Loved, loved, loved our belated 25th anniversary trip to Hocking Hills! We stayed at "The Rose" and it was absolutely stunning from the moment you see it and once you walk through the door - no words! My husband & I always make sure we stay where dogs are allowed- and they are here (for an extra fee). It's a nice wide open cabin with lots of windows!! The owners left them dog treats and a squeaky toy for each dog! We enjoyed hiking during the day and relaxing afterwards in the hot tub!! Beautiful time of year! Lana, one of the owners, was so nice & friendly! Thank you for a wonderful getaway! Much needed relaxation during a crazy time! Location is great for hiking and picking up food or stopping by the winery.

We stayed at Springwood Cabins last weekend for the second time, our first being last August. While there are several cabins on site, we've stayed at The Crows Nest cabin both times. Each cabin is far enough from the others with enough forest between them that you truly feel secluded in your own private site. We absolutely love The Crows Nest and I cannot recommend it enough nor give enough praise to the owners of Springwood due to their attention to detail and the perfect and spotless condition that they keep the cabin in. We've stayed at many cabin rentals throughout Ohio and Springwood Cabins has made us feel the most welcome and relaxed. The moment you walk in, you can feel the love that the owners have put into the cabin. Crows Nest is a two bedroom cabin with a large open living/kitchen area and each bedroom has its own full private bath. The front porch is spacious with four rocking chairs and they've added a brand new covered back deck with a table and plenty of seating and a new hot tub. We spent our breakfast time on the back deck daily. There is also a brand new outdoor grill below. To the left of the cabin is a well maintained fire pit with three sturdy benches, so you don't even need to bring your own camp chairs if you don't want to. Speaking of needs, the cabin is provided with everything you could need, all you have to bring is your food. Seriously. They supply bath towels and wash cloths, hot tub towels, paper towels, extra trash bags, toilet paper, kitchen towels, a fully stocked kitchen of cookware and utensils and plates. The appliances are well kept and clean: coffee maker, microwave, toaster and Keurig (with Keurig cups supplied), even dog bowls for if you bring your pets. And the WiFi is solid as well. When you first walk in, there is soothing music playing and you feel at peace immediately. It is thoughtfully decorated, the kitchen towels are even folded neatly on the stove. In the island counter is a personalized welcome tent card and that little detail made it feel extra special. I am really trying to find something constructive to add but it's difficult because the place is just perfect. If anything, I wish there were some hooks on the bathroom doors to hang my clothes, there is only a towel bar in the bathroom. I eventually want to stay at the Crows Nest in the fall for the changing of leaf color, I can only imagine how beautiful it is. I'd recommend Springwood to anyone who wants to truly get away for some time without sacrificing comfort. read more

Love this place. i've stayed in multiple cabins and each was unique and wonderful. My service dog runs the trails and just has a blast. Quiet and green as far as you can see. Love the owners Lana & Sue and couldn't be treated better by them. Cabins are clean and fresh, a real treat for this city girl. Can't wait to go back! read more

Just came back from a wonderful relaxing stay at Springwood Cabins in Hocking Hills Ohio. Springwood cabins has six different beautiful cabins in various sizes and themes. SpringwoodCabins.com has something to offer everyone. In fact, we or someone who was with us, have stayed in each of the different cabins. This one was called the Lillypad, and was the most recent cabin they built. The cabins are all situated on a 52 acre mountain. Each with its own private outdoor five person hot tub. Lots of trails you can walk and a beautiful stocked fishing pond. (Catch & release) If you're looking for a romantic getaway, or a family reunion(which we did) or a group of friends (our gal pals group did) You won't be disappointed. AND you can take your pets ($45 covers your whole stay for all pets per cabin) We went on the scenic Hocking Hills train ride. We went to the Nelsonville opera house and listened to a performance by Young students learning various instruments and singing, and it was incredibly heartwarming. Then we went upstairs for the storytelling liars competition. Quite a diverse evening that was. LOL. There are a lot of different things to do in the area, from hiking at old man's Cave or Ash Cave. Zip lining at Hocking Hills canopy tours, ( did that a couple years ago) glass blowing classes, bead making classes, ATV rental, a Marina on Lake Logan. The hosts, Lana Wall & Sue Bailey have always been the perfect hosts making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Take a look at their website and if you have any questions, just let me know. I'll be happy to share. read more

As stated, we stayed at The Rose. This cabin is so cool for a couple. Wide open "Studio style" cabin with plenty of windows. It was like living on the forest. It stormed one of our days and the rain on the tin roof was so musical. This place is just magical. We loved it. One last word. It's the little things that count. When we arrived there was some serene music playing and it looked charming but they had a welcome card out with our names on it... including our dog, Teddy. They included our little guy and it made us feel even more at home. They even had a bowl, toys, and some treats for him. Those little things matter. This place would've gotten five stars without mentioning our puppy but those touches spoke to us. When we return it will be back to the rose. read more

My wife and I stayed at Springwood Cabins before and actually had a good time -- while we were there the first time they were building the new cabin on the property. We moved out West and came back to Ohio to get married. We had both fallen inl ove with Hocking Hills and decided to take a three night honeymoon in the new cabin -- how cool, right? Wrong. The first thing I noticed when trying to unload our luggage was there was no defined space at the new cabin to park our vehicle. I mean really -- there is no defined space. Having just received a piece of $300 luggage for our wedding we didn't want to try and lug everything down a muddy hill about 500-800 feet to the cabin. So I got out of the car and looked around -- I noticed a trail that had been worn down by vehicles and decided to pull up to unload our luggage. I did move a log, but didn't think it was a big deal as I could see a defined area where other vehicles had parked. I wasn't planning on parking in this location just needed to unload and I was going to move it back up the hill and park in the other cabin's parking spot. I really had no idea where to park -- all the other cabins on the property you pull right up to the cabin -- this one I wasn't sure. After carrying my first load of groceries and luggage to the cabin - I came back out and noticed my wife talking to someone near our vehicle. When I approached, I was informed by an older woman with a broom (not sure who she was at the moment) that I couldn't park there. When I told her I didn't know where to park she showed me the area where you are supposed to park. She told me I could unload, but I needed to get out of there asap in case it rains I wouldn't make it up the hill. We told her that we will unload and park where she told us to park. We grabbed the rest of the luggage and came back out to get the groceries a moment later. When I came back out I was confronted by an older dark haired woman, on a lawn mower, who screamed at me, "What in the hell possessed you to come down here?"(I won't put it in all caps, but envision it -- classy!!!) I looked at my wife as she was instantly upset. We're exhausted and were not trying to cause any trouble. My wife told her that we are going to park in the parking space the other lady told us to park. She continued to yell as us and ask us why we would park there. Then I told the woman that there was no defined area to park and I wasn't going to lug all my stuff 800 feet to the cabin. She then swore at me and said, "I can make sure you don't have that problem ever again..." I am still not sure what she meant by this -- I assume it wasn't a death threat, but instead a threat to kick us out? The other lady at this point told the lady on the lawn mower to just come with her. We really were taken a back at this point. Thinking this was just a bad misunderstanding (or lack of communication on their end of where to park), but it wasn't worth the rude behavior we were receiving. I understand if you don't want someone to park somewhere, but define a space for the cabin to park. (put up a sign) So after the woman said she could solve our problem she swore at us a couple of other times--and then started her lawn mower and threw up her hands. I was totally dumbfounded again -- wow-- I've never allowed anyone to treat me like this before, but not wanting to ruin the honeymoon any more than it already was I just moved the car and came back into the cabin. After that whole situation, my wife and I were never really comfortable staying in the cabin. The cabin itself is nice and most things are new. The bed is a murphy bed (comes out of the wall) and isn't big enough to sleep two adults comfortable. I had prepared to cook a nice meal on the grill -- the grill barely works -- it can't cook a piece of chicken if its life depended on it. So that was a bust. The next day went relatively smooth as we had no sighting of the two women. Then the following morning, I noticed the women riding around on their lawn mowers near our cabin. Not sure what to make of it -- I just went along with my business. The riding continued on and off for about an hour or two. I am not sure if they were cleaning other cabins or what, but they were riding through the same area that they told us we couldn't park and making us feel uncomfortable as it felt like they were watching us while we were in the hot tub. So instead of staying the night there we decided to leave a day early and find a place closer to the airport. The owners are so rude -- it made this place terrible. I am not a person to complain, but this experience matches some of the other ones I read. Listen, there are better options out there -- if you run into the owners and sneeze the wrong way they might threaten you and swear at you too. Just beware -- you've been warned! read more
My fiancee and stayed here (at the Butterfly Trail cabin) recently to celebrate our engagement and after looking through all the great options for cabins in the area, this was definitely the right choice. From the moment we drove up to the cabin our experience was absolutely perfect. The cabin itself is nestled into a private wooded area directly next to a trail, so you get that wonderful 'cabin in the woods' feel from the start. The interior was really cozy and smelled of pine as soon as we walked in and each of the two bedrooms was cozy as well. A great, personal touch to the cabin was the wine corks that line the top of the doors as each guest puts theirs up - lending a personal feel to the history of the cabin. Outdoors, there was an awesome hottub on the back porch - at night, you can turn on string lights which lend an amazing ambiance complimentary to the night sky overflowing from above. We had 0 complaints or negatives about our stay, kitchen was well stocked with utensils, etc, and everything was clean and cozy. We couldn't say more about how wonderful our stay was, it was one of the best vacations I've ever had as well as perhaps the most relaxing and zen weekend of my life staying at the cabin. For anyone looking for a cozy and peaceful weekend getaway, I would highly recommend Springwood Cabins and Butterfly Trail. read more

Everything is so clean and everyone is so nice! What more could you ask for? They also will allow pets for an extra fee, so your little friend can have fun too. The nature is relaxing and it's just very nice. A must see and a must stay! read more

The reviews out here are old. There are several more current reviews on Trip Advisor. I stayed at Spring Wood cabins in August 2014. The cabins are clean and well maintained. They have many nice amenities. The owners are friendly and wanted us to feel welcome -- they made sure to let us know if we need anything. There is a small fishing pond, that is very peaceful to fish or just sit close by. They are in a great location -- secluded, yet close to the parks. When we return to Hocking Hills we will definitely return to Spring Wood,T read more

What I wished I had known prior to renting: -Doors did not lock -Sleeps 8 really means two people need to sleep on couches -Water is from a well and smells terrible- towels also smelled sour -When we contacted the management to voice our concerns (not ask for a refund), I was treated so poorly, called names, and received no respect. It is obvious that they do the very least to make the most money and no concern for making their customers satisfied. I was in tears after speaking to the management. Many of these issues could have been avoided if they had been forthcoming in the advertisement or at the time of rental on the phone. read more

We have stayed at Springwood Cabins 3 times already and expect to stay many more times. Everything has been exceptional and the owners more than accommodating for any last minute needs. We have only stayed in The Rose and Butterfly Trial, love both and expect to try some other cabins. The Rose has the most wonderful view, huge beautiful floor to ceiling windows on 2 side, Cathedral ceiling, a great hot tub to view the night sky, and an excellent kitchen for 2 gourmet cooks and all our supplies (French Truffles to simple garden lettuce). This is a romantic, peaceful for reading, writing, listening to classical or any music. Although the parking is not next to the cabin it is so close that even with tons of foods for a weeks stay and loads of books it was not an issue. Tip- bring wine and enjoy! Butterfly trail has two regular bedrooms and a cosiness that is most enjoyable & we are staying there again over the Christmas holiday. A beautiful time in Hocking Hills. A warm fire, wine, food and relaxation. There is some cold & mud in H Hills park but the frozen beauty more than makes it worthwhile. We always bring our 2 dogs and the cabins are designed for them with all wood floors etc.We hope to get enough people for a stay in the cabin overlooking the pond sometime. I highly recommend. read more

We loved our cabin! Very clean, new furniture, great dishes and wine glasses! Location can't be beat. And most importantly, the owners/hosts made everything so easy. I wouldn't change a thing about this experience. Highly recommend. read more

We have stayed in 3 different cabins here in both the summer and winter and have always had a good experience with both the cabins and the owners. The Butterfly Trail is our favorite, follwed by the Deer crossing, then the Crow's nest. All cabins are clean and well stocked. Lots of wildlife and peace and quiet. Fairly close to town-Logan, and Old Man's Caves. read more

We stayed over the weekend after dropping our oldest son off at Ohio State University. The cabin was clean, well-maintained and perfect for our getaway. The proximity to Old Man's Cave was great and we enjoyed the fire pit and lounging in the hot tub. Not to mention, it is pet-friendly and our dog was treated like royalty (extra homemade treats to take back to Pittsburgh). We will definitely be back! read more

I would never come to Hocking Hills and stay anywhere else but with Springwood. My wife and I booked butterfly trail and were able to arrive the same evening and bring our dog. The customer service provided by Sue was out of this world. They accommodated us on such short notice perfectly. We were blown away by the beauty, upkeep and seclusion of this wonderful cabin. The location couldn't be better either. We are right off 664 about 12 miles (15 minutes one way) from Walmart and Logan City Center and about 10-12 minutes from Old Man's and Ash Caves. Also, due to some construction going on. ear our cabin, Sue offered to pay for us to go out to eat our first morning and also comped us an entire night as well as offered us a discounted stay for next time which we will be absolutely booking as soon as we can and looking forward to. I would recommend this cabin specifically or any other offered by Springwood to anybody. I wish I could rate them at 10 instead of 5. Don't book with anyone else! read more
