Sausage and egg muffin for breakfast is my favorite! Nice quiet hotel, friendly staff, rooms are modern and clean.

I won't split hairs: this hotel is woefully below the standards I've come to expect in a SpringHill Suites. Respectfully, if the hotel industry weren't as challenged as it is right now due to COVID, I'd have requested my reservation be cancelled due to how wildly deceptive the modern-looking photos on their website depict this hotel and how drastically tired it is in person, despite an apparent renovation to [just barely] bring it up to the newer SpringHill brand language. The front desk agent was friendly enough and I appreciated the mobile check-in ability, but that's about where modernity ends here: the popcorn ceiling and textured walls harken to an airport Ramada of day's gone by, the single elevator was so slow it was just easier to take the stairs, and the breakfast area is far too small to support the size of the hotel, which at present, doesn't matter- they're still not offering breakfast (just grab and go). The pool and fitness center must be reserved in 45 minute increments, as well. While I appreciate the abundance of caution, it is frustrating that these limitations (which are quite inconsistent from hotel-to-hotel) were not called out on their website almost a year into the pandemic. The two double bed suite was an awkward layout. More than two people would be very uncomfortable in here for a stay more than one night (there's also basically no storage). While the living room is large with a nice wet bar and mini kitchen, the one TV straddling the two rooms was a shoddy choice when most SpringHill have one in each room. There are also exactly zero outlets available on or behind the nightstand. Pullout sofabed (trundle style) was also something I've not seen before. Props for the uniqueness (and it was West Elm!) The bathroom fan was louder than an airplane taking off (and was caked in dust), there were odd stains behind the toilet, and the ceiling tile in the hallway is a clear indicator that this hotel was flipped on the cheap. While I have no doubt the staff makes the most of the property and I had a pleasant experience with everyone, the actual reality of this hotel relative to photos online feels very much like a bait and switch. I realize this might be overly harsh: the beds were comfortable, the hotel was clean, and it's not a "bad" hotel, but it's also not structurally where it needs to be for this brand. Spend a little more money and stay somewhere else. read more

This is a hotel that appears to be mid-way through a facelift. Based on the older Yelp pictures this place has undergone renovations on both the outside and inside of the hotel. They were redoing the parking lot when I was in town so that should be nice going forward. The staff was very friendly and helpful when needed. My room was in pretty good shape and was quite spacious. It had the standard Springhill Suites touches, but some items were old and worn. The remote looked like it was from the 1970s and was sticky so I didn't watch too much tv. The wifi was pretty weak and I had to use my iPhone to get online. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice. The lights are kind of tricky for some reason - just the layout of where the switches are didn't really make sense. Also, the small fridge didn't really keep cool. I had to toss some leftovers the next morning since they were just a little cold. I will try this place again if the downtown hotels are booked up. read more

I read reviews about Spring Hill Marriott Suites that we're SO INACCURATE... Normally we stay at JW MARRIOTT in Grand Rapids...but after snooping around at reviews for perhaps something less expensive...we came across this particular hotel We were SO DUPED...the reviews said clean..up to date... couldn't be further from the truth The antiquated heating had loose parts laying next to the unit...hard to figure out WHICH heating system to use..one on the wall..one by the window The refrigerator had stains like something dropped in their and wasn't cleaned...the ice maker on the first floor had BLACK dirty ice in it Also...garbage bags left in hallway The excercise room had a water cooler of EMPTY water in it When Karen showed me the excercise room the night before she noticed the water was empty and said "we'll have to replace it"... But when we returned to excercise in the morn it was still empty Stains on the floor in the elevator...we noticed that Ryan was just sitting behind the front desk and not cleaning/sanitizing We were extremely upset about the reviews we had read..couldn't have been further from the truth read more

Very disappointed in this place. Have stayed here in the past. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This time not so much. The regular desk clerk was talked over by a supervisor so the quality of check in was severely lacking. The room reeked of mildew and was not available for an early check in even though the parking lot was barren of cars one hour earlier than check-in. Then we get to breakfast. I may sound heartless but if I'm paying over $100 a night for my room there should be sufficient breakfast provided. I wasn't aware my fees covered indigent families meals. Not just one or two people but families. Not sure we will stay here next time. read more

Beautiful hotel with a cute pool. But let's talk about the breakfast: very healthy!!! Oatmeal, whole wheat products, SOY MILK!!!, and Kashi cereal. The hotel rooms and lobby have recently been renovated. I did find the bed and pillows a little uncomfortable which isn't my normal Marriott experience. Also the sheets kept sliding off the bed. I could also hear my neighbors going in and out of their room and the kids across the hall. I slept with the AC and bathroom fan running to help with the noise. I had a king size suite which was definitely spacious since I was by myself. It had a sleeper sofa, desk and skin in a seating area separate from the bed. 24 hour fitness center and pool are available. I'd give it a 4.5 stars for staff, 3 for uncomfortable bed and pillows. 4.5 stars for free breakfast which included healthy items. 1 for the two dead bugs next to my bed which immediately made me concerned about bed bugs so I inspected the mattress. Not my favorite Marriott but the rate was great so if it was the only affordable Marriott I'd stay again. read more

One of the better Marriot's I stay in! The rooms are clean and the layouts are nice for extended stays. As I'm here all the time, it's one of my favorite things. The location is nice, right off of 131 and 96 with plenty of restaurants and stores in the area and only 10 minutes (depending on traffic) from downtown Grand Rapids. When in Grand Rapids, this is usually where I stay. It's clean, the staff is friendly, and it's located right off 131 and 96... so there's lots of restaurants, and it is easy access to downtown Grand Rapids. read more

So like most Marriott hotel chains this one is a nice place to stay. It is clean, updated, and the staff is very courdious and polite. The hotel has a small market (no alcohol at this one though) where you can buy snacks or small meals. The breakfast buffet is average, serving up scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon and the assortment of cereals, pastries, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit and hard boiled eggs. The pool is nice and convent and the gym has enough equipment for up to 3 people to exercise comfortably. 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical and a couple free weights. It would be nice to see more but it works. The rooms are clean and the layouts are nice for extended stays. My only gripe is that you have a kitchenette with a sink, mini fridge and microwave and inside the cabinets are 2 paper plates and 2 plastic utensil packages. no paper towels, no soap to clean anything i might have brought. It would be nice to have at least that for people that bring their own things in. The location is nice, right off of 131 and 96 with plenty of restaurants and stores in the area and only 10 minutes (depending on traffic) from downtown Grand Rapids. read more

If you want bed bugs, stay here. We stayed here July 2021. The room was not very clean. There was mildew in the bathroom, the fridge was filthy. We checked the bed beforehand and didn't spot any bugs, but two weeks after leaving we now have them in our bed at home. My guess is they were in the headboard, nightstand, maybe even the dresser drawers, or closet and we didn't look thoroughly enough. Now we're dealing with a nightmare at home. read more

This could of been a 5 star property. But the major problem is the thermostat in the room, is located behind a bolted down TV. How is one to make any changes to it. You can't see it. Traveling sports teams take up the slack at the hotels on the weekend, so it's loaded with kids. read more

I stay here 2-3 times a year when I travel to Grand Rapids on business and in their hotel category (3 stars) I don't think you can do much better. The staff here is excellent - they are very helpful, friendly, and accomodating. The rooms are great. Everything looks like it has been recently updated. They're always clean, they're very spacious with living rooms, desks, and a small kichenette area (refrigerator, sink, microwave), and the bed is comfortable. The breakfast could definitely be better, but I've almost never had a good breakfast at any of these places. They also have a small gym and pool, which is nice if you're not trying to leave your hotel (which I'm usually not - it's too cold for me out there). Overall, I happily stay here whenever I have to travel to GR. Tip: If you're here on business to call on Meijer ask them for the vendor rate - I believe it's usually about $110/night. read more

Whether you ar on a business trip or displaced by a fire like we were, Springhill Suites is a good place to stay. Located behind Kohls and Burlington Coat Factory and next to Hampton Inn, Springhill has very friendly workers with a newer and updated feel. They have laundry facility, pool, workout room and meeting rooms. We came here Monday night after having a house fire on Sunday night. Each room has a couch, 2 small tables which can be separated and used as trays, desk with rollie chair, mini fridge, microwave, 2 sinks, iPod speaker/alarm clock, HD Tv with cable and bed and bath. It's quite spacious and has a small wall separating the bed from sitting area. They have breakfast every morning, but they always have the same stuff which is very boring. They do keep their coffee pots out all day for easy pick me ups. read more

Well, I can hear my neighbors bodily functions as I am writing this review. I can also hear the people above me walking across the room. I can hear everything from everyone above me and around me including people going to the bathroom and flushing the toilet. My neighbors are not being disrespectful, they are going through their regular routines. These rooms aren't very sound proof. Very disappointed for the price I paid. read more

Beds are super UNCOMFORTABLE and small. The pool isn't that big. There is blood on the wall in our bathroom. Couch and pillows are stiff. And I have experienced way better. I don't wanna come here again. The only thing I like are the mirrors in the bathroom that isn't even together! read more

My first experience staying at this hotel was okay. Pros: The hotel itself and its amenities were nice- it looks like a relatively newer hotel. All the staff that I interacted with were pleasant and friendly. The breakfast bar was better than most I've seen- nice selection of items and everything was refilled/cleaned periodically-definitely impressed there! I also liked that they had a "convenience" store near the front desk- very helpful. Cons: When we first got to the room, I noticed that there were a couple dried urine spots on the edge of the toilet seat and a stain on the bottom of the tub that was a hue of red. Then when I went to put my suitcase down I noticed a blood stain on the side of the bed- it was easily visible so I'm not sure how housekeeping missed it.The window curtains also had some staining on them. Our room was on the end of the building and was right next to an entrance/exit door; the door closer that was installed on the top of the door wasn't working properly. It either hadn't been installed correctly or it needed to be adjusted- the door was slamming on the door frame each time someone went in and out. Needless to say, staying asleep was difficult. We stayed in the King suite with whirlpool and paid a little over $200 a night, so I guess I had higher expectations for the room. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to go back. read more

I arrived by bicycle, and called ahead to let the desk know that, and that I'd be checking in late. Initially they said they didn't have a 1st floor room available, but when I checked in, they found one for me! Very accommodating! Excellent room with nice furniture. Breakfast was very good with eggs, sausage, waffles, and muffins - English, and otherwise - as well. The service was a big deal though. They were very courteous, helpful, and friendly. The location is very convenient shopping and not as far from downtown as it might first appear. I will stay here again! read more

Stayed at this hotel to be close to St. Mary's Hospital because of a 6:30 a.m. test. It was newly renovated and very nice. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautiful and it was one of the cleanest rooms I have stayed in this year and we stay frequently. I was really impressed with the heating system because the fan was so quiet! Usually in a hotel, I have to turn heat way down because fan makes it too noisy to sleep. There also was no highway noise, but very easy in the morning to get on the highway. The SpringHill North has recently been remodeled and looks very good. Rooms are clean and service is very good. Only complaint is this hotel does not have movie channels. No HBO or Showtime. This is a first for a Marriott property for me. read more

The customer service at this hotel is horrible and callous. On October 8 my wife and I used Booking.com to make reservations for two nights (October 12-13) at SpringHill Suites so we could visit a terminally ill friend one final time. Unfortunately his condition worsened and he was placed in a Hospice program, no longer able to have visitors. As soon as we received this information we contacted the hotel to cancel our reservation. This phone call was made 31 hours before our scheduled check in time. We were told by the hotel staff that because we made the reservations through Booking.com we would need to cancel through them, which we immediately did. The morning of October 12 we contacted the hotel to confirm that they had received the cancellation. At that time they claimed they had not received the cancellation notification. There is no way for us to confirm the truth in that statement. When we tried to explain the situation we were given a stern "Policy is policy. No exceptions" and were informed we would be charged a $149 cancellation fee. No sympathy, no empathy, no nothing other than the "Policy is policy" statement. It is our opinion that this decision by SpringHill Suites was purely money driven because A) We find it highly unlikely that they were fully booked for those nights, and B) If they were fully booked they had 31 hours to resell our room. At this time we do not recommend reserving a room at SpringHill Suites, unless you are willing to be charged for unforeseen circumstances. read more

A good clean hotel, relatively new, with a good location. Lots of restaurants, etc. nearby. This is our second stay in a SpringHill Suites and, while we liked both, I think that the word "suite" is applied loosely here. It's really more like a slightly larger room with a basic kitchenette (small sink, small refrigerator, and a microwave oven). Don't get me wrong--it's a fine hotel, but it's not like a Residence Inn or similar property where you have more than one room in your suite. A fine place to stay. read more

Bought thus room through an express deal on priceline for only $100. The room was clean, really nice vaulted ceilings, and tons of space. The room also had a balcony which was a great bonus. Housekeeping did not do a good job cleaning room 325. We stayed here for two nights on January 31, 2014. After returning from a day of activities on Saturday night our room was cleaned but NOT really. The toilet was not flushed and had pee stains from my little boys. The bed was made but the sheets were not changed after my son had a bloody nose. It left me to wonder how clean the room was when we checked in on Friday night. We are marriott platinum members and very disappointed by our experience. read more

Front desk staff was no help - you HAVE to check out, we need your room. No offer to find another property, despite being a lifetime Marriott Platinum member. We stay here every couple months when traveling from Detroit to visit my in-laws. Great place to stay! It's clean, updated, the decor is nice, the oool is awesome, and staff is always super friendly and helpful. Their breakfast knocks the socks off any orher "free" hotel breakfast I've ever had. Oatmeal, cereal, juice, bagels, muffins, WAFFLE MAKER!! We always enjoy ourselves when staying here. Definitely recommed! read more
