Comfortable hotel with good service. Continental Breakfast needs work however. When I lived in Latrobe back in the 90's, this was a very nice hotel with a great view of the Chestnut Range to the east. Apparently fell on hard times with a fire in the older section since demolished and economic hard times in 2009, the previous owners were forced to sell. Previously called Mountain View Inn, was reopened under new owners at the Inn at Mountainview around 2010. It's still a very nice hotel with very large expansive rooms that were very comfortable. Rooms included a refrigerator, microwave, free Wifi and a large listing on cable with excellent wide screen TV. Service is excellent and there is a business center just off of the lobby. Only complaint was the complimentary continental breakfast which was meager at best but then again, I've found very few complimentary breakfast at any hotel than amounted to anything unless they had a full service restaurant as part of the restaurant. As far as value, it's definitely worth it. Used to be priced at the high end but new owners have priced it competitively and now it falls into the mid-tier range and as such, would highly recommend. read more

The bright spot was the cute lady working check in with the toddler. In the end we get what we pay for in life. If you cheap out, you end up in a dump like this. The dirtiest hotel I have ever been too! I feel the health department needs to go to explore the property inside and out. Dirty bedding, walls elevator and never heard them vaccuming in the few days we stayed there. Cigarette butts everywhere and grass for dogs was over grown with no lighting anywhere! If I could write zero stars I would. After a long day a work I was walking around the hotel. Someone at the front desk just kept staring at me and following me. I asked him if there was something I needed and asked me if I'm staying here and then proceeded to ask me what room number didn't feel right to me. This hotel ripped us off. We made a reservation last Thanksgiving for three days and had to change the reservation for two days. They told us that we had to cancel the old reservation and make a new one. They ended up charging (overcharging us) for both. I tried to work it out with the manager, but they said I had to talk to the online booking agent, which I couldn't get ahold of. As a result, I got over charged by $200. They hotel wouldn't reimburse me, even though we only stayed there for two nights. While we were there, we didn't have enough towels, and when we asked for them, they never gave them to us. 1st: Called what I thought was their front desk to make a reservation. This was actually a reservation service (HotelPlanner) that while efficient in making our reservation, did not disclose the $15 fee per room (2 rooms) for doing so. 2nd: Upon entering our room I noticed that the toilet looked dirty. When I flushed I was disgusted by the clog and the excrement. I quickly requested another room which they accommodated us with. 3rd: The other room had a heater that worked intermittently, and had no spare blankets. 4th: The bathroom sink in our room was wonderful and provided us with hot water on demand. Unfortunately, the shower was not on the same set-up, and the water temp was at best 98.6 degrees. Same with the other room. And it did not matter what time of day. Water was luke warm throughout. 5th: The room above us had an occupant with a dog. The first night we were awakened at 5:15 AM by the dog barking and dragging something (? his crate) across the room. I will complement the mgmt in that they did discount our rooms by about $60 total after we shared our experience. And given that IHG Hotels were charging $180/night, I think next time I'll try Air B&B. read more

My room is lovely, the AC works great, but I could not be more disappointed in the service. There was a dog barking in the room above me until midnight. When I called the front desk about it, they said the long-term resident who lives there has a dog and must not be home. The barking continued for nearly two hours - two nights in a row; that poor dog sounded miserable and everyone I spoke with missed sleep because of the incessant noise. I traveled 2000 miles to present at a conference and couldn't get any rest. I wouldn't encourage anyone to stay here if they need peace and quiet. read more

The Inn at Mountain View is a... special kind of place to fill a special kind of desperation in your life. During your stay, you will experience: 1. The smell of 100 dogs who have been sprayed down with atomized Pert Plus to cover the smell. Seriously, that smell will haunt my dreams for years to come. 2. A single, rickety elevator evocative of family trips to ride the Tower of Terror. 3. The simultaneous barking of 3-50 dogs, echoing through the paper thin walls and hallways, depending on how (un) lucky you are with where they place you. If you're bringing some kind of pet... it too will enjoy this feature, and maybe contribute to it! 4. Bathrooms from the 1970s with authentic-to-period grime! Mine was 3 different shades of green: avocado, baby puke, and pea. There were visible steaks on the floor from poor cleaning, but lighting is so awful, it didn't photograph well. 5. Absolutely no overhead lights in your room, and terrible table top lamps in a couple spots. No charging spots for phones! Maybe this actually IS 1970. 6. A drive up a terrifying road that I would not want to travel in winter that, at times, will convince you you are driving to an axe murderer's trailer. Hang in there, civilization lies at the top. 7. A drive back down that road if you want to eat something that isn't delivery pizza 8. Neighbors stuffing towels under their doors... maybe to muffle dog noises, or maybe to muffle the screams of their victims? Who can say 9. The real piéce de resistance: the world's cheapest and least comfortable mattress, bedecked with thin and unsupportive pillows! As a bonus, my room featured boogers still affixed to the wall from a previous occupant's stay Room fridge exists; mine had stuff from previous occupant in it, and it's on the floor. Nothing in the room was centered... bed, art, mirrors, world's smallest tv, nothing. But hey. They have "egg patties" and weird sausage for breakfast, so... what's not to love! My favorite parts were free parking, and leaving. I also didn't get murdered, and very much enjoyed that. My back hurt for 3 days. Don't do it, man. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here over the weekend we got a suite and let me just say the room was amazing.. The staff was very nice.. our first night there we thought our fridge wasn't working so we called down to the desk and they sent someone up to check it he said if it didnt work within the next hour that he would personally bring us up a new fridge... let's just say the fridge did start to work but that was very nice of them to say that and to come look at it for us... if your looking for a nice place to stay I definitely recommend this place the prices were great, the staff was great, and it's close to restaurants and shopping plazas... read more

Great place! We stay there regularly when we are in town visiting family. The owners and staff are extraordinary! Helpful, nice, friendly and they remember their guests and greet them each day. The rooms are huge and completely remodeled, very very nice and clean. It would be great to have drawers, but we tend to stay awhile so probably most guests don't need them. A solid clean straightforward hotel with nice views of a mountainside right off a highway. Setting is nice and staff were efficient and pleasant. Parking was convenient. The complimentary hot breakfast was also pretty good. The place really shined in its dog friendliness. In the third floor was a mini dog park that was enclosed and clean. 5 STARS! I stayed at 2 other hotels closer to the casino. Firstly I'll never stay at the Hampton again and that's all I'll say on that. That said, if you happen have an intrigue with the inner dynamics of the semi permanent clienteles propensity to engage in all manor of very loud confrontations in the hallways between 1 and 4am, (like I experienced both nights of my stay), well... enjoy your stay at the hotel directly across from the casino and its proximity! The Inn at Mountainview is Clean!!, QUIET!!, Modern!!, Very Reasonably priced including as decent a breakfast as you'll likely find, (with a nice view), but on top of that the family and staff are nice as could be!!!! read more

And stains on the carpet. The staff again were very nice and it pains me to give them a one star. But the two open pet friendly rooms were just not acceptable. The staff did try though. Housekeeping and the owners of this hotel should be embarrassed and ashamed of the cleaning job they do. This is the dirtiest, most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed. In my entire 5 night, 6 day stay, my bathroom was NEVER cleaned, the floor was NEVER vacuumed and my bed sheets only changed ONE time - AFTER ASKING THESE THINGS BE DONE THREE times. There were other guests complaining of the SAME things. I gave this hotel a SECOND chance....but NEVER AGAIN. It is worth it to pay a little extra and stay somewhere else that actually cleans. They even had zip ties holding the curtains to the curtain rods. read more

We have stayed here several times over the years and I called the hotel on November 16, 2019, to reserve a pet friendly room for January 17 - 19, 2020. After speaking to the person who answered the phone, I gave them my credit card information to reserve a room, and shortly thereafter received an email confirmation (#17544863) confirming our reservation for two nights beginning on January 17th, 2020. On Friday, January 17th, at approximately 9:34 pm I called the Inn to let them know that we would be arriving for check in at about 10:00 pm. Imagine my surprise when I was told that there was no record of my reservation and that there were no available rooms for my husband and me. I was quite upset and am positive that I did NOT receive any phone calls or emails that informed me that our reservation had to be cancelled due to construction going on in the hotel. We were fortunate that we could stay with family, although my husband was very uncomfortable since he had to sleep on a couch that was too short for his height. On Saturday morning I stopped by the Inn at Mountain View in person and the Manager with whom I spoke, Josie Ginter, was unsympathetic and showed no remorse for what happened. She said that there was no way that I would be able to get a voucher for a free room for two nights to make up for the inconvenience we suffered, but I could email the hotel to ask. On January 26th I sent an email explaining what happened and asked for a voucher for two nights. As of February 8th I have heard nothing. By the way, we stayed at the RED ROOF INN in Greensburg on Saturday night of our weekend and it was FABULOUS!! It's been recently refurbished, was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. I am in agreement with another guest that strongly suggested that offering rooms without the adequate amount of staff to run your business is not the way to to deliver a great experience to your customers! I was quite happy with the room that we were given... Spacious and comfortable... Unfortunately, the happiness was short lived! I had to ask for the room to be cleaned... Every day! The wastebasket stayed untouched most days and we were instructed to leave it in the hallway to be emptied! Fresh linens were scarce and one night I was informed that towels were being stolen and I would have to go back to my room to trade in my used towels for new ones!! I walk with a cane so I really felt that this was ridiculous! We stayed for two weeks and not ONCE were our sheets changed! The owners are nice people, however, airplane grade breakfast, dirty rooms and terrible service will soon put them out of business. read more

Hotel was very nice and clean. Christine, at the front desk, was very friendly on the phone taking our reservations amd remembered us when we showed up at the hotel. She checked us in efficiently and courteously and provided great directions. The breakfast bar was great. It served hot and cold items to include scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits, and gravy. Waffles were available and the waffle machine was super clean. The entire breakfast area looked like a nice and open kitchen area. It was very quaint. Cereals, breads/muffins/bagels, yogurt, juice, coffee, and milk were available as well. The room itself was really nice, but the TV was old and on the fritz. We were able to watch it though with some disruptions. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were a bit flat. Perhaps a few more pillows on the bed would be helpful. The bathroom was fine. The shower had those handheld shower nozzles that also stayed in one position so you did t have to hold it. The toiletries were a very nice quality. Tissues and toilet paper were very rough. The sink nozzle sprayed everywhere so that should be cleaned out from the deposits around the nozzle. The one thing I despised about this room is the spotlight directly outside of the room shining right into the windows. The windows had room darkening shades, but the half circle transom windows above the big windows had no curtains. The light shown through the upper window so much that it might as well have been daytime at night. Christine did her best to offer solutions such as hanging towels, trying to turn off the spotlight, and changing our room. We dealt with it since we had two rooms and couldn't move both rooms. Biggest piece of advice when booking this hotel: choose an odd numbered room!!! The even numbered rooms face the spotlight. We will definitely stay here again when we come up for another hockey tournament. read more

The lobby was well lit and a friendly atmosphere. The front desk named Josie was very nice and friendly. The room was very old and not updated. The issue I had was I asked for room service, especially for the bathroom, they replaced the towels but did not clean the toilet or sink area. I alerted the front desk, I don't know her name, short blonde hair, when I told her about the bathroom she looked at me like I had two heads, she did not respond right away. She finally asked what room we were in and said she would address it. Also the floors should be replaced from the dirty carpets to tile. And there were no utensils in the room. The other issue was the last day my daughter and I wanted waffles when I asked Josie she said they were out of batter and had to wait for someone to come so she could get batter. The room was very spacious with a fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub. The bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. The breakfast was adequate. The inn had nice views but could use a little TLC... We will definitely be staying again. read more

This could be a great hotel... staff at the front desk is super nice, Josie especially but the poor girl is working crazy hours. She's there when you eat beak fast until you return to end your night. Seems like they are having difficulty getting in workers. There's another young lady that worked Kate who was charming too. The room could have been beautiful had it been clean when we arrived. The room was neat but whoever is cleaning doesn't seem to know to clean the counters or vacuum the floors. We stayed in a suite but our kitchenette has no silverware or coffee stirrers, the little fridge did not work. We had four other rooms and family members all had similar complaints. Toilets not cleaned even when asking the cleaning crew directly to do so. Our shower curtain has mold growing on it but in the cleaning crews defense you need a screw driver to take it down to wash it. Which is just poor planning. The parking is unnecessarily limited putting us in the street and in the grass a few times. There is an overflow lot around the back but someone who thinks they are a VIP has blocked it with a bucket and a sign to make it their personal parking spot rather than walking around another 50 feet. I'm just glad we didn't get towed. The front room is spacious and the morning breakfast is good. The views are nice. The bathroom have the small round toilets and the fixtures are clearly worn. It could have charm if the GM cared enough to solve the visible issues l, parking and poor cleaning services. read more

Clean spacious room with a fireplace and Jaccuzi tub. Large king size bed with plenty of pillows. Major complaint was the windows, no cover over the upper windows so the light comes blasting at an ungodly hour. Was like being in an interrogation room. There were also some minor maintenance issues, a little more attention to detail would help as we found food left in the kitchen that had expired almost 6 months ago. Overall we would stay here again just request a room on the other side of the hotel. read more

was given a room near the dog park, and the woman swore the room was not a pet room. The air conditioner actually sucks in the air around the dog park, and pushes it through the rooms. Its pretty discgusting. Staff tell us that the owners are new and don't care about customer service. They tell us the manager doesn't show up very often. I had a blue stain on my sheets and comforter. I stayed 4 days and the stain was there the whole time. I would NEVER stay again. Disgusting hotel. Breakfast is the same every day and its terrible. 1/2 used shampoo bottles in the bathroom left from previous customer. The stay say that they don't give discounts, they do nothing to try to help people. I was a vendor at a local show, and I made sure to tell the show. I wasn't alone though. read more

NOT a very pleasant experience AT ALL. got there the girl on shift was horrible not anywhere to be found thought she was a guest there she was outside smoking and looked to be dozing in and out of reality. finally after we got her to come in she says what do you want. this was about 5:30 monday night. we get to our room its disgusting. looks like they forgot to clean it before we arrived. no towels or toilet paper. bathroom was dirty and nasty mold on bathroom tub and shower looked like it hasnt been cleaned in months. when asked for house keeping i was told they are gone and there was nothing she can do about it. the place smells horrible of cleaning stuff not a nice refreshing smell at all. went back down to get towels and toilet paper the girl was no where to be found again. very run down looking and not welcoming at all. not what you want for front desk for sure. when we checked out this morning i informed the new girl at front desk she was very helpful and apologetic very nice appearance and friendly. wish she was there last night! she said she was front desk manager josie i believe is her name. great job on her! best part of whole facility was her smile. we will not be staying here again anytime soon. read more

Went to check in and the manager who was sitting with two men in suits that I believe were the owners said I had to wait...she was all alone. (Only three cars in parking lot which was probably the staff). I left and came back and a gentleman who said it was his first day tried to help me but was not trained. The previous women came to help and explained that they were going through alot of changes and to be patient. I then moved all my belongings, my two dogs....up to my room. I noticed no bedspread so I called front desk and was told that they had run out of spreads and that they don't put spreads on that floor. I then still thinking I could handle this went to put my toiletries away and discovered no towels. I again called the front desk to be asked to come get them myself. The ultimate was when I returned to bathroom, no soap and no toilet paper or Kleenex. I then went to put out my dog dishes and noticed small nat like bugs flying around and decided that this was too much to be comfortable staying. In spite of the dirty debris in the elevator, the musty smell in the room, the curtains that looked like they had been wrinkled beyond repair....i was willing to try except for the bugs. I loaded up and went to check out and was told that the entire staff had walked out the day before including the manager. Everyone was brand new and no one knew anything....so she could not figure out how to refund my money. I asked to have the owner call me and gave her my phone number. I later called back and was told that the owner had gotten my message but he would get to me on his time as he had many other properties. I have given up. I will never stay here again, nor would I suggest anyone else stay her. I would give a negative number for this review if I could. read more

We were there for two nights and stayed in their apartment which as we were told is the best room at Mountainview! It was wonderful, it was a beautiful apartment and very clean. A lovely dinning room (a nice size); a living room, an office off the living room, kitchen, powder room, a master bedroom with a master bath. We got this room due to the ineptitude of Hotels.com, which is another story for another review. The staff were extremely kind and courteous. The lobby area is beautiful. As you walk in the front desk is there directly opposite the entrance. On one side is a lounge area with a tv, and the other side of the room is where they host the continental breakfast, very very clean. Outside there are tables and chairs setup so you can bring your breakfast outside - there's even a BBQ. The continental breakfast could definitely be improved...however a great cup of coffee !! I highly recommend the Mountainview Inn; I am not hesitating to go back. We have a few more trips set up to go back to that vicinity and will definitely be staying at the inn, but next time...we won't be staying in the apartment :( read more
