This is a good community park. We drove from Bedford based on the 5 star reviews (and my kids ongoing requests for "a park we've never been to") and I can't say it's worth a 30 minute drive, but for those that live in the area Mary Heads Carter Park is a nice spot, and worthy of a place in the park rotation. The highlight is the tower with the three 3-story high slides, but there are plenty of other fun playground features: a sitting merry go round and a teeter totter, a pirate ship, and many ladders and bridges. It's definitely an above average play structure. The ground is artificial turf, which is something I haven't seen before in a playground. I'd imagine it gets quite hot in the summer, but with very little shade and the Texas heat, the turf is probably the least of your summer park problems. In the fall, when it's cool, the turf actually looks quite nice! Behind the playground is a pretty little marshy area with ducks. The bathrooms are a little farther from the play structure than I'd like, but not a deal breaker. There are two stalls in the women's bathroom, neither of which have a door. Weird, and more than just a little socially awkward. The city of Carrollton could improve the park by planting more shade trees, installing a large canopy that covers the entire play structure, and hanging some doors on the bathroom stalls. Still, the kids had fun and the playground stands out among other community parks. Worth a trip, assuming you live within a 15min radius.

    So much room to run!

This is one of the best parks I've ever been to and I've lived all over the country! My 2 1/2-year-old tends to get bored at smaller parks and everyone I meet at a different park I always mention this park! We go in the mornings before it's too hot and it's also the place to have a perfect early picnic!

The park is clean and beautiful me cool areas for the children. It is padded with artificial grass. A majority of the playground has umbrellas which provides shade during those scorching hot summer days in Texas. However, the park is more for children 3 and up. There is a very small section for small children. There is a small walking trail around the park which loops around a small pond with ducks and an iron bridge which goes over a small creek. They also have restrooms and a good sized pavilion available for parties. The park is crowed during peak season like (spring break) and weekends.

Very nice park! We love the synthetic grass and lots of umbrellas to provide shade. There is a pavilion a little far from the playground. Looks like there is a bathroom too though we did not use it. So many different play structure to play with. My 1 year old and 3 year old enjoyed this park.

Clean park! The walking trail is not very long but it loops around nice. The dog stations always have poop bags and is cleaned out often. The playground is astroturf and has covered sitting space.

~ We really enjoy this park. The kids love the playground and the cool slides! Lots of different activities for kids of all ages.

They have replaced all of the wooden playground equipment (which gave splinters if you weren't careful) with new plastic and metal equipment. It has a few big umbrellas that shade the playground area. The ground underneath is covered in some sort of fake grass that is soft to land on. My niece and nephew, which are ages 6 and 8, loved it! They didn't want to leave.

Park areas is well landscaped and looks very nice. There are plenty of picnic tables under the shaded pavilion. The park has restrooms but the stalls, in the girls, do not have doors which is odd. The kids corral is a all wooden playground located next to the park. It was beautiful when it was built however that was a very long time ago. It could use a makeover. The wood is very worn, definitely looking it's age. I would be afraid of splinters but the kids don't mind. They have baby seat swings and a few regular swings. Lots of running around space with slides and stairs. The last time were were here the tire swings had been taken down. This is a nice park to visit when the weather permits.

Andy Brown is a beautiful space, from the pond to the open fields, the sidewalk/bike path, multiple large pavilions, and fun playground. There are large, mature trees surrounding the park. We parked in the wrong lot and had to walk alongside the gym in order to get to the playground and I couldn't believe how beautiful the pathways were with all the trees and the small creek running alongside. Not what I expected from a city park! The playground itself ("Kid Country") is almost fully enclosed and is a sprawling assortment of things to climb up, swing on, and slide down. There is a play area in the toddler section with storefronts to spark pretend play. The ground is bark. There are large trees in the center of the play area that provide shade and make the play structure look more natural than your typical playground. Almost like a tree house. There are benches scattered throughout the play area and a large covered pavilion with multiple picnic tables underneath. The city of Coppell provides free WiFi there and there were multiple moms with laptops out, working, while their kids played. The only big negative is the distance from the playground to the bathroom. I understand that they probably built the bathrooms more toward the center of the park, but the wise choice would have been to also put an additional small restroom right next to the playground. It's too far of a walk for me to feel comfortable sending my younger kids over there alone and it's kind of a bummer to have to wrangle together the entire group every time one kid has to pee. Otherwise, a fabulous park. LOVE IT. Hats off to you, Coppell!

Our family has done some of these trails too many times to count. Some people have pointed out that it's flat. It is mostly flat, unless you head towards the big hill next to the frisbee golf portion of the trail. But it's still an excellent network of trails that covers a LOT of territory. You could take the trails far enough north that you head to West Plano, I think. And they keep expanding south as well. I really have to credit Carrollton with doing a great job with these trails over the years. (We lived in Carrollton for 9 years and I miss being walking distance to the greenbelt.) Last note - I'm not a frisbee golfer. We've solely used the trails, not the disc golf course. (Some people have only focused on the disc course, whereas the entire greenbelt has MUCH more than that - as previously mentioned.)

He kept trying over and over and over to go up the ropes and into the first layer of the orb. He was scared, the layers of the orb are made with rope, and I had to go with him while helping him physically, which was heavy on me physically, and I am fit. There were certain parts in that first 'orb layer' that had no net and a steep drop off to the ground. My boy thought it might be fun to try jumping off of it so I had to fight against him to keep him from those parts. I went down the slide with him in my lap to get down. We tried every single time to distract and recenter his focus to get him to try the other playground areas but he was fixated on that orb and wouldn't stop. He is athletic at 55 lbs so usually he prefers the big kid areas at parks. We ended up having to carry him out with him crying, kicking, and screaming due to this playground orb feature. We went to another nearby playground, which was a blast.
