Before coming in, Mandy was very helpful and responded quickly to my messages and questions. The day of the ride, the weather was great and my assigned horse, Spirit was just lovely. We got to explore a beautiful park that had a combination of wide, open spaces as well as smaller paths, completely surrounded by a variety of trees, vines and plants. I really appreciated the freedom and feeling of being away from the city. It might be helpful to mention that both Happi Farm and HGS share a location, however they are separate. In order to get to Hidden Stables you have to cross through Happi Farm, which can be a bit daunting, but honestly everyone worked swiftly to make sure people moved to the side & the animals were safe! Yes, she did apologize, but her response felt defensive rather than solution-oriented, and no meaningful effort was made to make up for the missed lesson -- only a suggestion to reschedule. We were told the deposit would be refunded, but it was not sent. I followed up the next day and received no response. Communication was ignored for several days. Only after I stated that I would be sharing this experience publicly did I receive multiple messages, explanations, and attempts to justify the situation. At that point, a refund was suddenly processed. Overall, this did not feel like a business that is run seriously or one that truly takes care of its customers. Sharing this so you can make an informed decision.

Many of the horses were clearly undertrained -- often reactive, unpredictable, and frankly unsafe. It was common to see horses used in lessons or activities that they clearly weren't prepared for. One situation I was told something involved a very young horse -- being used in a lesson. Even though the rider had some experience, the horse was nowhere near ready for that kind of work, and it ended with the horse throwing itself on the ground to get her off. It could have gone very, very badly. Some horses were also visibly underweight or in discomfort, especially during tacking or riding. And yet, they were still being used regularly. The level of care was uneven at best, with certain horses receiving attention and others being neglected -- sometimes to the point of pain or distress. Harsh equipment, poor supervision, and questionable decisions seemed more common than not. And while I won't go into specifics because I believe it's pretty graphic, I witnessed the mistreatment of animals beyond just the horses. It was enough to change how I look at places like this entirely. If you're considering this barn, please look deeper than appearances. The safety of both animals and riders is something that should never be compromised -- but here, it often was.

Honestly, I probably could have seen the same thing at my local shelter and saved $30. I'm hoping the money goes toward helping the animals, but it's really hard to tell. They have goats, plenty of birds, llamas, pigs, and horses. I wouldn't call it a true petting zoo because most of the petting is done through a gate. If you want a horse ride, you have to ask. No one offers or tells you about it. Everything looked like it could use some updating or repairs, and the overall vibe from most of the staff was, "Please hurry up so we can get back to what we were doing." A couple of employees were pleasant and helpful, but they weren't going above and beyond. They simply gave us what we asked for. Overall, I probably won't be back. The negative reviews I've seen do not reflect what I have witnessed at Davie Boarding Stable. For over a year, I prayed for God to lead my daughter to a safe, peaceful, and loving home for her horse. Yesterday, He answered that prayer. From the moment we arrived, we felt an incredible sense of peace and knew this was where we were meant to be. We were welcomed with genuine love and kindness and professionalism, taking the time to answer every question and make us feel at home. The facility is immaculate, well-managed, and clearly operated with great care and dedication. The horses are so loved, well-fed, and exceptionally cared for. Having managed barns myself and visited many facilities over the years, I can honestly say this is one of the finest stables I have ever seen. We feel truly blessed and grateful that God led us here.
