There were a few maintenance issues: a minor bathroom issue present upon arrival was fixed up return from dinner a couple hours later; one of the two elevators was marked "temporarily out of service" (which I thought was interesting phrasing); their big coffee maker was out of order, but a small home-sized machine had been rolled out to provide the breakfast crowd with the needed caffeine. SpringHill Suites in was where I stayed in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area. The hotel was recently remodeled. I was greeted when I arrived and given an 8 ounce bottle of water. My room was on the top floor. I was worried at first as my room was on the road side but traffic noise was only an issue a few times and not with most vehicles. The trees were a good buffer and there is some distance between the hotel and highway. The room design was ok. The tv could not be seen from the desk area and the floor lamp would have been better at the other side of the couch. I almost moved it. The lighting over the kitchenette was good and there was a ceiling fan too. The windows had two shades rather than a shade and curtains. I would have preferred black out curtains as these shades let light in especially around the edges. During the day it was nice to open both just for light in the room. The room could have been cleaner. I thought it was odd that the trash bags for the cans were not put inside but just left hanging over the cans. The shower had stray hairs and mold growing so could have used a more thorough cleaning. The bathroom door was dirty and a corner of it missing. I wish the remodel would have put a door enclosing both the sink and toilet shower rooms rather than just having the door at the toilet/shower room. The tv lineup was good but every once in a while the channels would scramble so maybe the connection wasn't good. There is a fitness room open 24 hours a day. I couldn't get any photos as it was in use every time I tried. Then the outside pool seemed closed for the season. I believe there is a grill outside and saw some hanging out at a seating area. Breakfast is free in the mornings and could have used a larger area or the items better laid out. It was not the best organized. The toaster was so close to the waffle iron and that seemed like a safety hazard when trying to get something in and out of the toaster. The first morning everything was getting restocked and a good selection but someone else was working the next morning and items ran out and just a few items were out. Was booked here by clients. Was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews, but they were a year ago. Since then, the place appears to have been completely remodeled. It was very clean very comfortable and very nice. Breakfast was OK, but I'm really over hotel breakfast I think. The TV didn't have a sleep timer, and the only other gripe was you couldn't put the fan on "continuous" for white noise do drown out the normal hotel hallway chatter. But highly recommend. read more

Cons: This hotel is definitely in need of an update and facelift, inside and out. It is extremely dated, carpet is worn (and doesn't look remotely clean), dents and dings in furniture etc. The A/C is adequate but it's musty, and difficult to manage a constant temperature. Housekeeping is offered every other day. Was not able to accommodate extra pillows request. One of the overhead lights did not work. Pro: staff are all friendly, bed is comfortable, nice sized tv, water pressure is good. I did not partake in any breakfast. Overall, I would not stay here again. Especially for the price. I would expect this to be 100 or less a night but was shocked at 235. There were not any other options available at the time I booked. read more

I stayed here for business (gov employee) which allowed me to get a lower rate. The standard rate was around $204 per night which is TOO expensive. As other reviews have mentioned, this hotel is outdated HOWEVER they have plans to renovate this year. Staff is super friendly! Bottled water is complimentary during your stay, and they have fresh baked cookies daily by the front desk. Wasn't able to partake in breakfast. Housekeeping came and tidied my room daily - which I LOVE. This hotel is located in a great area - surrounded by shops, mall, restaurants and grocery stores. Over two days no water bottles. One person at the front desk last night said she did not have enough time to fill the refrigerator. Come back. Very friendly staff and a decent room. I do prefer the sink in the bathroom. Elite members get to play the plinko for additional points. They have an outside putting green. Nice that they leave snacks out for golfers such as water, peanuts, nature valley bars and pretzels. Breakfast is a big perk for me. Powdered eggs, burnt sausage and fake turkey bacon is not liked. A juice machine is necessary. Hot water cannisters that are cold for tea is a loser. Waffle machines with no toppings is bad. Finally no pastries or muffins and white/wheat bread only is unacceptable. 2 days here and i wanted to go to fairfield inn. LOL. They at least have canned fruit versus apes, oranges and mushy bananas. I moved from the hilton garden inn to save dollars. I miss that breakfast. read more

The customer service is what is the standout at the SpringHill Suites in Pinehurst. While the property is okay and the exercise room functional, the customer service is excellent. The hotel is also located in a very nice area hugged by trees and putting greens for the avid golf lover. It is also very close to restaurants and shopping. I look forward to staying here again on my next visit. read more

A very disappointing experience for a Marriott property. Pro...The room was clean upon arrival, the water pressure in the shower was awesome, and room size was adequate. Due to COVID there was no room cleaning during our stay which was fine. Fresh towels were delivered to our door if we placed used towels in the hallway. Cons...The mattress was awful, rolled into the center. The pillows were no better, lumpy, no support. The bedding was lackluster. We noticed the side door was never locked even tho the sign at the door states it's "always locked for the security of the guests".. This was not a hotel we'd return to in the future. read more

Older hotel however could be in decent condition if they cleaned it a little better. Several areas in the hotel were dirty and unclean rooms. We had used bottles on toiletries in our room and stained carpets. Random hair found in bathrooms and bedding. I noticed all the vents were gross and it was very hard not to notice them. Staff was friendly and we also used the hot tub that was clean and nice. Lobby is up to date friendly. Front lobby staff was short and rude, however, the housekeeping staff was very friendly. We were attending a wedding in the area and SpringHill Suites Pinehurst was the hotel of choice. I was a bit nervous to stay here because of the ratings but I shouldn't have been worried. The hotel is very clean and the rooms have plenty of room to move around. The pool was getting a lot of activity and all the guests seemed to be happy. They offered the standard free breakfast with eggs, bacon and make your own waffles. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. Everyone was engaging and professional. read more

IMO this place is not worthy of the Marriott name. The service was fine. The room was motel in the boonies quality. Bathroom had urine splatter on the floor. Toilet was stained yellow. We found a dirty shirt behind the couch. And even if it was clean, the room was very much lacking. One tiny drawer in the whole room and 6 or 7 hangers. Might work for 1 person. But for 2 or in our case 2 with a kid , we had clothes all over the place as there was no room for clothes it the suitcases. We hope to visit Pinehurst a lot in the future, this hotel is a must avoid. read more

For the most parts this is a very nice place to stay. 2 things that didn't sit right with me. One, the property is penalizing customers who have booked using a 3rd party agencies, like Expedia, a $10 parking fee. Not everyone only ppl who have booked using 3rd party agencies. It's only after voice my concern did they say they will likely wave it. Which they did. But I imagine if a customer who says nothing, then they get charged the parking fee. The property doesn't share the parking with any other business in the area. There is no real need to charge guest for parking l. Second, when I checked in the did advise me of water being shut off the next day from 8AM till whenever. By that time I would already be working so I was ok. But on my second day. I woke at 6AM and there was no water. I left the faucet open and it did eventually start dribbling out. Took about half an hour to take a shower. Other than this room are clean. Staff is extremely nice. And location is great. read more

For someone who stayed at over 100 different Marriott properties, this was the worst one I've stayed at. People partying at the pool like it's their own house until 2 AM, where as the pool is supposed to shut down it's 11 o'clock. The staff could care less, and I'm not sure any staff was even on site after 11 PM. read more

Just a couple minor things kept me from giving it 4 stars. A nice and clean hotel with a nice staff. The lady working the front desk when I checked in at 530PM was alone or at least no one came out to help and she needed it. A hotel like this should always have 2 staff members at the front desk. The day was very hot and when I opened my door it felt like a furnace. It bugs the hell out of me when they will not leve the AC on when guests are coming in. A co worker found his AC on so it may have just been the person who cleaned the room. It took forever for the AC to cool the room down. The two TV's were small and surprisingly not HDTV's. I stayed here 2 nights while avoiding hurricane Dorian. Although they are not normally pet friendly they made an exception due to the hurricane. For that I am truly grateful. The accommodations were dated but clean and a nice breakfast option was included. The reason for only three stars were the charges that appeared twice after paying in full upfront. The first was $40 for "incidentals and parking" which I was told would be reversed. Then I was charged $20 again for PARKING. This is a free standing motel with no connections to any other business and is surrounded by woods. There is no optional parking. After calling and disputing this charge I was told it was in my confirmation which it was not. Eventually I was told the $20 would also be reversed and if it is not I will dispute it with my credit card company. I just don' t like businesses that do what I consider underhanded things simply because they have your credit card. It really soured my view of Marriott. read more

Ok, you stay here for free breakfast which they post proudly on the wall. They know there is a lot of kids here this week for the USKids golf, but they run out of breakfast food 30 minutes prior to their own announced end times (9am weekday). They ran out of milk and eggs. Their management explain that it was because the food truck failed to show at 6am. Well, it reflects poor management, because they knew there would be tons of kids needing milk for breakfast that ends at 9am. They send a person to the store to buy 2 liter of milk. Let's do the math, how many cups of milk in a 2 liter? Seriously, there were more than 8 kids waiting for milk at 8:30am. How long does it take to get milk from the store at 6am when you knew the food truck didn't stop at the hotel? Why would you buy a 2 liter carton of milk? Math anyone? Two breakfast in a row the manager failed to instruct staff to buy appropriate rations of food for guests that stayed here for the free breakfast. ... she also failed to understand the numbers of guest despite the white board at the front welcoming US Kids golf. Again, bad management has let this place become a dump. One star now. Shame on Marriott for hiring such poor leadership. read more

I have done a lot of traveling for both business and leisure. I was not expecting a Marriott chain in Pinehurst (golf capital) for over $200 a night to be so disappointing. I had face to face communication with at least 3 service reps at the counter. The first one when I got there was rude. The other two were friendly enough. They charged an extra $10 for parking. Who charges their guests to park where they're staying? Where else do they expect their guests to park? Not to mention carry luggage from this other unknown free parking area. Perhaps that's the point they know it's the only parking choice and choose to capitalize off of it. The room was sub par. Upon pulling back the covers on the bed, I found hair. Which made me decide to look at the mattress it too had hair and other particles on it. The carpets and couch were stained. In my opinion, they should have charged half of what they did. read more
