I used to live by White Rock Lake and I mentioned it to my friend how much I miss it so she told me that it's accessible from North Dallas as well. Say what??? I was so happy and wanted to do it immediately. (but had to wait for good weather) Today was gorgeous out, almost 80 so I decided to go for it. The ride is not short, but safe, goes through playgrounds, soccer fields, under highways, it's a fun ride. It has many routes that I will explore in the future. Can't wait to do so! :D read more

Wow! What a safe and family friendly trail to take all the way from North Dallas to White Rock Lake and beyond! Grateful for having the chance to bike the whole distance to and around the lake and back, and it is totally clean and safe the whole way. What trail are these reviews for? The trail that connects white rock lake to north dallas is not clean or safe in certain areas especially for cyclist. Between Forest Ln and 635 sure but further up towards greenville/royal its like the city has given up on maintaining the trail. And the times when the lawn crew is out its during peak hours when the trail has the most traffic instead of early when its light. The trail travels thru an area known for flooding so be prepared for muddy and cracked pavement and the farther you get towards the end the worse it is. So unless you love bugs and washing your bike after every ride i suggest taking the new extension on greenville to the SoPac trail for the ride out to white rock lake. read more

Excellent running trail. The trail has multiple entrances and signage. I parked in a lot with no fees and minimal people. The trail is made for bikers, walkers, and runners. There is signage you can observe and maps available to know your mileage and which way to go. Overall, I would recommend it. read more

I like the trail because it goes on and on and on. The paved track is great for bicyclists as well as for walking and jogging. I also like the trail markings telling you every half mile you have went. Additionally there are signs with numbers on them so you can identify your exact location should you require medical or police assistance. What I don't like is that a good amount of the trail is next to the street. Vehicles are going by although the traffic isn't heavy you are by the street with noise and exhaust fumes. If you are looking for a scenic running and/or biking trail with plenty of shade in the summertime this would be your spot! I've been on the north side of the trail with friends which is really the nicer part but it actually stretches out pretty far. Actually Ive been told that it goes all the way past White Rock Lake! So you can get some really great mileage here if that is your thing. There are plenty of water fountains too up and down the trail to stop for refreshment. Be careful Saturday mornings as bikers zip up and down the trail, so make sure if you are out running in the area that you either keep your music low or music free so you can hear people coming up behind you. The trail can also get very narrow at times so be flexible. Aside from that I really love this trail and will be back many times over! It's nice to switch it up and check out different parks in Dallas. Hey, who says DFW isn't so nature friendly!? You just have to step outside of your humdrum box and do some exploring. My wife and I started at the Valley View Park area. It was a beautiful day and our first time on the trail. We decided to walk the trail and made it to the 3 mi mark before turning around. It is a very nice walk but not very scenic. Plenty of bikers but overall pretty courteous. The trail has 2 lanes and people are pretty good about calling out when they are passing. Cons -bring your own water as there are very few places to rehydrate. -very little shade along the way except under the bridges (highway, train, etc...) -could be pretty crowded on the trail read more

Wish Frisco city council could get its collective act together to piece together a decent trail system similar to what Dallas or Plano has. See, if you live in Frisco, you have to go to Plano, Dallas or Denton to find family friendly bike trails or you just take your chances on some really busy roads. Anyway, we parked at the lot at the intersection of Park Central Drive and Banner Road. The trail was paved and always wide enough for two lanes of traffic from where we started all the way down to White Rock Lake. The trail snaked its way under 75 Hwy along the creek down to the lake passing by Royal Oaks golf course. There were cool views of the creek along with access where you could explore a bit. The trail was active with runners, bikers and inline skaters, but not overly crowded. About six miles down we stopped at Lake House Bar and Grill for a great lunch and some adult beverages for me and my wife (nice selection of craft beers). After the late lunch, we headed down to White Rock Lake to do the remaining 2 mile loop that skirted the north part of the lake. Next time we'll do the loop of the entire lake. For the most part the trail was well maintained except for the part that ran along the north side of the bridge on Mockingbird Lane, but that is probably not used very much. As someone else pointed out, there is limited water stops (there's one next to the Fair Oaks tennis courts on Merriman Parkway), so make sure you load up before starting and when you can. There are a couple places where you can jump off the trail to a nearby store or fast food place. The entire ride was about 14 miles from where we parked. read more

Best trail around! Lots of water stops and bathrooms. We are a family of 6! With kid's ages 7,7,9&10 and we rode the entire trail!

One section of the White Rock Creek Trail starts at the intersection of Beltline and Winwood Road. The paved trail follows a section of White Rock Creek and is tucked behind one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Dallas. There are several spots to have a sit overlooking the creek, as well as a couple of spots to step down to the creek bed and skip rocks. It's a peaceful trail that makes you feel like you're not in the city! If you start at one end on Beltline in Winwood Park, you'll end up further south on Winwood Road and walking distance from White Rock Creek Park, or Addison's Celestial Park, with the giant sundial. This portion of the trail is not heavily biked -- it's definitely a pedestrian trail. Check it out for a lovely walk! read more

A nice, well shaded trail to go for a jog or bike ride. A lot of private property nearby limits your freedom to explore, but stick to the trail and you should enjoy your walk, jog, or ride. The bridge alongside beltline toward the start of the trail is quite spooky though. They should seal that off. I'm pretty sure this park doesn't have lighting, so I would make sure you go while there is plenty of sunlight. read more

Nice, clean, calm park. Family friendly. Nice walking/ jogging/ bike trail. Everyone is considerate of each other on the trail. You can sometimes catch a soccer game on a Saturday. They have markers on the side of the trail for distance. It's also pet friendly. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE riding down to White Rock Lake along this paved trail with my family! We bike 3 miles to the trailhead at Valley View Park in N. Dallas and then take the trail all the way down to WRL. Once there, you can turn back around (about 17 miles round trip) or you can circle the lake (adding 9 miles for about a 26 mile round trip). The trail is ALWAYS in use by cyclists, roller bladers, walkers, runners and even riders (atop their horses!). My teens have been riding with us down there since they were tweens. Sometimes we divert off the trail at Mockingbird and head west to get tacos before heading home. Great memories have been made together on the WRCT. HIGHLY recommend biking it. read more

I just rode the top 5.6 miles of the WWC Trail and thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery is great and there are a few hills that I didn't expect but they are few in number. I rode from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and returned at 3 p.m. There were others using the trail but mostly had it to myself. Next time I want to go all the way to White Rock Lake. Great escape from city traffic. read more
