It was my first time going there! The place is beautiful from outside and has a nice little private patio! When you go inside, it's a big, very cozy with amazing vibe! Staff is very nice and helpful! They have a very good selection of pastries! It was really hard to resist! The quality and taste of the products were really good and I enjoyed my experience! I will definitely go back there! Maybe next time for breakfast!

Salted caramel, & Vanilla Lattes were nice and creamy. Be sure to ask for hotter as ours were not quite hot enough. Our treats were yummy. Cinnamon Knots & espresso chocolate chip muffins were fresh and tasty. Cream cheese dip was a bit sweet. The ambience was exceptional. Warm lighting with sconces on the walls. A lovely chandelier and different types of lighting peppered throughout the space. This coffee spot has plenty of space and seating from normal tables and chairs to benches along the wall to comfy leather sofas and a cozy little seating area near the fireplace, as well as a community table. Also outdoor is also available with a cute patio. I definitely recommend this hidden little gem to everyone. Two thumbs up

Stopped in for a much needed pick-me-up about an hour before close, but I can see why this is a neighborhood favorite. The minute you walk in, you're surrounded by the classic feel of a coffee shop where people come to sink into comfy chairs and chat or get some work done. There were tons of local wares, in-house roasted coffee beans, art, Knick knacks, and more for purchase beyond the food and drink menu. I got a matcha latte with oat milk to go and it was great. Took a little time for it to be served, but it gave me a chance to poke around and look at all the artisan gifts they had to offer. TIP: there's a parking lot with free parking and WiFi with a password.

Homey, inclusive vibe with lots of energy at the same time. Coffee and service is great. I have only had a muffin and it was pretty delicious, other food items look good but I haven't tried. This is becoming my regular coffee spot.

Cool person to talk to in cool coffee shop.

A quaint, cosy, cool coffee shop to get together with a cool person for a meeting of the minds. A coffee shop with an intelligent atmosphere, where if you had the time, you could talk for hours. The beverages and goodies are an added incentive to stay. Staff are friendly and polite.

There isn't much better than a really great coffee shop. A cozy place where you can go and sit that serves excellent coffee and delicious food... Every neighbourhood wishes for one. I know that I do!! The people of Aspen Gardens are lucky because they have Square 1 Coffee, a truly wonderful cafe that delivers on all levels. (There is now a second location in Glenora as well.) Edmonton Journal named them Best Coffee Shop 2021, and I would personally say that they are among the top 2-3 best places to grab a coffee in the city. You'll find the original location in a strip mall and when you step inside you will immediately be surprised by the expansiveness of the space. It's a really big restaurant! Complete with soaring ceilings, a small patio out front, and enough space for a retail area. There are a lot of tables and couches but Square 1 is no secret and it can often be quite busy. Such was the case on my Saturday morning visit, as I hurried to grab myself some couch in the middle of the room. Like most cafes, you approach the counter to make your order, however not without taking a look in the cooler on the left first. This is where you'll find all of the sandwiches for the day (which rotate) and all of the special desserts. You can pull out whatever you like and take it with you to the counter. If you've selected a sandwich you will have the option to have it heated up. The staff is friendly and helpful, ready to make your coffee dreams come true. I like that Square 1 often has different seasonal coffee/tea/latte features available because I'm someone who always enjoys trying something new. However, on this visit I went for a personal classic and ordered a Mocha ($6.00 for regular size). This is my usual fallback when there isn't something "fun" or "interesting" to try. I am no coffee expert by any means but I know that I like the coffee at Square 1 better than most. I'm aware that they use 49th Parallel coffee from Vancouver but I'm not entirely sure if this is what they serve exclusively. My mocha was everything that I want a mocha to be; velvety smooth, a hint of sweetness, and the taste of good quality coffee. Every element was in perfect balance, letting each component shine. Wonderfully frothy and super creamy, this mocha felt luxurious. One of my favourites in the city for sure. The next most important thing that you need to be aware of at Square 1 is the Cinnamon Knot ($4.50). The pastry case is full of various goodies but the cinnamon knot is the thing. It's not quite like a cinnamon bun... And you need to try it for yourself so that you're in the know. Twists of warm, soft pastry dough reveal folds of cinnamon within, while the outside adopts a deliciously caramelized shell. You honestly can't go wrong with this delightful bakery item and I can see why it's one of the most popular items on the menu. Grab a cinnamon knot and a coffee? Perfection. I wanted to get into some of the actual "food" and it was pretty early in the day so a breakfast-themed offering seemed like a solid choice. Square 1 has a breakfast sandwich as well as a Breakfast Wrap (Egg, hash brown, onion, mushrooms, cheddar, peppers - $8.00). I chose the latter since I'd heard good things. The wrap came from the cooler and then was reheated in a panini press and served on a plate. I liked the components of this wrap and especially enjoyed the melty cheddar cheese. I think that the addition of hash brown is a great choice to take the wrap to the next level and to round out the breakfast experience. I could have used some hot sauce on the side to add a bit more kick but overall I found the wrap to be a great option for a quick and easy handheld breakfast. I didn't even really realize that it's vegetarian! Next, I absolutely had to try the Dill Pickle Grilled Cheese ($10.00). The sandwiches are constantly rotating at Square 1, in fact I grabbed the last dill pickle grilled cheese and they didn't make more. Instead, they replaced it with an entirely new sandwich. If there's a sandwich that you love it might be difficult to track down if/when you'll be able to eat it again. So enjoy those bites! This was another situation where the sandwich was wrapped in paper in the cooler and they heated it in a panini press and served it on a plate. I mean, it's a grilled cheese sandwich. If you didn't reheat this one it would be a pretty sad situation. I LOVED this sandwich and I think that it was my favourite food item overall. Cheddar cheese, tangy dill pickles, and a dill aioli spread... My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The cheese was melty and the pickles were juicy. If you're the type of person who is crazy for pickles (IE: me) then this is the sandwich for you. It will bring you much joy. The only issue is that it's a complete mystery as to when this thing is available. Lastly, every time that I visit Square 1 I note that the cooler is usually filled with pretty fancy dessert items. Like, more involved than you would expect fr

Great local coffee shop! Staff is skilled....always a good cup of joe. And cinnamon twists are tasty!

I love their coffee, the ambiance, and the locally made items available. I also found out their Oreo cheesecake is absolutely delicious the last time I was there. Really busy, but you can almost always find seating.

Square 1 Coffee is one of my favourite coffee places on the south side, hands down! It's located in a old strip mall, so it has some awesome quirks because of that. With high ceilings in the cafe and unique tiles in the bathroom. As you open the door you are greeted with the warm glow of the lights, the smell of fresh coffee, the chatter of the occupants, and the clatter of baristas making drinks. I've always enjoyed my selections at Sqaure 1, from beverages to food. I usually go with , and recommend the apple cider. It's pretty unique, being made with milk so it comes with light foam. During the holiday season they have the most amazing eggnog latte that beats out the main competition! I usually go with a tasty dessert option from the big refrigerator loaded with a selection of sweets, lunch items, including wraps, sandwiches, and salad bowls. They also have a small pastry case loaded with baked goods, ranging from muffins to brioches. The space is roomy with lots of different seating options, as well as a laptop bar. It can get busy during certain times and tables can be taken up but laptops and their owners. Square 1 has a policy posted asking that solo customers buddy up or use the laptop bars during the busy times. They also have live music on Sunday. Overall my visits have always been great as I keep coming back!

After religiously visiting some different coffee shops in Edmonton, by far this is my favourite for a local ownership. I wished I knew this place sooner as I moved to Edmonton 2.5 years ago. The coziest coffee shop in Edmonton that I've ever been. I started to visit this place early on August 3, 2019. The next day, I popped in to it again. Finally, I have been visiting this place once every week. I love the ambience! Friendly, rustic countertop and old-style tiles backdrop. The charm didn't stop there. With a cute little giftshop inside the cafe and plenty parking spots, this place has stolen my heart. A good connection of wifi and lots of electricity plugs for your devices make Square 1 my favourite place to work. Every Thursday night, there is a live music as well.

another hidden cafe gem in Edmonton close to the high level bridge…read more It's a cool cafe that looks like a house from the outside.

Oh. Em. Squeal!!!!!…read more First off, mad props to my friend for introducing me to this charming new addition to the coffee scene. Stop Gap opened just under a month ago in Oliver. They describe themselves as a temporary (stop gap) means to filling a need - coffee - served with an intentional and caring heart. Caleb Kam, the owner, is warm and inviting. He definitely knows his coffee. You may know him from his former life at Brown Butter Cafe. Caleb focuses on Canadian, fresh, and local! I spotted Ace and Candid today (Edmonton gems). The clientele were sweet and happy to offer up their faves! Nathan, a regular, told me Caleb is the go to for the best pour over in town. I opted for a Dirty Chai - made to perfection and my friend had a oat milk chai complete with milk art adorning the top. Both beverages were perfection. Coffee can be consumed in house complete with adorable coasters (el gato was my fave naturally, meow) or taken to go. For seating, there is a cute bench against the window front and a side room available if not booked. Caleb also had fresh donuts from Fuzion in Chinatown. My friend and I shared the cake and Cinnamon bun donut today. Sooo ridiculously good. Be sure to check Fuzion out online - they don't have a storefront so you will need to order in advance if you are looking to up your donut game at your next office meeting. I seriously can't wait to come back here again! Oh and they also have a beautiful meeting space available for rent on the main floor in case you want to bring your next staff meeting to the best coffee in town! Such a true pleasure meeting you today, Caleb! Stop Gap is exactly what YEG needs!
