Went to sprouts on 280 today and I was honestly shocked by how cheap and trashy it was that they make people pay for plastic bags and offer no alternatives. I was lucky I only had two items because if I had bought a cart full of stuff, I would have been so upset at being forced to pay for bags that I would have made them return my entire cart and left it there in the middle of the checkout line. Nickel and diming people over a grocery bag is tacky and makes the business seem like trailer park trash. read more

Wow. I simply have no other words other than "wow!" But let me try to explain so you guys can grasp how great my experience was today at Sprouts...You see I'm cooking a special meal today (grilled lemon salmon with an avocado paste) but I was having trouble finding anything that wasn't just frozen fish until I came to Sprouts. Now I may just be a first time customer but the store was so homey and cute! So many places are bland and boring nowadays but that's besides the point...The man behind the meat counter (didn't catch his name but I do remember he was the manager) was so nice and sweet and helped me pick out two big salmon steaks! He was so patient letting me inspect them to make sure I got the best pieces for my son! Not to mention, he pointed me in the direction of some of the other stuff I needed to complete my meal. And I hurried on my way, the rest of my experience was just as wholesome! The store is very organized and I found everything with ease. Came into your 280 store today. An employee had cracked a watermelon and was offering it to people for free. I politely said no but she became aggressive asking why. I explain kindly that I do not eat watermelon secondary to the high glycemic sugars in it. She very rudely replied "ok sugar free" in a rude way. I walked away as I was not going to attempt to educate your rude employee on certain medical conditions which would render a person to avoid high glycemic sugars. I really like Sprouts and this location has been my go to Sprouts location ever since the one in Vestavia closed. They have fresh food and lots of good deals. I can usually always fins what I need here minus a few exceptions here and there. Also sometimes, the deals advertised do not reflect the price that comes up in the register so I try to always pay attention to that when checking out. read more

This use to be my go to market for produce. On this trip the the veggies didn't look to good. The zucchini had small holes in it, the squash was molding and the bell peppers looked damaged. We grabbed some cotton candy grapes while there and those were good. The plums were sour and the pears had little tiny holes in them as well. Unfortunately I didn't realize the holes until I got home so I ended up chunking those items. I also picked up some chicken drumsticks and a small chuck roast. The prices of the meat were super reasonable. Not sure if I went on a bad day, but I'll try the veggies again. read more

I don't know what's going on with the cashiers at sprouts but oh my!! They are rude!!!! So in one week two very rude cashiers. Everyone else so far have been amazing. The produce employees, the employees behind the deli section. So very sweet. BUT... I wasn't going to publicly comment on it, but after there was BUGS in the trail mix (I have a video and there is snapshots in the pictures you can see) Also, this is after I had opened it and some FLEW AND CRAWLED OUT. I told one of the employees and she was nice and took it away, she did not apologize or anything. Just took it away. Then I went to pay for my groceries, the cashier (April) was very rude. She THREW my groceries, and when i politely asked her if everything was okay, she said "no, you feel like it is, then it's not my problem" I was soooo shocked! I didn't say anything. I took my receipt, said "thank you" and she said "okay?" I was so upset but I was too tired to deal. Then today, I go and I ask if i can scan my sprouts app (it was my first time really using it) and the lady gets an attitude and saying "whatever, you don't have anything but if you wanna do it for fun..." then she's continues to have an attitude... The store was quiet clean and friendly. They close at 9 pm on Friday's here in Birmingham, AL. It was pouring down rain and at 8:45 pm I have this desire for strawberries! I haven't found any without green beards lately so here I am stoked!!! I couldn't even get the umbrella up I was in such a hurry. Then I saw the sign (does anyone remember that song from 1998). Well the sign said SORRY THERE IS A NATIONAL SHORTAGE AND WE ARE OUT! I was so stunned so I soothed my sorrow with kiwis and almonds. The store seems crowded due to size. This was my fist trip to Sprouts. Overall I was disappointed. I was expecting a better priced Whole Foods. "whole Check" Instead, this looks like a smaller version of a Fresh Market. I did go in for specific items. I did end up getting some of the items I went to to get with a some extra things and my bill is was very reasonable. I can say the French Baguette is delightful! This Bread is as good as any fresh Market Bread I've purchased fresh and this was the last stick of the day. It reminded me of the Leidenheimer Bread. That is a king of complimentary for French Bread. I have one item to be returned for a refund. The Wasabi Peanuts tasted old. Or taste like the container they were once stored in. Either way, we do not like them and they are awful. There my be certain things you just need to buy in a can. I was also disappointed with the selections of produce. The produce they had looked really good, but the they just didn't have what I was looking for. I find it aggregating to be at Sprouts just to have to go to Whole Foods or Fresh Market, or a Farmers Market to get something that should be here. read more

This is my favorite store to shop, I travel here once or twice a week from Sylacauga . They have plenty of vegan options and that is always a plus. They're oils and supplements section offers a great variety of choices, just exactly what I love. They're return policy is very nice which I don't have to use often, but there just in case. Sprouts has always been one of my favorite grocery stores. Their produce is so fresh and well-priced. I always keep an eye out for their 72 hour deals and their weekly specials because the items on sale are available for an unbeatable price. They also have a wide range of organic items as well as lots of healthy food items. The Sprouts closest to me recently closed, so I've started driving out a little further to this store. While I still love Sprouts, I wasn't as impressed with this store. The store itself is a little smaller, and each time that I've come, the produce bins have been a bit empty. Furthermore, this is the third time that I've gone to checkout and the cashier has haphazardly thrown my fruits and veggies into my bags, causing them to get bruised. I assumed that it was my fault the first time that it happened, and that I had just missed the spots. But after it happened a second and third time after I double checked my produce before checkout, I was miffed. I could audibly heard loud "thumps" as the cashier dropped apples on top of the ripe mangoes that I had picked out, and I was proven correct when I checked my fruit in the parking lot and found the mangoes squished. I'm still a fan of Sprouts, but not necessarily this particular store. I'll most likely be checking out a different Sprouts in the Birmingham area. read more

We go to this sprouts once a week for our grocery shopping needs. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Some staff members refer to us as "family" since we are frequent fliers. We try to keep our shopping as local as possible, and although this is a chain, it still feels small enough for the staff members to actually care, unlike some large big box grocery stores. We love this place and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. I do wish the Vestavia location would have stayed open because it was 2 minutes from our house, but we don't mind driving here. read more

Sprouts is always well stocked and the store itself is clean and well kept. They carry a lot of items that are very niche and typically hard to find at major chain stores. They always have chicken breast at a great price and so many other items in their weekly special. The great deal about their ad is that it runs Wednesday to Wednesday. I thought I was only going to go to Trader Joe's for the rest of my life, but I have also fallen in love with Sprouts! While TJ's excels with quirky seasonal more processed items, Sprouts is my go-to for "old faithful" fresh grocery foods like rotisserie chicken, the INCREDIBLE produce selection, great cuts of meat that are frequently on sale, and THE BULK BINS!!! Sprouts has a selection of some nuts, grains, dried fruit, etc., that I can try in any quantity I choose! Unfamiliar with farro? No big deal! I can get just a cup of it and see if I like it, etc. I'm also a big fan of grocery store sushi. Publix used to be my go-to as TJ's has notoriously awful sushi. But Sprouts sushi rivals any I have had (in taste more so than visual appeal), even in local restaurants at a much cheaper price. Sprouts also has a curbside pickup feature which is free if you buy more than $35 (double check me on that number); just be aware that it may take a few hours for your order to be ready, so schedule accordingly. The app will tell you about sales and promotions that are happening, too. Also, if you are looking for niche products such as Better Than Bouillon paste, Sprouts has your back. Check it out! I like Sprouts, and visit often. One caveat, if I may: Be sure and know exactly what your produce is "called" and exactly what it is listed for on the sign. For some reason, the little "sticker" numbers on the fruit don't pull up the right listing at the cash register. Today I bought 3 pounds of a tangerine that was listed on the sign as being $1.28 a pound, and when the cashier rang it up she charged me for a different kind of tangerine was that $1.99 a pound. Was not deliberate, of course, she just picked the wrong thing. I do wish they would fix it so the stickers on the fruit and veggies would ring up correctly at the register. read more

Sprouts Farmers Market seems like a hybrid offspring of Whole Foods and Trader Joe's after they got drunk, had sexual fling and produced a bastard love child. The best part though is that Sprout's Farmers Market turned out smarter and more talented than both parents and did not seem to inherit some of the inbred genetic ugliness and familial insanity. Of course that is very much like many generations of the Royal Family in the United Kingdom to which the mainstream media is perpetually glued. If the mainstream media though wanted to report a real story it would be that the biggest minus here at Sprout's was that for a "farmer's market" it did not have a lot of local produce or local products that I could see. But then again in fairness maybe none of the local produce was actually in season yet. Their prices did seem fairly reasonable though and the store was clean. The produce that they did have looked nice enough so I picked up a few limes, lemons and pink grapefruits for making my Mad Adult Beverages. Other pluses was that unlike Trader Joe's there were no dirty hippies with dreadlocks who stink of body odor and patchouli. They also did not have the vegetarian health snob maniacs like Whole Foods floating about like pale ghosts on their frail, bony frames. Also unlike both of those other places nobody stood in the middle of the aisle oblivious to the fact that somebody might be behind them wanting to get by while they perused the damn vegetarian frozen pizzas or carefully priced the bulk buy spices, nuts and grains. They do have a ridiculously large selection here of vitamins, minerals, supplements, etc. and the like if that is your thang. It sure as hell is NOT mine as I believe a life dedicated to ingesting supplements in larger doses than the daily recommendation is an unhealthy form of self-absorption and obsession that does very little other than the creation of some very rich and expensive bodily waste to eliminate. Ya buncha vitamin binging nutjobs need to get off my lawn and stay off of it!! The best thing here though was the organic Italian Roast whole been coffee as I scored a pound of it. I can honestly say that it was most likely the BEST Italian Roast coffee that I have ever brewed and tasted. And they also have a really excellent selection of locally brewed beers too in addition to a decent selection of reasonably priced bottled wines too. The deli is nice too and you can get in and out of here quick if you need to do so. No giant WalmartS lines with grumpy check out peeps. Overall the place is decent and I would stop in again if I happened to be in the neighborhood. But I can't say I would make a special trip to this type place or any other like it as if it were some pilgrimage to a cult. I never drink the kool-aid at these types of places or any of the others either. It's just a frkkn store after all people! No sense in losing your minds over it. Madman sez to save your "losing-your-mind" life credits for something more dangerous and exciting because you won't find it here. And that is good news!
