffee, available to have as you wish in the lobby area. Nice touch for our cold December stay! Wifi was free and actually worked which, if you travel much, you know is not common whether it's free or costly. The complimentary breakfast is a really great deal. It wasn't just the here-are-the-danishes=and-coffee kind of "breakfast" but a rather wide variety of foods. Let me test my memory on this...: cereal, milk, fruits, bagels, cream cheese, bread, jelly, scrambled eggs, sausage, *waffle iron*, juices, coffee, tea, danishes, muffins... Here is the only reason I can't give five stars: The bathroom layout in the hotel rooms themselves is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. You'll have to see the photos on their website to get a sense of the layout of the room in general, because it's unusual with a sort of pseudo divided between a couch/coffee table area, and the bed/dresser area. Those two doors toward the foot of the bed lead into the two halves of the bathroom. They have it divided so in one space is the shower and a sink, and in the other is a toilet and a sink. Sounds fine. It is NOT fine. The doors are frosted glass pocket doors. Let me give a visual: Let's say you need to use the toilet. This will probably happen at some point if you're staying in a hotel. You step into the half bath where the toilet and small sink are. It's tight but okay. Turn on the light. You slide the frosted glass pocket door closed and while you're unbuckling your pants you glance to your left (or right, if you'd standing up for this) and realize that with the light inside the bathroom and a frosted glass door, your silhouette shadow is right there for anyone in the couch or bed area to see! It's so weird! This is not to mention that a glass sliding pocket door gives about as much sound privacy as a vinyl shower curtain, so... long story short, we literally used the main lobby bathrooms whenever possible. I've stayed in a lot of hotels over the years, and bathrooms can sometimes be an issue simply because it's a small hotel room, but this does take the cake for the most brutally awkward bathroom I've ever even heard of. Please don't let that deter you from enjoying an otherwise pleasantly priced accommodation in the Albany area. You will probably want to employ a strategy to deal with the bathroom weirdness, but enjoy the rest of a great value. Peace! read more

This is our second time at this facility (going to and from the east coast to the mid-west). The room design this time is totally stupid (only one side of the bed has a night stand) and there is a huge area to the same side of the king size bed with absolutely no furnishings! Totally stupid. But the worst - absolute WORST problem is the room stinks as if smokers smoked in the room even though it is a non smoking room. This was the same problem with our first stay in this hotel. We will not stay here again and I suggest you not stay here as well..... unless of course you like the smell of stale smoke in your bedroom and too few furnishings, in which case go for it! read more
