The rope is almost unnecessary but I can see why it was placed there. The ergonomics of it though don't really work with some kiddos. I will say, as with many parks, there's a definite issue with people having their dogs unleashed. And just watching their dogs in general. Case in point. I was there once and at the baseball field, there was a couple just taking turns hitting baseballs while their dog would go fetch the ball as it gets hit for distance. Not only is this lazy but it's also against Plano leash law. They may think it's cute but there's nothing cute about an annoying pet that charges at people especially if the people have traumatic experiences against dogs. I'm not saying that was us but it certainly could've triggered others. And also it's against the law. Self-entitled lazy pet owners need to know their place. Also there's signs in the park that says for dog owners to pick up their poop. Almost like a bad joke, I see dog poop right in front of one of those signs recently. Just a lot of bad pet owners around here.

Note: Please clean up after your dogs. Those of us that do don't understand those that don't.

Along the walking and bike path, you may encounter walkers who take up the whole path so just be wary of that bikers. It's mostly ignorance so try to show some grace. Nearby there's a playground as well. It's not big but does have some tables nearby with some trees offering shade. This playground could definitely use an update and additions but it is what it is.

Lots of picnic tables and benches clustered for a group get together. I often walk my dog here. The circumference of the park is not very big at all, but on hot days, it's just enough for my pet to stretch his legs a bit. There are trashcans on both sides of the park. There is also a dual water fountain for humans and pets.

We have gone to this park several times now and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit because there's something new to explore each time. It's busy in the afternoons around rush hour after school lets out since it does border 2 schools. There's a school zone, and it helps control some of the traffic in the area.

The city recently installed bathrooms on site, planted additional trees, a sun shield over the playground to lower the impact from the sun and keep the kiddies cooler, and some workout stations. Additionally, as mentioned before it does have a paved walking trail and pavilion. Along the trail there are two perpetually stocked dog waste bag stations and trash cans so folks can clean up after their pets. There is no water fountain at this park and I hope they install one with a dog fountain attachment at the bottom someday soon (the thought of drinking out of the bathroom is gross to me,sorry).Go here in the early morning or closer to dusk.

I am giving it a four star instead of a five star rating for the following reasons: (1) Yelp won't let me give it a fractional rating of 4.8 or 4.5, which is what I think it should be rated as of the date of this review; (2) it is located just about a mile from Bob Woodruff Park which I rated a 5.0 and is a bigger and better park; and (3) some of the playground equipment could stand to be reconditioned or up-dated. When you spend as much time walking fur babies it is important to know your local neighborhoods and that includes the local parks. This park is a jewel for local residents and visitors. It has soccer fields, two playground areas in the main area of the park and more available on the Willowcreek trail, a rental pavilion (see more on that below), numerous uncovered picnic tables scattered around the park, two bridges, a creek and lots of trees, some wildlife, lots of benches and restrooms. My favorite part of this park is that it is part of the well constructed and maintained Willowcreek trail system. Which means that fur babies (i.e. dogs) have lots of room to sniff, explore, run, play and enjoy themselves. There is no shortage of grass or cement for dog walking and pet recreational time at this park. The pavilion holds a maximum of 50 people. The resident rental rate if $50. The non-resident rental rate is $100. Plano Parks & Recreation requires a $75 deposit. Other fees may apply. Check it out. You will be glad that you did. Are you a Plano 75074 proud pet owner? If so, you owe it to yourself and your fur baby to spend some time here. Too busy to take your fur baby walking? Then make sure your dog walker knows about this park.
