We rented the Gray Wolf Lodge for two nights and it truly exceeded expectations. Gray Wolf said it would sleep a maximum of 12, we had 10 people (6 adults and 4 teenagers) and everyone was comfortable. I had booked the lodge in December for a June stay and all arrival instructions were clearly articulated. House was very clean, furniture was comfortable, and you are about 10 minutes from Old Man's Cave. If you need something from Logan it is more of a 25-30 minute drive to a Walmart or Kroger. Also included staying here is a pool pass good for 12. I highly recommend the Gray Wolf lodge. It was a great experience in the Hocking Hills. read more

We rented The Hitching Post cabin (Cabins by the Caves) for the weekend along with a zipline X-tour reservation - prepaid. We arrived at Hocking Hills Saturday afternoon, hiked and hung out at the lodge. We then went to our cabin, arriving around 7:00 pm tired and ready for a campfire. But...the driveway was too steep for my SUV to climb. We attempted 4 times and gave up, there was no way my car was going to make it up the hill. We couldn't even see the cabin it was up a huge hill and around a bend. The reservation warned of a steep incline so I called the office when I made the reservation and was told that its only a problem in inclement weather - that was not true! I have a 2024 SUV, I do not have an old car that would be questionable. We couldn't get cell service to call the office so we left and drove to the nearest hotel thinking we would find somewhere else to stay. I reached a lady at Cabins by the Caves and was told we should have been able to get up the hill - her car gets up the hill with no problem and so does the cleaning ladies. Well - my car couldn't and I wasn't going to burn up the engine trying. She eventually gave me my money back and told us "never call again". We tried 4 hotels in the area, all were booked. We had no choice but to drive all the way back home. Needless to say our weekend was a bust. We lost money on our zipline tour and we lost our weekend. DO NOT RENT THIS CABIN WITHOUT A 4 WHEEL DRIVE!! read more

This was everything I imagined and more. A clean and beautiful cabin with every single thing we needed was ready for us when we pulled up. We were there for 2 nights and had them provide a birthday cake for us. It was delicious! It was waiting for us in the fridge when we arrived. The wrap around deck is great to enjoy sunrise with a cup of tea or coffee. And even though there are other cabins nearby, you feel like you're alone with nature. While the cabin was really adorable and nice there was some problems that we feel could have easily been avoidable. The pans in the kitchen were so bad we tried our best to cook with them without ruining them complete. We like to cook while we stay at the cabins and not eat out. But not the worst thing in the world. Still a wonderful cabin and very cozy! But the most negative was the hot tub. We ALWAYS book a cabin with a hot tub and this one was sooo old and the water look dirty when we got there. We read that they change it after every stay so maybe it was the chemicals so we waited until the next day but still it was cloudy and had bugs and dirt in it and you could see a film on top of the water. Sooooo disappointing. We were too uncomfortable to use it without knowing if it really was cleaned. Other than that it was great! read more

We stayed at Birds Nest Cabin and it was absolutely perfect. The cabin was very clean and it had the exact amenities we needed. The location was great for hiking in Hocking Hills State Park! Loved that it was off the beaten path so we could completely unhook from work and stress. The covered porch with fireplace and hot tub couldn't have been more perfect. We will be back. read more

Leading up to our stay, staff was friendly and responsive to the questions I had. Very easy to deal with. Again, clean. 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, hot tub, fire pit, full kitchen, ac, fireplace, remote. Amazing and well maintained. The only recommendation we have for the Hillside Cabin, 4 wheel drive. Don't know how you make it without it. read more

Couldn't have loved it more! We stayed at the McKinley for two nights. The cabin was perfect. Both of us can cook so we always bring food instead of eating out. So we loved the kitchen and appliances in this location. They even had charcoal provided for the grill. Satellite TV was not used but appreciated. Hot tub was awesome! Deep Breath. I think I've calmed down enough to write this review with a certain amount of objectivity. My initial review would have been negative stars, but that isn't fair. There is plenty to like about Cabins by the Caves... It's time for another edition of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly! First, the good: The cabins are pretty nice, the amenities are mostly good. The staff is very pleasant to deal with on the phone. Air conditioning was great, as was the hot tub. There are many good things to like about these cabins. If you plan to visit by car/4WD truck, I would even recommend them. The Neutral: If you have a cabin at the top of the Hill, you have cell service. If not, you're off the grid. This can go both ways, I suppose. The Bad: The Amenities are inconsistent. Some of the cabins have dishwashers, some don't. Some have hairdryers, some don't. If it's important to you, be sure to ask in advance. The toilets are the smallest I have ever seen. I think they were designed for Japanese schoolchildren. The usual issues you might see with cabins: Old Plumbing, weird electrical issues, etc. Honestly, most of this stuff is forgivable, if not for... The Ugly: OK, here we go! Our Motorcycle group chose this place based on it's reviews, without actually visiting it first. We rented multiple cabins, and we asked many questions during the lead-up to our rally. We made it very clear that the group would be on motorcycles, and we asked many pointed questions about parking, driveway quality, access, etc. We were assured that the property was great for motorcycles. We were even told they were re-doing the driveway in June. Allow me to be blunt. This property is NOT SAFE for motorcyclists. To say anything else would be irresponsible, and could lead to someone getting badly hurt, if not killed. While not the fault of the owners, the road coming to/from the property is one lane wide, and consists of loosely packed gravel. You're concentrating on staying upright, and a car comes around a blind curve. There is almost nowhere for you to go. There is no real shoulder, so you end up with your bike in a drainage ditch while the car has to squeak past you. That said, the road is the least of your worries. The driveway into and out of the cabins is dirt, loose bits of gravel, and ancient pavement covered in loose rocks, filled with potholes. There is a giant pile of gravel off to the side of the road in one spot, I think this was what they meant about re-doing the driveway. The gravel pile is right near the mud bog section of the road. We had one couple staying at the top of the hill, and how the rider managed to get up and down that hill (once) is a miracle. He only rode the hill once, because it was far too dangerous to do again. Honestly, it was dangerous to walk that hill without slipping and falling. Thankfully, the group had 3 cars, so there were people around to run shuttle service to the top. The 4WD Toyota pickup had a tough time climbing the hill without spinning tires. Over 3 days, 4 out of 8 Bikes dumped in various parts of the driveway. It was so bad that by the second day, we instituted a buddy rule, you couldn't go anywhere on a bike without someone else. There is no cell service at the road, so if you get hurt, you're done. Incidentally, have you ever tried picking up a 950# bike while standing in mud on the side of a hill? Now, when I say that 4 out of 8 bikes dumped, I need to make clear: There are no chuckleheads or newbies in this group. We are all very experienced riders, on state of the art high end bikes. One of the guys teaches the MSF class. We have ridden some truly crazy roads in our time together, but never anything like this. Half of our group ended up with horizontal bikes. It's amazing nobody was seriously injured. This is the first time my Motorcycle has ever engaged the anti-lock brakes. Also the first time it's been down. This property is NOT SAFE for motorcyclists. In Summary: Going by car? Go for it. On a motorcycle? STAY FAR, FAR AWAY. read more

We stayed in the Wildflower cabin last weekend for my birthday/anniversary, and it was GREAT! Nice and secluded. The cabin was clean and cozy, and was fully stocked with about any kitchen hardware (dishes, utensils, cookware, blender, mixer, etc.) you could need. The couches were comfortable. The bed in the master bedroom was nice and firm. As it was just the two of us, we didn't need the upstairs (loft) bedroom. And the hot tub was, well, HOT (and clean). The main driveway is gravel and quite steep - hence the requirement for 4WD. It was dry throughout our stay, so my Jeep had no problem climbing to the top. There was also a secondary drive that is not published that leads past several other cabins, and isn't quite as steep. We only used this one once, just to see where it went, and didn't want to disturb the other cabin guests. Only a few small issues kept this from 5-stars: 1) When we arrived, the Satellite TV in the living room had no sound. Tinkered and messed around with settings - nothing. Originally connected to TV via coax, so I bought an AV at Wally World that evening and reconnected it - didn't help - still no sound from the satellite box. So I swapped the receiver in the living room with the one in the downstairs area - Reconnected them both - and they BOTH worked fine. I think the problem may have been that there had been a power outage at some point, and maybe the original living room box may have needed a hard reset (unplugged) to get the sound working again... I left the AV cable attached so you're welcome future visitors for the clearer picture and sound :) 2) Awesome cabinet video game in the downstairs area! Free play and 60 old-school games in one machine! However there was something going on with the monitor that made it nearly unplayable :( Sucks because I'm a fan of those games... 3) We stayed over into Monday morning. Right about 9AM we got a robo-call waking us up. About 30 minutes later, another one... The cabin's phone number may have gotten on a list. So if you want to be left undisturbed, and don't need the phone, take it off the hook! 4) DVD player (built into the TV) would start giving fits about 3/4 of the way through a disc. We were able to finish one movie, but couldn't get it to finish the second. A few tips for people that may want this cabin: 1) We couldn't get any cell reception there (T-Mobile or AT&T). Looks like the cabin is equipped with a Sprint hotspot (no public access) for it's telephone, so maybe Sprint users could get a signal. 2) Would have to be well-water there, and has a strong sulfur smell and taste. It's probably already filtered and softened. Nothing wrong with it. Just is what it is - be ready. 3) Plan your need accordingly. The cabin is in a great location for the parks and hiking, but it is a haul to get over to Logan, where the stores (Walmart, Krogers), some activities (like canoeing) and restaurants (fast food, chains, and we LOVED the Millstone BBQ!) are. NOTE: Redbox at both Walmart and Krogers :) Overall a great time in a great location at a great price. We are already planning a return visit next year! E read more

The staff is friendly and helpful, cabins are adorable and perfectly clean. Our trash was knocked by raccoons and before we even had a chance to clean it, someone had come and done it for us (and secured the trash can back) to our surprise. Needing more toiletries or towels was a breeze, Dawn showed up in no time and was so friendly and hospitable. You have many many options when it comes to a luxury cabin in hocking hills. I highly recommend not using this company. First we were told that we could check in at 4. However I had to meet with their cleaning lady to sign paperwork. I waited over 45 minutes for her to appear. Once she arrived she said she had to be in the next town in 10 minutes to meet a friend and it was raining and she couldn't get the contract wet, so I was not given an opportunity to read anything I was signing. I signed in good faith as I had read mostly positive things about the company and knew we would leave the cabin in pristine condition. The cabin was beautiful and advertised that it slept 15 comfortably we only had about 10. Our plan was to have a small wedding ceremony in the front of the cabin. 30 guests We had the pleasure of meeting the owner the day of who said she was very happy we were having our wedding there. She said it was what she intended the cabin to be used for and thought that the way we had it set up was beautiful. The cabin is on the corner of 2 dead end streets. After the ceremony the cleaning lady showed up and said that he cars parked on the road needed to move. So I kindly obliged and had all my guests move them off site to a state owned park. this was around 6:30pm. No more than 10-12c cars. Afterwards around 9:30 the cabins managers showed up. At this point there were around 15 people still there. We had music playing inside the cabin but not overly loud by any means. I am in my 30s and most people in attendance were older so it wasn't a "party" by any stretch of the imagination. The managers demanded that I tell all the guests to leave and that I would be charged extra for wear and tear on the cabin. They said I was in breach of the contract and they should just tell us all to leave. I was highly confused at this point. However I obliged. To say they ruined the experience would be an understatement. Today I got notice from my bank that they have charged me an additional $1000 dollars for my stay. I will post pictures of how the cabin looked the next day. It was as clean if not cleaner than when we arrived. They did not notify me first or even try to justify the charges. My wife and I stay in hocking hills quite often and have never had such a terrible experience. This management team should be embarrassed. I will be posting this on every media outlet available to give a heads up to potential renters. read more

Stayed in Sugar Bear for a weekend getaway. It was even nicer than the pictures! I called the owner twice with various questions and she was really nice and helpful. The cabin was very clean. The price was a steal compared to the other cabins we saw, and we pretty much got the pick of the litter by booking 2 months in advance. I will definitely keep them in mind next time we venture to Logan. Just FYI about Sugar Bear specifically - the tap water is good so you don't need to bring bottled, there is cell phone service, the driveway could be treacherous after snow; if we had gone a few days earlier right after a snowstorm my honda would've had a terrible time making it to the cabin...this is not unusual for most of the cabins we've stayed in near Hocking Hills. read more

I have waited a few weeks to post this review. My significant other and I stayed with another couple at The Barn at Pumpkin Ridge. The last weekend of August, as a relaxing weekend before the start of the fall semester of college. For anyone who doesn't know, there is a lot of paper work to be done before the first day. So we chose a cabin that had wifi, or so we thought. We arrive, the cabin was easily accessible , except for a very rough "drive-way." Its a steep hill, I'll give them that, but it was full of pot holes, gravel, and very narrow, with deep trenches from rain water on the edges. Luckily we drove a truck which didn't struggle much on the terrain...not suitable for cars though. The cabin was very pretty, well maintained and clean. The room in the basement was the largest, don't try to put adults upstairs, bed is crammed into a spot on the loft, and the AC doesn't reach up there. We settled in and went to start dinner, the appliances are outdated, and the oven is sketchy at best. We tried to log into the wifi, after finding the password in the handy little table book of information about the cabin. After playing around with it for awhile with no success I called the office to see if the password had changed, it hadn't... they stopped paying the bill. The lady on the phone was rude and unhelpful, didn't offer anything but a very insincere apology. Her excuse was that it wasn't worth it because the signal they got there wasn't very strong.( I work in tech support...thats not how it works...I promise.) After getting off the phone we try to turn on the TV, it said we had dish so we settle for that, but to no surprise. That wasn't working either, I didn't bother to call back, they wouldn't have done anything anyway. (The TV chips were missing) The location of the cabin was nice, close to Logan and the parks. The hot tub was clean, we had a cute visitor, a cat named mittens. He loved to come sit with us as we enjoyed breakfast on the porch. He might have liked the leftovers more! The kitchen was well equipped with utensils, mixing bowls, anything you needed to prep the food. This is a great cabin to bring a family to. Especially if you want them to live without their electronics, haha. Phone signal there is weak, there is not landline so in case of emergencies...don't have them! I recommend a CD player, or speakers of some sort since there are not any there. We weren't at the cabin during the day much, since there wasn't a whole lot to be done there. So if your plan is to go out and explore I recommend it. If you need to get work done, just in a relaxing environment, call ahead and make sure its 21st century compatible! Hayley read more
